DPRK Soon Recovers Peace and Stability

 

After the malicious novel coronavirus had infiltrated its territory, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea promptly imposed nationwide blockade, and soon peace and stability gradually set in with the epidemic situation controlled in a stable manner. What made such a quick recovery possible?

The major factor is that the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea has assumed direct responsibility for the anti-epidemic war.

On May 12, the Eighth Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth WPK Central Committee was convened. At the meeting Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, had the Political Bureau adopt a decision on switching the state epidemic prevention system to the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system.

Then he had a series of measures taken to promptly contain and manage the epidemic situation and to firmly hold the strategic initiative in the anti-epidemic campaign. He presided over the consultative meetings of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee on May 14 and 15. A meeting of the Presidium of the Political Bureau was called on May 17, and consultative meetings of the Political Bureau were held on May 21 and 29 under his guidance.

Within the 18 days after the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system had been put in place, he guided six major meetings to cope with the crisis, an unprecedented fact in the history of the WPK, which clearly shows how prompt and timely his measures were for the lives and safety of the people.

Kim Jong Un personally visited the sites of anti-epidemic work in spite of high risk to acquaint himself with the situation and take relevant measures, and had the household medicines from his family sent to those experiencing difficulties. It would also be written on a new page of the world history of anti-epidemic work.

He visited the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters to acquaint himself with the national epidemic situation and had measures taken to implement immediately and thoroughly the items of the decision of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee so as to take up the winning position in the campaign proactively and definitely.

On May 15, shortly after the consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Un visited some pharmacies in the capital city of Pyongyang. It was not long after the shop assistants recovered from the disease. Despite personal risk, he approached them and familiarized himself in detail with how medicines were supplied and stored, whether the pharmacies were open round the clock, what kinds of medicines were in highest demand and how much they cost. He also asked them to tell him what they thought the best treatment method was and how they would consult those with fever. Then he saw to it that officials put to rights the faults in the medicine supply system and take powerful measures with regard to the transport of medicines.

The DPRK’s recovery of stability through the anti-epidemic campaign can also be attributable to the state’s unified guidance, all the people’s voluntary unity to keep pace with it and their displays of tenderness and human feeling.

Since the enforcement of the nationwide blockade, the Korean people have been proactive and responsible in implementing the government’s measures including disinfection and closure.

According to the special order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, nearly 3 000 medics of the Korean People’s Army were deployed in hundreds of pharmacies in Pyongyang to conduct transport and supply of medicines. They did not merely wait for the people to come to the pharmacies but visited the families in their charge to provide necessary medicines and actively engage in medical treatment, instilling in them confidence and courage. According to the data, tens of millions of medicines of over 90 kinds were supplied in Pyongyang and other provinces in a single day of May 24, and in early June the number increased to more than 360 million of over 430 kinds.

Throughout the country nearly 500 rapid mobile anti-epidemic groups and rapid diagnosis and treatment groups conducted confirmative diagnosis, transport and treatment of the cases and other anti-epidemic work. More than a million of medical workers and teachers and students of the medical education institutions and hygiene activists were mobilized for treatment, examination and disinfection.

The tenderness and human feeling of helping and leading one another forward can be said to be a major characteristic of the current anti-epidemic campaign in the DPRK. Many people donated spare medicines, money and grains to help the families in hardship. Some young pupils sent pharmacies medicine envelopes they made with their own hands.

Thousands of people who retired from the public health sector and even other ones volunteered to take part in the medical service. The volunteers also participated in the work for stabilizing the people’s living. Nearly 10 000 mobile service groups were organized across the country, and over 160 carts of vegetables, foodstuffs and daily necessities were deployed in each district of Pyongyang alone.

According to mass media of the DPRK, the daily occurrence of cases with fever continued to drop by 6.1 per cent on average from May 15, a few days after the blockade was imposed (May 12), and as of 18:00 hours, June 9, 4 265 860 (98.068 per cent of the total cases with fever) fully recovered and 83 980 (1.93 per cent) are under treatment.

DPRK and Ten Years of Development of Its National Defence Capabilities

 

Today the world is in turmoil. But there is a land free from the world war, dispute and refugee. That is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, has developed his country into a socialist power that no one can belittle.

Over the past ten years, he has fully displayed his outstanding leadership abilities.

We should continue to grow stronger; we must not be satisfied or rest on our laurels concerning the strength we have built up for defending ourselves; we must make our military supremacy more secure so that we can stand up to anyone–this is his intention.

He has developed the Korean People’s Army into an army strong in ideology and morality.

