Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, arrived at Khasan, border town of the Russian Federation, on early morning of September 12.

The Khasan Railway Station was in a warm atmosphere of welcoming the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un paying an official visit to the Russian Federation to put the DPRK-Russia relations of friendship and cooperation on a fresh higher level.

The guard of honor of the three services of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the military band lined up at the Khasan Railway Station where the flags of the DPRK and the Russian Federation were fluttering.

The private train of Kim Jong Un entered the yard of the Khasan Railway Station at 6:00 local time.

He was greeted by Alexandr Kozlov, minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of the Maritime Territory Administration, and other senior officials in Moscow and local areas who came to Khasan to guide him.

He got off the train and exchanged warm greetings with the senior officials who came to receive him.

The senior officials warmly welcomed him on a visit to Russia again as the closest friend of the Russian people, conveying the greetings from Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, to him.

Then there took place a ceremony of welcoming Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, on his visit to the Russian Federation.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a salute from the chief of the guard of honor of the three services of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

The national anthems of the DPRK and the Russian Federation were solemnly played.

Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), left here by his train on Sunday afternoon to visit the Russian Federation.

He will be accompanied by leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs.

He was given a hearty send-off by Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the

State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, and other senior officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs.

He exchanged goodbyes with the senior officials.

The senior officials sincerely wished him good health and successful foreign visit.

Paramilitary Parade Held to Celebrate 75th Birthday of DPR of Korea

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- The DPRK, a great country whose name included "people" at the time of its founding for the first time in the history of the nation spanning 5 000 years and which has vigorously advanced towards a new victory and prosperity, paving a broad avenue for building a rich country with strong army under the noble idea of believing in the people as in Heaven and the unfurled banner of independent politics, self-supporting economy and self-reliant national defense, has greeted its 75th founding anniversary.

The people of the DPRK have brought the dignity and honor of their country, the world's only politico-ideological power and the strongest military power, to the peak of the century with the tremendous strength stemming from their firm single-minded unity under the leadership of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea. Shining in the biography of such heroic people's great struggle, victories, gigantic creation and revolution is the militant course of the Juche-oriented paramilitary forces that have firmly supported the prosperity of the country with rifle in one hand and sickle, hammer and pen in the other.

A paramilitary parade took place with splendor at Kim Il Sung Square in the capital city of Pyongyang on September 8 to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

The square, where the parade of the paramilitary forces which have performed feats in accomplishing the sacred cause of founding and developing the DPRK would take place, was full of excitement and joy of the spectators significantly celebrating the birthday of their great powerful country.

Ace air sportspersons dropped in group displaying peculiar skills while flying the national flag of the DPRK in the night sky above Pyongyang, adding to the festive mood.

An air squadron, in formation depicting the number "75", made congratulatory flight, letting off fireworks, to represent the history of the great country.

Then followed a performance of a combined military band playing military music.

With the joy of the day when the birth of an independent and sovereign state was announced to the whole world with the playing of the solemn national anthem reflecting the will of the people to outpace the whole world with the unity in their strong truth-based intention, the bandsmen represented with live melody and dynamic rhythm the nation-building history of Juche Korea which has demonstrated its might as the country of miracles and heroes for a long time, and members of the Korean People's Army guard of honor demonstrated their great rifle-handling skills.

The columns of paramilitary paraders entered the square reflecting the strength of the great power and the spirit of the brave people dashing toward the bright future by making rapid leaps forward along the road of prosperity by dint of self-reliance.

The paramilitary forces of the DPRK, the revolutionary armed force of the Party and the guards of the DPRK government, have developed into a reliable wing of the People's Army, the backbone of national defense, and into the pivotal force for the defense of the rear and home towns, under the leadership of the WPK to successfully fulfill its honorable mission and duty of defending the country and building socialism and make a great contribution to consolidating the all-people and nationwide defense system.

Invited to watch the parade were the Chinese party and government delegation led by Liu Guozhong, vice-premier of the State Council of China, and members of the Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Named after Alexandrov who are on a visit to the DPRK to celebrate the 75th birthday of the DPRK, and diplomatic envoys of China and Russia in Pyongyang.

The reserved seats were taken by the participants in the celebrations of the 75th DPRK birthday.

