 Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released a report Thursday on the achievements made in building a thriving nation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Scientists of the Pyongyang Bio-technical Institute produced Korean-style biological agrochemicals and laid a foundation for the industrialization of their production, thus pushing back the frontiers of science in the research and application of biological technology. High-yielding seeds of corn, rice, bean, barley and sweet potato and vegetables were cultivated and methods of drastically increasing their production were established in the [2] agricultural field, making an active contribution to increasing agricultural production. Teachers and researchers across the country made unprecedented scientific and research achievements, propelling the development of science and technology and the building of an economic power. A big innovation has been made in implementing the party's policy on settling the food issue for the people and drastically improving their living standard with agriculture, stock-breeding and fishing as the three mainstays.