He gives precedence to developing the army into the one that is firmly equipped with the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and achieves victory with the spiritual and moral strength. Whenever he visits the army units, he first looks round the rooms dedicated to education by means of revolutionary relics and rooms for education of soldiers, leading the service personnel to glorify the military ideas and army building exploits of the preceding leaders.

He has accelerated the work of developing the military technology of the KPA.

He ensures that efforts are directed to training a larger number of officers capable of skillfully commanding units of the arms and services at all levels, and that the level of modernization of combat training by the units is raised, so that all the units and sub-units can fully perform any combat missions.

Clarifying that the key to this end is in improving the quality of training, he has stoked the flames of intensive training across the army.

He has personally guided the strike drills of the services and arms of the KPA to cultivate the strategic and tactical qualification of their commanding officers and develop their capabilities for commanding operations. Thanks to his guidance, a dramatic change has been brought about in the forms, contents and methods of training in the KPA. Amid the brisk movement to become crack shots, a movement launched by him, the service personnel are prepared as masters of modern warfare and elite soldiers who are highly capable of fighting a real combat.

Kim Jong Un has paid close concern to developing the military hardware and other material means of the KPA.

His country has had to overcome harshest-ever difficulties and pressure in the current century, but he has led his country to possess all the absolute weapons, a monopoly of nuclear powers only in several years and then make a leap forward to develop and manufacture unknown weaponry of the Juche type.

He does not know the word impossible; but the world steady advance and leap forward make sense with him. This is a fact recognized by the international community.

Under his guidance, the sectors of national defence science and munitions industry of the DPRK have achieved world-startling successes in developing state-of-the-art military hardware of new generations.

The country succeeded in the test-fires of a new-type tactical guided missile and newly-developed long-range cruise missile, anti-aircraft missile and new-type SLBM in succession last year and succeeded in the test-fires of hypersonic missile and new-type ICBM Hwasongpho-17 this year.

The military parade, held in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army in Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, on April 25 this year, vividly showed the war deterrent possessed by the DPRK.

Cornerstone for Korea’s Reunification

 President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea devoted his all to the cause of national reunification. As early as fifty years ago, he illuminated the cornerstone for national reunification–the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity, which the north and south of Korea solemnly proclaimed at home and abroad in their July 4 Joint Statement in 1972.

When he met the representative of south Korea who was on a visit to Pyongyang for north-south high-level political talks in May 1972, Kim Il Sung explained to him the main principles to be adhered to in the effort for national reunification.

As part of its efforts to realize its ambition for gaining world supremacy after the Second World War, the United States tried to dominate the Korean peninsula which is located in a geopolitically favourable position. In the long run, the Korean peninsula was divided into two by the foreign forces. After occupying south Korea, the US obstructed in every possible way the struggle of the Korean people for the reunification of their country. This historical background clearly showed that the Korean people could achieve national reunification only when they opposed the domination and interference by the US, the mastermind behind Korea’s division and biggest obstacle to its reunification, and safeguarded the principle of national independence.

Achieving the national reunification in a peaceful way is a unanimous desire of the Korean nation and a fundamental method of reunification. On the Korean peninsula where enormous armed forces of two sides face each other, an accidental confrontation may lead to an all-out war. Moreover, another Korean war that may become a thermonuclear war may result in the extinction of the nation and destruction of the world peace and security.

Although the country has been divided for several decades, the commonness as a homogeneous nation, which had been formed and consolidated over a long period of history of 5 000 years, is incomparably larger than the difference of the systems and ideologies caused by the division. If the whole nation achieves unity, gearing and subordinating everything to national reunification, they can solve any problem.

Based on these principles, Kim Il Sung ensured that the north-south joint statement whose essence is the three principles of national reunification was made public on July 4, 1972. The joint statement won the full support and approval of the entire Korean nation and broad international community and became the cornerstone for Korea’s reunification.

In 2000, a historic north-south summit meeting was held for the first time in the history of Korea’s division and the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was adopted with the principle of By Our Nation Itself as its basic spirit. The core of the declaration was, as the phrase indicates, the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity.

In 2018, summit meetings were held again, and April 27 Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration were adopted, opening up a new phase noteworthy in the Korean people’s struggle for national reunification. The three principles for national reunification remained as an unshakable cornerstone also in these declarations.

The history clearly shows that the three principles for national reunification put forward by President Kim Il Sung are the most reasonable and realistic fundamental principles and way for Korea’s reunification.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Kumsusan Palace of Sun

 Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, together with the participants in the Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the WPK, visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the occasion of the greatest memorial day of the nation.

