Esteemed Your Excellency,

A meeting of representatives of 14 countries comprising professors, doctors, engineers, lawyers including human right activists met in an International Seminar on September 8, 2016 organized under the auspices of IIJ1 in Pyongyang unanimously resolved to send an appeal to Your Excellency to immediately lift the economic sanctions imposed by the UN against DPRK.

HAVING witnessed die popular policies and measures of the DPRK that is committed to raise the standard of living of its people in peaceful manner on the basis of its own Juche philosophy which means that every human is a social being who is a master of its own destiny and is desirous of living in peace independently and creatively, we came to know that the anti-DPRK propaganda of the US and the government in Seoul, that the DPRK's military preparedness is aimed to destroy international peace and disarmament, is false and misleading. The fact is that the DPRK's preparedness in terms of military is to thwart any aggression and to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and integrity.

This preparedness is in self defence which is the sovereign right of a nation. DPRK is committed to work internationally for securing peace and harmony.

The seminar URGES the United Nations to take immediate steps to lift sanctions from DPRK as these sanctions have adversely affected the foodstuff for children and other essential items of use for its citizens which violates the human rights of its citizens and same amount to violation of international law.

We think the economic sanction imposed by the United Nations against the DPRK should be reviewed on humanitarian grounds to help and aid human and material damage caused by the recent gale force and flood in the northern part of DPRK.

We APPEAL through United Nations to the conscience of all people of the world not to form opinion about DPRK on the basis of false propaganda and lies spread by the US and its allies.

National Reconciliation Council Warns Park Geun Hye Not to Spout Anti- DPRK Invectives

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Traitor Park Geun Hye is keen on reeling off invectives slandering the social system in the DPRK almost every day while going against the unanimous desire of the fellow countrymen for reconciliation, unity and reunification.

She talked about "sign of serious breakdown", "emergency enough to arouse concern" and even spouted without hesitation such hideous invectives like "out of common sense" and "tyranny", daring hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK.

She is going busy soliciting for "cooperation for pressure" on the DPRK while slandering the DPRK's line on simultaneous development of the front fronts as "isolation" and "self-ruin". She is even spouting such absurd sophism as "leading the north to changes" and "separation of inhabitants from the authorities," openly disclosing her ambition for "unification of social systems".

The National Reconciliation Council in a warning notice on Saturday said that Park can never be pardoned for distorting the truth, mocking the nation and disturbing the world.

The Council, in reflection of the will of the enraged army and people of the DPRK to inflict merciless punishment on Park, sternly warned the traitor, hideous confrontation manic and the nation's biggest trouble-maker, as she dares challenge the inviolable dignity and social system of the DPRK and makes last-ditch efforts to prolong her remaining dirty days.

Traitor Park should stop senseless gibberish, clearly understanding that her talk about "sign of breakdown" and "emergency" would only disclose her ignorance of the social system in the DPRK. 

She should clearly see through the sky-high spirit of the DPRK making leaping progress toward the eminence of the final victory along the path indicated by the line of simultaneous development of the two fronts and stop making such senseless remarks as "isolation" and "self- ruin".

She should stop acting rashly while uttering such words as "leading the north to changes" and "living of inhabitants", clearly understanding that her ambition for "unification of social systems" is a pipedream.

We have on record all the invectives and crimes committed by Park against the DPRK and will thoroughly and mercilessly punish her on the day when the great victory of the national reunification will be won.

She will be made to see before long what high price she has to pay for her reckless confrontation vituperation.

The Nuclear Weapons Institute of the DPRK

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- The Nuclear Weapons Institute of the DPRK made public the following statement Friday:

Scientists and technicians of the DPRK carried out a nuclear explosion test for the judgment of the power of a nuclear warhead newly studied and manufactured by them at the northern nuclear test ground under the plan of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) for building strategic nuclear force.

The Central Committee of the WPK sent warm congratulations to nuclear scientists and technicians of the northern nuclear test ground on the successful nuclear warhead explosion test.

The nuclear test finally examined and confirmed the structure and specific features of movement of nuclear warhead that has been standardized to be able to be mounted on strategic ballistic rockets of the Hwasong artillery units of the Strategic Force of the Korean People's Army as well as its performance and power.

