Comrade Kim Jong Un Cuts Ribbon at Inauguration Ceremony of Pothong Riverside
Terraced Residential District
Pyongyang,
April 14 (KCNA) -- A distinctive terraced residential district has been built
on a scenic bank of the Pothong River in Pyongyang, the capital city of the
DPRK, amid ceaseless erection of monumental edifices symbolic of the
development of civilization of Korean-style socialism under a grandiose plan
for national prosperity unfolded at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of
Korea (WPK).
The
Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District, completed to bring about
another dramatic change in Pyongyang, is a proud edifice of the new era that
vividly represents the people-first idea of the Party Central Committee
regarding it as its long-cherished desire to provide the people with the best
material and cultural welfare in the world and its strategy for the development
of Juche-oriented architecture.
The
respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who considers the people's laughter and
happiness to be a criterion for assessing the national power, initiated the
building of a luxurious residential district, which will serve as a fresh
springboard for the country's architectural development, in order to present it
to the persons of merit who contributed to the prosperity and development of
the country. He personally organized and guided the whole process of its
construction as a designer, owner and operator of the project.
The
district, to which formative art, practicability and convenience are applied at
the highest level, has taken its shape at a time-honored fine location in the
center of the capital city under the warm care of the great Party Central
Committee as a new model of housing construction and a world of fantasy in
which people happily enjoy a new civilization of socialism.

with profound reverence for him who makes indefatigable efforts to glorify the
country as the world's best people's country, powerful and highly civilized,
with his great love for the people and noble spirit of serving them.
The
national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played. Jo Yong Won addressed the
ceremony.
Referring
to the great excitement at the emergence of a luxurious street under socialism,
which epitomizes the Party Central Committee's noble outlook on the people, in
a sacred site associated with the great leader's revolutionary life, Jo Yong
Won stressed that it is the firm will of the Party Central Committee and the
consistent policy of the government of the Republic to make the people
supporting the Party and the state with their painstaking efforts enjoy the
best civilization before anyone else would do, considering that their
dedication of sweat and conscience to the sake of the country is more valuable
than a thousand pieces of gold.
The
completion of the Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District intuitively
shows that the day when everyone will enjoy a highly civilized and happy life
is not far away in time, and further boosts the patriotic zeal, creativity and
morale of all the people to spruce up their own houses by their own efforts, he
noted.
Saying
the owners of Kyongru-dong should continue to add glory to their worthwhile
life as treasures of the country and standard-bearers of their collective,
never forgetting the current excitement, he expressed belief that Kyongru-dong
would be eternally admired as a residential area of genuine patriots dedicating
their pure conscience and fervent enthusiasm to the prosperity of the country
along with its elegant name.
The
respected General Secretary cut the inaugural tape.
At
that moment, thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!" reverberated throughout
the ceremonial ground with fireworks set off and countless balloons released,
gorgeously decorating the sky above the Pothong River where a new legend of
love for the people in the era of the Workers' Party has been created.
This

single-mindedly and devotedly upholding the idea and leadership of the

a highly-civilized, prosperous and powerful country, by devoting himself to the
sake of his beloved people, always placing them in his heart.
The
respected General Secretary warmly waved back to the loudly cheering crowds.
A
touching spectacle showing the great love for the people was witnessed at
Kyongru-dong, every nook and cranny of which is filled with the boundless
benevolence of the respected General Secretary who deems the working people's
patriotic enthusiasm and sincere efforts priceless.
The
respected General Secretary met and warmly congratulated the persons of merit,
including Ri Chun Hi and Choe Song Won, chief announcers of the Central
Broadcasting Committee of Korea, and Tong Thae Gwan, a member of the editorial
board of the Rodong Sinmun, who were among the cheering crowds.
Holding
hands of Ri Chun Hi making a deep bow to him as an expression of her deep
gratitude for having received a marvelous dwelling house, he went to Block No.
7 of Kyongru-dong where she would live in.
Witnessing
such a touching sight, in which the top leader of a country shares feelings
with people, the participants in the event raised louder cheers.
Looking
round the family room and other living rooms in her house, the respected
General Secretary listened to the impressions of her family members with
fatherly care and took a measure of benevolence so that the aged announcer
would not feel any inconvenience while going up and down the stairs in her
house.
The
veteran announcer told him in excited tones that her house with all amenities
is just like a hotel and all members of her family stayed up all night in tears
of deep gratitude for the Party's benevolence.
Hearing
her words in joy, the General Secretary said it is the sincerity of the Party
that there is nothing to spare for the treasures of the country like her who has
worked as a revolutionary announcer for the Party for more than 50 years since
her girlhood. And he highly praised her for speaking to the world the voice of
the Party and Juche Korea with youthful mettle and enthusiasm despite her age
nearing eighty.
Noting
that the veteran women announcers, whom the Party is proud of, are doing very
important work of informing the world of the policies of the Party and the
state and the prestige of the country, he placed deep trust on them, saying
that they should not only achieve continuous successes in their job with ardent
passion but also do their bit in training younger announcers who would shoulder
the future of broadcasting.
Expressing
expectation that she would as ever vigorously continue her work in good health as
befitting a spokeswoman for the Party Central Committee, he had a photo taken
with her family.
He
also visited the houses of Choe Song Won and Tong Thae Gwan to warmly
congratulate their families on moving into new houses before having photos
taken with them.
Acknowledging
the bows they repeatedly made in tears, gripped by profound gratitude, he told
them that such phrase as a world for the people is not merely a slogan to our
Party, in which a climate of unconditionally serving the people has been established,
and our people, who firmly uphold their sovereignty with their own efforts, are
the full- fledged owners who deserve a happy and highly civilized life.
He
said that he misses President Kim Il Sung more than ever before as a luxurious
residential district has been built at a site associated with the President's
revolutionary life on the occasion of the significant Day of the Sun.
Stressing
that it is a filial duty and noble obligation of the descendents of the
President to live up to his expectations, the respected General Secretary said
that our Party, true to the intention of the President, built a fine street for
the people whom he had loved so much all his life and he would have been
satisfied to see the cozy dwellings built for the patriots and persons of merit
in the place where his residence had once located.
Warmly
holding the hands of persons of merit who were following him step by step,
reluctant to be away from him, he repeatedly wished them a happy future and
promised them that he would make time to visit their houses again in the
future.
After
the ceremony Pyongyangites looked around the dwellings with their owners.
Looking
at the palatial dwelling houses with all amenities in admiration, they keenly
realized the noble intention and warm benevolence of the Party Central
Committee which set the construction for the happiness of the people as a
far-sighted patriotic work for bringing about a future of high civilization.
They
hardened their confidence in the future of the country which will turn brighter
under the leadership of the great Party in the residential district where the
Juche-oriented and popular characters peculiar to our Party and state, Korean-style
charms and features and the development trend of modern architecture are
successfully embodied.
The
Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District, a new scenery of Pyongyang
symbolizing the great era of Kim Jong Un, will shine as an edifice representing
Korean-style civilization, demonstrating the people-first idea of the Party
believing in the people as in Heaven and the indomitable spirit of socialist
Korea which is making leaping progress on the great strength of self-reliance.
