DIRECTOR OF ATOMIC ENERGY INSTITUTE OF DPRK ON ITS NUCLEAR ACTIVITIES

Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- The director of the Atomic Energy Institute of the DPRK gave the following answer to question put by KCNA Tuesday as regards the public opinion being built up over the DPRK's nuclear activities.
Of late, institutions specializing in nuclear activities and media of the Western world including the U.S. have become vociferous about nuclear activities in the DPRK, saying satellite data made them capture fresh activity in a nuclear establishment in Nyongbyon and they are concerned about it.
As known by the world, the DPRK's access to the nuclear weapons is an outcome of the U.S. hostile policy towards it.
Explicitly speaking, the DPRK took the measure for self-defense in the face of the U.S. extreme hostile policy and nuclear threats towards it.
As was clarified by a spokesman for the then General Department of Atomic Energy of the DPRK in April 2013, all the nuclear facilities in Nyongbyon including the uranium enrichment plant and 5 MW graphite-moderated reactor were rearranged, changed or readjusted and they started normal operation, pursuant to the line of simultaneously pushing forward the economic construction and the building of a nuclear force advanced at the historic plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
In the meantime, the U.S. anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK that forced it to have access to the nuclear weapons has remained utterly unchanged and instead it has become all the more undisguised and vicious with the adoption of means openly seeking the downfall of the latter's social system. Scientists, technicians and workers in the field of atomic energy of the DPRK have made innovations day by day in their research and production to guarantee the reliability of the nuclear deterrent in every way by steadily improving the levels of nuclear weapons with various missions in quality and quantity as required by the prevailing situation.

If the U.S. and other hostile forces persistently seek their reckless hostile policy towards the DPRK and behave mischievously, the DPRK is fully ready to cope with them with nuclear weapons any time.

EVIL COUNTRY

An article posted on a south Korean Internet read: “The United States of America is an aggressor that, regardless of international laws, ruthlessly infringes upon sovereignty of other countries, and an evil country that inflicts untold misfortunes, pains and death on humankind. Utterly infatuated with extreme national chauvinism and misanthropy, the US slaughtered the Korean and other nations indiscriminately as it had hunted American Indians. Though it frequently professed ‘human rights’ and ‘world peace,’ it only sought to satisfy its own interests and realize its wild ambition for world domination.”
As mentioned in the article, the US committed the most barbarous and brutal acts of aggression and massacre against the Korean nation.
The mass slaughter the American troops committed in Rogun-ri during the Korean war (1950 – 1953) is a showcase for it.
The US Army Command issued an order to reduce to ashes the villages around the Thaebaek Mountains in south Korea on the pretext that such backwoods villages might be suitable for the north Korean army to take refuge. Then the American soldiers killed the civilians en masse by firing machine-guns and dropping napalm bombs in broad daylight, and even used randomly germ weapons such as flies infected with vicious epidemic bacilli, thus massacring civilians in many regions.
Millions of innocent Koreans were mercilessly killed during the Korean war, including over 35 000 or a quarter of the total population of Sinchon County in the northern half of Korea which was temporarily occupied by American troops.
The GIs being stationed in south Korea for several decades have killed numerous innocent people. They shot to death in Kunsan a girl picking edible greens, asserting that they took her for a pheasant, and a woodcutter in Phaju. They shaved the head of a woman in Tongduchon, cold-bloodedly killed a woman named Yun Kum I, and brutally ran an armoured vehicle over two schoolgirls passing by. Such cases are beyond count.
At present the engagement of the United States in the “anti-terror war” engenders new slaughter.
The US that commenced an anti-terror war after 9/11 incident stated that it would be a war of ideology against the Islam. Since then it has indulged itself in the acts of vandalizing Islamic culture and thwarting governments in Islamic countries while killing people indiscriminately.
A base-master under the First Division of the US Marine Corps occupying Iraq said it was delightful and fun to shoot down people and he preferred sounds of firing guns and people screaming.
Another US marine roared with laughter at the sight of an Iraqi girl, who was shot and bleeding between her eyes, and, worse still, made a song to this effect. The US soldiers reportedly kept as mementos the bones of head, finger and toe of Iraqi people.
It is none other than the United States that made the Ebola virus spreading across the West African countries and exposing the whole world to threat.
Paul Craig Roberts, who was an adviser to former US president Ronald Reagan, revealed that the original strain of the virus was developed in biological weapons research centres the US government operated in West Africa with an eye toward biological warfare. Cyril Broderick, a Liberian university professor, disclosed a fact that a few weeks before the outbreak of the virus in Guinea and Sierra Leone in 2014 the US Department of Defense funded a US 140 million-worth project for an experiment on a living body with the virus. Blaming the US as the mastermind of biological terror committed against Kenema in Sierra Leone, the Liberian professor lamented that African countries, for their backwardness in science and industry, have become testing grounds of the US biological weapons.
Unanimous are experts in their opinion that the US, in hot pursuit of its wild ambition of world domination, has been undertaking researches for biological weapons for decades in West African region and the Ebola virus are one of those deadly viruses created in this course.
The US-made virus claimed 10 000 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and other countries.
The United States that kills people without discrimination and even thinks the extermination of whole mankind possible to satisfy its aggressive ambition is the mastermind of human slaughter, an evil country.
This country is posing as a “world judge” in the international arena.