Accompanying him were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

 

The sacred temple of Juche was overflowing with ardent yearning and boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung and

Chairman Kim Jong Il, the great leaders who pioneered and added luster to the glorious history of the ever-victorious WPK.

The participants entered the palace with a feeling of solemnity, overwhelmed by the great honor and excitement of having received an important Party-building programme for the new era run through with the outstanding ideo-theoretical wisdom of the respected Comrade

Pyongyang, July 7 (KCNA) -- The Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was held at the April 25 House of Culture on July 2-6.

The WPK Central Committee organized the special workshop to more definitely propel the strengthening of the whole Party and socialist construction by squarely impressing the officials in the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees with the importance of their Party responsibility in further strengthening the Party as required by the new phase, in which the revolution develops and our Party's overall guidance is further deepened, and with the tasks and ways for improving the Party life guidance at present.

 

The special workshop, the first of its kind in the history of the WPK, is of important and practical significance in establishing the Party Central Committee's monolithic leadership system more thoroughly across the Party and society, realizing the organizational and ideological consolidation of the Party ranks in every way and markedly enhancing the leadership function and role of the Party.

Attending the workshop were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Jong Kyong Thaek, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army (KPA), vice-directors of the Organizational Leadership Department of the Party Central Committee and officials concerned of the provincial, city and county Party committees and other Party committees performing the same function and the political departments at all levels of the KPA.

There took place a two-day meeting and a three-day technical course to comprehensively review the work of the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees at all levels and improve the Party life organization and guidance in a revolutionary way by decisively enhancing the political and practical qualifications and ability of Party officials.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un declared the opening of the Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the WPK and made an important conclusion illuminating the unique idea and theory on building the Party organizations at a new historic stage of our revolution.

The General Secretary said that today when our revolution has entered an important stage of laying a foundation for the overall development of socialist construction while squarely overcoming trials and challenges in all fields, whether we translate the fighting programme set forth at the 8th Party Congress into brilliant reality or not depends on the fighting efficiency, activity and leadership art of the Party organizations in relevant regions and units. Party life, the main function of the Party organizational departments, is important in enhancing the role of the Party organizations, he added.

He noted that the Party life guidance is the basis of the Party activities and the system of guiding the Party life of officials and Party members through the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees at all levels is the main guidance line of the Party Central Committee for mobilizing the whole Party and enhancing the Party's leadership and fighting efficiency.

Saying that the Party life guidance sections of the Party organizational departments can be said to play the role of blood vessel and nerve gland firmly linking the Party organizations with the Party Central Committee as an organism, he stressed that the strengthening of the basic organizations and the unity of the whole Party by and large depend on the role of the Party life guidance sections since the Party Central Committee's revolutionary policies on the Party organizations' activities and the Party members' life are conveyed and assigned to the Party organizations through the Party life guidance sections and the results of overall activities of the Party organizations at all levels are concentrated on the Party Central Committee through the Party life guidance sections.

Noting that our Party has powerfully guided socialist construction while further cementing the political position and displaying its fighting efficiency despite manifold harsh trials and challenges, he said it would have been unthinkable without the activities of the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees at all levels. He added it is none other than the Party life guidance sections that are responsible for grasping and propelling the execution of such important tasks assigned to the Party organizations as the tasks of applying the people-first principle, the main political idea of our Party, in the overall Party work, establishing a revolutionary Party climate of unconditional and devoted service to the people, making city and county Party organizations the powerful staffs steering their regional development, bringing about a revolutionary turn in cadres          affairs,          transforming          the     Party  ranks  into          elites  and     further strengthening the primary Party committees, the main combat units in implementation of the Party policies, as well as turning the Party cells into healthy and viable ones closely knitted in the bonds of kinship.

Noting that it can be said that the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of the Party are the main axis of implementing the idea and policies on Party building set forth by the Party Central Committee as regards the eternal guidelines for the Party and the revolution, he added that this is the definition of the position and duty of the Party life guidance sections in Party building and activities.

 

Saying that the more the revolution advances, the more the responsible mission and important role of the Party life guidance sections are highlighted in ensuring the Party Central Committee's guidance over the Party organizations, making our Party an integral organization with firm base and enlisting the masses in the implementation of the Party's policies, he stressed that it is the demand and principle kept in building our Party that its organizational departments should always take the lead in the work for strengthening the Party and the officials in the Party life guidance sections should be a standard-bearer in doing so.

