U.S., S. Korean Puppet Forces to Be Held Accountable for All Ensuing Catastrophic Consequences: CPRK Spokesman

    Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) issued the following statement on Monday:
    The U.S. and south Korean puppet warmongers finally kicked off Key Resolve joint war maneuvers, the provocative saber-rattling for invading the DPRK, despite its repeated warnings and strong denunciation at home and abroad.
    The madcap joint war maneuvers under way in the sky, ground and seas of south Korea in parallel with Foal Eagle joint war exercises which started on March 1 are participated in by U.S. imperialist aggressor forces, south Korean puppet troops, armed forces of satellite countries including the UK and Australia, U.S. nuclear carrier group, B-52 strategic bombers, F-22 Stealth fighters, Aegis destroyers and other ground, air and naval strike means equipped with nukes and live shells.
    Timed to coincide with the large-scale north-targeted war exercises, the puppet authorities and military gangsters are openly letting loose a spate of provocative outbursts calling for "striking commanding forces and strongholds" and "bringing down the north's regime".
    Such three-dimensional joint war exercises are the most dangerous drills for a nuclear war and most undisguised provocations unprecedented in their nature, scale and the program of their drills.
    The U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces are, however, describing the war maneuvers as "annual defensive ones" to cope with the "north's provocation" and "threat".
    Do they have any reason for raising a hue and cry over someone's "threat" and "provocation" while posing a real threat and committing provocations?
    It is the height of shamelessness for the U.S. and its stooges, military gangsters to paint the war exercises for aggression as "annual defensive ones" while staging them after keeping huge nuclear war hardware close to the DPRK's gate for decades.
    How can the largest-ever nuclear war maneuvers aimed to mount a preemptive strike at the headquarters of the other party and its strategic bases and "bring down the regime" be "defensive ones"?
    The Key Resolve joint military exercises for aggression are a clear declaration of war against the DPRK.
    We had already clarified that the Korean Armistice Agreement would be completely ified, all agreements on the north-south non-aggression be totally scrapped and second and third strong practical countermeasures be taken in succession from March 11 when the nuclear war maneuvers of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces to invade the DPRK enter a full-dress stage.
    They have challenged the DPRK's ultimatum with their reckless saber-rattling, totally abrogating the AA and agreements on non-aggression, the minimum mechanisms for deterring a war. The complete collapse of this mechanism for averting a war has caused the situation on the peninsula to lead to the outbreak of a war, unhindered. This grave situation clearly proves that the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces have escalated the tension on the peninsula, deliberately taking issue with the DPRK's legitimate satellite launch for peaceful purposes and its nuclear test, a just measure for self-defence, for the purpose of provoking a war of aggression against the DPRK. It, at the same time, clearly indicates that the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces are chieftains of a war and arch disturbers of peace on the peninsula.
    The DPRK's option has become clearer as they kicked off the above-said drills for aggression against it.
    It is the invariable stand and will of the army and people of the DPRK to counter enemies coming in attack with a dagger with a sword, a rifle with an artillery piece and nukes with precision nuclear strike means of Korean style more powerful than them.
    The hearts of our service persons and people are burning with the will to annihilate the enemies and all of them are now seeking a way to give vent to their pent-up grudge against them.
    All service personnel and people of the DPRK and all its offensive means including sophisticated nuclear strike means are in place for a final offensive for national reunification as it had already declared.
    All strike means of the DPRK have already been put on alert and when they open fire, everything will turn into a sea in flames.
    The service personnel and people of the DPRK have turned out as one in an all-out action. If the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet forces dare fire even a shell on the inviolable territory, seas and air of the DPRK, its army and people will not miss the golden chance but blow up the strongholds of invasion through merciless strikes and achieve the national reunification, the long-cherished desire of the nation.
    Intolerable is the lawless society under the reign of the U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices.
    The DPRK will sternly punish all unjust provocateurs and aggressors with arms for justice.
    The U.S. and south Korean puppet forces are wholly to blame for all the ensuing catastrophic consequences from this moment. 

CPRK Spokesman Slams S. Korean Military for Making Rhetoric Hurting Social System and Dignity of DPRK

    Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA Saturday as regards the hideous provocation committed by the south Korean puppet military hooligans hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK:
    The situation on the Korean Peninsula is inching close to the brink of a war due to the fabrication of the UN Security Council's "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK at the instigation of such hostile forces as the U.S. and its allies, and the DPRK-targeted nuclear war rehearsals being conducted by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces.
    The army and people of the DPRK are hardening their will to resolutely foil the anti-DPRK acts on the part of the hostile forces including the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group and their moves for provoking a nuclear war, and annihilate them and safeguard the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and the supreme interests of the country.
    Under such situation, the puppet military group of south Korea went reckless calling for "striking commanding forces" on March 6. Two days later it let a spokesman for the puppet Defence Ministry make rhetoric over the toughest counter-measures taken by the DPRK for self-defence. He even made such outbursts as "elimination of the north's regime from the earth" and "resolute punishment" in reference to the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK.
    Kim Pyong Gwan, puppet Defense Minister hopeful, also openly blustered at a "parliamentary confirmation hearing" that the south would react to the DPRK's crucial measures with "north's regime change or toppling of the regime".
    This is a hideous provocation against the dignity of the supreme leadership, social system and the army and people of the DPRK and an open declaration of a war signifying that the puppet group would not rule out a war.
    The puppet group is making bluffing, not judging what catastrophic consequences its senseless rhetoric will entail, taken aback by the strong spirit of the army and people of the DPRK to annihilate the enemies.
    The situation clearly proves who is an arch criminal making provocation and escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula.
    The DPRK already made it clear that it will never pardon those who provoke the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK, its life and soul, even a bit and make strong reaction to them, considering the provocation as a declaration of war against the DPRK.
    Kim Pyong Gwan and other military hooligans of south Korea who made free roll of tongues should know that they can not live under the sky for their recent vituperation only.
    There are many precedents in history that a word led to a war.
    The fuse of a war is burning faster now due to the rhetoric made by Kim Pyong Gwan and other hooligans.
    The south Korean group of traitors seems to count on the U.S. but it should clearly know that its master will not be able to protect the stooge.
    The tragic ends of the successive pro-U.S. stooges and the miserable fate of the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors who becomes almost dead for its act of hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK clearly prove this.
    Those who provoke the social system and dignity of the DPRK can not evade merciless punishment.
    The puppet warmongers should immediately apologize for their recent outbursts. They should also clearly know that they will become the first target in the great war for national reunification, should they continue to come out in a provocative way. 