HUMAN RIGHTS OF PARK GEUN HYE’S STYLE
President Park Geun Hye of south Korea is exhorting on human rights.

To hear her tiresome trumpeting of human rights, one cannot but think what she really means by “human rights.”

FALSE COMMITMENTS

“Democratization of the economy,” “half enrolment fee for students,” “basic pension,” “women’s welfare,” “policy on the nursing of children,” “government for people,” “era of people’s happiness that gives women no worries over having and raising children and the elderly comfort, and ensures the lives and safety of people,” etc.
Commitments to “human rights” at the start of Park’s stint as the president were so shiny.
Have these commitments come into reality in south Korea right now?
According to an opinion poll by the south Korean media occasioning the second year of her term, the absolute majority of the respondents from all social strata blamed her for the “2 years of nightmare of unprecedented devastation of the commoners’ economy, undermined democracy and spoiled inter-Korean relations,” “2 years of consistent obstinacy and falsehood,” and “2 years filled with despair.”
Her commitments have gone away without leaving any traces.
The very thing she has done with an “iron will” is the revival of “Yushin” fascist dictatorship.
An appalling witch-hunting has taken place in south Korea in recent years; the United Progressive Party, a progressive political party, and Jaju Minbo, a progressive newspaper, have been forcibly banned.
Owing to her policies friendly towards conglomerates and geared to tax reduction for the rich, people’s life has deteriorated, and the unemployed numbering 15 million are wandering about on the streets. Homeless families numbering 8.5 million are living in ancient, cave-like houses―houses made of cardboards and vinyl sheets. Part-time workers, who account for two-thirds of the workforce, say their cherished dream is to have their own houses in their lifetime.
Unemployment is a more serious problem for the young people. Graduation leads to unemployment in south Korea. For them to answer to “How are you?” with such words as “Not fine for the lost hope” and “Not fine for the doubtful tomorrow” has become a fashion.
The same is the case with women. Gone is Park’s pledge to promote appointing women to public offices; women’s employment rate in public offices is almost zero. They have become objects of minimum wage and victims of sexual harassment. Giving birth to children leads them to unemployment. It is common among them to give up three things in their life―marriage, delivery to children and hope. South Korea has become a world prostitution centre with 1.25 million women engaged in prostitution. The western media denounce south Korea, calling it a “country with the lowest women’s social rank in the world” and “a world school of discrimination against women.”
A great number of parentless children are sold abroad on the pretext of “overseas adoption,” while the elderly are abandoned by their families and communities.

More and more people are leaving south Korea in search of means of survival.

