First Conference of Chairpersons of WPK Primary Committees Opens

The First Conference of Chairpersons of the Primary Committees of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) opened at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Friday.
The conference will analyze and review the successes and experience, defects and lessons witnessed in the past drive of the primary party committees for turning themselves into the invincible integral ones in which the oneness of ideology and leadership is strictly ensured and which form a harmonious whole with the popular masses, and for carrying out the Party's line and policies. And it will discuss the tasks and ways to improve their work as required by the new era of the Juche revolution.
Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was present at the conference.
Also attending it were Vice Marshal of the KPA Hwang Pyong So, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission (SAC) and director of the KPA General Political Bureau, Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, vice-chairman of the SAC and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Ri Su Yong, Kim Phyong Hae, Ri Man Gon, O Su Yong, Kwak Pom Gi and Kim Yong Chol who are members of the Political Bureau and vice-chairmen of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Su Gil, Kim Nung O, Pak Thae Song and Jo Yon Jun who are alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, chairpersons of the primary committees of the WPK and party officials in Pyongyang and provinces.
Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the party, army and state, made an opening address.
Kim Ki Nam made a report.
Noting the history of the WPK is shining with the undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who advanced and perfectly applied the Juche-based idea of building basic party organizations, the reporter said:
The great leaders' idea of prioritizing the primary party committees and guidance over them has been successfully carried forward and developed by supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
The history of the ever-victorious WPK is a sacred history in which the validity and vitality of the Juche-based party-building idea of attaching importance to the basic party organizations have been clearly proven. It also constitutes proud annals in which the primary party committees have remained true to the idea and cause of the WPK by performing feats through a heroic struggle.
In particular, the past five years, during which the era of a new historic turn was opened in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche, were the days of victory and glory when the role of the primary party committees had been enhanced remarkably and the indomitable spirit and might of the WPK strikingly demonstrated.
The most important success made in the work of the primary party committees is that they have been imbued with the idea of the leader and turned into strong militant ranks that move as one under his guidance.
The primary party committees have enthusiastically mobilized the party members and other working people to the drive for carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche and the cause of building a socialist power.
All the primary committees of the WPK have been firmly consolidated as the ones strong in faith that remain loyal to the idea and will of the leader only, vanguard ranks of loyalty that make a breakthrough in the van of the drive for upholding the Party policies while linking the leader and the masses with blood ties. The Party takes special pride in this as it is a great victory achieved in accomplishing the cause of building the Juche-based party.
Stressing the need to steadily strengthen the WPK into an indomitable and militant party and further enhance its leadership role in order to speed up the building of a socialist power and successfully accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche by implementing the decision made at the 7th WPK Congress, the reporter said:
What is most important to this end is to strengthen the primary committees, the principal militant units of the Party, in every way and herein lies the reason why the First Conference of Chairpersons of the Primary Committees was convened by the WPK.
At present the WPK requires every primary party organization to meticulously guide the organizational and ideological life of its members and vigorously conduct the drive for implementing the behests of the leaders and upholding the Party's policies so as to accelerate the modeling of the whole Party and society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and make a breakthrough in the all-out offensive for the final victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The reporter called for going all out to carry through the decision of the 7th WPK Congress and hasten the final victory in the development of the great Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist party and the revolutionary cause of Juche, the cause of building a socialist power, rallied closer around Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Speeches were made at the conference.
Speakers mentioned the achievements and experience gained in the work of primary committees.
They also referred to the defects found in the work of some primary committees.
They expressed their resolve to bring about a great turn in the work of primary party organizations as demanded by the period of a new leap forward in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche and thus turn all the basic party organizations into the first death-defying corps in the drive to implement the idea of the Party and uphold its policies.

The conference continues.

Kim Jong Un Makes Opening Address at First Conference of Chairpersons of WPK Primary Committees

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, made an opening address at the First Conference of Chairpersons of the Primary Committees of the WPK on Friday.
He said that the Conference of Chairpersons of the Primary Committees of the WPK is held for the first time in its history amid the grandiose struggle to carry out the decision of its 7th Congress.
He paid the highest tribute and extended eternal glory to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, the founder and builder of the glorious WPK and the symbol of the dignified DPRK, representing the boundless reverence of the participants in the conference, all other party members, service personnel and people of the country.
He offered warm gratitude and militant salute to the participants of the conference and all other chairpersons of the primary committees of the Party who are reliably defending the main combat positions for implementing the Party policies, regarding absolute loyalty to the Party and the boundless devotion to the people as their life and keeping pace with the Party Central Committee despite any difficulties and trials.
After informing the participants of the overall international political situation including the one prevailing in Northeast Asia and the situation in south Korea, he said that the prevailing international situation more clearly proves how just and correct the WPK's idea and line of simultaneously developing the two fronts were.
He noted that scared by the remarkably increasing strategic position of the DPRK, the imperialist reactionary forces are making desperate efforts, cooking up the UN "sanctions resolution" and even crying out for "independent sanctions", stressing that this is the most vivid proof of the victory of the DPRK. He said with pride that great progress was made in the development of the revolution under the correct leadership of the Party this year.
Thanks to ardent patriotism and loyalty and devoted struggle of all officials and working people, unprecedented production successes were made in the fields of industry, agriculture, pomiculture and fishery, the first-stage project for recovering from the flood damage in the northern part of North Hamgyong Province was successfully completed and the construction of Ryomyong Street made rapid progress during the 200- day campaign and is nearing completion, he pointed out.
He said that the DPRK bolstered up its nuclear force both in quality and quantity by succeeding in developing Korean-style latest strategic weapons in the field of national defence science and achieved a lot of successes in the fields of science, education, public health and sports, adding that all of them were possible because all chairpersons of the primary committees of the WPK powerfully aroused all their members and other working people to the struggle for devotedly upholding the Party's line and policies and implementing them to the letter.
Kim Jong Un extended once again the warm congratulations to the chairpersons of the primary party committees participating in the conference with pride and honor of having successfully concluded the 200-day campaign, true to the call of the Party Central Committee, and all the party members and other people.
Referring to the Party's intention of regarding the Conference of Chairpersons of the Primary Committees of the WPK as important as the Party Congress, he emphasized that to raise the role of the primary committees is an important guarantee for strengthening the Party and victoriously advancing the revolution and construction.
Attaching weighty importance to the role of the chairpersons of the primary committees of the WPK, in particular, he noted that whether the Party's line and policies are correctly implemented or not depends on the politico-ideological preparation, organizational ability, revolutionary spirit and strong capabilities of the chairpersons of the primary committees.
The source of the strength of our Party and its invincible might lie in the close bonds of kinship with the broad popular masses and their full support and deep trust, he said.
He stressed the need for the conference to critically make a deep-going analysis and review of not only achievements and experience gained in the work of the primary party organizations in the past but also their shortcomings and their chairpersons' role and work-style and make an exhaustive discussion on the issue of enhancing the function and role of the primary party organizations in every way in the drive for developing it and implementing its policies.
He noted that the main purpose of the conference is to help all the participants reflect upon themselves with party conscience and make efforts to boldly rectify their shortcomings so that the conference may offer an opportunity of effecting such a great turn as bringing about a radical change in the work of the primary committees of the WPK.