He said it is the important work directly linked with the future-oriented development of the Party that the officials in the Party life guidance sections, who are the main force in enhancing the functions and roles of Party committees at all levels and improving the political and practical qualifications of party officials and are at the position of organizing and guiding the Party life of its members, are well versed in the method and the principle of Party work peculiar to our Party and possess high political and practical abilities and qualities as befits a genuine Party official. From this viewpoint, the Party Central Committee places great importance on the current special workshop and urges the officials in the Party life guidance sections to surely fulfill their leading, core and vanguard role in further enhancing the Party's fighting efficiency and guide and help the Party organizations and officials firmly preserve the revolutionary Party spirit and effectively implement the Party policies and thus make the good feature of the Party be always maintained, he stressed.

Referring to the purport of convening the current workshop with special care in the wake of several conferences and inter-section workshops held as part of the work for improving the Party work method of Party departments and sections in recent years, he said that to enhance the working ability of the officials in the Party life guidance sections is surely an essential and revolutionary process in the course of strengthening our Party into a promising, revolutionary and socialist ruling party with high fighting efficiency, adding that herein lies the significance of the special workshop.

Analyzing in detail the actual conditions in which the work done by the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees doesn't meet the demand and intention of the Party Central Committee and their causes, he stressed that it is the purpose of the Party Central Committee which organizes the special workshop and the most important and core issue to be solved urgently in the development of our Party to rearm the officials in the Party life guidance sections in order to make the sections fulfill their duty, function and role in steadily

 

strengthening the Party life guidance system peculiar to our Party and improve their political and practical qualifications and political awareness.

In his conclusion, he clarified the basic duty of the officials in the Party life guidance sections and major four-point principles and six-point tasks to be maintained in the Party life organization and guidance.

He called upon the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees at all levels to creditably discharge their function and role as central departments, the nervous departments of the Party by becoming the nerve center thoroughly realizing the Party Central Committee's guidance over relevant areas and units and thus proficiently and thoroughly enlisting the Party organizations to the implementation of Party's policies.

He stressed that it is the main duty facing the Party life guidance sections at present to fully ensure the Party Central Committee's leadership by thoroughly grasping and controlling the Party organizations at all levels and intensifying the Party life organization and guidance over officials and Party members.

Saying that it is the Party life guidance to raise the Party members' political awareness, organize and mobilize them to implementing the Party's policies and train them thoroughly into the transparent revolutionaries, he stressed that when the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees intensify the control and guidance to make sure that all the Party organizations arm the officials, Party members and other working people with the Party Central Committee's revolutionary idea, line and policy and arouse them to their implementation as the political staffs of relevant areas and units while moving as one and conducting dynamic activities, they can firmly guarantee the successful implementation of the decisions of the Party Congress and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and certainly realize the plan and determination of the Party Central Committee for our state's prosperity and development and the people's wellbeing.

He specially stressed that all the Party organizations should regard it as the main iron rule of Party life guidance to establish the discipline absolutely obeying the monolithic leadership of the Party Central Committee.

He said that the Party life guidance should be oriented to making sure that practical achievements are made in implementing the Party's policies, including the decisions of the Party Congress and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee, and directed to thoroughly establishing the revolutionary Party life trait among officials and Party members, building up the Party ranks and consolidating the mass foundation of the Party.

He called for activating proper guidance and assistance to strengthen the ranks of cadres, thoroughly improve the working method and style of officials and decisively raise their political and practical abilities.

He said that the officials in the Party life guidance sections should be exemplary in further strengthening the Party organizational work, steadily improving the working method and cultivating pure fighting traits and style, and become genuine revolutionaries and true communists fully embodying our Party's revolutionary traits and commanding art.

Stressing again the importance of the responsibility and duty of the officials in the Party life guidance sections which is to reliably defend the banner of Juche and stubbornly guide the Party organizations and popular masses to the successful execution of our Party's action programme, the General Secretary said that the fighting efficiency of the Party life guidance sections is precisely that of the organizational departments and our Party.

Expressing the great belief that the participants in the workshop would fully play their core role in accomplishing the sacred cause of our Party, he ardently appealed all of them to more energetically and resolutely struggle for the fighting efficiency of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea, the great Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Party, and for the strengthening and development of the great people's Party, rallied close as one in mind and purpose around the Party Central Committee.

When he finished his conclusion, all the participants burst into enthusiastic cheers with boundless trust, ardent worship and burning pledge of loyalty to Kim Jong Un, the great teacher, peerlessly political thinker-theoretician and outstanding leader of the Juche revolution who provided more seasoned and original tactics and methodology for the Party political activities and an immortal great programme for the Party organizational construction in the new era to powerfully steer the new development phase of our-style socialism, constantly enhancing the fighting efficiency of our Party through his energetic ideo-theoretical activities for the party building.

