Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Makes Significant Speech at Banquet for Celebrating KPA Birthday

 

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a passionate speech at a banquet for celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on February 7.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

Comrade Generals, commanding officer of the heroic Korean People's Army present in this significant place,

Today is the 75th birthday of our army.

At this moment when I recollect the proud history of the People's Army, which has written an epic of glorious tradition, brilliant victory and honor in the long course of struggle spanning 27 395 days since the day when its birth was welcomed with cheers, I am haunted by the unforgettable names and images of the service personnel of the preceding generations who devoted themselves to defending the vigorous advance of the ever-victorious Korean revolution and boosting the invincibility and mightiness of our state.

I am also haunted by the images of all the servicepersons of the KPA firmly standing at the front line, border and other posts and socialist construction sites to defend the eternal prosperity of the motherland and the well-being and happiness of the people even this evening and at this moment of glory.

Upon authorization by our Party and government, I pay high tribute to the anti- Japanese revolutionary forerunners who provided the origin of the tradition of victory immortal in the history of the hard-fought struggle of the revolutionary armed forces, and to the fallen fighters of the People's Army, the respected veterans and the army commanding officers of the preceding generations who passed away.

I also extend warm congratulations to all the officers and men of the KPA and the armed forces of the DPRK through you, commanding officers and generals at all levels present here.

My best wishes and heartfelt thanks also go to all the people and officers' wives who have absolutely supported and encouraged our Party's line of building a powerful army and its defense policy, put forward their beloved husbands and children to national defense and devoted themselves to strengthening the defense capabilities of the country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that there is no such a heroic and patriotic army remaining faithful to its cause as the KPA in the world and everybody knows its devotion to defending the Korean revolution without any vacillation despite the harsh challenges, hoping that the officers and men of the KPA who has always gone to the trouble of overcoming hardships will celebrate their holiday justly, proudly, honorably and significantly amid the blessings by all the people even today, the Day of Army Founding.

He further said:

Comrade Generals and the officers and men of the People's Army,

What kind of force drives the unprecedentedly arduous Korean revolution and what makes our state invincible and how is our ideal and future shaped.

The most veritable answer to this and the fairest appreciation by history are found in the 75-year-long history of our army.

The more we look back on how our revolutionary cause is defended, how our Party's idea and the lines are safeguarded and how our national flag has fluttered at the peak of honor, the more we value the noble blood shed by our army officers and men for victory and their endless feats.

In the initial period after its founding, our army clarified its original mission of sharing the same destiny with the Party and started a long bloody journey to remain faithful to it. This has become a fundamental factor in making our history of army building be one that can never be separated from the history of the struggle of the Party, the revolution, the country and the people and in enabling the 75-year-long history of our army to be recorded in the grandest way.

A history of righteous strength was made on this land, proving through a hard-won victory the truth that the dignity and honor are only given to the strong and the validity of the revolutionary cause is verified only through victory, and independence and self- sufficiency are only guaranteed by self-reliance in defense.

The KPA is the army of the Party, the army of the people, the army of the government and the army of the class which defends and realizes everything the dearest and most urgent to our destiny and future, and the army that bears hardships before anyone else and is ready to make sacrifices. These are the precious names that our People's Army has won at the cost of blood and lives and that should be maintained through centuries and generations.

What we value more than anything else and are fully proud of today is the fact that the baton of the revolutionary army of the Party, the history and tradition of loyalty, has been steadily carried forward.

Even under the harsh circumstances as now, our army is demonstrating its inexhaustible strength as the armed forces of the Workers' Party of Korea and the vanguard of the class. This is from A to Z attributable to the fact that the red soul, the noble mission, the staunch revolutionary spirit and the fighting spirit of death-defying resistance possessed by the first generation of the revolutionary armed forces with arms have remained unchanged even today when its fifth and sixth generations have appeared.

The highest honor of the 75-year-long history of our People’s Army lies in the great succession which continues staunchly and vigorously despite the passage of time and the storms of history.

I am quite sure that though the commanding officers and soldiers of the new generation, comprising up the main force of our revolutionary armed forces, have experienced neither a grim revolutionary war, nor a difficult period of the revolution, they inherited the absolute loyalty peculiar to our People’s Army and the characteristics of the preceding generations that shed blood and sweat and sacrifice themselves without hesitation, if the revolution calls for it.

Our service persons have fought vigorously not only in frontline combat positions where they confront with the enemy directly but also in all parts of the country where legendary victories and miracles are made, and the red military colors associated with their loyalty and patriotic traditions have been fluttered there.

Whenever I watch our service persons fighting like phoenix with the might of will surpassing their mental and physical limitations in the theaters of defending the national rights and the people and those of epoch-making creation, I take off my hat to their feature.

As our army takes a noble view of life that there is only the honor on the road of sharing the same destiny with the Party and carrying out its orders, I have thought of our army when the situation of the country is difficult and entrusted it with greater tasks of struggle, and our army has never hesitated to respond to the Party’s call.

