JAPAN URGED TO SETTLE PAST CRIMES AGAINST
HUMANITY
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry
of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on January 1
in connection with the fact that Japan is trumpeting about “striking” a deal
with south Korea over the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese
Army:
After an agreement with south Korea
to “strike” a deal over the issue, the Japanese authorities are making a litany
of assertion that “the issue of comfort girls has seen a final and irreversible
solution”, according to reports.
The recent agreement to cover up
Japan’s hideous acts of sexual slavery in return for spurious “apology” and a
few pennies can never be tolerated as it is a product of political bargaining
defying international justice and the just demand of victims.
What is noteworthy is that the US
extended “congratulations” and touted “support for overall implementation” over
the recent agreement. The US has egged south Korea on to “strike” the deal over
the “issue of comfort girls for the Imperial Japanese Army” in order to keep
Japan and south Korea in triangular alliance for aggression being spurred by
it.
The crime related to the sexual
slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army is neither an issue which can be settled
with the help of control or mediation by a specified country nor an issue that
can be settled by coaxing the half-witted party with a few pennies.
The crime related to sexual
slavery which Japan committed against women of various countries of the world
including 200 000 Korean women is a hideous international crime against
humanity, and the victims are also in Asia and Europe, not only in the north
and the south of Korea. The victims have consistently demanded the assailant Japanese government acknowledge the state legal and moral responsibilities make heart-felt apology and reparation and take earlier measures for the reinstatement of the honour of the victims and for the prevention of the recurrence of similar crimes. The issue can never be settled unless this demand is met.
Japan has to
acknowledge state and legal responsibilities for the war crimes and other
heinous crimes against humanity including the crime related to the sexual
slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army and make thorough-going apology and
reparation to be understandable by all the victims.
