DPRK Institutions Condemn Ulji Freedom Guardian Exercises Projected in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The provocative Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises are to be staged throughout south Korea from August 20. 30 000-strong U.S. imperialist aggressor forces, huge forces of the south Korean puppet army and service personnel of foreign countries including Australia, the U.K., Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway and France will take part in the military drills.

Bodies of the DPRK made public a joint statement on August 19 as regards the touch-and-go situation prevailing in the Korean Peninsula.

They are the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea, National Peace Committee of Korea and the National Reconciliation Council.

The statement said that the military maneuvers are a serious challenge to the public at home and abroad hoping for the peace and detente on the peninsula, and an unpardonable military provocation to the DPRK. It is also a declaration of an all-out war against it.

The statement went on:

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet regime are working hard to attain their goal for aggression at any cost by resorting to the direct use of armed forces and unleashing a war after their unsuccessful sanctions and blockade and failed attempt to stifle the DPRK.

The prevailing situation clearly shows who is the root cause disturbing the peace and security in the peninsula and who is the source and provocateur of a war.

The DPRK has Kim Jong Il's patriotism and single-minded unity more powerful than nukes.

Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un, great brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu, issued an order to the effect that if the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet regime dare preempt reckless firing, it will not be confined to a local war and the DPRK will never miss the priceless golden opportunity but lead it to a sacred war for national reunification.

If they wage the reckless war games to invade the DPRK and even a single shell is dropped on its inviolable territory or waters, its revolutionary armed forces will deal a deadly counter-strike at them and wipe out the aggressors from this land through a nationwide holy war to give vent to the wrath and condemnation of all Koreans in the south and the north and achieve the historic victory in the great war for national reunification without fail.