A ceremony for hoisting the national flag of the DPRK was solemnly held.

Holding up the national flag of the DPRK, members of the KPA honor guard, escorted by the guard of the national flag, entered the square full of joy of the people significantly celebrating the 75th birthday of their glorious country.

The sacred national flag of the DPRK shining as a symbol of justice and invincibility was hoisted slowly amid the solemn playing of the national anthem of the DPRK.

All the participants paid the highest tribute to the national flag of the DPRK, the dignified state.

Fireworks were let off to fill the square of parade with excitement and joy, along with a surge of the unshakable will of all the people to ardently love and glorify forever the socialist country, which has always emerged victorious supported by their desire and power since it was built true to their intention.

A 21-gun salute was fired amid the playing of the song "The Glorious Country".

Then followed a review of the preparations for the parade.

O Il Jong, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, reviewed the parade units which lined up to be inspected for the preparations of the paramilitary parade for celebrating the 75th birthday of the DPRK.

The grand parade of the paramilitary force, a powerful combat force spurring the thorough preparations for all-people resistance after constituting the two pillars of the armed forces of the DPRK together with the People's Army, began.

Entering the square first was the column of the division of the capital city Party members, the powerful hard core of the WPK, who have fully displayed the might of the special detachment in the forefront for defending the people as befitting the loyal guards standing closest to the Party Central Committee to safeguard the supreme general staff of the Korean revolution.

Following the column of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards (WPRG) of Pyongyang Municipality, the column of the WPRG of North Phyongan Province standing guard over the western border gateway of the country, and the column of the WPRG of South Phyongan Province, a satellite province defending the capital city of Pyongyang, marched past the square grandly, holding aloft the red flags.

The columns of the WPRG of North and South Hwanghae provinces, the outpost soldiers' units of the agricultural front playing the primary role in upholding the intention of the Party Central Committee which set the goal of grain production as the first of the 12 major goals for national economic development, went past the square.

They were followed by the columns of the WPRG in Jagang and Kangwon provinces, which marched past the square with the great pride of being the creators of the spirit of the era who became the beacon and cornerstone of the country's advance and leaps forward with the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude, eloquently proving how the revolutionary cause was defended and how the idea and line of the WPK preserved in the tempest of history.

Holding their invincible arms reflecting the appearance of the country getting stronger with the passage of time, the columns of the WPRG units in North and South Hamgyong provinces defending the nation's leading industrial complexes, those standing guard in Ryanggang Province like a strong fortress for protecting the sacred place of the revolution, the area of Paektu, and those of all municipalities under central authority marched past the square full of invincible spirit.

Spectators on the platform extended militant salute to the columns marching with a single fervent desire to fully discharge their sacred mission and duty on the two fronts of national defense and socialist construction with the pride, confidence, optimism and courage unique to the defenders of a great power dynamically advancing under the uplifted banner of socialism, and to emerge victorious by displaying the heroic spirit and mettle of the WPRG prepared as a match-for-a-hundred force when the time for a great war for national reunification comes.

The paraders chanted "Hurrah!" at the top of their voices as a token of their highest tribute to the great Party Central Committee which is ushering in a new heyday of strengthening the WPRG with its profound military theoretical wisdom and energetic leadership after setting a goal of raising the military technical might of the WPRG to the level of the People's Army in conformity with the characteristics of modern warfare and the actual conditions of the country.

The columns of the WPRG members of the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill and the Wonhwa Farm of Phyongwon County, who are renowned as innovators and bumper-harvest farmers when they work at their factory and farm, and become crack shots when they hold arms to contribute to labor and national defense, marched past the square representing the validity and vitality of the Party's Juche-oriented idea of building the militia forces.

Then the column of the WPRG unit of the State Academy of Sciences, a large contingent of scientists taking the lead in the drive for achieving the self-reliant prosperity by dint of science and technology appeared on the square, which was followed by the columns of the WPRG units of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Public Health which demonstrated their single patriotic will to devote all their wisdom, sweat and passion to ushering in a heyday of socialist culture.

The column of the Young Red Guards, cherishing the noble soul of the anti-Japanese Children's Vanguard and the wartime children's guerrillas, marched past the square in high spirit, filled with a steel-strong determination to firmly defend their campus and beloved home towns and villages.