When I am determined to share the same destiny with our army, feeling the great honor of being the supreme commander who leads such a fine army, I feel the greatest delight.

Lots of changes have been made and the appearance of our army has changed beyond recognition for a long period since its early days, but the look of our faithful army, which always stands firmly in the van of the revolution, come rain or shine, and shoulders the heavy burden that no one can dare, remains unchanged.

Its succeeding as well as its pioneering were so great that our army could be able to win the fulfilling call of the times and history as the strongest army in the world.

Kim Jong Un said that our army's gallant, dignified, strong and tough look is a trait peculiar to it grounded in the special pride and strong self-respect that its life is devoted to the greatest sacred cause and its arms serve the most just cause in the world, and the display of an irresistible might unique to our army that comes from the extraordinary sense of responsibility and superhuman will that it can neither be broken nor collapse until it has fulfilled the duty entrusted by the Party Central Committee.

Noting that the appearance of our state growing tougher and stronger in the face of hardships and ordeals is a mirror of the fighting army and the names of heroic service personnel shine along with the peak dignity of our people, he said with pride that there are hundreds of countries and not a few armies boasting of their long history and traditions in the world, but it is only the KPA that shares life and death with the Party, the country and the people, adds to their prestige and greatness and defends their high honor and rosy future in the whole course of its development.

He declared that the DPRK has finally cultivated the great and absolute strength, getting over untold pain and suffering for the sake of eternal peace, genuine prosperity and development on this land and for the good of posterity.

He said that the KPA should brave trials as always, holding higher the slogans "Let the People's Army take charge of both national defense and socialist construction!" and "When the Party is determined, we can do anything!"

He went on to say:

I never doubt that you will be as brave as always, dedicating your lives to the eternal prosperity of the country and the wellbeing of the people, true to the letters written on the glorious military colors.

Affirming that I will always share life and death, weal and woe to you, I entrust you and our People's Army with the forefront of the revolution.

I wish all of you good health and hope that you will become commanding officers making selfless and devoted efforts for the good of our soldiers.

I entrust you with our service members.

Let us all redouble efforts and work harder to strengthen and develop our army and to achieve the prosperity and development of our socialist country.

I hope, with my hand on my heart, that the wellbeing of the people and the country's peace will be promoted in proportion to the efforts made by the People's Army.

I'd like to propose a toast to the health of army celebrities here and the health of the officers and men of the entire army, to the glory of the People's Army and to the eternity of its great honor.

Military Parade Marks 75th KPA Birthday

 

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The Korean People's Army (KPA) has taken the lead in accomplishing the great cause of building up a rich country with a strong army, while displaying its glory and might as the armed forces of the great Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) that built a powerful socialist country, independent in politics, self- supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence, for the first time in the 5 000-year-old history of the nation. 75 years of its heroic struggle are shining in the history of the Juche revolution.

The KPA, which inherited the revolutionary traditions of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Army as its lifeblood, has covered the steady course of victory, performing brilliant feats in the struggle to defend the country and the people while regarding the absolute loyalty to the idea and leadership of the WPK as a duty for its existence and development. And it has developed into the iron fist of Juche Korea and entity of the tremendous national power which has placed our country in the front rank of world powers.

A grand military parade was held at Kim Il Sung Square in the capital city of Pyongyang on Feb. 8 to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the KPA, the revolutionary armed forces of the WPK.

At the parade venue where the birth of the regular armed forces, the soul and symbol of an independent and sovereign state, was declared, the KPA made the first stride towards attaining the goal of becoming an elite army with its sacred mission and grand ambition, amid the enthusiastic cheers and great expectation of all the people.

Our young regular armed forces developed into the most powerful entity that stockpiled overwhelming force capable of successfully frustrating the arbitrary practices of the imperialists, by building up their capabilities with the red idea and self-reliance in the arduous and protracted course of the revolution thanks to the WPK's original self-defensive military idea and distinguished leadership. Today they will enter the square of significant parade celebrating the 75th birthday of the KPA, demonstrating their tremendous strength to the whole world.

At the square and main roads leading to it, there were units of all services and arms and ultra-modern military hardware of the mighty revolutionary armed forces.

The State Merited Chorus entered the square to play the parade music.

Encouraging the militant zeal for the parade, reliable paratroopers set off beautiful fireworks in the night sky and dropped with the flying flags of the DPRK and the WPK.

Then followed a ceremony of a combined military band resounding throughout the square with the melodies of revolutionary army songs.

Impressing the audience with the dynamic and militant tune like the sound of the footsteps of a mighty division crushing the enemy's position, the bandsmen showed a human five-point star symbolic of the history, tradition, supreme mission and invincibility of the People's Army and figures such as "2.8" and "75" and then the emblem of the Party and word "Kanggun" (strong army) at the square. And a KPA guard of honor gave a wonderful performance with arms.