It was confirmed through the results of analysis of the test that the measured values including explosion might and the nuclear material usage coefficient conformed with the calculated values and that there was no radioactive materials leakage during the test and, therefore, no adverse impact on the ecological environment of the surroundings.

The standardization of the nuclear warhead will enable the DPRK to produce at will and as many as it wants a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power with a firm hold on the technology for producing and using various fissile materials. The DPRK will take further measures to bolster the state nuclear force in quality and quantity for safeguarding its dignity and right to existence and genuine peace from the U.S. increasing threat of a nuclear war.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman Refutes Obama's "Statement" against Nuclear Warheads Explosive Test

Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK issued the following statement on Sunday:

Scientists and technicians of the Nuclear Weapons Institute of the DPRK successfully conducted a nuclear explosive test for judging the power of nuclear warheads. Much upset by this, the Obama group has gone foolish in its moves to incite an atmosphere of putting pressure and stifling the DPRK and to cover up its failed DPRK policy by branding the DPRK as the "harasser of peace".

On Friday Obama personally made public a "statement" in which he branded the DPRK's nuclear warheads explosive test as a "threat" and "provocation" to peace and security and "ignorance" of the international norms of practices, adding that he will never acknowledge the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state but will cooperate with the international community to take additional crucial measures.

The nuclear warheads explosive test was a demonstration of the toughest will of the DPRK that showed it is ready to counterattack the enemies if they make a provocation as it was part of the substantial countermeasures to the threat of a nuclear war and sanctions racket kicked up by the hostile forces including the U.S.

We are holding fast to the line of simultaneously developing the two fronts to safeguard the sovereignty, right to existence and peace from the ever-increasing nuclear threat and blackmail of the U.S., and the recent test was just part of the whole course of implementing the line.

With the end of its tenure nearing the Obama group has faced a flurry of censures from the public at home and abroad for its totally bankrupt DPRK policy which only resulted in compelling the DPRK to increase its nuclear attack capabilities moment by moment.

Obama's recent publication of the "statement" is aimed to shift the blame for pushing the DPRK to have access to nukes and save even a bit his face that was completely lost before the world.

The U.S. is the very one which compelled the DPRK to develop nuclear warheads, and its nuclear threat and blackmail that have constantly been posed to the DPRK almost every day for the past decades have been an engine which pushed the DPRK to reach this point.

Obama is trying hard to deny the DPRK's strategic position as a legitimate nuclear weapons state but it is as foolish an act as trying to eclipse the sun with a palm.

It is foolhardy for the Obama group to get itself busy while crying out for the senseless sanctions ballad even today when its "strategic patience" policy became totally bankrupt and it is nearing the end of its tenure.

As was already clarified, we will continue to take measures for increasing the nuclear force of the country in quality and in quantity to safeguard the dignity and the right to existence of the DPRK and ensure genuine peace from the U.S. increasing threat of a nuclear war.

KCNA Commentary Accuses U.S. of Spreading Fresh False Story

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- These days the U.S. is busy spreading new false stories such as "story of abduction of American university student" as part of its smear campaign against the DPRK.

The U.S. let riff-raffs of plot-breeding organizations including the "North Korea Freedom Coalition" of the U.S. and the "meeting of families of north's abductees" to say that an American university student who disappeared in China 12 years ago might have been abducted by north Korea. The U.S. calls for "signature campaign" through internet in demand of passing a "draft resolution" on the incident through Congress. Furthermore, the U.S. prodded Western media into floating the story that "hundreds of Americans reported missing were in prison of north Korea," claiming this was secret information obtained from data base of the CIA. The fact that the CIA and many anti-DPRK plot-breeding organizations, its tools, were involved in spreading the above-said false propaganda suffices to guess the purpose and the whole aspect of the charade.

This is another politically-motivated provocation aimed at impairing the ever-rising prestige of the DPRK in the international arena as it is nothing but a psychological warfare putting into the shade the Hitler fascist clique in the light of its style and method.

The U.S. tried to use the doctrine of the fascist maniac that "telling a lie hundred times makes people believe it" and experience of the anti-Soviet propaganda that "radios and publications brought 'victory' which could not be achieved by nuclear blackmail." However, the above-said chicanery proved to be false from the beginning.