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a letter from the participants in the international seminar on "Independence, Sovereignty and Social Development" on Sept. 3.

Noting that the DPRK has turned into a modern, developed independent and sovereign state and into a socialist state with tremendous self-defensive capabilities, including nuclear force, which the imperialists no longer dare to attack, in a short span of time, a remarkable success highlighted in the international arena, the letter said it is the fruits of the Juche idea.

The DPRK's experience serves as a good example to the world people's struggle for ending all forms of domination and realizing genuine independence, the letter stressed, adding:

The Juche idea is now recognized as the guiding idea for the popular masses struggling for liberation, sovereignty, independence and socialism. Only when they embody the Juche idea, they can build and defend their independent and sovereign state in conformity with their own demand and interests without depending on others, and contribute to building an independent world.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR HELD IN ROME, ITALY

  

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- An international seminar on "Independence, sovereignty and social development" took place in Rome on Sept. 3 to mark the 75th birthday of the DPRK, under the sponsorship of the International Institute of the Juche Idea (IIJI).

Present there were the vice-director general of the IIJI, the director general of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and personages of political and social circles and members of Juche idea study organizations in different countries including Russia, Norway, Romania, Austria, Italy and Japan.

Attending it through video conferencing were the director general and the secretary general of the IIJI, the director generals and secretary generals of the Juche idea study institutes in Asian, African and Latin American regions, the vice-chairman of the Korean Association of Social Scientists and representatives of Juche idea study organizations and personages of various circles in 60-odd countries.

Matteo Carbonelli, vice-director general of the IIJI, made an opening address at the seminar. Then, read out were the congratulatory messages from the Korean Association of Social Scientists, the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea, the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Latin American Institute of the Juche Idea.

Director General Ramon Jimenez Lopez and Secretary General Kenichi Ogami of the IIJI, and Pak Chol Jun, vice-chairman of the Korean Association of Social Scientists, made congratulatory speeches at the seminar.

Edmond Jouve, director general of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, noted in his keynote report:

The DPRK is the only country on the earth that fully exercises its rights and dignity as a sovereign state and dynamically advances along its own correct path of development.

The DPRK, which declared its birth as the first people's democratic state in the East 75 years ago, has maintained the principle of Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence in its course full of hardship and ordeals.

The exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il for the foundation and development of the DPRK and the cause of global independence will be immortal along with the strong aspiration of mankind toward independence and the future of prosperous socialist Korea.

According to the order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the tactical nuclear attack submarine No. 841, the first of its kind, was transferred to the relevant submarine squadron under the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy and named the "Hero Kim Kun Ok".

Kim Jong Un conferred the transfer certificate on the commander of the submarine squadron under the East Sea Fleet of the Navy.

He made a meaningful speech congratulating the launching ceremony.

Saying that the submarine No. 841 " Hero Kim Kun Ok" to be launched today will perform its combat mission as one of core underwater offensive means of the naval force of the DPRK, he highly praised it as the first entity, produced by the noble ideal and peerless creation struggle of the WPK and its revolutionary industrial workers, in the great cause of building an advanced maritime power.

He noted that the Party Central Committee decided to make greater leaps forward in the shipbuilding industry of the country in order to substantially guarantee a new heyday of bolstering up the naval force. There is no room to step back in the drive for the expansion of the naval vessel-building industry as it is the top priority task to be fulfilled without fail, he said, clarifying the strategic and tactical plan to continuously enhance the modernity of underwater and surface forces and push forward with the nuclear weaponization of the Navy in the future, too.

When Kim Jong Un finished his congratulatory speech, all the participants broke into cheers of "Hurrah!" to express their ardent loyalty.

The scientists, technicians and workers of the Pongdae Submarine Factory extended deep thanks to Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a heyday of bolstering up the naval force, clearly indicating the orientation of the development of the Korean-style submarine industry and the way for developing new-type submarine.

Kim Jong Un had a photo session with senior officials of the Party and the government, leading commanding officers of the Navy and senior officials of the submarine factory in commemoration of the launch.

Marshal Ri Pyong Chol ordered the launching of the submarine after being informed by the manager of the factory that it was ready to be launched.

