4th Plenary Meeting of 8th WPK Central Committee

 

Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) –

The 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was convened on December 27.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK, was present at the plenary meeting.

Attending the meeting were members and alternate members of the WPK Central Committee. And officials of the departments of the Party Central Committee, leading officials of ministries, national institutions, province-level guidance organs, cities, counties and major industrial establishments and officials of relevant major sectors were on hand as observers.

Upon the authorization of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, Kim Jong Un presided over the plenary meeting.

The plenary meeting is to review the implementation of main Party and state policies for the year 2021 and discuss and decide on the strategic and tactical policies and practical tasks for dynamically guiding the struggle of our Party and people to usher in a new period of the development of socialist construction to the next stage of victory.

The plenary meeting approved the agenda items and went into the discussion of them.

Second-day sitting of 4th Plenary Meeting of 8th WPK Central Committee Held

 

Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- There was the second-day sitting of the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea for indicating the new fighting guidelines for the prosperity of the country amid high political enthusiasm of the participants.

In the wake of reviewing the execution of major Party and state policies for 2021 and discussing issues related to the work plan for the New Year at the first-day sitting, the plenary meeting mainly dealt with the immediate tasks for the proper solution to socialist rural questions on Tuesday.

At the first-day sitting, General Secretary Kim Jong Un made a historic conclusion "On Direction of Party and State Work for 2022". And at the second-day sitting, he made a historic report of important significance in the socialist rural development.

He set forth medium- and long-term development strategies and major tasks for attaining the grand goal of rural development in line with the realistic conditions and the requirement of the times for the overall development of our style socialist construction, before advancing detailed ways for its implementation and taking important revolutionary measures.

The new programme on socialist rural construction won full support and approval by the participants in the meeting as it indicated the most scientific and revolutionary path for the solution to rural question in our country at present.

The meeting is continuing the discussion of the agenda items referred to it.

Chairman Kim Jong Il Opens New Era of Revolutionary Drama

 Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- Chairman Kim Jong Il performed immortal feats for the country and the revolution and opened a great heyday of Juche-oriented drama.

In the early 1970s, the dramatic art of the country remained unchanged in the outdated creation method.

After penetrating deep into the pressing requirement of the times, the Chairman unfolded a grand plan for creating new revolutionary dramas suitable to the emotion and taste of the people in the dramatic art field on November 7, Juche 61 (1972) on the basis of successes and experience gained in the film and opera revolution.

The Chairman started his guidance to the dramatic art field with the reproduction of the immortal classic "Mountain Shrine" which was personally created by President Kim Il Sung.

In those days, he gave scientific solution to theoretical and practical issues arising in creating the revolutionary drama so that a model of the Korean-style revolutionary drama could be set.

Under his detailed guidance, such immortal classics as "Blood at an International Conference", "A Letter from a Daughter", "Three Pretenders" and "Celebrations" were put on the stage and thus the five revolutionary dramas were produced.

The creation of "Mountain Shrine"-style drama was a great event heralding a new era of the Juche-oriented revolutionary drama and a milestone for the creation of the Juche-oriented dramatic art.

In the flames of the drama revolution, such works as revolutionary dramas "Following the Banner of Victory" and "Desire" and a drama reflecting the demand of the times "We Will Recollect Today" were wonderfully created and a light comedy "Echo of Mountain" was reproduced as a monumental masterpiece.

The precious tradition of the revolutionary dramatic art provided by the Chairman in his lifetime has been creditably carried forward by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Kumsusan Palace of Sun

 

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- All the people in the DPRK greatly missing Chairman Kim Jong Il, the venerable image of socialist Korea, look back upon his life with the deepest reverence for him on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his demise.

The first decade since his demise witnessed their sacred struggle for realizing his desire for building a powerful nation under the wise guidance of the Party Central Committee that opened up a new chapter of the leader's immortality.

During the struggle they keenly realized the greatness of the revolutionary exploits of the peerlessly great man for the country, the nation and humankind, hardening their belief that the history of the tender-hearted leader will go on forever.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on December 17, the greatest national memorial day.

Accompanying him were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, first vice president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Pak Jong Chon, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of the Party and the government and leading officials of the ministries and national institutions. Leading officials of the armed forces organs were present there.