The American media, expressing suspicion about the case, terming it "shocking news," conveyed the fact that the Chinese authorities drew the conclusion that the American university

student might have drowned at that time.

Contrary to assertions of tricksters that a "defector from the north" saw the American university student in Pyongyang, the mother of "missing student" said she did not believe blindly press reports and the U.S. Department of State said at the beginning that there was no evidence proving it and it was under discussion with the Chinese authorities.

Against this backdrop, the "North Korea Freedom Coalition" is claiming that the U.S. Department of State and intelligence authorities are coordinating the investigation into the incident with Japan, south Korea and others. This makes clear in to what direction the "investigation" would be conducted.

As seen above, the recent false propaganda is a continuation of the anti-DPRK moves pursuant to the U.S. policy and a prelude to a new war.

Such false propaganda is little short of a pre-emptive attack heralding an actual physical war tomorrow as it is a common practice in modern wars for a psychological warfare to reach the height before the full involvement of means for physical war.

The Korean peninsula is technically at war as the world's biggest nuclear strike means are massively deployed for actions and there is neither judicial nor institutional mechanism on the peninsula to avert a war.

The false propaganda launched by the U.S. under the touch-and-go-situation is designed to secure a pretext for igniting a war of aggression.

The U.S., however, is seriously mistaken.

The DPRK has its own mode of counteraction to foil any provocation of the enemies at one stroke.

The successful nuclear warhead explosive test of the DPRK is part of practical counteraction against the threats and sanctions of the U.S. and other hostile forces pulling up the DPRK over the exercise of its right to self-defence in persistent denial of the strategic position of the DPRK, a full-fledged nuclear weapons state.

The DPRK is always ready to beat back any enemy attack.

Steadfast is the will of the service personnel and people of the DPRK to take the toughest counter action against the enemy.

Truth behind Group Abduction of Women Employees of DPRK Can Never Be Concealed.

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- More than 150 days have passed since Korean women working abroad were taken to south Korea after being abducted in group by gangsters of the puppet Intelligence Service.

Despite strong protest and denunciation by the public at home and abroad the puppet forces have resorted to vicious and cruel "defection operation" against those abductees. Recently the gangsters worked out a plan to hold conspiratorial "interview" in a bid to describe the incident as a "defection from the north at free will".

The DPRK Emergency Measure Committee for Rescuing Abducted Persons Saturday released a detailed report to reveal the despicable nature of the desperate efforts made by the evil boss of Chongwadae and her group to dodge the crime of the group abduction and responsibility for it.

Revealing the thrice-cursed group abduction by the puppet forces, the detailed report said:

The case happened in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China on April 5 but the tentacles of the puppet Intelligence Service gangsters began stretching when they were operating a restaurant in Yanji, Jilin Province.

Gangsters of the puppet Intelligence Service intentionally approached the head of the restaurant that ran into heavy debts by hanging out with brokers and leading corrupt life, and put a bridle on him in a crafty way.

Pursuant to a scenario mapped out by their superior, the field gangsters of the puppet Intelligence Service prodded the head of the restaurant surnamed Ho who had already been reduced to their cat's paw into collecting passports of the women employees and going through departure formalities in secrecy. They even gave him 60 000 RMB.Y to buy plane tickets for Malaysia.

The women employees came to know that they were abducted only after they boarded the plane bound for south Korea and demanded return to homeland. At that time gangsters of the puppet Intelligence Service let Ho appease them with such words that "they are going to south Korea for a special duty" and forcibly took them to south Korea at last.

Disclosing the cruel and vicious "defection operation" conducted by the puppet group, the report continued:

The puppet group keen on escalating confrontation with the fellow countrymen, tried by hook or by crook to describe the group abduction as "defection from the north at free will" in a bid to shore up the bankrupt racket for sanctions against the DPRK.

They forced "defection" upon the DPRK women day and night by injecting Ringer's solution to them who were exhausted for strong mental shock and hunger strike.

Nevertheless, the puppet forces are claiming that "the DPRK women are under investigation in good health and they are staying at Lotte Hotel and listening to news of the south side and touring various places to be accustomed to the reality" in a bid to dodge domestic and foreign public criticism of the despicable "operation."

The detailed report denounced the mean behaviour of the puppet forces to cover up the truth about the group allurement and abduction.

