KIM JONG UN’S NEW YEAR ADDRESS

Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), made an address on the New Year, Juche 105 (2016).

Kim Jong Un in his address paid high tribute and offered New Year greetings to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, representing the best wishes of all the people and service personnel of the KPA.

He went on:

The year 2015 was a year of gigantic struggle recorded with significant events and eye-opening successes and a year of victory and glory that strikingly demonstrated the dignity and might of socialist Korea.

Thanks to the wise leadership of the Party and the matchless service personnel and great people who have absolutely supported and devotedly defended the Party, we could accomplish any great cause without fail no matter how high mountains stood in our way. This is a proud review of the last year's struggle.

This year is a significant year which will greet the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, he said, calling for glorifying the congress as a glorious one of victors that would mark a turning point in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

"Let Us Usher in the Golden Age in Building a Thriving Nation This Year When the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea Is to Be Held!"--this is the militant slogan which the WPK and the people should put up, he noted, adding:

All the party members, the service personnel and people should turn out as one with intense loyalty to the Party and extraordinary patriotic enthusiasm to fully demonstrate the spirit and mettle of the DPRK.

All efforts should be directed to building an economic power and a fresh turn should be effected in the development of economy and the improvement of the people's living standard.

He underscored the need to increase the political and military might of the DPRK in every way, enable the people enjoy the highest level of civilization and hold high the strenuous efforts first principle in building a socialist thriving nation.

He called for waging a more dynamic movement for national reunification this year under the slogan of "Let Us Meet the Challenges of the Anti-Reunification Forces within and without an Usher in a New Era of Independent Reunification!"

He stressed that the challenges of the hostile forces are persistent and the situation still remains tense but we will invariably advance along the road of independence, Songun and socialism and make responsible efforts to defend peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of the world, holding high the red flag of the revolution.

He noted that the WPK and the DPRK government would further boost solidarity with the world people opposing aggression, war, domination and subjugation and expand and develop the friendly and cooperative relations with all countries which respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and are friendly toward it.

The socialist cause of Juche is sure to triumph and only victory and glory are in store for the DPRK advancing under the leadership of the WPK, he concluded.