Kim Jong Un Guides Live Shell Firing Drill of Artillery Sub-Units

    Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, guided a live shell firing drill to examine the real war fighting capabilities of artillery sub-units in the hotspots whose mission is to strike Taeyonphyong and Paekryong Islands.
    He received a report on the live shell firing program and the deployment of artillery sub-units before issuing an order for live shell firing.
    Shells intensively hit the imaginary targets of the enemy while the roar of the artillery pieces rocked heaven and earth.
    Whenever artillerymen hit the targets, he was greatly satisfied to watch them.
    Watching through field glasses the artillery pieces of the islet defence detachments deployed in the biggest hotspots in the southwestern sector of the front hitting the targets in succession, he said the Jangjae Islet Defence Detachment and the Mu Islet Hero Defence Detachment are the best and the hero artillery pieces of the Mu Islet Defence Detachment are matchless, indeed.
    The artillerymen of the Jangjae Islet Defence Detachment and the Mu Islet Hero Defend Detachment got the highest appraisal from the Supreme Commander for their success in the drill.
    The artillerymen could hit the targets as they have undergone highly intense trainings while thinking of the day to fight, he said.
    He recalled that he specified the order of precision strike and density of fire on targets while inspecting forefront posts in the southwestern sector and western sector of the front, adding that through the live shell firing drill the artillerymen of the Fourth Army Corps proved themselves that they are ready to throw the enemies on Taeyonphyong and Paekryong Islands into flames.
    As I always stressed, a modern war is an artillery war and preparations for an artillery battle mean the preparations of the KPA and they are an important factor of deciding a victory in the great war for national reunification, he said, setting forth tasks arising in further bolstering up the artillery.
    He invited to Pyongyang the artillerymen of the Jangjae Islet Defence Detachment and the Mu Islet Hero Defence Detachment who were highly praised for their successes in the live shell firing drill and had a picture taken with them.
    He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, Hyon Yong Chol, Kim Kyok Sik, Pak To Chun, Ri Yong Gil, Son Chol Ju, Kim Yong Chol, Pak Jong Chon, Rim Kwang Il, Ri Song Guk, Ri Yong Rae, Kim Myong Nam and An Ji Yong. 

S. Korean Warmongers Will Meet Stern Punishment: Spokesman

    Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces of the DPRK National Defence Commission issued the following statement Wednesday:
    The Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army on March 5 stated to the world the resolute determination of the army and people of the DPRK in the face of the anti-DPRK hostile acts that have become all the more undisguised on the part of the U.S. and other hostile forces.
    The south Korean military warmongers have not yet come to their senses and are still going reckless.
    On March 6, the puppet Joint Chiefs of Staff let the chief of its operation headquarters call for "punishing" even "commanding forces", to say nothing of "bases" and "reinforcements" by mobilizing military means if the DPRK commences actions.
    On March 8, the puppet Ministry of Defense also got its spokesman to dare hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the north and bluster that "it would remove the north's regime from the earth in reflection of the will of mankind" if the nuclear-armed north launches an all-out action.
    Defense Minister nominee Kim Pyong Gwan, who will replace military hooligan Kim Kwan Jin, also said that they will counter the north's all-out action with "regime change or toppling of its regime including psychological warfare".
    This frenzy kicked up by the south Korean warmongers is no way irrelevant with the swish of skirt made by the owner of Chongwadae.
    Ill-boding voices are being heard from the inner room of Chongwadae. They call for maintaining a high alert posture for "security", saying that "a country can not be protected only with weapons" and "a country concentrating on beefing up military muscle only including nuclear weapons will bring about its own destruction."
    Matter is that all these developments are timed to coincide with the U.S.-south Korea Key Resolve and Foal Eagle nuclear war rehearsals that have got into full swing.
    The DPRK cannot interpret those moves otherwise than a repetition of the long bankrupt confrontation stance of the Lee Myung Bak regime and an expression of utter ignorance of the precious asset of the nation.
    An army of the nation and people possessed of nuclear weapons can always win a victory in the struggle against formidable enemies and reliably guarantee the grandeur and security of the country.
    This is a stark reality unfolded by the world where the law of the jungle governs and a bitter lesson drawn by the DPRK in the decades-long arduous confrontation with the U.S.
    They, however, cried out for "abandoning nuclear weapons", the asset of which the nation can be proud before the world, and "giving up Songun" aimed at preserving peace on this land from outside forces' aggression and war moves in disregard of this stark reality. These are little short of jargons made by the idiots who lack any ability to judge the reality.
    The DPRK launched an all-out action to foil the war moves of the robbers attacking in groups in order to violate the sovereignty of the nation, but the south Korean trigger-happy forces painted it as "provocation". Not content with this, they are working hard to deprive the DPRK of its nukes built to defend the country and the nation. This amounts to a thrice-cursed act of treachery.
    The people and servicepersons of south Korea must turn their rifles on the warmongers in response to the just all-out action of the DPRK, well aware that the sovereignty of the country and the destiny of the nation can never be left to such traitors to the nation.
    What they are doing is an anachronistic act of treachery as they are blindly following the brigandish assertion of their U.S. master keen to put the whole country and the nation under its control, unable to discern what is justice, what is injustice and what is hypocrisy.
    Whatever the U.S. and other big powers decide, resorting to high-handed and arbitrary practices, can by no means be justice.
    Whatever resolutions the UN Security Council adopts cannot be truth as it is a mere voting machine bereft of impartiality and equity.
    Injustice and lies can never become justice and truth and their hypocrisy is bound to be revealed in face of the times and history.
    The DPRK army and people's unyielding struggle to protect the sovereignty of the nation and the right to existence and defend its supreme interests is the just one as proved by history and the truth indicated by the times.
    They have had access to precision nuclear deterrence that has become diversified, tightening their belts, and chosen the arduous road of Songun out of many other alternatives. It is because herein lie justice and truth.
    The south Korean military warmongers can not understand the reality because they are traitors engrossed in sycophancy toward the U.S.
    A man who takes to flunkeyism is bound to become an idiot and a nation that turns to flunkeyism is bound to ruin.
    This is the law proven by long human history.
    The DPRK's army and people will not remain an onlooker to the south Korean warmongers' disgraceful act of transferring the wartime operation control, life and soul of the army, to the U.S. and offering the soldiers as canon fodder to their master.
    That's why the DPRK chose the U.S. and the south Korean military warmongers following it as the major target of the all-out action for defending the sovereignty and the first target of merciless strike.
    The warmongers would be well advised to keep in mind that the Armistice Agreement is no longer valid and the DPRK is not restrained by the north-south declaration on non-aggression.
    What is left to be done now is an action of justice and merciless retaliation of the army and people of the DPRK.
    The south Korean puppet forces should come to their senses. 