The palace, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, the eternal leaders of the dignified Party, state and people of the DPRK and the great sages of the revolution, lie in state, was wrapped in the most solemn atmosphere. Placed at the statues of the President and the Chairman was a floral basket on behalf of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Laid before the statue were floral baskets in the names of the WPK Central Committee, the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK. Kim Jong Un, together with other visitors, made a deep bow before the statues of the great leaders.

At the hall, where Chairman Kim Jong Il lies in state, the General Secretary paid homage to him as a token of his best wishes for immortality to the Chairman who laid a solid foundation for eternal dignity and prosperity by dedicating all his life to the sacred cause for the country and people under the uplifted red flag of Juche.

Senior officials of the Party and the government renewed their firm pledge to fulfill the honorable mission and duty entrusted to them by the times and the revolution in the ongoing grand struggle for powerfully propelling the comprehensive development of socialist construction by increasing the strong power with which they pioneered the era of our state-first principle under the guidance of Kim Jong Un, cherishing deep in their hearts the beaming image of the Chairman.

National Memorial Service for Chairman Kim Jong Il Held

 

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Deep yearning and reverence of all the people across the country for Chairman Kim Jong Il, the eternal leader of our Party and people and great sage of the revolution, pervade the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, on the greatest national memorial day.

The whole life of Kim Jong Il who paved an untrodden thorny path with the iron will and superhuman energy, holding aloft the red flag of Juche from the first days of his great revolutionary leadership to the last moment of his life, shines as the noble revolutionary life of the outstanding leader and peerless patriot who dedicated his all to the eternal prosperity of socialist Korea, happiness of the people and accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Over the last ten years in which the holy history of the cause of perpetuating the memory of the leader has been given a steady continuity, our people have confidently advanced the socialist cause of Juche while creating epoch-making changes to be specially recorded in the 5 000-yearold national history under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, cherishing the august name of the sun of Kim Jong Il as the banner of invincibility and regarding his behests as the lifeline.

A national memorial service for Chairman Kim Jong Il took place at the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in a solemn atmosphere on December 17, the 10th anniversary of his demise.

Attending the service were officials of the Party and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and armed forces organs, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Public Security Forces, officials and working people in Pyongyang City.

The venue of the service where the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il was displayed was wrapped in the most solemn atmosphere.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, took the platform of honor.

Accompanying him were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, first vicepresident of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jo Yong Won member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, and Pak Jong Chon, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK.

Seen on the platform were Ri Il Hwan, Jong Sang Hak, O Su Yong, Thae Hyong Chol, Kim Jae Ryong, O Il Jong, Kim Yong Chol, Jong Kyong Thaek, Kim Yo Jong, Kim Song Nam, Ho Chol Man, Pak Thae Tok, Kim Hyong Sik, Yu Jin, Pak Myong Sun, Ri Chol Man, Jon Hyon Chol, Pak Jong Gun, Yang Sung Ho, Ju Chol Gyu, Ri Son Gwon, U Sang Chol and Kim Yong Hwan who are senior officials of the Party and the government, Pak Yong Il, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, and officials and persons of distinguished services who set examples in carrying out the behests of Chairman Kim Jong Il and the tasks for the first year of the five-year plan set forth at the 8th Party Congress.

 

Taking the platform were also officials of the armed forces organs including Kwon Yong Jin and Ri Yong Gil.

Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., WPK, declared the national memorial service open.

All the participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Chairman Kim Jong Il with deepest reverence.

The "Song of General Kim Jong Il" was played there.

Choe Ryong Hae made a memorial address "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il will always be with our people".

The speaker said that after starting his unusual life in Mt Paektu, the sacred mountain of the revolution, Kim Jong Il set it as his lifelong cause to build a powerful and prosperous people's country on this land and devoted all his life to the struggle for realizing it.

He highly praised the immortal revolutionary feats of Kim Jong Il who firmly defended the country, the nation and socialism of Juche with his firm faith in independence and iron pluck throughout the period of his revolutionary leadership and created epochal miracles in building a powerful country to put our country on the position of a dignified power.

Kim Jong Il is always with us, and the powerful socialist country wished for by him will surely be built as there is the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. This is a revolutionary faith kept deep by our people through the past decade-long struggle, the speaker stressed.

The speaker called on all the Party members, other people and service personnel of the People's Army to uphold Kim Jong Il as the eternal sun of Juche and vigorously struggle for a new brilliant victory of socialism and for steady advance of the Juche revolution under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

The memorial service ended with playing of the song "The General Is Immortal as the Sun".