When the signal was given, the newly built submarine was launched amid the shower of confetti and release of balloons, reflecting the excitement and joy of all the participants witnessing the historical moment of epochal significance in bolstering up the naval force.

Kim Jong Un repeatedly praised the workers in the munitions industry, saying that thanks to the inexhaustible strength and enthusiasm resulting from the loyalty and patriotism displayed by them upholding the revolutionary defence-building policy with pure conscience, sense of obligation and devoted implementation, it was possible to demonstrate the might of the country once again ahead of the 75th founding anniversary of the Republic. He expressed belief that the officials and workers of the factory would continue to add glory to their great honor as the genuine patriots contributing to the development of the naval vessel-building industry in the new century and the front-line fighters defending the arsenal for the defence of the territorial waters.

On September 7, he inspected the tactical nuclear submarine "Hero Kim Kun Ok" preparing for a shakedown cruise.

A ceremony was hosted by the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy, to which the tactical nuclear attack submarine was assigned, to greet the Supreme Commander of the DPRK armed forces at the dock.

Kim Jong Un reviewed the honor colours of the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy and the guards of honor.

He was greeted by Admiral Kim Myong Sik, commander of the KPA Navy, Vice-Admiral Kim Chang Guk, political commissar of the KPA Navy, commanding officers of the East and West Sea Fleets of the KPA Navy and military and political officers of submarine squadrons.

He entered the tactical nuclear attack submarine to acquaint himself with its weapon system and underwater operation capability.

Saying that to arm the navy with nuclear weapons arises as an urgent task of the times and a crucial requirement for building the revolutionary armed forces, the fulfillment of which brooks no further delay, he stressed the need to enable the Navy to successfully carry out its strategic duty by hastening the transfer of underwater and surface vessels equipped with tactical nuclear weapons to the Navy.

He expressed expectation and belief that the officers and sailors of the submarine would become the model of the navy and the example to the whole army not only in the politico-ideological, spiritual and moral readiness but also in rounding off the preparations for a revolutionary war and continue to create new myth of the heroic navy in the van by firmly carrying forward the great sailor spirit of the preceding generations as befitting the ones of the submarine named after Hero Kim Kun Ok, the hero commanding officer of the first generation of the naval force of the Republic.

The ceremony of launching a tactical nuclear attack submarine, held just before the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK, will be etched in the history of the country as a historic event worthy of special note in the history of bolstering up the Juche-based naval force and the history of building the state nuclear force in the great era of Kim Jong Un, and as a significant occasion that solemnly declared the start of the advance toward the attainment of the grandiose goal for turning the country into an advanced maritime power.

 

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Pukjung Machine Complex and Major Munitions Factory

 

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, inspected the Pukjung Machine Complex and a major munitions factory.

He was accompanied by Secretaries Jo Yong Won and Kim Jae Ryong, Department Director Jo Chun Ryong and Vice Department Directors Kim Yo Jong and Choe Myong Chol of the WPK Central Committee.

He was greeted by leading officials of the complex and the munitions factory on the spot.

He appreciated the workers of the complex for boosting production, true to the Party's policies of national defence and economic construction.

Looking round various production lines of the complex, he learned about the current state of technical equipment and the orientation of its technological updating.

He expressed full support and great satisfaction, acquainting himself with the production goals to be fulfilled by the Party members and other working people of the complex till the end of the year.

Noting that the complex is playing an important role that no others can replace in developing the shipbuilding industry of the country and strengthening the naval forces of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un put forward the revolutionary policy on ushering in a new era of the shipbuilding industry to the complex.

He affirmed that a future plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the WPK would set forth an important line of the modernization of the complex and the development orientation of the shipbuilding industry of the country.

Saying that the WPK firmly believes the revolutionary working class of the complex, he expressed his great expectation and conviction that the Party members and other working people of the complex with the brilliant fighting tradition of taking the lead in implementing the Party's policies of national defence and economy by fully displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance with the spirit of devoted implementation in every decade of the revolution would heartily accept the new crucial decision of the Party Central Committee reflecting the important requirements of our revolution and unconditionally respond to it with elated enthusiasm.

Then he inspected a major munitions factory.

He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the technical updating of the factory and indicated the orientation of establishing additional production capacity.