The Park Geun Hye group, driven into a tight corner for having failed to conceal its group allurement and abduction due to the daily-growing criticism, protest and condemnation by domestic and foreign public, is working hard to stage a conspiratorial broadcasting "interview" with the DPRK's women employees.

The tricksters and plot-breeders of the puppet Intelligence Service are conducting repeated rehearsals for "interviews" with the DPRK's women employees in such a way as changing reporters and observers every time.

It admits of no argument that the true aim of the rehearsals is to make the abductees hard to distinguish the real "interview" from the false one and air only the program judged as orchestrated according to their scenario.

The puppet forces are scheming to stage the above-said farce before and after Harvest Moon Day.

This indicates that, much upset by the strong public protest at home and abroad, they floated such false rumour that the DPRK's women employees settled in the society after going through inquiry by the authorities concerned and are hatching plots to justify their crimes by painting the abduction as "defection from north at free will" at any cost.

The puppet forces should clearly know that their base "operation" for forcing defection upon the abductees despite strong protest by the public at home and abroad would only bring to light their wicked nature as chieftains of allurement and abduction and terrorism and plot-breeding.

Noting that the puppet forces can never evade the responsibility for the hideous group allurement and abduction, the detailed report stressed the Korean people would surely force the wicked confrontation maniacs and devils without an equal in the world to pay a high price for their treachery and crimes against humanity.

Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry Slams U.S. Accusations over Its Measures for Bolstering up Nuclear Deterrent for Self-defence

Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK on Tuesday gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA slamming the U.S. and its followers' accusations against the DPRK over its measures for bolstering up nuclear deterrent for self-defence:

U.S. Secretary of State Kerry held tripartite talks with the foreign ministers of Japan and south Korea in New York on Sept. 18. There, Kerry again talked about the tattered "dialogue for denuclearization", terming the DPRK's measures for bolstering up its nuclear force "provocation and ill-advised action" and the like.

These are nothing but gangster-like remarks making profound confusing of right and wrong.

The DPRK's nuclear force serves as a treasured sword of justice for putting a definite end to the U.S. nuclear threat and blackmail that have lasted for more than half a century and protecting not only the sovereignty and vital rights of the country but also peace and security in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

The U.S. persistent labelling of the DPRK's measures for bolstering up the capability for self- defence as "threat" is nothing but a pretext for justifying its aggressive hostile policy towards the DPRK and strategy for dominating Asia.

The U.S. is ridiculously trumpeting that the DPRK will "get great reward" in return for dismantling its nukes but it is a cynical ploy to disarm the DPRK and occupy the whole of the Korean peninsula and, furthermore, realize its wild dream for world domination.

The U.S. undisguised hostile military actions and nuclear blackmail against the DPRK scrapped the keynote of the September 19 joint statement and deprived it of both legal ground and moral justification to talk about "fulfillment of its commitments."

Well aware that it is impossible to bring the DPRK to its knees through economic pressure and military threats, the U.S. is scheming to "topple its social system," pulling up it over its "human rights issue", but it is a daydream.

The U.S. and its vassal forces' desperate rackets to tighten sanctions against the DPRK and ratchet up the pressure upon it would only harden the will of its service persons and civilians to take revenge upon them.

The DPRK will take powerful counteractions of its own style one after another and make the U.S. regret its reckless actions taken with its wrong judgment.

Kim Jong Un Visits Newly-built Medical Oxygen Factory

    Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the newly-built Medical Oxygen Factory.

    The factory, whose all processes are automated and computerized, is an advanced medical oxygen production and supply base for hospitals.

    Kim Jong Un went round oxygen separating station, gas oxygen filling station, oxygen supply station and other parts of the factory to learn in detail about its construction and operation plan.

    He was satisfied with everything, noting that an integrated production system has been established well at the factory, every production process is fully equipped with modern facilities and it has a car for delivering medical oxygen.

    Recalling his instruction that an oxygen supply station should be built for hospitals to get medical oxygen without any inconvenience, he said the station is flawless in aspects of architectural beauty, convenience and utility.

    He said that he is pleasant to see oxygen cylinders standing in rows at the station, each bearing a name of hospital to be supplied.

    The factory is a small yet big one as it is greatly conducive to the protection of people's lives and improvement of their health, he said and set forth the tasks facing it. And he gave an instruction that such modern medical oxygen production base should be built in different parts of the country on the basis of the achievements made in its construction.

