Seminar on Songun Politics Held in Nigeria



A seminar on the Juche idea, the Songun politics in the era of independence was held at University of Abuja of Nigeria on Apr. 6 on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the 16th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

Displayed in the venue of the seminar were photos showing the immortal exploits of his Songun revolutionary leadership.

Present at the Seminar were officials and members of the Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea (NNCSJI), the Group for the Study of Kimjongilism, the Group for the Study of the Juche Philosophy and the Group for the Study of the Songun Politics of Nigeria and over five hundred staff and students of the University of Abuja. Also present there on invitation were staff members of the DPRK embassy in Abuja.

Thereafter, Mallam Buhari Muhammed Bello, a lecturer with the Political Science Department of the university said in an opening speech that the seminar held greater significance as it took place when the DPRK successfully launched its satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 with its own wisdom and technology. He warmly congratulated HE Comrade Kim Jong Il and the Korean people on behalf of the participants.

After the opening address, speeches were made. Abba Sadiqque Abubakar, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of the Juche Philosophy, speaking under the title of "Foundation of the Juche idea and reality of the DPRK," referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung had founded the Juche idea to meet the practical requirement of the Korean revolution, liberated the country usurped by the Japanese imperialists through the armed struggle on the basis of the idea, founded the Democratic People's Republic of Korea afterwards and developed it into a powerful socialist state. Saddiqque paper was delivered by Mallam Abdul-Rahman.

Dr Muhammad Wader, A Professor of International Relations and with about twenty-five years of teaching experience in the United State, spoke on North Korea’s Nuclear Programme and Western Countries Concerns. He opined that DRP of Korea has the right to pursue and possess nuclear programme and weapons

Dr Alhassan Mamman Muhammad, National Chairman of the Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, in his speech titled "The Songun politics and reunification of Korea" explained and proved the fact that the President indicated the essence of the issue on national reunification, set forth the most reasonable proposals and ways for reunification and opened an epochal phase for national reunification to achieve them.
A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted there.