IF I CAN REMAIN ALIVE, THAT’S ALL

The sinking of the Sewol, recorded as one of the greatest maritime accidents in the world, is the epitome of the human rights of Park Geun Hye style.
When the hundreds of children were crying out for help inside the sinking ship, she was somewhere else to attend to her own things and did not take any salvage measures. When public feelings against her ran high, she threw the blame on a few of her subordinates like a threatened lizard breaking off its own tail. She did not receive the families of victims, who went to the presidential house to see her, and had police clamp down their protests. Her inhumane and cruel reaction appalled the world.
When people held demonstrations on the occasion of May Day last year in demand of the right to existence and in memory of the first anniversary of the Sewol accident, a large number of police troops were enlisted; they poured tens of thousands of litres of tear-causing fluid over the people, beat them with iron bars and shields, and walked many of them, including women, off.
The official in charge of east Asia criticized this in his emergency comment. Not only the south Korean public but the US and Western media denounced Park Geun Hye, saying that she is not a human being, much less a president. CNN said that there was no such a hell in this world. Wall Street Journal and Guardian wrote that she is not possessed of qualities becoming a leader, and that if she were in the West, she would have hardly managed to remain a president.
To her, the life and safety of her people are nothing. If not, how could she have allowed the shipping in of anthrax bacteria for the US experiment in south Korea?
The recent MERS spread in south Korea has revealed the true nature of the human rights of Park Geun Hye style. Because of poor preventive mechanism, many people were infected. Their lives not withstanding she had heat sensors installed in the presidential building to check those who are coming in. As this fact was revealed, the south Korean people said: “How can it be exactly the same with the case of the Sewol accident?” and “She reminds us of the captain of the Sewol who escaped the sinking ship first.”

If I can remain alive, that’s all―this is Park Geun Hye style of human rights.

PROJECTED U.S.-LED "HUMAN RIGHTS" CAMPAIGN AGAINST DPRK UNDER FIRE

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to the question put by KCNA Thursday as regards the attempt of the U.S. and other forces hostile to the DPRK to kick off again an anti-DPRK racket on the UN human rights arena over its non-existent "human rights issue": The forces hostile to the DPRK are going to organize a "meeting of experts" concerning the "human rights issue" of the DPRK on the sidelines of the 30th session of the UN Human Rights Council to be held in Geneva from September 14. They are to invite "human rights experts" to the "meeting" and stage a farce slandering the DPRK. The "experts" will reportedly make speeches on various themes at the "meeting" to be held under the backstage manipulation of the U.S. and on the initiative of its followers. Those "themes" are all based on fabrications from an antiDPRK "inquiry report" and "human rights resolution" that had gone bankrupt with their falsity already fully revealed. The "inquiry report" is peppered with fabrications distorting and slandering the DPRK where genuine human rights are ensured at the highest level as its keynote was cooked up on the basis of false testimonies made by such riff-raffs as "defectors from the north" and without any proper confirmation on the spot. All the "defectors from the north" being used by the hostile forces as "testifiers" are human scum who deserted after being involved in such crimes as theft, rape of girls under age, abduction of children and flesh traffic. The DPRK will chase them to the last one and bring to light their true colors. Those who are unaware of human rights system in the DPRK as they fail to see its true situation with their own eyes are going to say this or that about its "human rights situation." Lurking behind it is an ulterior political motive. Now the U.S., after the clinch of a nuclear deal with Iran, is crying out for putting pressure upon the DPRK, with the main emphasis on its "human rights issue", leaving no means untried to intensify politically-motivated provocations aimed at bringing down its social system on the UN arena. EU and Japan are taking the lead in the U.S.-led campaign. Notably, Japan is getting zealous in its efforts for the coming "meeting." It seems that Japan would scrap the matter agreed upon with the DPRK. Recently, Western media noted that the "inquiry report on human rights records in north Korea and resolution against it are targeting the "change of social system in north Korea" and that the U.S. and its allies are "seeking a regime change through human rights campaign against north Korea." This clearly shows what the hostile forces seek in the "meeting of experts." The more desperately the U.S. and other hostile forces move to bring down the most advantageous socialist system of the DPRK, the life of its people and the cradle of their happiness, the tougher stand the DPRK will take to counter the moves.

Principle of Bringing Schools Closer to Students

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea enforces compulsory free education, the level of which is highest of its kind in the world. It adheres to the principle of bringing schools closer to students.

Principle of Building Schools
Wherever there are children at school age, there is a school whether it be a remote mountainous village or a far-flung island. If schoolchildren have to cross a river or a mountain on their way to school, the state builds a school in their village.
This is all attributable to the leadership of President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994), founding father of socialist Korea, who put forth children as kings and queens of the country and spared nothing for them.
After the liberation of Korea on August 15, 1945 from the military occupation of Japan (1905-1945) Kim Il Sung regarded education as a pivotal problem that has a bearing on the destiny of the country and paid close attention to it. A good example is the discussion of the issue of pencil production as an item of the first agenda at the First Session of the Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea held on February 20, 1946.
Immediately after liberation he was asked by an educational official at a meeting of educationists whether a school should be built for 10 or 20 students in a place like a village of slash-and-burn farmers or a tree-feller’s village. At that time there were many such villages in Korea as an aftermath of the colonial rule by Japanese imperialism.
Kim Il Sung answered; in the past students went to a school and asked for entry, but today we should establish the principle of going to students, building school wherever they are and teaching them. During his field guidance at Yangdok County, South Phyongan Province, a mountainous area in the central part of the DPRK, in September 1947, he learned that pupils were going to school situated far away and took a measure for building a branch school for them.
Since then, a new history of building branch schools has started in the DPRK.