Mankind’s Cause of Independence and President KIM IL SUNG

April 15 is the birthday of President KIM IL SUNG (1912-1994). He is not only the eternal President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, but also the great pioneer of the cause of global independence, enjoying boundless respect of the Korean people and the progressive people all over the world.

KIM IL SUNG provided the cause of independence with the guiding principle towards its successful accomplishment based on the Juche idea and Songun idea.

The Juche idea is the doctrine that represents the fundamental demand of man as a social being to live and develop in an independent way as the master of the world and his own destiny and gives light to the correct way for its realization of independence of the country and nation and the popular masses, and firmly ensures it by means of powerful arms.

By relying on the Juche idea and Songun idea, the President put forward the original ideology and theory on the world revolution. He developed the world revolution from the struggle for class liberation of the international working class to the one for defending and realizing the independence of the oppressed and exploited people of the world, and gave correct answers to all theoretical and practical problems arising in the struggle for realization of the cause of global independence, such as the national liberation struggle in the colonial countries, the socialist movement, anti-imperialist and anti-US struggle and the movement for reconstruction of socialism. He newly delineated and systematized the theory on the world revolution centering on the independence of the people – the nature and strategic goal of the world revolution, the common task of struggle of the revolution and its subject and object, min strategy, and the principle of forming the revolutionary forces of the world – which are the unchanging guiding principle for implementation of the cause of independence of mankind.

KIM IL SUNG set a practical example in the national liberation struggle in the colonial countries and gave full support to the oppressed people of the world in their struggle for national liberation.

He set out on the road of revolution in his early teens, and organized and led the 20-year –long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle (1926-1945) to liberate Korea. After national liberation he beat off the US imperialists, the ringleader of imperialism, to firmly defend the national dignity and sovereignty. It was a historic event that substantiated the truth that the peoples of the colonial countries can win the imperialists and rescue the destiny of the nation and realize the independence of the popular masses when they wage the armed struggle, believing in and relying on their own strength.

During the days of the anti-Japanese armed struggle for national liberation, he rendered active support to the revolution in China and defended the former Soviet Union with arms. Even after the liberation of Korea, he wisely led the struggle of the people of many countries for national and class liberation.

His support and encouragement to the Algerian people is an example. The Algerians held up the torch of armed struggle for national liberation in Africa which was called the “continent of darkness” and the “colonial continent” in the past. Encouraged by the Korean people’s victory in the Korean War (1950-1953), the Algerian patriots formed the National Liberation Front in August 1954 and engaged in the armed struggle. The President saw to it that great material assistance including provisions was given to them and that the “Day of Algeria” and the “Week of Algeria” be designed in token of solidarity with the Algerian people. When the provisional government of the Republic of Algeria was founded in September 1958, the DPRK was the first to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with it. He also gave active and disinterested support and encouragement to the struggles of the people of Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia and other countries against colonialism and racism. President KIM IL SUNG energetically led the socialist movement of the world, holding high the banner of socialism.

He built Korea into a socialist power of independence, self-reliance and self-defense, and put great efforts in strengthening the international solidarity with the socialist countries and achieving the unity in the international socialist movement.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis from October to November in 1962, he made sure that the full support was expressed to the Cuban people, who were fight bravely against the US maneuvers of stifling and that the DPRK embassy staff in Havana and the Korean students studying in Cuba made every preparation for combat and share the destiny with the Cuban people. He even visited North Vietnam to greatly encourage the Vietnamese people and give selfless material and moral aid to them in the grim days when the US cooked up the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” in August 1964 to lead to Vietnamese war. These are only a few examples of his achievements in the cause of independence of mankind.

Thanks to his energetic activity, the Pyongyang Declaration, “Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism”, was adopted on April 20, 1992, signed by heads and delegates of 70 parties of the world, which was an event of historic significance in the strengthening the unity and solidarity between the parties aspiring for socialism and reconstructing the cause of socialism. At present the number of parties that have put their signatures to the declaration has increased to over 270.

During the period of over two years from the adoption of the declaration till the last time of his life he met heads and delegates of more than 120 parties and organizations, and devoted his heart soul to defending and rebuilding socialism and bringing about new upsurge in the socialist movement.

President KIM IL SUNG, who achieving undying exploits in mankind’s cause of independence, will be remembered for ever with the advancing cause of independence.