The birth of the KPA inheriting the revolutionary spirit of April 25 was declared on February 8, Juche 37 (1948).

The ceremony revved up the festive atmosphere with dynamic rhythms and melodies showing the fact that the DPRK has dynamically advanced along the ever- victorious road with a firm guarantee for its dignity, sovereignty and right to development thanks to this day when the regular revolutionary armed forces were founded under the leadership of the great Party and that the KPA emerged as an invincible army defeating any formidable enemy.

Displaying the appearance of our revolutionary regular armed forces which have reliably defended the territorial land, waters and sky of the country, parade units entered the square with their glorious colors in front of them to the tune of the orchestral music of the parade.

Our revolutionary armed forces have created only the history of loyalty and feats in the sacred struggle for defending the Party and the revolution and the country after building an impregnable fortress around the Party Central Committee.

The parade soldiers and their arms reflected the might of the most powerful army that performed a historic feat in preventing another world war coming to the planet in the 1950s by fighting against the imperialist allied forces at its foundation period and that has upheld our country's invincibility and mightiness and reliably defended the global peace and justice with its matchless military force.

There was a ceremony of displaying the colors of KPA combined units. Those colors associated with the proud history of struggle of the heroic and patriotic army that has won victory after victory and glory after glory for the Korean revolution and for our great state and people century after century entered the square.

The colors of the KPA, the symbol of the strong revolutionary army's dignity and honor and the signpost of its faith, were displayed on the square course.

All the parade soldiers who lined up at the square, the officers and men of the whole army, were waiting for the historic time in solemn feeling when they would be reviewed by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the great leader of our Party, state and people, invincible and iron-willed commander and commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the DPRK.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, arrived at the square together with his beloved daughter and his wife Ri Sol Ju.

There was a solemn welcome ceremony of the KPA guard of honor.

Kim Jong Un reviewed the KPA guard of honor and the colors of major units of the armed forces of the Republic.

He was politely saluted by the commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence, commanders of large combined units and other KPA general officers.

The commanding officers paid the highest tribute to Kim Jong Un, who trained the People's Army into an reliable army of the Party, the people, the government and the class and made sure that the 75th anniversary of the Day of Army Founding was significantly celebrated as a great auspicious event of the whole country, the greatest parade which is a grand political and military festival, and as a great glory of the DPRK.

Kim Jong Un warmly encouraged the commanding officers who are demonstrating the militant spirit of the revolutionary army at the outposts of beefing up the military muscle and at every worksite for prosperity of the country and the people's happiness.

Amid the playing of welcome music, Kim Jong Un appeared at the tribune of the parade square.

In a moment, all the parade soldiers and participants in the celebrations raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!", shouting "Kim Jong Un" and "devoted defence" looking up to the great brilliant commander who opened up a period of great upturn in the development of the revolutionary armed forces and a new chapter of beefing up the military muscle with his outstanding military strategic ideas and rare commanding art and instilled them with confidence in rosy future of a powerful country of Juche, to turn the whole square into a scene of emotion.

Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering parade soldiers and the audience.

He was presented with bouquets by Children's Union members.

Taking the tribune were Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Ri Pyong Chol, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice- chairman of the Party Central Military Commission and secretary of the Party Central Committee, Ri Yong Gil, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the Party Central Committee, Kang Sun Nam, Pak Su Il, Jong Kyong Thaek and other leading officials of the armed forces organs and military and political commanding officers of KPA large combined units and combined units.

Together with the respected daughter of Kim Jong Un, Jo Yong Won, Presidium member of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Il Hwan, Kim Jae Ryong and Jon Hyon Chol, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, took the reserved seats for VIPs.

The reserved seats were also taken by the participants in the celebrations of the 75th KPA birthday and activists in displaying noble traits for assistance to the army who were invited as special delegates.

A ceremony of hoisting the DPRK's national flag was solemnly held.

The DPRK's flag proceeded to the flagstaff, held by the guards of honor, surrounded by the colors of all the units participating in the parade and KPA combined units at all levels.

The national flag of glory associated with the militant spirit of the strongest revolutionary armed forces with the sacred mission of elevating the national prestige and defending the sovereignty of the country and national interests was hoisted gradually amid the solemn playing of the DPRK national anthem.

The participants in the military parade, service personnel of the entire army and all the people of the DPRK paid the highest tribute to the national flag of Juche Korea associated with the noble life of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, founder and builders of our Party, state and army, and being flied high in the sky by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Fireworks were displayed and many balloons flew up displaying the unshakable will of all the people to ardently love and glorify the socialist country of Juche forever, to fill the square of military parade with emotion and joy.

Amid the solemn playing of the song "Glorious Motherland", 21 salute guns were fired.

Then followed a review of the preparations for the parade.