A gun volley for the dead was fired in memory of Kim Jong Il.

All the participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of

Kim Jong Il with their firm faith and will to add eternal luster to his noble revolutionary career and undying revolutionary exploits for all ages.

Only victory and glory will be in store for our people dashing forward to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche while adding eternal shine to the era of our state-first principle true to the idea and leadership of  

Kim Jong Un with single mind.

NIGERIANS COMMEMORATES 10 YEARS SINCE DEATH OF H.E. KIM JONG IL

Nigerians from all works of life troop to the embassy of the DPR of Korean in Nigeria's capital city-Abuja to commemorate the tenths anniversary of the passing away of the Eternal Chairman, National Defense Commission of the DPR of Korea, The Eternal Secretary General of the WPK.                       

The event witnessed participants from officials of the Nigerian National Committee on the Study of Kimilsongism and Kimjongilism led by Prof. Alhassan Mamman Muhammd and Dr. Nicholas Ikwenagwu, students of the University of Abuja, representatives of political parties as well as government officials.

Recalling about Chairman Kim Jong Il

 

Ten years have elapsed since Kim Jong Il (1942-2011), the eternal Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, passed away.

Following are the reminiscences of Kim Jong Il by international figures.

 

Umalatova’s Reminiscences

 

What was Kim Jong Il like seen by Sazhi Umalatova, chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia?

Kim Jong Il was a staunch defender of justice and truth.

When socialism began to collapse in succession in the East European countries including former Soviet Union in the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, Kim Jong Il encouraged the socialists in Russia and saved them from spiritual wandering.

Umalatova saw the profile of the saviour and defender of socialism while reading the books written by Kim Jong Il, including The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party, Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable and Socialism Is a Science.

His firm political conviction and will dealt a severe blow at the renegades of socialism and capitulationists and instilled a hope for the revival of socialism in the people who were aspiring after progress.

What Umalatova, a Leftist figure, could not forget was his ennobling human traits transcending ideology, ideal, political view and religious belief.

Like many Russians, she still remembered August 4, 2001, when Kim Jong Il visited the Lenin Mausoleum in Red Square in Moscow. When the career and exploits of Lenin, the pioneer of the socialist cause and leader of the international working class, were being debased by the renegade socialists and they were even insisting that the mausoleum should be moved from Red Square, Kim Jong Il visited the mausoleum and paid tribute to his memory.   

She recalled: I am an atheist but I revere Chairman Kim Jong Il as a divine being; he was a politician of strong conviction and a leader who would carry out his position to the end.

 

Yazov’s Reminiscences

 

Marshal Dmitry Yazov, former USSR Defence Minister, wrote in his memoir: It was a great pleasure in my life to get acquainted with Comrade Kim Jong Il; as the 13^th defence minister of the former Soviet Union, I was attracted to him while meeting him several times during my visits to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; the resourcefulness and courage of a great commander is estimated in a war or military expedition where rise and fall of a nation is decided; then, who is a great commander in modern times when political confrontation and military situation are acute? I dare say that Comrade Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, is a man of that type.

A veteran military expert with rich battle experience and military knowledge, which he had gained through his lifetime service in the army, recognized the outstanding military talent and achievement of Kim Jong Il, which would shine for ever in the world military history.

He recalled the whole process of the DPRK-US confrontation in the 1990s.

As the world knows, many military experts and analyzers characterized the confrontation in early 1993 as an event full of dramatic shocks and sensations.

A military conflict was unavoidable owing to the all-out political and military offensive and collective sanctions on the part of the forces hostile to the DPRK, and the international community was concerned and worried about the possible gun sound on the Korean peninsula and its chain reaction in the international arena. But the situation changed dramatically: the tense confrontation was peacefully removed; government-level delegates of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the United States sat at the negotiating table, and the DPRK-USA joint statement was made public for the first time in the history of bilateral relations; the US president sent a letter of assurance to Kim Jong Il, supreme leader of the DPRK, and many other miraculous events took place. 

The United States, the “only superpower” in the world, lost the showdown.

Kim Jong Il defended the sovereignty and dignity of his country and changed the dynamic structure of the Korean peninsula with iron will and courage and outstanding insight. He won without firing a shot by combining hard and soft lines.

Such ability is not easy to find in the world military history and in other great commanders.