    When the factory begins its production to supply quality oxygen for treatment, people will get a great benefit from it, he said, adding: It is needed to make our people feel the advantages of the socialist system through such social benefits as the socialist health care system.

    There are many things for us to do, but we attach primary attention to the public health service, because it represents the socialist system and is a very important work to give full play to the advantages of our socialist healthcare system, the only system in the world, through which the Party and the state take care of the people's lives and health with responsibility, he said.

    He stressed the need to direct sustained efforts to consolidating the material and technical foundations of health service in order to make the country's healthcare system the most popular and advanced one of world level.

    He expressed belief that the officials and employees of the factory would fully discharge their honorable duty with a firm will to contribute to the people's health improvement.

Kim Jong Un Visits Kosan Combined Fruit Farm

    Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Kosan Combined Fruit Farm.

    Kim Jong Un looked round the room for the education in the revolutionary history which was remodeled to convey to posterity the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on the farm.

    Watching the precious historic relics with keen attention, he said that the farm founded under the far-reaching plan of the President turned into a combined fruit production base thanks to the loving care of Kim Jong Il.

    Laudable successes achieved by the farm would be unthinkable without the devoted efforts exerted by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for indicating a bright prospect for the farm, he noted, adding that one should always remember how the history of the sea of apple orchards began at the foot of Chol Pass.

    He enjoyed a bird's-eye view of the combined farm from the observation deck which Kim Jong Il mounted and looked round orchards.

    Very pleased to hear that the farm expects to harvest more than 50 tons per hectare from the dozens of hectares of orchards this year, he said, his face beaming with a broad smile, every tree is heavily laden with apples.

    He made around of the newly built fruits store and noted that officials and members of the Construction Shock Brigade 618 have successfully constructed the modern fruit store with a capacity of thousands of tons to be an impeccable one. He highly praised them for making a positive contribution to developing the combined farm into the world's leading young fruit farm.

    Watching vehicles and forklifts provided by the Party, he was so kind as to promise to send more modern fruit-farming machines including power-driven sprayers to the farm.

    Underlining the need for the farm to intensify the drive for making leaping advance in production on the basis of the achievements made this year, he set forth the tasks facing the farm.

    He said the officials and employees of the farm has brought the greatest harvest of fruits in the history of Kosan by displaying the spirit of devotedly implementing the Party's policies, bearing deep in mind the Party's intention to sufficiently provide people with fruits. This farm is a model one and iconic one as it showed in practice how to carry out the Party policies. He gave the farm special thanks in the name of the Central Committee of the WPK.

    The news of the rich fruit harvest which visited the farm would instill enormous strength and courage into those service personnel and people who are working fresh miracles in turning adversity into favorable situation in the campaign for recovering from the flood damage in the northern part of the country by dint of single-minded unity, he said, adding that he was very pleased to think about it.

    He expressed the expectation and belief that officials and employees of the farm would develop the farm into a standard farm befitting a highly civilized socialist nation and the one to be proud of before the world and bring about fresh leaping progress in fruit production every year through the army-people coordinated operation.

    Accompanying him were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Hwang Pyong So, director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, and Army Col. General So Hong Chan, first vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces.

Kim Jong Un Guides Ground Jet Test of New-type High-Power Engine of Carrier Rocket for Geo-stationary Satellite

    Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited the Sohae Space Center to guide the ground jet test of a new type high-power engine of a carrier rocket for the geo-stationary satellite.

    The newly developed high-power engine is a single engine whose thrust is 80 tf.

    The test was aimed to make a final confirmation of the feature of combustion chamber, operation accuracy of valves and control systems and structural reliability of the engine during 200 seconds-long working time.

    Kim Jong Un issued an order to conduct the test.

    The moment the engine spewed out huge flames with deafening sound.

    The test showed that thrust and other technological indexes of the engine accurately reached the estimated values and the feature values of all systems of the engine remained stable throughout the working time.

    The successful manufacture of the engine provided a firm scientific and technological guarantee for developing and completing the carrier rocket for geo-stationary satellite during the 5-year program for national aerospace development and made it possible to acquire sufficient carrier capability for launching various kinds of satellites including earth observation satellite at a world level.

