Kim Jong Un, chairman of the
Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the
DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, provided field guidance
to the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory.
Kim Jong Un learned in detail
about the situation of the factory and gave an instruction to turn it into a
factory producing not only souvenirs but also various consumer goods by
remodeling it as required by the new century and installing modern zipper,
melamine resin goods and other production processes in addition and took a step
for doing so.
He looked round the room
dedicated to the history of the factory. The factory, founded in December 1979
on the personal initiative of leader Kim Jong Il and under his meticulous
guidance, produces not only souvenirs for visitors to revolutionary battle
sites and historic sites, the eternal treasures of the Korean revolution, but
also various kinds of daily necessities.
Recalling that leader Kim Jong Il
highly appreciated the products of the factory during his visit to the venue of
the Pyongyang City exhibition of light industrial goods in August 1984, Kim
Jong Un said the officials and employees of the factory should never forget the
trust and loving care shown by the leader.
Then, he went round the zipper
production process, melamine resin goods production process, souvenir
production process, sample room and other parts of the factory to acquaint
himself in detail with the production of goods and their quality.
He expressed great satisfaction
over the fact that the factory newly arranged a modern technical process
capable of mass-producing plastic and metal zippers needed for bags, footwear
and sporting goods and started its operation.
He said it became possible to
provide the children and students of the country with bags made of domestic
cloth and zipper as a home-grown bag cloth production process was installed at
the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill and a Korean-style zipper production
process arranged at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory.
The factory has an important duty
to perform, he said, advancing the tasks facing it.
He said he was very pleased to
see the emergence of another mass consumer goods producer based on domestic
technology and materials.
And he had a photo session with
the officials and employees of the factory, expressing his belief that they
would fully discharge their responsibility and duty in the efforts to improve
the people's standard of living.
Accompanying him were
Vice-Chairman O Su Yong, Department Director An Jong Su and Vice Department
Directors Jo Yong Won and Pak Myong Sun of the WPK Central Committee.