Kang Sun Nam, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, reported to Marshal Ri Pyong Chol, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission, that the military parade units lined up for the preparations for the parade.

Ri Pyong Chol inspected the parade units.

He courteously reported to Kim Jong Un that the military parade for celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of the KPA was ready.

At last, the grandiose military parade of the powerful revolutionary army which has recorded the glorious DPRK's ever-victorious history started.

Showing the true nature of our People's Army which has invariably and dynamically advanced along the road pioneered by the leader of the revolution and the history of succession of reliably carrying forward the guerrilla spirit, the honorary cavalry column appeared at the square at the head of the parade.

The column, symbolic of the 7th Regiment in the anti-Japanese war period which established the sacred tradition for steady continuation of the lifeline of the Juche revolution by creating the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, the soul and lifeblood of the Korean revolution, advanced with the first colors of our revolutionary armed forces bearing the letters "Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army".

Photos showing the solemn images of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners including Kim Chaek, An Kil, Choe Yong Gon, O Jung Hup, Kim Il, Kim Ju Hyon, O Paek Ryong and Kang Kon who provided the victorious tradition to be recorded in the history of revolutionary armed forces' struggle, were displayed in the van of the column along with the colors.

A column, symbolic of the Bodyguard Company which devotedly safeguarded the Supreme Headquarters during the Fatherland Liberation War, entered the square with portraits of such veteran revolutionaries from the company as Hyon Chol Hae, Yon Hyong Muk, Pak Song Bong, Sim Chang Wan and Jon Pyong Ho in its van.

The audience threw their eyes to those images of loyalists recorded in the history of army building, being convinced once again of the truth that the life of soldiers devoted to the most sacred revolutionary cause under the guidance of the great leader is everlasting in the memory of the Party, the country and the people despite the passage of time and replacement of generations.

The columns, symbolic of the 1st national defence division, the 2nd lightly-armed infantry division, the 3rd independent infantry brigade and the 4th infantry division recorded in the history of the great Fatherland Liberation War, also entered the square, displaying the spirit of the guards who defeated the nuclear-armed enemies with rifles and showing the portraits of Choe Kwang, Choe Hyon, Ryu Kyong Su, O Jin U, Nam Il and other commanding officers who left a distinct trace in the history of the units and the history of the development of our revolutionary armed forces.

Following the symbolic columns which clearly showed the sacred tradition and succession of the Juche revolution, the columns of soldiers under the Guard Office of the Party Central Committee, the Guard Department of the State Affairs Commission, the Bodyguard Department and the Bodyguard Command proudly marched along the square, proving the ever-victorious philosophy of service that devotedly defending the Party Central Committee precisely means the defence of the country, the advance and victory of the revolution.

Felt on each face of the military parade soldiers was the immutable truth that to devotedly safeguard the leader is the greatest mission our revolutionary armed forces have put forward as a signpost of faith since its foundation, the most brilliant feats they performed in the army-building history and the highest honor of our officers and men.

The columns of army groups keeping the highest alert on the frontline for defending the country took vigorous steps at the square, flying the flags of elite units, whose names strike terror into the enemy, with commanders in the van with their swords.

Felt on each column of field armed forces at the foremost frontline, which have taken the lead in carrying out the operational plan of the Party Central Committee, demonstrating the might of the KPA's eldest son corps and pivot corps, was the high spirit of forefront servicepersons in full readiness to annihilate the enemy.

Marching past the square were also the columns of the naval and air forces demonstrating their might as death-defying corps of the sea and shield of the sky, the columns of the strategic forces and special operation forces, symbolic of the irresistible might of the DPRK armed forces. They were filled with the fighting spirit to annihilate the enemies and bring victory when the Party Central Committee gives an order.

Kim Jong Un extended warm militant greetings to the guards who have devotedly defended the lineage of the Korean revolution and the idea and cause of our Party, always and reliably standing at the forefront of the revolution and class under any circumstances.

The parade members shouted "Hurrah!" at the top of their voices, looking up to the iron-willed brilliant commander who set forth the general duty of building the powerful army in the new era of the Juche revolution and the four-point line of strengthening the army and indicated a shortcut to bolstering up the military capabilities to remarkably strengthen our revolutionary armed forces into the WPK- style powerful army strong in politico-ideological, moral and ultra-modern technical aspects.

The columns of army corps defending the capital city of Pyongyang and the coasts, border line and depth of the rear in the country dynamically past the square seething with the dignity and high pride of parade columns marching with their colors of glory and the high pride and the militant spirit of the powerful army.

Marching past the square were columns of tank amour division and mechanized infantry division which are the iron striking groups to conquer the operational theatres at a go on the order of the Supreme Headquarters, and the column of the reconnaissance general bureau, and columns of specialist servicepersons including the 191 Command Intelligence Brigade.