His important conclusion is a classic document as it gave scientific answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in turning the Party into an organizationally solid and powerful integral whole by improving and strengthening the work of Party life guidance sections as demanded by the important stage of our Party's struggle and the historic period for overcoming the unprecedented challenges and bringing a fresh victory on the overall fronts of socialist construction and clarified a new Party-building idea on realizing the leadership of a socialist ruling party, and it is also a strong motive force for the developing revolution, a weapon for practice and a banner of struggle.

At the workshop, Jo Yong Won, Presidium member of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, made a report on the review of the work of the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees at all levels and then there were speeches.

The report referred to the immortal feats of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who provided more powerful ideo-theoretical and methodological weapons for the strengthening of the whole Party through his tireless Party-building ideo-theoretical activities.

The reporter stressed that it is a fundamental guarantee for the strengthening of the Party and the victorious advance of socialist construction to establish in the whole Party and society a steel-like organizational discipline moving as one under the unified leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un, thoroughly arm with his revolutionary idea and implement his unique Party-building idea and political ideology in the new era perfectly, correctly and comprehensively.

The report and speeches analyzed and reviewed in depth the work of the past period in accordance with the intention of the Party Central Committee to bring about a revolutionary turn in the Party life organization and guidance, the basis of the Party organizational work.

Presented to the workshop were the successes, experiences, deviations and lessons gained and revealed in the work for establishing the unified leadership system of the General Secretary more firmly across the Party and society, building up the Party ranks and enhancing the function and role of the Party organizations, strengthening the guidance over the Party life of officials and Party members, implementing the revolutionary mass line of the Party and grasping and guiding the execution of the Party policies.

At the workshop, the past work of relevant units and officials was estimated anatomically in positive and negative aspects. And emphasized was the issue for the officials in the Party life guidance sections to decisively enhance their political and practical level and work ability and fulfill their crucial responsibility and duty in the van of the struggle for strengthening the Party organizations.

At the technical course to firmly arm with the idea and policy set forth by the General Secretary in his important conclusion, the validity, scientific accuracy and vitality of the idea on building the Party organizations were explained theoretically and profoundly. It also dealt in detail with the ways for thoroughly applying in the practice of the Party work the tasks facing the Party life guidance sections.

Carefully listening to the lectures and watching video clips on the methods of operating and guiding a party meeting, the participants acquired the principle of the Juche-based party work and the knack of how to conduct party work.

The participants deeply grasped the ideas and theories of the Party Central Committee on the Party organizational construction, exchanging and sharing the multi-side opinions on the issues arising in the practice of the Party work with the speakers. They also actively cultivated their political and practical qualifications and ability, acquiring the methods for bringing about a decisive turn in the Party life organization and guidance one by one.

Through the technical course, the participants hardened their determination and readiness to bring a new improvement in the Party life organization and guidance over the officials and Party members as intended by the Party Central Committee, realizing once again their heavy responsibilities and duties in adhering to and augmenting the political leadership ability of the Party.

Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on July 8 had a significant photo session with the participants in the Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the WPK at the garden of the office building of the Party Central Committee.

Present at the photo session were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Hi Yong and Chon Thae Gil, first vice directors of the Organizational Leadership Department of the Party Central Committee.

Crimes Done by U.S. Imperialists in Korean War

 

Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- During the Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953), the U.S. imperialist aggressors had destroyed and plundered precious cultural assets of the Korean nation in different parts of the DPRK.

In 1951, the U.S. air pirates dropped bombs at random on Yujom Temple, the largest one of the four famous temples in Mt Kumgang, thus destroying more than 40 buildings, stone lantern, nine-storied pagoda and other cultural heritages at the temple. They also reduced to ashes Yongmyong Temple in Pyongyang, Pohyon Temple in Mt Myohyang, Sokwang Temple in Mt Ko and Jangan, Phyohun and Singye temples in Mt Kumgang.

The Pubyok Pavilion in Pyongyang, the Puyong Pavilion in Haeju City, the Tongmyong House in Songchon County of South Phyongan Province, the Nam Gate in Kaesong City, the Nam Gate in Uiju County of North Phyongan Province, the Wisong House in Huichon City of Jagang Province, etc. were destroyed by the bombing attack of the U.S. imperialists.

The U.S. imperialists used the three tombs in Kangso, the national treasure of the country, as an ammunition depot and the Ryonggang twin- pillared tomb as a prison. They committed an unpardonable atrocity of destroying the Tomb No. 3 in Anak.

The U.S. imperialist aggressors plundered many cultural assets in the temporary occupation areas of the DPRK.

They attacked the then State Central History Museum in Pyongyang for a week to plunder thousands of pieces of precious cultural heritages, including 100-odd pieces of national treasure-level historical relics.

