October 29 (KCNA) -- There was soccer finals between April 25 and Sonbong
sports teams at the 12th People's Sports Contest of the DPRK at Kim Il Sung
Stadium Monday.
The dear respected Kim Jong Un watched the
match together with his wife Ri Sol Ju.
Among the spectators were Choe Ryong Hae, Hyon
Yong Chol, Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Yang Gon, Kim Phyong Hae, Ju Kyu
Chang, Mun Kyong Dok, officials of party and armed forces organs, ministries
and national institutions and in the field of sports, sports persons, sports
fans and people from all walks of life in Pyongyang
The April 25 team defeated the Ri Myong Su team
2:1 while the Sonbong team trounced the Maebong team 1:0 in the semi-finals
before advancing into the finals. Both teams played an excellent match.
The April 25 team scored two goals in the first
half.
The Sonbong team went over to a hot attack in
the second half, scoring a goal.
The match ended 2:1 in favor of the April 25
team.
Kim Jong Un congratulated the players on their
successful game, expressing great satisfaction over their high technique.
During a break, he met sports persons and
coaches who exalted the honor of the country by proving successful at the 30th
Olympic Games and heard with satisfaction their pledge to bag more gold medals
at future international games. He had a photo taken with them.
At the end of the football match he called
footballers and coaches of the two teams and referees and shook their hands one
by one. He praised them for playing the match very well and expressed
expectation that they would take the lead in building a sports power. He made
sure that a prize-awarding ceremony was held with splendor.
Underscoring the need to round off sports
technique, tactical system and training methods of Korean style to put the
scientific level of sports on a higher stage, he set forth highly important
tasks which would serve as a guiding principle for rapidly developing the
nation's sports.
Calling for raising public awareness of sports
and boosting state assistance, he urged the officials, in particular, to pay
deep attention to sports and render substantial help in this field.
Sports play a role which nothing can substitute
for in exalting the country's dignity and infusing national pride and
self-esteem into the people, he noted, underlining the need to give rise to a
hot sports wind throughout the country and thus demonstrate the honor of Juche Korea with
spectacular successes in matches.

October 27 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Peace Committee of Korea
(NPCK) Friday issued the following statement:
Large-scale madcap war exercises
"Hoguk" kicked off by the south Korean puppet forces together with U.S. forces against the DPRK are now going on
across south Korea.
Involved in the saber-rattling to be staged
from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2 are all regular and civilian forces including the three
services of the south Korean army, marine corps, police and reserve forces.
They number at least 240 000, over 100 000 more than those involved last year.
The on-going military maneuvers involving even U.S. imperialist aggression
forces in south Korea are now being staged under the simulated conditions of an
actual war according to the carefully worked out operational scenario for
invading the north. They include drills for sudden armed invasion such as
landing and air strike at regions of the DPRK.
All parts of south Korea are now disturbed with
madcap three dimensional war drills in the sky and on the ground and in seas.
The U.S.
and south Korean militaries held an annual security consultative meeting in Washington on Oct. 24 at
which they adopted a joint statement calling for rounding off the plans for
preemptive attack on the DPRK through various forms of joint military
exercises, talking about the "threat" from it.
The evermore tightened military tie-up between
the U.S. and south Korea and their escalating moves for a war have created such
a grave situation on the peninsula that even a small clash may spark off an
all-out war in a moment.
Their large-scale war exercises for a war
against the DPRK are an unpardonable challenge to all Koreans and the
international community desirous of peace and stability on the peninsula and a
deliberate military provocation to ignite a new war.
The on-going saber-rattling is fraught with
ever greater danger as it is under way on an unprecedentedly large scale at a
time when the inter-Korean relations have been pushed to the lowest ebb due to
the south Korean puppet group's anti-DPRK confrontation hysteria.
Before kicking off the current war drills,
traitor Lee Myung Bak ridiculously toured Yonphyong Island
to stoke extreme hostility and war fever while warmongers of the south Korean
military vied with each to inspect forefront units to kick up war hysteria.
