Kim Jong Un Inspects General Tree Nursery under Construction
Kim Jong
Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea,
first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of
the Korean People's Army, inspected the general tree nursery now under
construction by the KPA.
Commanding a bird's eye view of the general tree
nursery, he said it is a patriotic legacy of leader Kim Jong Il who had made devoted efforts to turn the country into a
socialist fairyland covered with green woods, paying deep attention to the
afforestation all his life.
He called upon the officials and employees of the
nursery and relevant units to carry forward the patriotic exploits of Kim Jong Il by implementing his behest
to the letter.
Then he went round different places of the nursery
to learn in detail about its construction and management.
Appreciating the environment control system
established at the sapling greenhouse, he said the greenhouse appealed to him
as it, with an area of 3000 square meters, is able to produce hundreds of
thousands of saplings in a year.
He noted with satisfaction that the nursery
proceeded with the work to cultivate and propagate trees of good species with
great economic value and established an impeccable process for producing
humus-pots of saplings.
The nursery has a very important role to play in
turning the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery, he said, giving
precious instructions for its smooth management and operation.
Stressing the need to update the nursery, he said
that more greenhouses should be built and its production base expanded so as to
turn out ten millions of saplings in a year.
He urged the nursery to grow more saplings of
species for timber forests and ornament, perfect the method for planting trees
in disregard of seasons and push ahead with the work to produce sapling
containers with various materials.
The general tree nursery should build up its
scientific and technological forces and have necessary facilities in order to
discharge its mission as not only a producer of saplings but also a base for
research and dissemination of science and establish a Korean-style system for
research and dissemination of science so that lower units can carry on the
production of saplings and their manuring and cultivation as required by
science and technology, he said.
It is the Party's fixed resolve and will to turn
all the mountains of the socialist country into treasure and golden mountains
covered with green woods true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, he said, adding: We can
never hand down naked mountains to the coming generation in an irresponsible
manner.
The forest restoration should be carried through
persistently as it is a long-term and strategic work, he stressed.
He said that all sectors and units should regard
the forest restoration as an important policy and strategic task and the People's
Army, in particular, should play a vanguard role in turning the country's
mountains into a patriotic woodland covered with thick forests.