August Name of Kim Il Sung

The name of President Kim Il Sung, founder of socialist Korea, literally means the sun in Korean. As the sun shines for ever, so does his august name.

The august name of President Kim Il Sung is symbolic of the national liberation struggle and the era of independence.

Early in his teenage years the President embarked on the road of revolutionary struggle to liberate Korea from the military occupation of Japanese imperialists (1905-1945).

He authored the Juche idea and the Songun idea to illumine the way ahead of the revolutionaries and people of Korea.

By so doing he ushered in a new era of independence when the masses of the people became the masters of their own destiny for the first time in history and elucidated the truth of Songun that the victory of the revolutionary cause and independence, sovereignty and prosperity of a country and nation rest on the arms. The Korean revolutionaries and people called him Kim Il Sung in the sense that he was like the sun which illuminates the road to national resurrection and prosperity.

He liberated Korea after waging 15-year-long anti-Japanese armed struggle and established the people’s country. He defeated the United States that prided itself on being the world’s “strongest” in the Korean war (1950-1953), for the first time in history and safeguarded national sovereignty and dignity with credit. And he led to victory the post-war rehabilitation, socialist revolution and the several stages of socialist construction. Thus, he set a world’s example in the struggle for accomplishing the cause of independence of the masses.

He rendered unstinted assistance to China, Vietnam, Cuba and other countries in their struggle of national liberation and anti-imperialism.

Many African countries could achieve their national liberation and build a new society thanks to Kim Il Sung’s unselfish assistance. Sam Nujoma, first president of Namibia, credited the Korean President Kim Il Sung with the independence of his country.

There have been formed at a national, continental and international level a large number of organizations for the study and dissemination of the Juche idea originated by the President and acknowledged as a guiding ideology of the cause of independence of mankind.

The non-aligned movement could be constantly strengthened and developed into a powerful anti-imperialist, independent force by virtue of his deep concern and energetic activities and add great spurs to the struggles for putting an end to domination and subordination and gaining independence of the country and nation and the masses of the people worldwide.

It has become an irresistible trend of the times and aspiration of the mankind to advance along the road of independence indicated by the Juche idea.

The august name of Kim Il Sung is symbolic of lofty virtue and ennobling sense of obligation.

His Juche idea and Songun idea are likened to the light of the sun that illumines the way to be followed by mankind, while his virtue and moral obligation are to the heat of the sun that gives life to all organisms.

The President was a genuine friend and a great benefactor of the peoples of developing countries. He spared nothing in supporting them undergoing difficulties in the building of a new society. He sent a number of experts and technicians to African and other countries to help them sincerely in their efforts to build party, state and armed forces and to develop industry, agriculture, education, healthcare, sports and other sectors.

Stressing the need to develop agriculture in order to solve the food problem, he ensured that they adopted farming methods suited to their specific conditions and helped their irrigation projects.

He made the DPRK host a symposium of the non-aligned and other developing countries on increasing food and agricultural production in Pyongyang and proposed to establish institutes of agricultural science with a view to improving agriculture in African countries.

Kim Il Sung Research Institute of Agricultural Science was established in Guinea of western Africa and Chollima Agricultural Institute in Tanzania of eastern Africa by help of the Korean agro-technicians, which made a contribution to the agricultural development in Africa.

President Kim Il Sung treated those fighting against imperialism and for independence as his genuine comrades and friends and set a fine example of noble sense of moral obligation of keeping faith with them to the last. There are many anecdotes about his obligation to the friends, including the Great King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia and the former Chilean President Salvador Allende.

All the people who met him even once could not but feel great admiration and reverence for his lofty virtues and ennobling personality, even if they were from the countries hostile to Korea.

Among such people were Jimmy Carter, former US president, and Shin Kanemaru, former deputy prime minister of Japan.

Kim Il Sung’s name is shining as the banner of eternal victory.

Entering the new century, the aspirations of the world people to live and develop independently are getting ever stronger.

As the time passes, it proves clearer the truthfulness and invincibility of the Juche idea.

Seminars on the Juche idea and the activities for its dissemination are proceeding on a worldwide scale.

The world conference on the Juche idea is to be held this April in Pyongyang.

The International Kim Il Sung Prize Council was organized in April 1993 and the International Kim Il Sung Foundation established in 2007.

The present situation, when high-handedness, despotic and aggressive moves of the imperialists get ever more unscrupulous after the end of the Cold War, demands that the countries actively advocate the Songun idea and Songun politics rooted in the Juche idea.

Progressive peoples of the world regard Songun politics as an invincible banner that makes it possible to safeguard national sovereignty under any challenge and adversity and accomplish the cause of anti-imperialism and independence.

Nearly 500 streets, institutions and organizations in over 100 countries are named after the august name of Kim Il Sung.

Kim Il Sung and the Banner of Independence

President Kim Il Sung, upholding the banner of independence, rendered immortal services to the times and history.

Having embarked on the road of struggle for the country and people in his early teens, he authored the Juche idea, the gist of which is that the masses of the people are the masters and the driving force of the revolution and construction; in other words, it means that man is the master of his own destiny and has the strength with which to carve out his destiny.

Since then the Korean revolution has vigorously advanced along the road of independence.

In the period of the armed struggle to liberate Korea from the Japanese military occupation, he ensured that the guerrillas kept the strong conviction that they should fight the Japanese by making themselves weapons and grenades instead of looking forward to aids from others.

The guerrillas waged the arduous armed struggle for over 15 years, holding high the slogan of winning back the country by themselves, and achieved the country’s liberation.

After liberation he made sure that Korea took the road of Korean-style democracy, not adopting other countries’ styles, and vigorously led the struggle to reunify the country divided by foreign forces.

In the grim days of the Korean war (1950-1953) to repel the aggression of the United States he ensured that the service personnel of the Korean People’s Army employed unique tactical methods such as building tunnels and bringing direct-firing guns up to the heights, thus winning victory in the war.