A few days ago they openly attempted to carry
out the operations for scattering leaflets malignantly defaming the social
system in the north with despicable human scum involved.
This clearly indicates that they are escalating
their reckless provocations against the DPRK under a deliberate plan, backed by
the U.S.
The prevailing situation goes to prove that it
is impossible to ensure peace on this land and security in Northeast
Asia if the Lee Myung Bak group's desperate moves to escalate the
confrontation with fellow countrymen and the reckless war moves are left
unchecked.
Steadfast is the stand of the DPRK to protect
peace on the peninsula and security of the region.
Should the south Korean group of traitors
ignite a war to the last in conspiracy with the U.S., the DPRK will wipe out the
aggressors to the last one through all-out retaliation and merciless
counterattack.
All the service personnel and people of the
DPRK will wage a do-or-die battle against the aggressors to exalt the dignity
of the powerful Paektusan nation and thus put an end to the tragedy of national
split that has lasted for several decades and build a rich and prosperous
reunified thriving nation on this land.
The NPCK expresses expectation that all Koreans
and peace-loving people of the world will positively turn out in the just
struggle to frustrate the reckless war moves of the U.S. and Lee Myung Bak group and

Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il were erected at Kim Il Sung Military
University on the occasion of its 60th birthday.
The erection of the statues of the illustrious
commanders at the university marks a great event reflecting the steadfast will
of all the service personnel of the Korean People's Army (KPA) to glorify the
immortal Songun revolutionary exploits performed by the Generalissimos for all
ages.
A ceremony of unveiling the statues was held with
splendor on Monday.
Attending the ceremony was Marshal Kim Jong Un,
first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National
Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the KPA.
Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, Hyon Yong
Chol, Kim Jong Gak, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Yong Chun, Ri Yong Mu, Hyon Chol Hae
and O Kuk Ryol, officials of the party and armed forces, teachers and cadets of
the university, graduates, officials of military schools at all levels,
servicepersons of the KPA, military families, and officials and employees of
those units which contributed to the erection of the statues.
Present there on invitation were diplomatic
envoys of different countries, representatives of international organizations
and military attaches here.
Those who unveiled the statues were senior
party and state officials Choe Ryong Hae, Hyon Yong Chol, Kim Jong Gak, Jang
Song Thaek and Kim Yong Chun and Ryo Chun Sok, president of the university.
The moment the statues were unveiled, the
statues of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il shed bright rays.
Laid before the statues was a floral basket in
the name of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
Seen before the statues was a floral basket in
the joint name of the WPK Central Committee, the WPK Central Military
Commission and the DPRK National Defence Commission and a floral basket in the
name of the university.
Laid before the statues were floral baskets in
the names of the KPA General Staff, the KPA General Political Bureau, the
Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, different units of the KPA, military
schools, units associated with the leadership exploits of the brilliant
commanders of Mt. Paektu and faculties of the university.
All the participants paid tribute to the
Generalissimos in reverence for them.
Kim Jong Un in his speech said that Kim Il Sung
Military University is the university of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim
Jong Il both in name and reality as it was built and developed under their
energetic leadership and warm care, reviewing with pride the history covered by
the university for six decades.
The university has grown to be the nation's
highest seat for military education and prestigious, world-level university
which has a long history and opened a heyday of its development, he said, adding
that it is entirely attributable to the wise leadership of the Generalissimos.
He set forth the university's mission, duty and
tasks.
There took place a march-past of guards of
honor of the ground, naval, air and anti-air forces of the KPA, and worker-peasant
red guards.
Kim Jong Un saluted back to the marchers
passing by the tribune of honor in fine array.
The Korean People's Army Military Band and the
Female Brass Band of the Korean People's Internal Security Forces vividly
represented militant might and appearance of the elite army through the
well-organized change of formation and lively and peculiar rhythms while
sounding solemn and revolutionary military music.
At the end of the ceremony the cheers of
"Hurrah!" resounded.
Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to the
enthusiastic cheers of all the participants.
He exchanged greetings with diplomatic envoys
of different countries, representatives of international organizations and