When the column of the 1st mobile hospital entered the square, the audience extended warm congratulations and applauded the combatants in the field of military medicine who performed distinguished military feats, fully demonstrating the noble spiritual world of the reliable detachment of our Party and the revolutionary army in the great era of Kim Jong Un during the emergency anti-epidemic campaign for settling the public health crisis created in the capital city last year.

The columns of Kim Il Sung Military University, the highest seat of Juche-oriented military education, Kim Jong Il University of Military and Politics, the centre for training top-level military commanding officers of the country,

Kim Il Sung University of Politics, the pedigree establishment for training political officers of the People's Army, and other military schools at all levels marched past the square, showing the pledge to contribute to the Party's cause for strengthening the army by bringing about a revolution in military education kindled by the Party Central Committee.

Amid the playing of the eternal paean to the socialist country "We Are the Happiest in the World", the students of revolutionary schools, who are fully prepared as competent talents to give steady continuity to the revolutionary mainstream at the pedigree establishments for training the backbone guaranteeing the eternal future of the Juche cause, marched through the square in high spirits, decorating the end of the foot columns.

Kim Jong Un held high his hand to encourage the successors to the revolution marching with dignity, full of pledge to shoulder the rosy future of our revolutionary armed forces and the country by carrying forward the tradition of loyalty and patriotism handed down by the forerunners.

 

The conviction in the rosy future of the Juche power shining with the great sun and the boundless emotion erupted like lava.

The flight parade of the Juche-based air force began over the nocturnal sky of the square for celebrating the Day of Army Founding.

The death-defying airmen with the indomitable combat spirit instilled by the Party Central Committee flew in the air.

Air squadrons, in formations depicting the five-pointed star and the number "75", flew past the sky above the square while letting off fireworks to brighten the sky in February, representing the feats of the people's air force which has defended the blue sky of the country as the star of loyalty defending the sun in the nearest distance and the history of the powerful army.

The audience repeatedly exclaimed as a squadron in a fan-shape formation flew in the air to reflect the iron pledge of the pilots to make matchless myth in the air while flying only the route of devotedly defending the Party Central Committee.

The parade of columns of mechanized units started to show the history of self- reliant defence building recorded by the WPK which led the untrodden path of army building to the broad avenue of building a world-level military power for the dignity and security of the country and the people and genuine peace.

Entered the square were columns of carriages carrying the heavy machine-guns, which annihilated the enemy in the battles on Height 351 and Height 1211, and motorcycles, antitank artillery, direct-firing guns and tanks, symbolic of mechanized units in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War.

They were trifling weapons to stand in total confrontation with the imperialist allied forces led by the U.S. imperialists boasting of the myth of "mightiness". But those artillery pieces, which went through the hail of shells, are associated with the feats performed in the great years when the revolutionary armed forces guided by the great leader defeated the imperialist armed aggressors' numerical and technical superiority by dint of the politico-ideological and strategic and tactical superiority.

Appeared at the square following the columns of mechanized units were main military hardware of the KPA, displaying advanced, modern and strong nature of the DPRK's defence capabilities.

The demonstration of strength of justice started with cutting-edge military hardware of Juche Korea which rapidly emerged as the matchless superpower under the extraordinary military strategic idea and wise guidance of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, the invincible and iron-willed commander.

The column of main battle tanks, symbolic of the combat efficiency of the KPA and iron-fist, rolled past the square followed by the column of artillery force.

When the KPA's core offensive weapons with great mobility and striking ability appeared in the square, the audience enthusiastically clapped to them.

The columns of tactical missiles and long-range cruise missiles entered the square.

The tactical nuclear weapons operation units entered the square, demonstrating their dignity, matchless spirit, and powerful war deterrent and counterstrike ability.

The columns of ICBMs appeared in the square resounded with the enthusiastic cheers of the people full of pride and self-confidence, demonstrating the signal development of the military capability and tremendous nuclear strike capability of the DPRK.

Nuke for nuke and an all-out-confrontation for an all-out-confrontation!

The square was full of the high spirit of the fighters of the strategic missile units prepared for fulfilling their strategic mission anytime, true to the order of the leader only. The giant entities of the DPRK strategic forces passed the square, demonstrating their dignity.

All the participants broke into stormy cheers of "Hurrah!",

looking up to Kim Jong Un, the peerless patriot and outstanding leader of our Party, state and people, who pioneered a shortcut to the development of the Korean-style defence with his extraordinary foresight, firm determination and outstanding leadership and demonstrated before the world the prestige and dignity of our state with the specially great event of perfecting the strongest strategic weapon in the world.

When the military parade of the KPA, heroic army with the invincible arms which any formidable enemy does not dare to provoke, was over, spectacular fireworks were displayed again over the nocturnal sky on the Day of Army Founding, with the highest tribute by all the service personnel and people to the great brilliant commander and their cheers of glory resounding through the sky and land.

Kim Jong Un warmly acknowledged the enthusiastic cheers of the audience.