    He expressed great satisfaction over the results of the test and highly praised the officials and scientists and technicians of the National Aerospace Development Administration for having successfully and devotedly carried out the task given by the Party in a short span of time.

    The space science and technology and the space industry are an important barometer for estimating the national power, he said, calling for more dynamically paving the avenue to space conquest by conducting in real earnest the work for developing the space in order to fulfill the 5-year program for national aerospace development.

    The development and use of space are an important policy of our Party and an important work for which the state should make sustained efforts, he said, adding that the National Aerospace Development Administration should carry out the space development with a main emphasis on the satellite development and manufacture and launch more satellites for different uses by indigenous efforts and technology and thus turn our country into a possessor of geostationary satellites in a couple of years to come.

    Noting that thanks to the implementation of the Party's line of prioritizing science and technology world-startling unprecedented miraculous successes have been made in the field of cutting-edge science and technology including space technology despite the difficult economic conditions of the country, he requested the officials, scientists and technicians to round off the preparations for launching the satellite as soon as possible on the basis of the successful test and thus bring the news of greater victory to the people who have steadfastly lived and struggled under the leadership of the Party, unwaveringly trusting it, though they have fastened their belts owing to the enemies' harsh sanctions and moves to stifle the DPRK.

Torchlight Gala Marks 9th Congress of Youth League

A torchlight gala of members of the youth vanguard "Let the Youth Power March forward Following the Party!" was held with splendor at the May Day Stadium on Sunday to mark the 9th Congress of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.

Among the spectators were Hwang Pyong So, Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Ki Nam and others, the participants of the 9th congress and youth and students and working people in Pyongyang, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans.

When open cars carrying flags bearing the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il entered the venue of the gala, escorted by members of the young vanguard, the participants broke into cheers of "hurrah!" and the august names of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu and the letters "Youth league of eternal sun" were projected.

The letters "August 28, 1927," "January 17, 1946" and "January 19, 1996" and Mt. Paektu showing the exploits of the peerlessly great men to go down in the history of the Korean youth movement were shown by change of torch formations.

The letters "Hanbyol", "Shining Star" and "Young Vanguard" were depicted to represent the will of the youth to fully demonstrate the might of the youth power of Mt. Paektu while absolutely trusting and following Marshal Kim Jong Un only just as the passionate youths of the preceding generations devotedly defended the great leaders, holding them in high esteem as the center of the leadership and unity.

Youth and students truthfully represented with torchlight the fact that the loving care being shown by the mother Party to make the young people ones envied by the world, true to the noble intention of the leaders, is just the one shown by
Kim Jong Un.

Formations and rhythms of torch holders were presented to depict the revolutionary mettle of the youths to steadily work miracles and make uninterrupted advance by creating the Mallima speed in the 200-day campaign of loyalty to make a breakthrough in carrying out the 5-year strategy for national economic development.

Ranks of torch holders depicted the letters "Lineage of Mt. Paektu", "Reserves", "Advancing Group", "Wing" and "Safeguarding of Leader."

Letters "May torchlight of youth power last forever!" were depicted.

When the gala was over, the participants broke into cheers of "hurrah!" again.

Kim Jong Un waved back to the young vanguard.

He extended thanks to all the performers, creators, instructors and officials, saying with high appreciation that the torch gala of the young vanguard is the highest in organizational ability, discipline and artistry.

The newly created song "Hymn of Youth" was played and youth and students presented dance.

Fireworks were displayed to gorgeously decorate the nocturnal sky above the stadium.

9th Congress of Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League Held in Presence of Kim Jong Un

The 9th Congress of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League was held with splendor in Pyongyang on Saturday and Sunday.

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was present at the congress.

Also present there were Hwang Pyong So, Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Ki Nam and others and delegates elected at the conferences of the youth league in Pyongyang and local areas.

Present there as observers were officials of party, administrative and armed forces organs, those in the field of education of youths, a delegation of the Korean Youth League in Japan and a delegation of Federation of Young Korean Nationals in China.

Man and woman delegates to the congress presented a floral basket to Kim Jong Un and offered salutes to him.

Kim Jong Un was presented with silk banners by the heads of the delegations.