They also plundered tens of thousands of historical relics at history museums in Wonsan, Hamhung, Haeju and other parts of the DPRK as well as many historical remains at temples.

They dug out hundreds of tombs in the area of Jongbaek-dong, Rangnang District of Pyongyang City, early in November 1950 to steal thousands of pieces of historical remains.

They even stormed into inhabitants' houses to loot such heirlooms as Koryo ceramics, precious metals and gold rings and personal ornaments.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hits at Hostility of U.S. and Its Vassal Forces

 

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the DPRK Foreign Ministry Saturday gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA as regards the fact that the U.S. and its vassal forces openly revealed their hostility towards the DPRK during the recent NATO summit:

During the recent NATO summit, the chief executives of the U.S., Japan and south Korea put their heads together for confrontation with the DPRK and discussed the dangerous joint military countermeasures against it including the launch of tripartite joint military exercises, taking issue with its legitimate exercise of the right to self-defense for no ground.

The U.S. and its vassal forces inserted a hostile expression of finding fault with the DPRK's measure for bolstering its military capability for self- defense in a new "strategic concept" adopted at the NATO summit.

Such anti-DPRK row of the hostile forces synchronizes with the start of the RIMPAC joint military exercises, the U.S.-led multinational naval combined exercises, and south Korea's military lunacy to destroy peace and stability in the Korean peninsula as well as the Asia-Pacific region through the largest-ever scale dispatch of its naval force.

The recent NATO summit more clearly proves that the U.S. pursues a plan to contain Russia and China at the same time by realizing the "militarization" of Europe and forming a military alliance like NATO in the Asia-Pacific region and keeps the U.S.-Japan-south Korea tripartite military alliance as an important means for materializing the plan.

Owing to the reckless military moves of the U.S. and its vassal forces, dangerous situation, in which a nuclear war might break out simultaneously in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, has been created and the world peace and security came to be placed in the most critical condition after the end of the Cold War.

The reality clearly shows that the real purpose of the U.S. spreading the rumor about "threat from north Korea" is to provide an excuse for attaining military supremacy over the Asia-Pacific region including the Korean Peninsula, and furthermore, the rest of the world.

The prevailing situation more urgently calls for building up the country's defences to actively cope with the rapid aggravation of the security environment of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world.

The DPRK will reliably defend the sovereignty and interests of the country and its territory from all sorts of threats caused by the hostile acts of the U.S. and its vassal forces and fulfill its responsible duty to ensure peace and security ln the Korean Peninsula and the region.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Official Lashes at G7 Summit

 

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Jo Chol Su, director general of the Department of International Organizations of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, Saturday gave the following answer to a question put by the KCNA over the fact that the G7 summit released a joint statement finding fault with the DPRK's self-defensive measures:

Shortly ago, the G7, a group representing the interests of a small number of states including the U.S. and Japan, took issue with the DPRK for no ground.

The G7 is not qualified for behaving itself as "defender of international order" and "guardian of human rights" in any respect.

Among the G7 is a country that has massively developed, deployed and sold lethal weapons for aggression with investment of huge funds, as the world's biggest nuclear weapons state, and does not hesitate to proliferate the nuclear technology for its ambition for hegemony.

And included in it a country that killed many innocent civilians while engaging itself in aggression against sovereign states in wanton violation of the international laws including the UN Charter and those that have fished in troubled waters by inciting confrontation and conflicts among other countries.

Among it, there are also the typical countries that have failed to prevent the global pandemic, causing the worldwide "lack of vaccine" and claiming many human losses due to poor reaction to the crisis only to seek their own interests.

Such G7 now finds fault with other countries for no ground and admonishes them, setting double standards for its narrow-mindedness and unjustifiable interests and temper. This behavior itself is a mockery and insult to the world community.

Our step for bolstering up the self-defensive military capability is a reasonable and legitimate exercise of the right to self-defence to defend our state's rights and interests from the threat of the U.S., the world biggest nuclear weapons state and wrecker to world peace and security. So, nobody has a right to blame it

We will never stand back on the road of justice for defending the dignity and rights of our state whatever words from others.

The G7 is little short of a "group of nobles" that makes desperate efforts to recover their old position while lamenting over their fate destined to sink like the setting sun. It has neither ability nor justification to lead the world community and right to teaching other countries nor right to admonish others.

U.S. Should Face Justice for its Crimes of War and Massacre

 

The U.S. is facing criticism from the international society as it is issuing an annual report on “human rights situation” of other countries.