Hair-trigger situations were created on the Korean peninsula for several times later, but a war did not break out thanks to his military strategy. 

The world community recognized that the factor was the decisive role      Kim Jong Il had played. 

Yazov said that history recorded no great man possessed of perfect political qualifications as the leader of a nation and ability of a brilliant commander other than Kim Jong Il.

 

Vishwanath’s Statement

 

Kim Jong Il was a man sent by heaven to serve mankind; such a great man is born once in ten centuries–this was what Vishwanath, a prominent social figure in India, said when Kim Jong Il passed away.

He stated.

It was entirely thanks to the wisdom of Chairman Kim Jong Il that there had been no gun sound of a third world war or a world nuclear war on the Korean peninsula, the hotspot in the world. He prevented the wars by turning his country into a military power; had Kim Jong Il failed to turn his country into one with a great military capability (though this could never happen) and had the United States unleashed a war on the Korean peninsula, the three gigantic transformations–material prosperity, technological leap and spiritual civilization–which the world has achieved in a peaceful environment over half a century at the highest-ever level in their thousands of years of history would have been unthinkable on this planet; the DPRK is willing to launch missiles over the Pacific and fight an all-out, missile war against the US if the latter launches a preemptive strike; its great spear, called ICBM, will make the first great hole in the golden shield, called NMD of the US, in order to defend sovereignty of the country; as a result, though the US is controlling the world at will and occupying medium-sized and small countries by resorting to political high-handedness and military arbitrariness, this high-handedness and arbitrariness are nothing but a broken sword in front of Korea; having saved the whole world from the “earthquake” of a war to be caused by tens of thousands of nuclear bombs is the political weight of the ever-victorious politics pursued by the DPRK. 

Indeed, Kim Jong Il was a messiah who, by victoriously leading the DPRK-US showdown, defended the safety of 200-odd countries of the world and secured peace for billions of people.

Persons with Disabilities Are Also Masters of Society

 

December 3 is the international day of persons with disabilities.

In October 1992 the 47^th Session of the UN General Assembly designated this day with the purpose of raising the social awareness of and concern for the problem of persons with disabilities, defending their rights of and encouraging them to participate in social life including politics, the economy and culture.

On this occasion we will see the situation of the person with disabilities in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The DPRK respects the personality of persons with disabilities and ensures their socio-political rights and interests by law.

The Labour Law for Factory and Office Workers in North Korea, promulgated in June 1946 after the liberation of the country from the military occupation by Japan, advanced measures for providing living conditions for persons disabled while working and by vocational disease; this was the beginning of protection of persons with disabilities in this country.

Later, the Law of the DPRK on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities was promulgated.

This law, which regulates the standard of the law on the protection of persons with disabilities, their rehabilitation, education and cultural life, labour and so on, contains articles on protecting their rights and interests in all sectors of social life and providing them with more stable and convenient living environment and conditions.

The Cabinet of the DPRK issued as its decision the Regulations for the Implementation of the Law on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities.

Modern prosthetic appliances factories have been built in several parts of the country, and a well-regulated national rehabilitation system for persons with disabilities is in place.

The Korean Association for Supporting Persons with Disabilities, organized in 1999, was reorganized in 2005 as the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled for the provision of better living conditions and environment for persons with disabilities.

The Central Committee of the KFPD carries on the work of improving the contents of vocational education in special schools for persons with disabilities and, at the same time, leads the vocational schools for the disabled to teach diversified knowledge of various sectors to the graduates of those special schools so that they could lead a diversified working life after graduation. In order to bring the hopes for art of persons with disabilities into full bloom, special schools including Taedong School for the Bind and Songchon School for the Deaf and Dumb are putting their artistic activities on a regular footing; on the other hand, the Korean Art Association of the Disabled is making the arts specialized by persons with disabilities. The Korean Sports Association of the Disabled is increasing the number of sport events for persons with disabilities, including table tennis, swimming, shooting and archery and is paying great efforts to raising promising sportspeople among them, with the result that great successes have been achieved in international sports games of the disabled.

The audience who saw the international tour performance of Pyongyang exchange group said that it was unbelievable they performed musical instruments and dancing as good as professional artistes, it reflects the realities of Korea where a protection policy for persons with disabilities is fully ensured.

Persons with disabilities in the DPRK are proud of the fact that they are also masters of society free from all cares in social life. They believe that they can, and should, also devote themselves to the development of society, for society expects them to do so and provides them with every necessary condition.