After the war he put forward a unique line of economic construction to give priority to the development of heavy industry and simultaneously develop light industry and agriculture, and led his people to get rid of flunkeyism and dogmatism and take the road of independence.

When other socialist countries persistently forced Korea to join the CMEA, insisting on the “integrated economy” within them, he never vacillated in the slightest nor deviated an iota from the line of building the independent national economy.

In the mid-1980s the trend of “reform” and “openness” was sweeping the socialist countries, but he firmly maintained the independent stand and held up higher the red flag, thus defending the socialist system of Korea reliably even though others abandoned socialism.

Kim Il Sung paid great attention to realize the cause of making the world independent throughout his life.

He gave clear answers to the matters of principle arising in realizing the cause of global independence such as those on maintaining independence in the struggle for peace and fighting against the imperialist forces of aggression with the united efforts of all the peace-loving forces of the world, and on struggling while uniting and vice versa. When Francois Mitterrand, head of the French Socialist Party, visited Korea in February 1981, Kim Il Sung said to him that in order to prevent a new world war, the European countries should not be aligned with any blocs but make themselves independent and neutral, and that they should help the newly-emerging countries to firmly maintain their independence and build theirs into independent, sovereign states.

When he met Utsunomiya Tokuma, Japanese politician, he told him that the global peace would be surely maintained only when all the countries of the world, including European and Asian countries as well as Japan became independent and that it was his ideal for peace.

Kim Il Sung assisted heart and soul other countries in accomplishing their cause of anti-imperialist independence.

Already in the period of anti-Japanese armed struggle for Korea’s liberation he actively assisted the Chinese revolution and defended the former Soviet Union with arms. After liberation he also gave unstinted assistance to the countries and nations in their struggle against imperialism.

The support and assistance given by him to the Algerian people who launched an armed struggle for the national liberation in Africa, known as the Dark Continent and the continent of colonies, wrote a brilliant page in the world history of national liberation struggle.

When the Algerian patriots, encouraged by the victory of the Korean people in the Korean war, waged an armed struggle after forming the National Liberation Front in August 1954, he sent them food and other materials and set the day and the week of Algeria so as to express solidarity with them in their struggle.

When the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic was established in September 1958, he saw that the DPRK was the first country to acknowledge it and establish diplomatic relations with it.

He also gave energetic and disinterested support and aid to the peoples of Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in their struggle against colonialism and racism, the Latin American peoples’ struggle against the US imperialists and pro-US dictatorship, Arabians’ struggle against the US imperialists and Israeli Zionists, as well as the Cuban, Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian peoples’ struggle against the aggression of the US imperialists, thus greatly inspiring them to bring about historic victories.

The banner of independence upheld by President Kim Il Sung is a great power of strength and encouragement to the Korean people who are achieving eye-opening successes in the socialist construction with a firm stand of independence and also to the progressive peoples of the world who are struggling for the realization of global independence.

Thunder from Korea

Thunder of a new nuclear test cracked in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

In December last year the DPRK launched its first applications satellite for peaceful purposes according to the scientific and technological development programmes intended to promote its national economic construction and the people’s livelihoods.

Space agencies of the Unites States and Russia officially recognized that the DPRK’s satellite had achieved its orbit.

However, the United States blamed the peaceful satellite launch of the DPRK as a violation of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, and went further to manipulate the UNSC into adopting a new resolution on sanctions against the country.

The infringement upon the right to satellite launch is just a violation of a country’s sovereignty. The DPRK, flatly rejecting that unlawful resolution, solemnly declared that it would take countermeasures to cope with the situation and safeguard its sovereignty and dignity. This is the reason why it conducted the third nuclear test.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry stated that it had neither a need not a plan to conduct a nuclear test originally, for its nuclear deterrent has already reliable capabilities that can annihilate the citadel of aggression at one go with a precision strike wherever it is located on the earth.

This self-reliant nuclear deterrent was the foundation based on which its leadership would concentrate its efforts on the economic construction and the improvement of the people’s standard of living.

But the US is now intensifying the hostile acts against the DPRK, encroaching upon the latter’s right to satellite launch and taking the lead in implementing the UNSC’s sanction resolution. Under such situation, the DPRK was compelled to change its original plans.

The nuclear test it conducted this time represented its towering resentment at the hostile acts of the US and demonstrated its thoroughgoing will and inexhaustible capability to safeguard its sovereignty to the end.

The US and its allies are making much fuss about the DPRK’s third nuclear test, which is a just measure based on international law.

It is the United States that has constantly threatened the DPRK with nuclear weapons for over half a century. Entering the 21^st century, it even officially designated the latter as one of the targets for nuclear preemptive strikes.

There is no other way than to counter nukes with nukes, and it was a legitimate self-defensive measure for the DPRK to prepare its nuclear deterrent to cope with the increasing nuclear threat of the US. It thus withdrew from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty through legal processes and built its self-reliant nuclear deterrent in order to defend the supreme interests of the nation.

The 60-odd-year history of the United Nations has so far witnessed over 2 000 nuclear tests and 9 000 satellite launches conducted on this planet, none of which was criticized severely by the UNSC resolutions.

There is another fact that should not be overlooked. It is the United States that outnumbered any country in conducting nuclear tests and launching satellites in the world, and other permanent members of the UNSC also take an absolute majority of them.

However, it is also none other than those permanent members of the UNSC, including the US, that cooked up such a resolution banning the DPRK’s nuclear test and satellite launch. It cannot be interpreted otherwise, but an application of double standards, nay, extreme of the brazen-facedness.

The international community began to perceive the United Nations Security Council from a different viewpoint. It realized that the “international justice and impartiality,” “global peace and security” and suchlike frequently clamoured by its permanent members were hypocritical acts to conceal their real intentions and true colours. Once their veils of hypocrisy are dropped, it has laid bare the disgraceful entity of the UNSC that its member nations would run wild in pursuit of their own interests and bargain with each other in settling the issues directly related to the destiny of other nations around the world.

