A
spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK gave the following
answer to the question raised by KCNA on July 28 as regards the fact that
recently, the special rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
on the situation of human rights in Myanmar criticized the Myanmar government
in unison with the U.S.
Recently,
the UNHRC special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar is
tightening pressure upon it, aligning herself with the sanctions and pressure
racket of the U.S. against Myanmar while politicizing “the human rights issue”
of the Rohingya, the inhabitants of Rakhine state.
At
a press conference held on July 21 after her visit to Myanmar, she sharply
criticized the human rights situation of Rohingya, far from the reality without
mentioning a single word about positive measures taken by the Myanmar
government.
Her
criticism came around the same time the U.S. representative to UN made an open
interference in the internal affairs of Myanmar on July 11 by saying that the
incidents happening in Myanmar cannot be overlooked and that the Myanmar
government should receive the investigation team of UNHRC and therefore, is
triggering the due backlash from the Myanmar government.
Her
remarks betray that she is following the U.S. in its schemes to interfere in
the internal affairs of other countries under the pretext of “human rights
protection”, in violation of the principles of impartiality and non-interference
in the internal affairs to be kept to in addressing human rights issues.
This
is another clear example which shows that the mechanism of special rapporteurs
on human rights situation of individual countries, which makes it as its
business to interfere in internal affairs of specific countries under the
direction of the U.S., does only harm and that the international human rights
organizations are kowtowing to the U.S. and playing the role as its puppets.
The
international human rights organizations should not collaborate with the
malicious moves of the U.S. to put pressure on independent countries under the
cloak of “human rights judge”, but exert every effort to respect the
sovereignty and interests of sovereign states and to realize genuine
international justice.[2]
The
DPRK government categorically rejects the interference of international human
rights organizations including the UNHRC in internal affairs of sovereign
states and will actively support and encourage the just cause of the government
and people of Myanmar in building a peaceful and democratic federal state.