Schools for a Few Students
All the children at school age enjoy the benefit of 12-year compulsory education in the DPRK, which has been enforcing universal compulsory free education for over half a century. A well-planned network of education covering even remote mountainous villages and solitary lighthouse islands is a sure guarantee for this.
The DPRK has more than one thousand branch schools. Those for less than 10 students number over one hundred, and more than 500 for less than 20 students each.
In the last decade many of them have been built.
In the depth of mountains of Ryanggang Province on the northern tip of the country such schools have been built according to the instructions given by Chairman Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) during his on-site guidance at the construction site of the Samsu Power Station. In Taehongdan County, which is called the “highest village under the sky,” there are branch schools in every branch farm. There are over ten such schools in Kim Hyong Gwon, Pungso, Unhung and Samsu counties, respectively; the number of them for less than 20 students amounts to over 80.
A few years ago 10 students living in Kom Island, a solitary island in Unryul County on the west coast, entered the Komsom Branch School under the Kumsan Primary School.
There is a branch school for one student in Suun Island in Sinuiju in the northern border area.
True to the educational policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea many educationists volunteer to go to such branch schools.
Last year 23-year-old Jo Pom Hyang, who graduated from the math faculty of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, volunteered to teach at the branch school on an island off the west coast. Particularly interested in music, the girl had learned how to play the piano and accordion at the music group of the Pyongyang Students and Children’s Palace, a famous base of extra curricula education in the country, from her primary school days. She was also gifted in literature, so she could compose both lyrics and music. Proficient in basic subjects, she had been enrolled at the Computer School under the Pyongyang University of Computer Technology, and afterwards entered Kim Hyong Jik University of Education. Then she volunteered to the school in the remote island far from the capital city where her parents are still living.
Bright and promising is the future of socialist Korea, which attaches importance to education.

Kim Jong Un Visits New Pyongyang Corn Processing Factory

Enjoying a bird's-eye view of the factory, he said with pleasure that one of the behests of leader Kim Jong Il, who had put all his heart and energies into improving the citizens' diet, was implemented as the factory has taken its shape amid a vigorous drive for creating a new Pyongyang spirit, Pyongyang speed.
He went round various production processes of the factory and its product show room, combined control room, rooms for sci-tech knowledge and experiment and analysis, gymnasium, etc. to learn in detail about its construction and production.
He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the factory has widened the variety of processed corn products such as noodle, meal, cake, bread and sweet jelly and raised the level of packing.
He also highly appreciated the sci-tech knowledge room, built to ensure tele-education, and the gymnasium.
Saying that the factory has an important mission to tangibly contribute to improving the diet of Pyongyangites, he indicated the tasks and ways facing the factory. What it should do is to turn out a variety of processed corn products in a larger quantity by keeping the production going at a high rate, take a proper measure for supply of raw materials and meticulously carry on business administration, pay special heed to thoroughly guaranteeing the hygienic safety and quality of products and make all its products popular among the people.
He praised the Pyongyangites for their sincere assistance to the construction of the factory and the officials, teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering and Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry for their significant contribution to its modernization.
Then he had a photo session with the officials and employees of the factory, expressing belief that they would work hard to add eternal glory to the warm love shown by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for the people.