This year, too, the U.S.is said to have contained in its report an analysis of and advice to human rights situations of more than 200 countries, according to American-style “democracy” and “values”.

If so, we come to this question. Is the U.S. qualified to do so even though it abuses human right standard and jurisdiction which were not codified in any law, and proclaims itself as “human rights judge of the world”?

The answer to this question can be found easily in just a few facts which tell the U.S. crimes of war and massacre among the numerous U.S. criminal human rights record.

An American historian pointed out that the history of the U.S. is full of war and expansion, and a war is Americans’ way of life. He also said that it was only 16 years when there was no war in its 240-year-long history. Among 248 wars waged between 1945 and 2001, 201 wars were ignited by the U.S. One of them is the Korean War which broke out on June 25, 1950.

During the 3-year-long Korean War, the U.S. had committed crimes of slaughtering 2.47millions of innocent civilians. And it occupied south Korea illegally and has inflicted miseries and pains of national division on our nation for more than half a century.

 As we entered the 21st century, the U.S. killed more than 800,000 people by launching “counter-terrorism”. In consequence, as many as tens of millions of refugees were made.

The U.S. used not only bloody wars, but also an indirect war weapon termed economic “sanctions” against sovereign states, depriving the countless people of their rights to life and existence.

Owing to the U.S. sanctions, 1 million innocent people lost their lives in Iraq from 1991 to 2003, and a tragic incident occurred in Venezuela where 40,000 people were killed in 2018.

It is a universally recognized principle of the international law to criminalize and punish war provocation and massacre. There also exist not a few international treaties that stipulate thereon.

Sanctions against sovereign countries are also condemned as massacre by the international society as they are clear violation of international law such as the UN Charter and human rights conventions. Recently, resolutions were adopted in the international arena, including UNGA and UNHRC, calling for a withdrawal of the coercive and unilateral U.S. sanctions.

However, like a guilty party filing a lawsuit first, the U.S. poses as a “judge” to dispute with other countries over their human rights issues. This is a disgrace to and a mockery of the international society.

There is no legal basis stipulating that the American “democracy” and “values” could be applied as international human rights standard. Moreover, the U.S. has never been qualified for a “human rights judge of the world”.

The U.S. should examine itself before the international society not as a “human rights judge” but as a criminal of war and massacre, and it should be brought to justice of the world.

“Humanitarian Aid”: What is it Aiming for?

 

The U.S. and its followers are now making crafty attempts in the United Nations (UN) to misuse the humanitarian aid to the DPRK for their ulterior political purpose.

Following is the typical example of it. In the UN General Assembly and UN Security Council (UNSC), they are misleading public opinion as if our country is faced with “humanitarian crisis” by the cut-off of the outside assistance in the wake of the closure of border over a long period of time. They are also pretending to be interested in “humanitarian aid”, harping on about “cooperation without preconditions”.

The U.S. and its followers have been in a frenzy to isolate and stifle us politically, economically and militarily. But, all of sudden, they have turned themselves into “humanitarians” talking about “aid”. This makes us suspicious about what their real intention is.

As has been known, the U.S. has never recognized our sovereignty, taking the DPRK as an enemy state since the very day of its foundation. And it has been openly hostile to socialism chosen by our people.

The U.S. has annually staged war drills of all kinds on the Korean peninsula and its surrounding land and waters for the last several decades, and threatened us by frequently deploying many of its military hardware in south Korea.

In recent years alone, the U.S. and its followers took issue with our self- defensive measures and viciously attempted to adopt additional “sanctions resolutions” in UNSC. They also openly laid bare their dangerous attempt to overpower us militarily by providing “extended deterrence” with nuclear weapon as its core.

In regard of such behavior of the U.S., the international society is now raising its voice that the U.S. must take practical action to withdraw its anti-DPRK hostile policy rather than paying lip service to “dialogue without preconditions” and “diplomatic engagement”.

The U.S. is clamoring for so-called “humanitarian assistance” while getting overheated in anti-DPRK isolation and pressure. It is aimed at escaping criticism from the international society leveled at it.

The U.S. and the Western countries, the biggest failed states in anti- epidemic measures, are saying this or that about other’s anti-epidemic policy. But it is sheer folly of those accustomed to justifying themselves by picking on others.

Life safety and well-being of the people stand as the top priority for the DPRK government. Thanks to its pre-emptive and scientific anti-epidemic policy, our country set the longest record of zero case in the world anti- epidemic history. Even in the current emergency, we are stably containing and controlling the spread in such a short period.

If the U.S. and its followers cling to their vain scheme to mislead public opinion by turning black into white, they will end up with their shabby looks being exposed to the international society.