Stressing the importance of the position and role of the factory in bolstering up the armed forces of the DPRK, he expressed great expectation and belief that the workers of the factory would uphold the Party's policy of the national defence development with high abilities and through strong practice, cherishing intense loyalty to the Party and the revolution and patriotism.

JAPAN SHOULD SET PROPER COURSE

 

Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- Kim Sol Hwa, a researcher of the Institute for Japan Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, issued the following article "Japan should set proper course" on September 2:

Japan's dangerous arms buildup has gone beyond the limit that can no longer be overlooked.

It can be illustrated by the fact that the U.S. recently approved the sale of air-to-surface missiles and related equipment at the repeated request of Japan.

Japan is planning to purchase 50 missiles at the cost of 104 million U.S. dollars. The above-said missile is a long-range cruise missile (JASSM) with a range of about 900 km.

Not content with this, Japan is speeding up the development of its domestic long-range missiles.

For instance, it has stepped up the mass-production of high-speed gliding projectiles and the development of hypersonic guided missiles while extending the range of type 12 surface-to-ship guided missile, a cruise missile delivered to the ground "Self-Defense Force", to over 1 000 km and remodeling it to ensure its operation in the air and the sea, to say nothing of ground.

It is an open secret that Japan has steadily renewed and expanded its military muscle into attack type by throwing off the principle of "exclusive defense" under which Japan is constitutionally bound to give up war and has no right of war potentials and belligerency and it is allowed only to possess "the minimum defense capability" if necessary.

Japan is working hard to secure the capability for preemptive attack by massively deploying long-range missiles with the extended range and thus turn it into a country capable of fighting a war. Such behavior reminds one of the eve of the Pacific War in the past.

It is by no means fortuitous that a Japanese media deplored that Japan has come again to the "point of irrevocable return" for war or may have gone beyond it, saying that "2023 would be the eve of a new war".

All facts clearly show that Japan is buckling down to the implementation of the security strategy, the undisguised doctrine of preemptive attack and war guidelines revised at the end of last year, and that the engine of "reinvasion ship" built by Japanese militarism started operation.

What merits a serious attention is that the U.S., chieftain of aggression and war, systematically brings the "spearhead" of reinvasion to the hands of Japan keen on turning itself into a military giant, with a view to using Japan as a shock brigade for carrying out its Indo-Pacific strategy.

While praising Japan's access to "counterattack capability" as the possession of "ability for bolstering up its deterrence in the region", the U.S. revealed its attempt to strengthen the military alliance on the basis of it. And it is mulling introducing 400 Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles with a range of about 1 600 km into Japan. There are much more examples showing its sordid intention to use Japan as the cannon-fodder for a war of aggression.

Japan, which completely removed the veil of a "pacifist state" with the backing of the U.S., is seeking to revive the "Imperial Japan" which dreamed of dominating the world after occupying the vast Asian continent in the past. This is no more than a daydream.

Those countries in the region which Japan seeks to put in the firing range of long-range missiles are not the weak countries a century ago when Japan ran amuck, putting them on the altar for realizing the ambition for the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere".

Japan should prudently decide the course of its choice whether to run headlong into the abyss of ruin through its absurd arms buildup or to establish good-neighborly relations with neighboring countries and co-exist peacefully.

If Japan raises the anchor of the "reinvasion ship", despite the repeated warnings of the regional community, it will be a matter of time for it to face a wreck.

Counteraction Drill for Important Purpose Conducted in DPRK

 

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- After their adventurous large-scale joint exercises, the enemies staged again a joint guided missile firing and aerial bombing drill involving tens of different fighters for two days from August 31 to continuously escalate tensions and more openly reveal their military confrontation scheme against the DPRK.

The recklessness and dangerous nature of the confrontation hysteria recently betrayed by the U.S. and the gangsters of the "Republic of Korea" are unprecedented in history.

The Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) issued an order to conduct a relevant military drill to fully demonstrate the action will and capability to deter the enemies' attempts for a war of aggression.

In its written drill order, the WPK Central Military Commission stressed the importance of the drill and sent militant encouragement to the missile soldiers, affirming that the great power of the DPRK will soon reduce into misgivings the so-called self-pride and relieved feelings about the superiority of the combined air forces which the enemies seek to demonstrate continuously.