Opening a New Era of Development of External Relations

 

Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, elected head of state ten years ago, has made an outstanding contribution to defending international justice and achieving global peace by conducting energetic external activities.

 

Strategic Diplomacy Towards Major Powers

 

On the basis of a correct analysis and judgment of the balance of forces and developments in the world political arena, Kim Jong Un conducted external activities with the major powers in the region, thus strengthening cooperation with these countries and contributing to ensuring security and safeguarding peace on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia.

First, he attached great importance to the special traditional relationship between his country and China and strengthened the relationship of friendship and cooperation between the two countries through diplomacy between heads of state.

He met President Xi Jinping of China several times, in Pyongyang, Beijing and Dalian, and has in-depth discussions with him on the problems related with strengthening strategic understanding between the two countries and keeping step with each other in the international arena.

He also conducted energetic external activities with Russia, consolidating the traditional relations between his country and the Russian Federation.

He met President Putin in Vladivostok and discussed the problems of common concern in the international political arena and cooperation between the two countries for the development in the region.

With the relationship between the DPRK and People’s Republic of China and between the DPRK and the Russian Federation becoming closer, the strategic balance between the forces surrounding the Korean peninsula was achieved, and an international situation favourable for defending the stability and peace of the world created.

The news that he met President Xi Jinping several times a year and met President Putin in a city not far away from the DPRK drew special attention of the international society.

The world media organs called his activities with China and Russia as “diplomacy attaching more importance to contents than to form” and “pragmatic diplomacy.”

What is clear is that the mode of his diplomatic activities proved quite effective in deepening friendship between the heads of state, further developing bilateral relations and achieving substantial results.

 

World-Shaking Diplomacy Towards the United States

 

Kim Jong Un presented his image in front of the world as an innovative and flexible state leader with positive diplomacy towards the United States.

As everybody knows, the relationship between the DPRK and the United States has been most hostile on this planet over the past 70 years.

Regarding the DPRK as a thorn in its flesh, the United States has resorted to every conceivable means and method to suffocate the country, which is invariably following the road of independence and socialism.

The DPRK’s response to it has been something beyond imagination. As the United States resorted to nuclear threats, it has possessed the capability with which to make an annihilatory retaliation against the US mainland.

The bilateral relations, which were growing more aggravated, were a source of the gravest threat not only to the situation on the Korean peninsula but global peace and security, arousing a growing concern among the international community.

Around this time, Kim Jong Un arranged summit meetings with the United States several times with courageous and proactive proposals, striking the world with wonder.

The world media reported that the first DPRK-US summit meeting in Singapore on June 12, 2018 was recorded in history as a “handshake of the century,” a “short but great handshake,” which brought down the barriers of the cold war lasting for about 70 years and whose meaning had surpassed that of the “Beijing handshake” between Mao Zedong and Nixon in 1972 and of the “Reykjavik handshake” between Gorbachev and Reagan in 1986. The world commented the first-ever DPRK-US summit meeting as a “super-realistic and historic event,” “convulsions of nature,” “world-shaking event” and “a meeting to be dealt with in the history books and world history textbooks.”

The three rounds of subsequent DPRK-US summit showed the world that the conflict and dispute between the two most hostile countries in the world could be fully resolved by the diplomatic, ie, peaceful methods, not by military methods.

 

For Unity and Cooperation with Other Countries

 

It is a consistent stand of the DPRK to develop, under the ideals of independence, peace and friendship, cooperative relations with all the countries which are friendly towards it and strive for global independence on the basis of the principle of equality and mutual benefit.

In his report to the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea on the work of the Party Central Committee, Kim Jong Un clarified the external policy of the WPK for consolidating friendship and unity with all the countries which respect the sovereignty of his country and for achieving genuine international justice.

He vigorously worked to strengthen unity and solidarity with socialist countries which shared the ideals of his country.

He conducted energetic external activities–raising unity and cooperation with socialist China, a neighbouring country, onto the highest level possible, receiving the Cuban leader who visited his country with warm feelings of comradeship and paying an official goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Thus he created a good atmosphere for socialist countries, to strengthen solidarity, supporting and teaming up with each other.

In addition, he ensured that his country developed relations of friendship and cooperation with all countries that are friendly to it.

Thanks to his energetic external activities, the external prestige of the DPRK has increased remarkably.