If the UNSC had given a little heed to the international justice and impartiality, its lifeline and the fundamental principles of its activities, it would not have denied the sovereign state’s legal right to exercise its self-defence and peaceful activities of science and technology. It is strange, on the contrary, that it has never called in question the US policy of nuclear preemptive strike which exposes the international peace and security to the gravest threat.

The UNSC fails to perform its mission invested by the international community, but covers the veil of “international legitimacy” over the high-handedness and arbitrariness of the arrogant imperialist power engaged in the acts of aggression on and intervention in internal affairs of other countries. It is arousing disapproval and lamentation among the world people with conscience and intelligence.

It is, therefore, not accidental that the international community appreciated the DPRK’s nuclear test as a thunder of justice inflicting a punishment on injustice.

The DPRK declared that it was the first countermeasure it had taken by displaying its self-control to the maximum. If the US should render the situation complicated by resorting to tenacious hostile acts against the DPRK, the latter will be compelled to take the second and third countermeasures of higher intensity. The latter will regard such acts as the search of its vessels and the naval blockade clamoured by the US and its followers as an act of war, and deal its merciless retaliatory blows at the formers’ citadels.

It means, in other words, continuous thunders from the DPRK.

 

Kim Jong Un Enjoys Performance Given by Art Squad of KPA Unit 531

    Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un together with service persons of the KPA enjoyed the performance given by the art squad of KPA Unit 531.
    Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as narration and chorus "Strength of Korea", agitation drama "Let Us Reap Richer Bean Harvest ", dramatic witticism "Let Us Glorify the Name of the People's Army", poem and story-telling "There Is South Sea before Us" and chorus "All Servicepersons and People Will Become Human Bullets and Bombs".
    Through the performance the artistes sang high praises of the unchangeable mode of the KPA counteraction to counter the enemies coming in attack with a dagger with a sword, a rifle with an artillery piece and nukes with precision nuclear strike means of Korean style more powerful than them.
    Watching the performance, the audience pledged themselves to deal deadly blows at the enemies and victoriously conclude the great war for national reunification once an order is issued by the Supreme Commander.
    He was greatly satisfied with the fact that the artistes of the art squad of KPA Unit 531 staged a splendid performance reflecting the noble ideological and moral traits and militant mettle of the KPA to always emerge victorious in confrontation with the enemies, thinking of a battle only awake or asleep.
    He highly estimated the performance as a perfect one firm in the ideological stand as it fully represented the prevailing grave situation.

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Fish Farm

    Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- The dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un gave field guidance to the Ryongjong Fish Farm.
    He said the Ryongjong Fish Farm is a typical fish farm of the Songun era built at the initiative of leader Kim Jong Il and under his energetic guidance.
    He recollected the long and tiresome journeys made by Kim Jong Il, exerting devoted efforts to bring about a fresh turn in fish breeding as required by the new century, saying he could not forget November 21, 2010 when he visited there, accompanying the leader.
    At the general control room he watched the real-time measurement of the quantity, temperature, pH and oxygen content of water in indoor and outdoor fish ponds with the help of computers and underwater cameras' monitoring of the physiology of fishes.
    What is important in fish breeding is to put fish farming on a scientific basis, he noted, adding this would make it possible to keep fish production going at a high rate.
    He went round the fish ponds built along the water way of the Ryongjong spring.
    He was pleased to watch sturgeons and fishes of various other species in the ponds.
    Watching the Ryongjong spring from which water was flowing into the fish ponds in an endless stream, he recalled that when water stopped gushing out from the spring, service persons and employees of the fish farm turned out to restore it into its original state. Water supply is of particular importance for fish farming, he added.
    Feasting his eyes at the food factory and protein food factory standing near the outdoor ponds, he said with deep emotion that they were visited by Kim Jong Il.
    He said people cannot substantially benefit from fish farms if the supply of food for fishes is not put on a par with fish production no matter how many modern ones are built.
    Seeing the letters displayed in the compound of the fish farm "Sturgeons go to sea while the DPRK advances into the world", he told the officials to add the letters "Satellites enter space". World-startling miracles are being worked in various parts of the country through a dynamic drive for breaking through the cutting edge under the wise leadership of our party, he added.
    Noting that the Ryongjong Fish Farm is crystal of Kim Jong Il's love for people, he proposed erecting a monument to the undying leadership feats of Kim Jong Il and displaying his portrait in the compound of the farm to convey his loving care to posterity.
    He told the officials and employees of the fish farm to play a pioneer's role in translating the desire of Kim Jong Il to provide the people with more fish into reality.