The participants were informed that floral baskets and congratulatory messages and letters were presented to Kim Jong Un by figures of political and social circles, representatives of the groups for the study of the Juche idea and organizations for solidarity and friendship and youth organizations of various countries of the world on the occasion of the Ninth Congress of the youth league.

The idea and politics of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) on prioritizing the youth are the great idea and politics which created the glorious history of victory of the Korean revolution and the youth movement and built a youth power, the reporter said.

The WPK's idea and politics on prioritizing the youth are associated with the warm loving care, trust and noble outlook on the future of President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un, the reporter noted, and went on:

The great Comrade Kim Il Sung, after starting his revolutionary activities with the work with youth and exploring the path of the Korean revolution with the youth movement, founded the unique idea of prioritizing the youth on the basis of the Juche idea and clearly indicated the way to be followed by the youth movement in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution.

It was thanks to him that the position and role of the youth were put on the highest level as the vanguard and main unit responsible for the most difficult and labor-consuming field of the revolutionary struggle and social movement and backbone unit which would shoulder upon itself the destiny of the future for the first time in history, and this unfolded the new history of the Juche-oriented youth movement in which the young people dynamically push ahead with the revolutionary movement as vanguard.

The great Comrade Kim Jong Il who regarded it as the eternal strategic line of the WPK to prioritize the youth and put up the slogan "Love the Youth!" developed the youth league into the youth organization of the leader and trained the youth to be dependable vanguard fighters upholding the cause of the WPK in the van.

He handed over the torch of the revolution to the youth and led the youth league and the youth with his deep trust and loving care so that they might creditably perform their mission and duty as the eternal companions of the Party, reserve combat unit and detached force of the supreme commander.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the leaders' noble intention of prioritizing and loving the youth, has made great efforts to prepare the youth league and the youth as reliable reserves, advancing group and wing of the Party.

The most important achievement made by the youth league in its work during the period under review is that it has developed into the youth league of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il both in name and reality.

He said that it is an important duty facing the youth league and the young Koreans to accomplish the historic cause of national reunification as early as possible.

A report on the second agenda item was made by Kim Ju Il, chairman of the Central Auditing Commission of the youth league.

A congratulatory group of the Korean Children's Union entered the venue of the congress.

It read out a congratulatory poem "We Offer Congratulations to Elder Brothers and Sisters of Young Vanguard" addressed to the 9th Congress of the youth league.

The third agenda item was discussed at the congress.

The Central Committee of the youth league was elected.

All candidates for members and alternate members of the C.C., the youth league who had been nominated were elected members and alternate members of the C.C., the youth league with the unanimous approval of the delegates.

The Central Auditing Commission of the youth league was elected.

All candidates for members of the commission who had been nominated were elected members of the commission with the unanimous approval of the delegates.

The contents of the resolution of the First Plenary Meeting of the 9th Central Committee of the youth league were published at the congress.

The Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the youth league was elected.

Jon Yong Nam was elected first secretary of the C.C., the youth league and Pak Chol Min, Jang Hyon Chol, Pae Chung Il, Kim Kyong Jun, Ri Song Ho, Jang Yong Gil, Jong Yong Won, Ham Kwang Chol and Ri Kum Chol were elected secretaries.

The organizing committee of the C.C., the youth league was formed.

Department directors of the C.C., the youth league and editor-in-chief of newspaper Chongnyon Jonwi were appointed.

The congress announced the results of election of chairman and vice-chairmen of the Central Auditing Commission of the youth league held at the First Plenary Meeting of the 9th Central Auditing Commission.

The fourth agenda item was discussed.

A resolution on renaming the youth league "the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League" was adopted with the unanimous approval of the delegates.

Kim Jong Un handed over the flag of the youth league.

Jon Yong Nam vowed to accomplish the cause of the Juche revolution, the cause of the Songun revolution down through generations under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, reflecting the loyalty of the members of the young vanguard across the country.

The fifth agenda item was discussed.

A resolution on revising the rules of the youth league was adopted with the unanimous approval of the delegates.

The congress will go down in the history of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il youth movement as the congress of single-minded unity and congress of loyalty which powerfully demonstrated before the whole world the faith in certain victory and will of the five million members of the young vanguard to creditably discharge their duty as the reserves, advancing group and wing of the WPK in accomplishing the socialist cause of Juche.