Kim Jong Un Visits Sinuiju Measuring Instrument Factory

Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the Sinuiju Measuring Instrument Factory.
Saying that he was so pleased to receive a report about world-class ultra-modern measuring instruments developed by the factory and came to meet the developers, the supreme leader highly appreciated their feats.
He looked round a monument to revolutionary activities of the great leaders and a room for education in their revolutionary history.
He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the factory, to which President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il had always paid deep attention and he, too, attaches very great importance, manufactured new modern measuring instruments to be used in various fields of the national economy and defense industry and thus carried out another behest of the great leaders.
After touring processing and assembling shops, sci-tech room and other parts of the factory, he learned in detail about the technical specifications and performance of the newly-developed measuring instruments.
The instruments are of the world level, he said, adding it is a remarkable success that such ultra-modern instruments were manufactured with indigenous efforts and technology.
The factory provided a big stepping-stone for developing the nation's field of measuring instrument production at a leaping pace and speeding up the building of a prosperous country, he said.
Noting the factory has a very important role to play, he indicated the tasks facing it.
He set the goals to be attained by the factory in production, urging it to increase the output of measuring instruments developed on a higher level of Juche-orientation, modernization and localization.
Stressing the need to modernize the factory as required by the age of knowledge-based economy in order to drastically raise the output of ultra-modern measuring instruments of Korean style and ensure their quality, he called for turning it into a manpower-saving factory and an icon factory in the field of measuring instrument production by putting all its production processes on an automated and CNC basis.
Going round a canteen and supply service facilities of the factory, he said that, as always mentioned, bigger success can be made in production only when better living conditions are provided for the workers. And he indicated the ways for further improving its supply service.
The workers at the factory are strong in revolutionary spirit and there will be nothing impossible to do when going together with such workers, he said, adding he would become an honorary manager of the factory, an expression of his deepest trust.
There is no fortress unconquerable when our workers live and struggle like those of Kunja-ri in the 1950s, he said, stressing that it is advisable to conduct a higher level of mass movement for learning from the working spirit and traits of the Kunja-ri workers as well as the Three-Revolution Red Flag Movement.
He had a photo session with the officials and employees of the factory, expressing belief that they would make positive contribution to the building of a thriving country by developing and producing more measuring instruments, true to the Workers' Party of Korea's line of building an economic power and its strategic plan.

Accompanying him were Kim Chun Sop, Jo Chun Ryong, Jo Yong Won, Hong Yong Chil and Yun Tong Hyon.

People’s Paradise

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is the people’s country as its name indicates.
Its people do not know about school and doctor’s fees, tax and unemployment.
Since several decades previously the DPRK has enforced the free compulsory education system in which the state takes full responsibility for the education work. At present the 12-year compulsory education, the highest level of its kind in the world, is being enforced there: all forms of education―the pre schooling, primary, secondary, tertiary, social and adult education―are financed by the state. Wherever there are school-age children, schools are set up in a remote mountainous village or a far-flung island.
The universal free medical care system now in force in the DPRK is perfect and thorough as all forms of medical treatment service are free of charge. Everybody in the country is entitled to free medical service, regardless of sexes, ages, places of residence, occupations, and property status. Medical services for outpatients and inpatients, doctor’s sick calls, medical checkups, laboratory tests, functional-diagnosis, operations and diets, delivery assistance, medical examination, vaccination, prosthetic devices for those with disability and dental prosthesis are given gratis. Even the round-trip fare to a sanatorium is borne by the state and social, cooperative organizations. Under a regular checkup or medical care system as well as a section doctor system doctors visit patients to give medical treatment.
There are not a few countries in the world that claim to be an advanced nation or a welfare state, but none of them has abolished taxation. However, the DPRK abolished it once and for all over 40 years ago, so its people do not know about the term tax.
What is also surprising is that the unemployed are not found in the country. People with working ability can choose their jobs according to their hope and aptitude and are provided with stable jobs by the state. Holiday camps and resorts are built across the country to promote the working people’s health. Especially, women are granted with special treatment. The state has taken steps for female workers with several children to have shorter working hours and built nurseries, kindergartens, children’s hospitals and other necessary facilities for their convenience in work.
The dwelling houses are built at state expenses and provided to the people free of charge. It is a good example that ordinary educationists, scientists, technicians and workers moved into new flats modernly built on Changjon Street, Unha Scientists Street and Wisong Scientists Dwelling District and in apartment blocks for educationists of Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology, without paying even a penny.
All the state activities are geared to improving its people’s living standards.
It was only a few years ago when a CNN anchor televised live a nocturnal scene of a renovated amusement park in Pyongyang, struck by actual reality completely different from the distorted Western propaganda, saying, “Your eyes are not deceiving you. This is socialist north Korea.”
The cultural and emotional life of the Koreans, enjoying the latest amusement facilities laid out in the park with dazzling illuminations, has further improved; the Rungna People’s Recreation Ground, Munsu Water Park, Mirim Riding Club, Masikryong Ski Resort, Meari Shooting Gallery, Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, May Day Stadium and other establishments for leisure activities of the people were newly built or renovated on the world standard. Besides, the Okryu Children’s Hospital, Ryugyong Dental Hospital and other new medical centres were built in a modern fashion.
It should be noted here that all these modern structures and high-end facilities, equipment and apparatuses that cost the huge sum of fund are enjoyed by ordinary working people, not by any millionaires or the privileged.
Every member of the Korean society is enjoying his or her political freedom and rights to the full. This is illustrated numerically by the make-up of the Deputies (MPs) to the Supreme People’s Assembly. Workers account for 12.7 %, farmers 11.1 % and women 16.3 % of the Deputies to the present 13th SPA. It shows eloquently that the state administration is bound to be enforced as the working people wish and like.
It should also be pointed out that the country, its political power and army are all named after the people, i.e. People’s Republic, People’s Government and People’s Army. The intellectuals, sportspeople and artists who have rendered distinguished services to the country and people are awarded the titles of honour, like People’s Scientist, People’s Athlete and People’s Actor. The most magnificent structures in the country are called in such a way as the People’s Palace of Culture, Grand People’s Study House, People’s Theatre and so on.
The DPRK with the people-first Juche idea as the guideline of its activities is, indeed, a genuine people’s country that fully guarantees all the rights and dignity of the people.