Kim Jong Un Inspects Islet Defence Detachment

    Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un Monday inspected the Wolnae Islet Defence Detachment, an outpost in the biggest hotspot in the western sector of the front very near from Paekryong Island.
    He saw children on the islet jumping for joy, taking hands of their mothers and held them in his arms one by one before having a photo taken with them.
    He walked along the lane leading to the detachment and learned in detail about the terrains of the islet, deployment of firepower equipment and the soldiers' living for hours.
    He was briefed on the enemy's situation from the commander of the detachment at the observation post.
    He acquainted himself with the troop deployment and targets of the 6th marine brigade of the south Korean puppet army on Paekryong Island and praised the detachment for being fully ready to go into action in order to cope with the enemy's attempt at provocations.
    He underscored the need to keep increasing the density of fire and steadily modify and supplement the proposal for assignment of fire power duties and use of artillery pieces in order to cope with the enemy's changed troop deployment.
    He specified before the commanding officers of the detachment and the leading members of the artillery unit of the 4th Army Corps of the KPA who accompanied him the order of strike and density of fire for wiping out enemy's targets including radar posts, detectors for artillery pieces, Harpoon launching base, 130mm multiple rocket and 150mm self-propelled howitzer batteries under the 6th marine brigade of the south Korean puppet army.
    He ratified new regulations for naval operation: To fire threatening warning shells when enemy's warships sail close to waters on the extension of the Military Demarcation Line and fire powerful sighting shells to destroy them when they intrude into them.
    He said his inspection of the islet defence detachments stationed in the biggest hotspot was to accurately learn about the combat preparations and finally confirm the order for precision strike at enemy's targets.
    The enemies are on a knife edge for fear of prompt shelling from the KPA, he said, adding that the enemies feel fretful after straining the situation by staging what they called annual drills in the most sensitive waters where the two opposing sides stand in sharp confrontation.
    As the saying goes that a guy who is fond of playing with fire is bound to perish in flames, all the enemies quite often playing with fire in the sensitive hotspot should be thrown into a cauldron once I issue an order, he said, adding:
    The density of our fire is very high at present and it can strike enemy's targets on Paekryong Island three or four times and turn it into a sea in flames.
    He told the commander of the detachment to photograph enemy's positions engulfed in flames and blown up during a battle and send pictures to the Supreme Command.
    Once an order is issued, you should break the waists of the crazy enemies, totally cut their windpipes and thus clearly show them what a real war is like, he noted.
    As I told commanding officers while inspecting the Jangjae Islet Defence Detachment and the Mu Islet Hero Defence Detachment, if the Supreme Commander issues an order, the artillerymen of the Wolnae Islet Defence Detachment, too, should make the first gun report and signal flare for the great war for national reunification, he stressed.
    Satisfied to see combat positions including the observation post built well in line with the instruction of the Supreme Command on making thorough preparations for all-out action, he said that this detachment is a perfect unit as it has turned into a strike base from a defence one.
    He awarded higher military ranks to the commander and political commissar of the detachment on the spot by an order of the Supreme Commander as they have turned the detachment into an impregnable fortress, unsinkable warship.
    He had a photo taken with Kim Kwang Chol, private third class soldier, on watch duty and commanding officers of the detachment after taking them to his arms.
    He went round soldiers' bed room and education room to take warm care of their living.
    He gave a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle to the detachment as gifts and had a picture taken with soldiers and their families.
    He enjoyed a performance given by the art group of the detachment soldiers on the same day.
    Praising them for giving a good performance and singing songs well, he said this was a model of the Songun culture. He also praised the detachment for conducting well the political and ideological education as intended by the party.
    He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Kyok Sik, Kim Yong Chol, Pak Jong Chon, Rim Kwang Il and An Ji Yong.

 

 

Kim Jong Un Inspects Long-range Artillery Sub-unit of KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Un Monday inspected a long-range artillery sub-unit of KPA Unit 641 whose mission is to strike and wipe out the enemies on Paekryong Island.
    Expressing expectation and conviction that the soldiers of the sub-unit would remain true to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the party, he gave them a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a picture taken with them.
    He received a detailed report from the commanding officers on the combat preparedness of the sub-unit.
    He highly praised the sub-unit for having made perfect combat preparations as required by the operational technological plan of the Supreme Command, grasped all enemy targets and waited for the issue of an order to fire.
    Seeing Juche artillery pieces of the sub-unit, he assigned to it the duty to blow up the headquarters of the puppet sixth marine brigade and its affiliated marine battalions through merciless firepower strikes if the enemies on Paekryong Island make a provocation.
    He assessed the time for preparing shooting while guiding the firepower training of the soldiers of the sub-unit.
    After watching the firepower training of the artillerymen, he praised them for being fully prepared to fire shells right now.
    A modern war is an artillery war and the combat preparations of artillerymen is the one of the KPA, he said, setting forth the tasks which would serve as guidelines for making perfect combat preparations of the unit.
    Each day at present is little short of a real war state in the true sense of the word and for the artillerymen to become master cracks is a combat task which brooks no delay, he said.
    He underscored the need to steadily study and round off new artillery war methods of Korean style in line with the improved arms and equipment of the unit and the changing operational scenarios of the enemies, meticulously organize and command artillery operations and combats and thus give fullest play to the might of artillery pieces.
    Saying that he attaches importance to this artillery unit, he underlined the need to deal blows of justice at the enemies through unimaginably deadly strikes and wipe out the group of aggressors to the last man, if they recklessly provoke.
    He looked round the education room and bedroom of a company under the sub-unit to take deep care of the soldiers' living.
    He expressed great satisfaction again over the fact that the commanding officers and soldiers of the units stationed in the western sector of the front have turned all the operation theatres into impregnable fortresses to defend the party, the revolution, the country and its people at the cost of their lives.
    The areas in the western sector of the front are the biggest hotspot where a war can break out right now due to the reckless provocations of the enemies for aggression, he noted, underlining the need to maintain the maximum alert as required by a touch-and-go situation and make powerful retaliatory strikes at the enemies if they intrude into seas of the country even 0.001mm on which the DPRK's sovereignty is exercised.
    He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Kyok Sik, Kim Yong Chol, Pak Jong Chon, Rim Kwang Il and An Ji Yong.

 

The Prime Mover behind the Nuclear Issue of the Korean Peninsula

 The United States made an official announcement on January 29, 1958 that it had deployed nuclear weapons in the southern half of the Korean peninsula.

This was how the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula was created.

Ascribed the defeat of the US in the Korean war (1950-1953) which it ignited to its failure to use atomic bombs, the US politicians speeded up the preparations for a nuclear war in Korea. They shipped many nuclear weapons into south Korea, clamouring that the Korean peninsula is a strategic zone corresponding to an object of the use of nuclear weapons and a testing ground of a nuclear war.

South Korea was turned into the largest nuclear base in the Far East by the mid-1970s. A member of the US House of Representatives in those days confessed that the US had deployed over a thousand nuclear weapons and 54 nuke transport planes in south Korea.

The US worked out many Korea-targeted nuclear war plans which it steadily concretized through various war exercises.