The square was filled with the high revolutionary spirit and enthusiasm of the strongest army for reliably guaranteeing the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche, eternal security of the country and the overall prosperity and development of socialist construction and for surely realizing the people's dream and ideals with the inexhaustible might which worked world-startling, eye-opening military miracles and the absolute will of heroic Korea which knows no word impossibility, holding fast to the arms of justice and ever-victorious treasured sword sharpened by the Party Central Committee.

Enlarged Meeting of WPK Central Military Commission Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Guides Meeting

 

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The Fourth Enlarged Meeting of the Eighth Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place at the office building of the Central Committee of the WPK on February 6 amid the soaring militant spirit and fighting enthusiasm of the Korean People's Army (KPA) to firmly guarantee the dynamic advance of the Korean-style socialist cause with matchless military muscle.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the enlarged meeting.

Present there were vice-chairmen Ri Pyong Chol and Ri Yong Gil and members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

Attending it as observers were commanders of the KPA services, commanding officers of its corps and major units, commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence and other armed forces organs, leading officials in the field of national defence scientific research and cadres of the Department of the Munitions Industry and other relevant departments of the WPK Central Committee.

The enlarged meeting discussed in depth the major military and political tasks for 2023 and the long-term issues concerning the orientation for army building.

Studied and discussed there were a series of practical tasks for bringing about a great change in the military and political work, including the issue of taking a step for the machinery to fundamentally improve and strengthen the military affairs, the issue of constantly expanding and intensifying the operation and combat drills of the KPA to cope with the prevailing situation and more strictly perfecting the preparedness for war, and the issue of newly modifying some articles of the internal regulations of the army as required by the developing reality. Then, relevant decisions were adopted.

Press Statement of Spokesperson for DPRK Foreign Ministry Issued

 

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) issued the following press statement on Thursday:

The military and political situation in the Korean peninsula and the region has reached an extreme red-line due to the reckless military confrontational maneuvers and hostile acts of the U.S. and its vassal forces.

The U.S. is now working hard to "demonize" the DPRK, spreading again all sorts of rumors. Meanwhile, it, together with its vassal forces, is intensifying the full- scale offensive for putting pressure on the DPRK in all aspects including "human rights", sanctions and military affairs.

In particular, the U.S. is going to ignite an all-out showdown with the DPRK through continued combined drills whose scale and scope are largely extended, including a "drill for operating extended deterrence means" and the largest-ever field mobile live shell firing drill simulating the use of nuclear weapons, together with south Korea from February.

During his visit to south Korea on Jan. 31, the U.S. secretary of Defense openly declared that the U.S. would deploy more strategic assets such as the fifth generation stealth fighters and nuclear carriers, unhesitatingly talking about the use of nuclear weapons against the DPRK. This is a vivid expression of the U.S. dangerous scenario which will result in turning the Korean peninsula into a huge war magazine and a more critical war zone.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK makes clear once again our principled stand on the U.S. in order to cope with its evermore pronounced, heinous anti-DPRK policy and dangerous military move.

First, the DPRK will take the toughest reaction to any military attempt of the U.S., on the principle of "nuke for nuke and an all-out confrontation for an all-out confrontation!"

We do not react to every ill-boding movement shown by the U.S. under the signboard of "offer of extended deterrence" and "strengthened alliance", but this is by no means that we ignore or take no note of.

We are seeing through the true intention of the U.S.

The DPRK has a clear counteraction strategy capable of coping with any short- and long-term scenarios attempted by the U.S. and its vassal forces, and will strongly control the present and future potential challenges with the most overwhelming nuclear force.

If the U.S. continues to introduce strategic assets into the Korean peninsula and its surrounding area, the DPRK will make clearer its relevant deterring activities without fail according to their nature.

Second, the DPRK is not interested in any contact or dialogue with the U.S. as long as the latter persists in its hostile policy and confrontational line.

The U.S. goes so shameless as to seek to gain time by touting dialogue with the DPRK under a deceptive signboard that it has no intent to be hostile toward the DPRK, while pursuing the most heinous hostile policy towards the DPRK.

The escalating tension in the Korean peninsula and the region is entirely attributable to the hostile policy of the U.S. forcing the DPRK to disarm itself unilaterally through sanctions and military pressure and pursuing the military expansion of its allies.

The decades-long history of DPRK-U.S. confrontation shows that the DPRK should deal with the U.S. imperialists by force only as they are dreaming of disarming it and bringing down its social system with the "end" of the DPRK set as a goal of their state administration.

The more dangerous the U.S. threat to the DPRK gets, the stronger backfire the

U.S. will face in direct proportion to it.

The DPRK will defend peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the region in a responsible manner with powerful deterrent until the U.S. and its vassal forces' hostile policy and military threat have been definitely rooted out.

