KIM JONG UN VISITS HOUSES FOR EDUCATORS OF KIM IL SUNG UNIVERSITY

Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited the construction site of apartment houses for educators of Kim Il Sung University near completion.

44 storied and 36 storied apartment houses for educators based on wonderful formative art have a laundry, a public bath and various other public service facilities and a small park.

There are peculiarly built indoor resting places on the 17th and 30th floors of the 44 storied apartment house and on the 14th and 27th floors of the 36 storied apartment house where educators and their families can have a pleasant rest.

He visited the construction site in August last and instructed the builders to successfully complete the project by the anniversary of the Party so that the houses might be provided to teachers and researchers as gifts. He gave precious instructions concerning the work to wind up the construction.

He was satisfied to see the exterior of the apartment houses peculiarly decorated with color tiles and hard glass. He looked round several flats on the third floor of apartment house No. 2 to learn in detail about the construction.

Going round the living room, kitchen, study and bedroom one by one, he said they are properly fitted with furniture according to the design he had already ratified, the floors are covered with quality material and the colors and patterns of the wallpapers gave the feeling of comfort.

He promised to provide every household with a TV set and more sets of varieties of tableware as he had said.

He told officials to fix a bookshelf to the wall of the study in front the table so that teachers and researchers may study and prepare their teaching plans in their houses without any inconvenience and a round mirror to the wall of the corridor to their convenience.

He went up to several floors one by one to learn in detail about the construction. He went round the indoor resting place on the 17th floor.

The indoor resting place has been successfully built so that teachers and researchers may have stroll, reading and amusement games and their children may play to their satisfaction, he said.

He went out to the veranda to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the cityscape. He was pleased that the apartment houses are located in a good place and their appearance made the Ryonghung Crossroads look nicer.

He said there is nothing to spare for teachers and researchers of the university who train scientific talents who will be responsible for the future of the country in the age of knowledge-based economy, age of campaign of brains.

He expressed expectation and conviction that educators of Kim Il Sung University would achieve bigger successes in the education of younger generation and training of talents true to the party's intention.

He was accompanied by Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK; Ma Won Chun, vice department director of the C.C., the WPK; Thae Hyong Chol, president of Kim Il Sung University; and Kim Thae Hi, chief secretary of the party committee of the university

STATUE OF KIM JONG IL UNVEILED AT KIM IL SUNG UNIVERSITY

Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The statue of leader Kim Jong Il has been erected at Kim Il Sung University, the highest seat for Juche-based education and science.

The statue depicts Kim Jong Il who started his revolutionary activities at the university.

The erection of his statue at the university helps it to glorify for all ages the feats he performed in training revolutionary talents for the building of a thriving nation and developing education and science as the university of President Kim Il Sung and the leader.

An unveiling ceremony took place Tuesday, the anniversary of the university.

Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae and other senior officials of the party, state and army, officials of party and power bodies, ministries and national institutions, teachers and students of the university and other universities in Pyongyang, officials and employees of the units which contributed to erecting the statue, officials and those of meritorious service of organs, factories and enterprises in the city.

Also present there were diplomatic envoys, representatives of international organizations and members of military attaches corps here, foreign guests staying here and foreign students studying at the university.

The statue was unveiled by Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Ki Nam and others.

When the statue was unveiled, the statue of Kim Jong Il threw its brilliant rays.

The moment, the participants broke into cheers of "hurrah" fireworks were displayed and balloons released.

A floral basket bearing the august name of Marshal Kim Jong Un was laid before the statue.

Also laid were a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet and a floral basket in the name of Kim Il Sung University.

Placed before the statue were floral baskets in the name of ministries, national institutions, universities, organs, enterprises and factories in Pyongyang and colleges and faculties of the university.

All the participants made a bow to the statue in humblest reverence.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made an address.

It was the unanimous wish of the teachers, students and graduates of Kim Il Sung University and their parents and all other people to erect the statue of Kim Jong Il together with the statue of Kim Il Sung at the university, he said.

Their ardent desire has been successfully realized at the initiative of Kim Jong Un and thanks to his meticulous guidance, he noted.

He called upon all people to firmly prepare themselves to be revolutionary talents for the building of a thriving nation and dynamically advance toward the final victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, the banner of eternal victory of the great Paektusan nation as befitting the descendants of Kim Il Sung and the soldiers and disciples of Kim Jong Il.

The participants went round the statue, being briefed on it. They also visited the remodeled revolutionary museum of the university.