A firing drill for simulated tactical nuclear attack was conducted at dawn of September 2 to warn the enemies of the actual nuclear war danger.

A high-spirited strategic cruise missile-armed unit of the Korean People's Army in the western region of the country conducted the relevant military activities.

Prior to the drill, there was an inspection of the procedures for authenticating the nuclear attack order and the rapid operation normality of the technical and mechanical devices of the launch approval system, and two long-range strategic cruise missiles tipped with mock nuclear warheads were fired in an actual war environment according to rapid approval procedures.

The missile sub-unit involved in the drill fired the long-range strategic cruise missiles toward the West Sea of Korea from the mouth of the River Chongchon. The unit successfully carried out its nuclear strike mission by making sure that the missiles flied along the pattern "8" flight track simulating the distance of 1 500 kilometers for 7 672-7 681 seconds respectively and their warheads detonated at a preset altitude of 150 meters above the target island.

The Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea repeatedly stressed the need to take offensive actions for affording the understanding of the DPRK nuclear force's deterrence, calling on all the service personnel of the nuclear force to maintain high alertness and mobilized posture and make the U.S. and the military gangsters of the "ROK" more clearly understand the situation that has reached a serious threat through the overpowering exercise of the war deterrence.

The nuclear force of the DPRK will bolster up its responsible combat counteraction posture in every way to deter war and preserve peace and stability.

Press Statement by Director General of Department of Chinese Affairs of DPRK Foreign Ministry

 

Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Maeng Yong Rim, director general of the Department of Chinese Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK, issued the following press statement on August 3:

Recently, the U.S. made public "Weapons Aid Package" for providing Taiwan with weapons worth 345 million U.S. dollars, thus driving the military tensions in the Asia-Pacific region to another ignition point of war.

In less than three years since the present U.S. administration came into power, it provided military aid to Taiwan as times as the preceding administration had done.

The U.S. is planning to provide Taiwan with military aid worth 10 billion U.S. dollars for the coming five years and emergency defense aid worth a billion

U.S. dollars every year.

This constitutes a flagrant violation of the one China principle, which the U.S. committed itself before the Chinese government and people, and of the spirit of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués. It is also an interference in internal affairs of China and a grave encroachment on China's sovereignty and security.

The U.S. says in public that it abides by the principle of one China but instigates in the rear the "independence" of Taiwan, inseparable part of China. Such shameless duality and double-dealing of the U.S. are a dangerous political and military provocation totally destroying the stability of the regional situation and an anti-peace reckless act which must be condemned by the world people.

It is very natural that the Chinese government and army clearly reiterated their stand resolutely opposing the U.S. provision of weapons to Taiwan island and scathingly censured that such acts are making Taiwan a "powder keg" and "ammunition depot" and driving the situation in the Taiwan Strait to the brink of war.

While talking about the improvement of relations with China, the present U.S. administration is clinging to the Taiwan issue, the most important core interests of China. Its intention is clear.

It is the sinister intention of the U.S. to turn Taiwan into an unsinkable advanced base against China and the first-line trench for carrying out its strategy for deterring China and thus secure its hegemonic position in the Asia-Pacific region.

But the U.S. ambition for hegemony can never work on the strength of the powerful Chinese people.

What the "Taiwanese independence" separatist forces have gotten from the

U.S. arms sale to Taiwan is nothing but to turn its island into a U.S. huge old weapon exhibition and a heap of scrap iron.

If the U.S. persists in dangerous acts of provoking the core interests of China while repeatedly violating the red line set by China in the Taiwan issue, it will surely have to pay a high price for them.

The Asia-Pacific region including the Korean peninsula and the Taiwan Strait is neither a theatre of the U.S. military activity nor a test site of war.

Independent and sovereign states in the Asia-Pacific region have the strength and will to firmly defend their sovereignty and core interests from the

U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices.

We brand the U.S. moves to instigate the "Taiwanese independence" separatist forces as a wanton interference in the internal affairs of China and a grave encroachment upon its sovereignty and strongly denounce and reject them.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will fully support any measure of the People's Republic of China to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and achieve the sacred cause of the unification of the Chinese nation.