The U.S. and the Western countries should strain their nerves to clean up their own mess of holding the unquestioned lead in the number of infected and dead cases of COVID-19, rather than busying themselves with producing a clumsy farce by letting loose an empty talk of “humanitarian aid”.

 

 

The Sinister Aim of Joint Military Exercises Disclosed

 

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- The United States tries to stage Pacific Dragon joint military exercises together with Japan, south Korea and others in Hawaii within August.

The Pacific Dragon exercises had been staged behind closed doors, in most cases, under the signboard of "mastering the ability of detecting and tracking ballistic missiles" by the U.S. with involvement of Japan and south Korea.

However, the military top brass of the U.S., Japan and south Korea held a meeting on June 11, where they decided to stage the exercises overtly and regularly to further strengthen their security cooperation. They also decided to open to the public the period and contents of this year's Pacific Dragon exercise in advance as well as the whole course of the exercises.

Moreover, the U.S. decided to conduct the U.S.-Japan-south Korea missile-warning drill, which has been staged intermittently so far, once in a quarter regularly and overtly.

This shows that the U.S. is sticking to the scheme for militarily grasping Japan and south Korea in a more undisguised and frantic manner.

The U.S. is getting hell-bent on the military cooperation with its stooges in disregard of the primary security demand and concern by Asia-pacific countries. It aims at containing the rivals such as China and Russia and gratifying the wild ambition for world domination as well as perfecting the preparations for aggression on the DPRK by realizing the U.S.-Japan-south Korea military alliance, a long-cherished desire of the U.S.

Just after the Second World War, the U.S. regarded the U.S.-Japan-south Korea triangular military alliance as the core element of its Asia strategy and built its framework through the conclusion of the U.S.-Japan Security Pact and the U.S.-south Korea "mutual defense treaty". And it had propelled the military cooperation between Japan and south Korea to form the tripartite military alliance.

Dulles, former U.S. Secretary of State, claimed before that the separate bilateral treaties between Japan and the U.S., between Taiwan and the U.S. and between south Korea and the U.S. should be put together in any form. The fact goes to prove that the U.S. had long taken pains for the formation of the tripartite military alliance.

Such design of the U.S. has become more undisguised, occasioned by the inauguration of Kishida regime in Japan, which openly calls for increasing the defense spending and possessing the "capability to attack enemy bases", and the assumption to power of the pro-U.S. and pro- Japanese conservative forces in south Korea, which advocate the confrontation with the DPRK.

It can be proved by the recent moves of the U.S. which vociferates stronger than ever before about normal implementation of the Japan-south Korea military intelligence agreement, talking about the U.S.-Japan-south Korea security cooperation.

The scheme for the formation of the U.S.-Japan-south Korea military alliance, motivated by Japan's and south Korea's kowtowing to the U.S., is evidently a dangerous prelude to the creation of "Asian version of NATO".

The U.S. moves for establishing a unilateral international order based on its value concept lead to the onset of "new Cold War" era in the Asia- pacific region and the formation of the acute confrontation structure of strength for strength.

The reckless military moves of the U.S. will not escape the curse and rejection of the international community.

China and other countries in the region denounce such moves of the U.S. as an overbold demonstration of muscle and a dangerous attempt to destroy the balance of power.

The escalation of tension in the Asia-pacific region incurred by the imprudent military provocations by the U.S. will primarily have a negative impact on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

As the U.S. specially defined the DPRK as a "major threat destabilizing the region" for no ground while mapping out Indo-pacific strategy aimed at containing China, the joint military exercises staged by the U.S., Japan and south Korea in the Asia-pacific region can be said to target the DPRK in the first instant.

Conservative media of south Korea are busy building up public opinion that the aim of the Pacific Dragon exercises is to cope with "ballistic missile threat" of the DPRK. This shows that the joint military exercises are clearly targeting the DPRK and that the U.S. hostile policy to stifle the DPRK has entered a more dangerous phase.

The reality urgently urges the DPRK to take every possible measure for bolstering up its military capability for defending the country's sovereignty and the people's well-being and awakens the countries in the Asia-pacific region.

The reckless military confrontation moves of the U.S. and its vassal forces becoming pronounced in the Asia-pacific region will only bring about catastrophic consequences of self-destruction.

Enlarged Meeting of Secretariat of WPK Central Committee Held

 

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- An enlarged meeting of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was held at the office building of the WPK Central Committee on Monday.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, presided over the meeting.

Attending it were members of the Secretariat of the WPK Central Committee.

Present as observers were directors of relevant departments, the first vice-director of the Organizational Leadership Department and vice- department directors of the WPK Central Committee.