U.S. FORCES ACCUSED OF THEIR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY IN SOUTH KOREA

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Measure Council for Human Rights in South Korea released an inquiry report on Monday bringing to light the thrice-cursed crimes against humanity and human rights abuses perpetrated by the U.S. aggressor forces for the past 70 years since they occupied south Korea on September 8, 1945. The report dealt with the hideous moves of the U.S. aggressor forces to infringe upon the political freedom and rights of the south Korean people. Noting the U.S. forces that landed in south Korea under the mask of "liberator" and "protector" completely stamped out the political freedom and rights of the south Korean people by enforcing a fascist military administration, a follow-up of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea, the report said: The criminal nature of the U.S. military administration to stamp out the political freedom and rights of the south Korean people was clearly evidenced by the fact that it forcibly dissolved the people's committees, progressive political parties and social organizations and brutally suppressed their peaceful rallies and demonstrations. The U.S. imperialists dissolved at least 162 political parties and social organizations at the point of bayonet from September, 1945 to late 1949. They brutally suppressed the just anti-U.S. actions of the south Korean people not to tolerate the colonial rule by the U.S. including the peasants' uprising on Haui Island, South Jolla Province and a peaceful demonstration of workers of the Hwasun Coal Mine in August, 1946, the September general strike and the October popular resistance that year. The fascist rule of the U.S. military administration found a vivid manifestation in the fact that it mercilessly violated suffrage of the south Korean people to establish a unified democratic, independent and sovereign state and cruelly killed broad popular masses opposed to its moves to establish a neo-colonial ruling system. The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces massacred more than a million patriots and innocent people for five years from the liberation of Korea on August 15, 1945 till the outbreak of the Korean War. They suppressed at the point of bayonet the political freedom and rights of the south Korean people in a bid to maintain their colonial ruling system in the postwar period, too. It is well known to the world that the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces were the arch criminals who militarily backed on the spot the military fascist junta in brutal crackdown upon the righteous struggle of the south Korean people for independence, democracy and reunification including the April 19 Popular Uprising in 1960 and the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising in 1980. The inquiry report disclosed the unprecedented massacre committed by the U.S. imperialists not only in the northern half of Korea but also in every part of south Korea during the Korean War. The U.S. imperialist aggression forces committed indiscriminate massacre across south Korea in a deliberate and planned way during the Korean War in utter disregard of elementary human ethics and international law. A typical example of it was the indiscriminate bombing and strafing of more than 400 innocent inhabitants in Rogun-ri, Yongdong County, North Chungchong Province in July 1950. During the three-year war the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces mercilessly killed more than 1.24 million peaceable people in south Korea only. During the war the U.S. imperialists dropped germ shells in different parts of south Korea to massacre people there and even after the war they used germ weapons and poisonous chemical weapons, committing unprecedented mass-killings. A particular mention should be made of their secrete introduction of anthrax germ, dangerous lethal weapon with 95 percent of fatality, to south Korea and their use of south Koreans as guinea pigs for experiments. This was the thrice-cursed crime against humanity aimed to inflict disaster and pain not only on the Korean nation but on other peoples of the world. The report also referred to the crimes against humanity committed by GIs in south Korea. They are a group of murderers who shot to death south Koreans regarding them as moving hunting targets, and a group of immoral and corrupt men who made no scruple of wantonly violating the rights, dignity, chastity and even physical lives of south Korean women at will. GIs turned one million south Korean women into their sexual playthings, a hideous crime against humanity. Damage GIs did by raping south Korean women and turning them into sexual playthings amounted to more than 100 billion U.S. dollars as of early in the 2000s when calculated with the reparation for the sexual slavery enforced by the Imperial Japanese Army as a standard. GIs turned south Korean land into their military bases and staged anti-DPRK war exercises, playing havoc with the ecological environment and seriously jeopardizing lives and security of its people. The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces are creating all sorts of social evils through drug traffic, smuggling and sale, obliterating the national culture by spreading their corrupt Yankee culture and deliberately vandalizing and looting even precious cultural treasures of the Koreans without hesitation. GIs' hideous crimes are occurring almost every day. But the criminals are allowed to be at large and keep committing such horrible crimes, enjoying extraterritorial privileges under the SOFA, a modern version of slave document. The crimes committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea against humanity and human rights are too many to enumerate. The south Korean people can never be free from the colonial slavery as long as no day passes without seeing bitter tears of the people and pro-U.S. lackeys ride roughshod in the area where foreign forces lord it over and sovereignty is trampled down. This is the bitter lesson taught by the history of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces' occupation, concluded the report.

