BRILLIANT ACHIEVEMENTS

During his chairmanship Kim Jong Il, shouldering the destiny of socialist Korea, defended socialism amidst the severe trials and hardships unprecedented in history and developed the DPRK into an invincible political and military power that no one in the world dares attack.

NDC Chairman Kim Jong Il embodied Songun politics in a comprehensive way.

Gaining a deep insight into the law-governed course of carrying out the socialist cause which is accompanied by the fierce anti-imperialist struggle, he developed the idea and line of giving precedence to arms and military affairs run through the revolutionary history of Korea as required by the prevailing situation into the Songun idea and the theory of Songun politics. And, based on it, he defined Songun politics as the main political mode of socialism and implemented it in every way.

Therefore, the DPRK revised its Socialist Constitution in which it defined the National Defence Commission as the supreme administration organ of military affairs of the state and enhanced the position and authority of the NDC and established a new state administration system with the NDC as its pivot. Since Songun politics was legalized as the main mode of politics and enforced in all spheres of the state building and activities, the DPRK could further cement its state and social systems and provide a sure guarantee for defending the national sovereignty and advancing the socialist cause along the road of victory in whatever severe difficulties and ordeals.

Chairman Kim Jong Il built up the country’s military capabilities in every aspect.

He clarified the principle of Songun that the army is the Party, the state and the people and built up the Korean People’s Army, the core of the country’s self-reliant defence, to be an invincible army prepared politically and ideologically, militarily and technically. Through his ceaseless inspections on the army units he ensured that the political work among the KPA service personnel was intensified radically so as to make all of them strong in ideology and faith. At the same time he made sure that the KPA was equipped with its unique strategies and tactics to meet the features of modern warfare and prepared militarily and technically on a higher level.

Under his wise leadership the KPA has grown to be an elite force for defending their leader unto death and an invincible one equipped with both attack and defensive means strong enough to defeat any formidable enemy at a strike. Thanks to the consolidation of the all-people and nationwide defence system the arming of all the people was realized at an unprecedented height and the fortification of the whole country with perfection. Self-supporting defence industry of the DPRK has been developed to produce sufficient amounts of military equipment and hardware needed for strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities. The DPRK is now demonstrating its might as a missile power and a nuclear power capable of punishing mercilessly anyone who dares infringe upon its dignity wherever he might be on this planet.

Chairman Kim Jong Il also consolidated the country’s political and ideological position as firm as a rock.

Putting up the KPA as the pillar of the socialist cause and the main force of the revolution, he paid deep attention to building up the political force of the Korean society with the KPA as the core. He rallied broad sections of the people firmly around the Workers’ Party of Korea by realizing his politics of love and trust and placed the traditional army-people unity onto a higher level.

Thus, all the service personnel and people have formed an integral whole sharing the same purpose, will and destiny with the Workers’ Party of Korea and the army-people unity has been further enhanced in which they have achieved oneness of ideology and work style on the pattern of the revolutionary soldier spirit. Such single-hearted unity is the strongest political and ideological might, more powerful than nuclear weapons, in the world.

Chairman Kim Jong Il ushered in a new era of the building of a thriving socialist country.

He put forth the economic construction line in the Songun era of developing the defence industry first while simultaneously developing light industry and agriculture. He saw to it that the defence industry played the vanguard role in shoring up the overall national economy and developing it. On the other hand he ensured that the KPA made breakthroughs in the most challenging and important sectors of economic construction and all the people, modelling themselves after the indomitable revolutionary spirit of the KPA soldiers, created innovations across the country.

Under his sagacious leadership Korean army and people reconstructed and modernized a lot of production bases with one mind and will and conducted large-scale projects of land realignment and gravitational waterway construction, in the course of which the appearance of the country was spruced up and material and technical foundations for the building of a thriving country consolidated. All the sectors of economic and cultural construction in Korea witnessed their upswings through numerous structures newly built across the country and the streets, villages and houses transformed into socialist fairyland.

Indeed, Chairman Kim Jong Il achieved immortal exploits which will shine forever in history.

That is why the Korean people uphold him as the eternal Chairman of the NDC.