Press Statement by Director General of Department of U.S. Affairs of DPRK Foreign Ministry

 

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the Department of U.S. Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK issued the following press statement on Sunday:

As regards the press statement of Kim Yo Jong, vice-department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea which denounced the U.S. decision on supplying MBTs to Ukraine, a spokesperson for the National Security Council of the White House on Jan. 27 said that the U.S. would continue to provide Ukraine with that it needs to defend itself from Russia's "brutal war of choice" against Ukraine.

It is an absurd and sheer sophism as it is an extension of the illogical, deformed and gangster-like way of thinking of the U.S., which frequently introduces nuclear strike means into the Korean peninsula under the pretext of providing "extended deterrence" against "provocation" of someone.

Had the U.S. not infringed upon the just security interests of Russia and accelerated the eastward advance of NATO step by step, the present situation of Ukraine would not have been created.

The U.S. is working hard to supply such offensive weapons as MBTs to Ukraine at any cost in disregard of the just concern and criticism of the international community. This is an unethical crime aimed at keeping the international situation unstable.

The U.S. again talked about the groundless rumor of "arms dealing between the DPRK and Russia", in a foolish attempt to justify its offer of weapons to Ukraine.

It is an illegal act to call into question the legitimate right to national defence of a sovereign state. Moreover, trying to tarnish the image of the DPRK by fabricating a non-existent thing is a grave provocation that can never be allowed and that cannot but trigger its reaction.

We clearly warn the U.S. once again on this occasion.

The U.S. should be mindful that it will face a really undesirable result if it persists in spreading the self-made rumor against the DPRK.

Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice-department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following press statement on Friday:

The U.S., which has exposed the whole continent of Europe to the grave danger of war and caused big and small concerns, is now further crossing the red line.

It has made a "special contribution" to instigating the unstable world crisis to be continued by providing Ukraine with a large amount of military hardware. It recently made public that it would supply its MBT to Ukraine, only to make clearer its confrontation stand against Russia.

Lurking behind this is the U.S. sinister intention to realize its hegemonic aim by further expanding the proxy war for destroying Russia.

The world would be brighter, safer and calmer now, if it were not for the U.S.

The U.S. is the arch criminal which poses serious threat and challenge to the strategic security of Russia and pushes the regional situation to the present grave phase.

I express serious concern over the U.S. escalating the war situation by providing Ukraine with military hardware for ground offensive, and strongly denounce it.

The U.S. and other Western countries are wrecking the global peace and the regional security while handing military hardware running into astronomical sum of money over to Ukraine in total disregard of Russia's concern about security. Therefore, they have neither right nor justification to slander sovereign states' exercise of the right to self-defense.

The U.S. is mulling mobilizing the military potentials of its top-class stooges on the anti-Russian front, to say nothing of those of the Western countries.

The Ukrainian battlefield is by no means a desert in the Middle East where the U.S. MBTs went on the rampage 20 years ago.

I do not doubt that any military hardware the U.S. and the West boast of will be burnt into pieces in the face of the indomitable fighting spirit and might of the heroic Russian army and people.

No matter how desperately the imperialist allied forces may try, they will never weaken the heroic stamina of the Russian army and people with high patriotism, stubbornness and strong mental power.

We will always stand in the same trench with the service personnel and people of Russia who have turned out in the struggle to defend the dignity and honor of the state and the sovereignty and security of the country.

NATO Secretary General's Trip Instigates Creation of Asian Version of NATO

 

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Tong Myong, a researcher of the Society for International Politics Study in the DPRK, released an article titled "Is the trip of the secretary general of NATO aimed to instigate the creation of the Asian version of NATO?" on Jan. 29, which said:

It was reported that the secretary general of NATO embarked upon his trip to south Korea and Japan.

The high-ranking chief of the military organization which turned Ukraine into a theatre of proxy war is flying into the Asia-Pacific region of the eastern hemisphere across the sea and land, which is not even part of its operational sphere. This fact itself gives rise to concern.

It is well known that NATO has long made persistent attempts to expand its sphere of influence limited to European defense to the Asia-Pacific region, which rose to be the strategic center of the world.

NATO stages bilateral and multilateral joint military exercises under various titles by introducing armed forces of its member states including aircraft carriers and fighters under the pretext of opposing the so-called "change of status quo by force". It is also mulling extending its influence to the Asia-Pacific region in the way of expanding and strengthening cooperation with such exclusive security allies as AUKUS, Quad and Five Eyes.

In particular, NATO has put unprecedented spurs to the strengthening of bilateral relations with south Korea and Japan in recent years, regarding them as a key link in realizing its ambition for hegemony.

This is proved by the fact that the chairman of the military committee of NATO visited south Korea and Japan respectively in April and June last year to discuss closer partnership and military cooperation and, at the end of June, south Korea and Japan participated in the NATO summit in Madrid of Spain for the first time ever.