KJC INDICTS U.S. FOR ESCALATING TENSION ON KOREAN PENINSULA

Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The Korean Jurists Committee (KJC) Sunday released an indictment 70 years since the U.S. forces landed in south Korea. It accused them of escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula, bringing the danger of a nuclear war to it and laying a stumbling block in the way of achieving peace and reunification. The U.S. forces' presence in south Korea is a product of the U.S. Korea policy for aggression, it said, and went on: The U.S., well aware of the geopolitical, military and strategic importance of the Korean Peninsula in Asia, stretched tentacles of aggression to Korea more than a century ago and employed every crafty and vicious plot to swallow it up. It got ever more undisguised in its moves in the closing years of the Second World War, in particular. When the liberation of Korea was coming true thanks to the heroic anti-Japanese war of the Korean people, the U.S. worked hard to divide it into two parts with the 38th Parallel as a demarcation line in a bid to occupy the southern part of the peninsula at least before the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and the Soviet Army expanded their operational theatre there. The U.S. crafted this with the calculation that it could have a say concerning the Korean issue when it seized even a half of the territory of Korea and occupy the whole of Korea and, furthermore, attain its goal for dominating Asia and the whole world with the southern part of Korea as a springboard. Prompted by this purpose, the U.S. occupied south Korea on September 8, 1945 without even a single gunshot under the pretext of disarming the Japanese Army in the area south of the 38th Parallel. Since the very day the U.S. troops landed in south Korea under the mask of "liberator" they pursued a brutal military fascist rule to turn south Korea into a colony, behaving themselves as occupation forces. The U.S. illegal military occupation of south Korea meant the beginning of history of split of the Korean nation spanning 5 000 years. Referring to the unreasonable U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, the indictment went on: Since its occupation of south Korea the U.S. has perpetrated most vicious acts against the Korean people all out to build a new society for the purpose of carrying out its aggressive scenario to swallow up the whole of Korea. After the Second World War the U.S. proclaimed the Cold War and ignited the brigandish war of aggression against the DPRK as a recourse to arms for realizing its anti-socialist strategy. It even illegally abused the name of the UN to realize its ambition for seizing the DPRK at any cost. The Korean Armistice Agreement concluded on July 27, 1953 was neither an agreement that ended the war nor a peace agreement. But the U.S. deliberately opted for perpetuating truce on the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. has systematically scrapped key articles of the AA by introducing weaponry including nuclear weapons into south Koreas and escalating various war drills for aggression and steadily ratcheted up the tension on the peninsula. The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK finds its vivid manifestation in the fact that it not only has posed military threat and staged madcap drills for provoking a nuclear war but employed every possible means and method to isolate and stifle the DPRK. In the past the U.S. established diplomatic ties with the former Soviet Union and East European countries having differing ideologies and social systems but refused to properly call the DPRK by its nomenclature, to say nothing of opening diplomatic relations with it. Styling itself the world's "only superpower" after the demise of the Cold War, the U.S. let loose a whole gamut of invectives against the DPRK, calling it "part of the axis of evil," "a rogue state" and "an outpost of tyranny," for the mere reason that the latter followed an independent policy, refusing to meekly obey to it. It has spread anti-DPRK rumor internationally and staged a racket for isolating and stifling the DPRK by abusing the names of the UN and other international bodies while pulling the DPRK up over "nuclear issue" and "human rights issue". The DPRK government has made consistent efforts to put an end to the U.S. persistent hostile