Every year the US and south Korea staged joint war exercises of different code names such as Foal Eagle, Ulji Focus Lens, Rimpac and Freedom Banner, mobilizing a huge amount of nuclear war means enough to fight a real war.

As seen above, Korea has been under the constant nuclear threat of the US for over half a century.

This compelled Korea to pay a special attention to the settlement of nuclear issue. It has made every possible effort to solve the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula since the US declared it had deployed nuclear weapons in south Korea. Korea entered the NPT and IAEA and signed the DPRK-US Agreed Framework in order to remove nuclear threat of the US and danger of a nuclear war in the Korean peninsula.

However, the nuclear threat of the US was not diminished.

At a DPRK-US talks held in the years of the Clinton administration the US provided assurances to the DPRK against the threat or use of nuclear and all other types of weapons by it and declared that it would not harbour a hostile intent toward Korea.

But all its commitments were not implemented. The Bush administration nullified the DPRK-US agreements its predecessor made and designated Korea as part of the “axis of evil” and a target of preemptive nuclear attack.

Korea could not but withdraw from the NPT and build a self-defensive nuclear deterrent.

Later, at the six-way talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula the US affirmed its will not to attack or invade Korea with nuclear or conventional weapons. And it assured several times that it would improve bilateral relations and move toward establishing the diplomatic relations with Korea.

The United States reneged on this promise, too. On the contrary it intensified its offensive moves to stifle Korea, continuously aggravating the situation in the Korean peninsula.

As proved by the above-mentioned facts, it is none other than the US that is the prime mover behind the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula and its complication.

Therefore, the US is to blame for the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula.

Nevertheless, the US has misled the public opinion as if responsibility for it rests with Korea, claiming that the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula was raised and the situation prevailing in the region became tense because Korea had withdrawn from the NPT and had nuclear tests.

Then please give it a thought. What would have become of Korea and the situation there if Korea has not possessed a nuclear deterrent?

Korea must have been destined to be like Iraq or Libya and the Korean peninsula like the Balkan peninsula in the end of the last century and Afghanistan in the beginning of the new century.

To be more specific, the US would have started a war in the Korean peninsula, the most catastrophic nuclear war the humanity has ever experienced.

But fortunately, Korea had a nuclear deterrent. Herein lies the reason why Korea’s nuclear deterrent is called a sure guarantee for the peace in the Korean peninsula.

The US Must Draw a Lesson from the Pueblo Incident

 

Forty five years have elapsed since the Pueblo Incident occurred, which precipitated a touch-and-go situation on the Korean peninsula.

On January 23, 1968, a naval vessel of the Korean People’s Army, during a routine patrol, captured the US armed spy ship Pueblo and more than 80 of its crew in the act of committing espionage after illegally intruding into the territorial waters of the DPRK.

In capturing them, the DPRK was exercising its sovereign right as a dignified sovereign state.

However, the US clamoured about “retaliation,” claiming that the ship was in international waters and did not engage in espionage. In fact, this was the first American vessel in history that was captured by the navy of a foreign country. It was indeed a great shame for the US. The US political circles were utterly dismayed, the National Security Council meeting on January 24 and 25 in succession and adopting resolutions for military “retaliation.”

Accordingly, a task force with the nuclear aircraft carrier Enterprise as a flagship moved out toward the sea off Wonsan, Korea, and several hundreds of fighter-bombers headed for south Korea. An “emergency mobilization order” was given to the US army stationed in Japan and south Korea.

Not satisfied with this, the US brought in two more aircraft carriers.

The world watched the developments on the Korean peninsula with anxiety. The leadership of the former Soviet Union, an ally of the DPRK, urged its counterpart to release the US ship, reasoning that a war might break out if the DPRK mishandled the incident and the Vietnamese war unleashed by the US, as well as the Spanish war, had been triggered by a ship incident.

To this the DPRK responded by declaring that it would retaliate against the “retaliation” and return all-out war for the “all-out war.”

The DPRK was in full combat readiness, and everyone thought a war was inevitable in Korea.

Facing a duel of force and an exchange of fire, the US backtracked.

Overpowered by the Korean army and people who regarded the sovereignty and dignity of their country as more important than their own lives, the US proposed a dialogue to the DPRK government. In December that year, the US signed a letter of apology in which it confessed that its ship intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK and committed hostile acts, and gave assurances that it would not do the same in the future. As the then President Johnson admitted, it was the first apology of the US.

Through the Pueblo Incident, the DPRK showed its full determination to fight to the finish against those who infringe upon its sovereignty without making any concession.

The US should have drawn a due lesson from the incident. In later days, however, it has persisted in acts of espionage, military provocations, arms buildup and military drills against the DPRK. Some examples are the shooting down of the spy plane EC-121 in 1969, the Panmunjom Incident in 1976, the crash landing of a helicopter in the DPRK’s airspace in December 1994, and the fleeing of the electronic reconnaissance plane RC-135 after being frightened by the hot pursuit of the KPA plane while perpetrating espionage in the DPRK’s airspace in March 2003. In all these incidents, widely known to the world, the US was subjected to a stern punishment by the DPRK.

Now the US is boisterous about “detente,” “peace” and “end of war” and “dialogue” on the Korean peninsula, but as a matter of fact, it is steeped in political stratagems and military provocations to suffocate the DPRK.

The DPRK is constantly on the alert, keeping a sharp watch for the US moves.

Counter provocations with an immediate counteroffensive, and an aggressive war with a war of justice for the country’s reunification–this is the stand and will of the DPRK’s army and people at present. It may be claimed to be an advanced version of the DPRK’s declaration that it would retaliate against the “retaliation” and return all-out war for the “all-out war.”

The DPRK has already won international recognition as a military power and nuclear state. It has acquired inexhaustible military capabilities of dealing an instant and merciless blow to anybody who intrudes even an inch into its territory, waters and airspace, regardless of where they are from.

The US must never forget the disgraceful incident of 45 years ago.