Meanwhile, in May last year the Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence under NATO registered south Korea as its full member and in October a delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was dispatched to south Korea to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

South Korea signed a huge sales contract for arms including heavy tanks, self- propelled guns and fighters valued at tens of billions of U.S. dollars with Poland, a member state of NATO, and Japan agreed to jointly develop the next generation fighters with Britain and Italy. This clearly proves to what extent the NATO's sinister intention to use south Korea and Japan for expanding its influence has reached.

NATO, which specified Russia as the "greatest and direct threat" and China as a "systematic challenge" in its new "strategic concept" last year, is now openly stretching its long arm to south Korea and Japan. Its aim is quite clear.

It is the general orientation sought by the U.S.-led NATO to cook up Asian version NATO serving the maintenance of its hegemonic position and order in collusion with its vassal forces.

It is quite natural that over the recent worrying moves of NATO, countries in the region have warned that NATO seeks to apply the method of collective confrontation in Asia-Pacific, which had already been used in Europe, and south Korea and Japan should not introduce NATO forces into the Asia-Pacific region.

It is as clear as noonday that the secretary general of NATO flying to south Korea and Japan, at the time when the Ukrainian crisis has entered a new critical stage with the U.S. and Western decision on supplying tanks, will shore up the "theory of threat from China" to emphasize again the need to build Asian version of NATO and put pressure on them for their passive military support to Ukraine.

It is a matter of time that the military hardware of south Korea and Japan flowing into NATO are seen in the Ukrainian battlefield.

South Korea and Japan trying to attend to their own business by inviting unbidden guests to the region should be well aware that they are getting closer to the extreme security crisis, far from defusing security uneasiness.

It will be nothing good if NATO, a synonym for war and confrontation, puts its military boots on the region.

The trip of the NATO secretary general to south Korea and Japan is a prelude to confrontation and war as it brings the dark clouds of a "new Cold War" to the Asia- Pacific region.

Regional countries and the international community should remain highly vigilant against the frequent footsteps of NATO toward Asia-Pacific.

 

What Will Japan-France Summit Bring to Asia-Pacific Region

 

Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Tong Myong, a researcher of the Society for International Politics Study in the DPRK, released an article titled "What will Japan-France summit bring to the Asia-Pacific region" on Jan.12, which said:

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida on January 9 arrived in France as the first schedule of his visit to the G7 member states and held a summit with President Macron.

At the summit, Kishida explained the purport and purpose of the new national security strategy set forth in December last year under the pretext of "threats" from neighboring countries, reckoning France as an "important partner necessary for building the free and open Indo-Pacific".

He asserted that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region is in "inseparable relationship" and, therefore, substantial cooperation with France, including joint military exercises, should be continuously promoted.

This clearly proved the aim of Kishida's visit which is to win support from the member states for Japan's new national security strategy with preemptive attack and arms buildup as its gist.

The new national security strategy Japan peddles in the member states of G7 is a confrontational scenario as it turned the previous policy of "exclusive defense" into a policy of preemptive attack and war in its contents and character.

It is the international community's comment that Japan has completely cast away its veil of a "pacifist state" by deciding to possess the "capability of counterattacking enemy's base".

As the concern and repugnancy of neighboring countries over its new national security strategy have grown day by day, Japan set out on a solicitation trip to secure the support of countries sharing "common values".

What matters is that some Western countries are actively joining Japan in its moves to become a military giant, bringing the dark clouds of instability to the Asia-Pacific region.

There is a greater danger in the fact that all countries visited by Kishida are NATO member states.

In June last year, the U.S., Britain, France and other major NATO member states at a summit gave a warning to "China's systematic challenge to the region linked with the security of the alliance" and adopted a new "strategic concept" whose main point is to contain China.

It is well known to the world that NATO has made public its plan to deploy more warships in the Asia-Pacific region and take more active part in the joint military drills with its allies, escalating the regional tension.

In case of France alone, it dispatched a French air detachment to the Pacific region, under the pretext of demonstrating air force capability ranging from its mainland to the South Pacific, to join the U.S.-led joint air drill in September last year.

It is the sinister intention of NATO stretching its tentacles to the Asia-Pacific region to put pressure on China in an all-round way by justifying its advance into the Asia- Pacific region under various pretexts and steadily expanding its influence over the region.

This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the Japan-France summit called for "unilateral change of status quo" in the East and South seas of China, talking about the Taiwan issue that belongs to China's internal affairs.

Japan plays the role of a guide introducing NATO, a legacy of the Cold War, into the Asia-Pacific region, while NATO tries to set its foot in the region. Such behaviors are sowing the seeds of discord deep in the Asia-Pacific region where the interests are complicatedly intertwined over the historical and territorial issues and so on.

They must be making a wrong choice.

Asia-Pacific is not what was in the past, and regional countries are strictly watching the recent worrying moves of Japan and outside forces.

Kishida's foreign tour will only bring security instability to the Asia-Pacific region.