policy that has escalated tension and the danger of a war on the peninsula. Even under the situation where the U.S. escalation of military tensions and threat of war entered a more serious phase, the DPRK government made strenuous efforts to replace the AA by a peace treaty from its sincere stand to avert a war on the peninsula. The Third Session of the 5th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in 1974 proposed talks between and the DPRK and the U.S. In 1984 a proposal was made for holding three-party talks involving the DPRK, the U.S. and the south Korean authorities and in 1998 the DPRK-U.S. military negotiations for establishing new peace-keeping mechanism were initiated for putting under control the serious situation that was created due to the U.S. act of playing havoc with the armistice system and the issue of knocking into shape three-party joint military organization was raised once again. At the historic north-south summit in 2007, the north and the south shared understanding of the need to put an end to the present armistice mechanism and build a durable peace mechanism and adopted the October 4 declaration calling on the heads of three or four parties directly related to it to cooperate in the efforts to promote the issue of making public the end of the war on the Korean Peninsula. The DPRK has waged a relentless struggle to defuse the nuclear threat of the U.S. as regards the fact that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK leads to the reckless threat of nuclear attack upon the DPRK and its sovereignty and the nation's fate are exposed to a serious danger. The DPRK's military muscle built under the banner of Songun in the DPRK-U.S. confrontation over the past seven decades has reached such high phase that it is ready to cope with any form of war desired by the U.S. The DPRK government remains steadfast in its stand to protect the sovereignty of the country and socialism and achieve peace and security on the peninsula by bolstering up its nuclear deterrent both in quality and quantity as long as the U.S. presence in south Korea and its hostile policy toward the DPRK persist.

WITHDRAWAL OF U.S. FORCES FROM S. KOREA IS REQUIREMENT OF TIMES: DPRK FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESMAN

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK issued a statement Monday 70 years since the U.S. occupied south Korea. The U.S. has persisted in its reckless hostile moves to perpetuate Korea's division and stifle the DPRK contrary to the unanimous will of all Koreans aspiring after peace and reunification since it occupied south Korea, the statement said, and went on: Behind the Korean war and all armed conflicts and skirmishes that broke out on the Korean Peninsula for the past 70 years was the U.S. that has deployed huge forces in south Korea to stage provocative military actions. The U.S.-south Korea joint military drills have become a main factor of aggravating confrontation and distrust not only between the DPRK and the U.S. but also between the north and the south of Korea. The risky war games have entered an extremely reckless phase of putting into practice such scenario for surprise pre-emptive attack upon the DPRK as OPLAN 5015 opened to public shortly ago. The U.S. forces' presence in south Korea has become a pretext for the ceaseless north-targeted sober-rattling in south Korea. The U.S. has sought a pretext for arms build-up, pursuant to its "strategy of re balancing forces" in the Asia-Pacific to dominate the world. That is why it has periodically staged provocative military actions to ramp up tensions on the Korean Peninsula. As long as the U.S. has its huge forces in south Korea, seizing the prerogative of the supreme command of the south Korean army, the north-south relations are bound to be influenced by the U.S. As urged by the resolution made at the 30th session of the UN General Assembly, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from south Korea has become a requirement of the times, which brooks no further delay. As the agreement reached at the north-south high-level urgent contact showed that the north and the south are capable of tiding over the crisis and protecting peace in the spirit of By Our Nation Itself, such trite pretext of the U.S. that its forces' presence in south Korea "ensures stability on the Korean Peninsula" is no longer be workable.