He declared the conference open, expressing belief that it would be successfully held thanks to high political enthusiasm and active participation of all its attendants and thus mark a historic milestone in strengthening the WPK and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

S. Korean Forces' Provocation Can Never Save Park Geun Hye: CPRC Policy Department Spokesman

A spokesman for the Policy Department of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country (CPRC) of the DPRK released a statement on Saturday as regards the fact that the south Korean puppet regime is getting desperate in military provocation against the DPRK recently, hyping the "security crisis."
Bosses of the south Korean military including the minister of Defence and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are frequenting frontline units and special warfare units near the Military Demarcation Line, where they cry out for "full combat-readiness" for launching tough and resolute punishment to cope with "threat of provocation from the north," the statement said, and went on: They let warships and drones infiltrate into the territorial waters and air of the DPRK and staged a large-scale live shell firing drill in the hot spot of the West Sea to persistently increase military tensions on the ground and in the waters and air.
They convened a meeting of major commanders of the puppet armed forces 20 odd days earlier though it had been scheduled for December. Meetings of commanders of various services of the puppet army are being held to hatch plots of military provocation. They are spreading rumours about
"instability" across south Korea, hyping "grave security situation created due to possible provocation by the north taking advantage of the administrative vacancy in the south" and "imminent nuclear and missile tests by the north."
Lurking behind this is a sly trick to invent at any cost a case of armed clash between the north and the south by irritating the DPRK, quell the south Korean people's struggle for ousting Park Geun Hye under that pretext and thus save traitor Park from the abyss of ruin.
There is no guarantee that the Park regime that has been driven to a tight corner would not launch a provocation of war as its last-ditch attempt, and it is only the Korean nation including the south Korean people that will fall victim to it thereof.

No matter how desperately Park and the conservative group move to stay in power under the pretext of "security," they can never escape their fated doom.

US Sanctions on DPRK Will Lead to its Ruin

Yong Ran, deputy director of the Institute of International Studies of the DPRK, on December 5 issued an article titled "The US sanctions on the DPRK are ruinous".
The author referred to the adoption under duress of the "resolution on sanctions" on the DPRK by the US and its vassal forces by abusing the UN Security Council.
The basic reason for the US persistent slapping of sanctions against the DPRK is that the latter never wants to be obedient to the former's domination, the article said, and went on:
The US cooked up all sorts of sanctions under the pretext of the UN "sanctions resolution" but the DPRK has paved the path of its own life and prosperity despite the US persistent sanctions and blockade.
Korean-style socialism dynamically advancing in the self-development-first spirit as its engine is the simplest and the most explicit reason why the US sanctions do not work on the DPRK. The US and its vassal forces are resorting to the sanctions racket out of calculation that continued sanctions will some time prove effective.
Nothing is more foolish than to attempt to break down the single-minded unity of the DPRK in which its people are rallied close around their leader in thinking and feelings.

Twelve administrations have been replaced in the US ranging from Truman who ignited the Korean war to Obama who consumed lots of energy in the racket for sanctions on the DPRK pursuant to the "strategic patience" but they all proved futile, the reason being their ignorance of the DPRK. Whoever becomes the owner of the White House, if he or she hopes for winning the confrontation with the DPRK, that will be an expression of the most serious ignorance of the DPRK and the US is fated to go to ruin.

FM Spokesman Hits out at US-sponsored Anti- DPRK "Human Rights" Farce at UNSC

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA on December 11 as regards the US-sponsored discussion of the "human rights issue" of the DPRK at the UN Security Council:
Recently, the US and its followers held what they called an open meeting of the UNSC, where they tabled and discussed the non-existent "human rights issue" of the DPRK.
The DPRK vehemently denounces the anti-DPRK "human rights" racket staged at the UNSC again as a hideous act hostile to the DPRK.
The US, disregarding the UN Charter and the opposition of many countries, brought the above-said "issue" up for discussion at the UNSC in an illegal manner by mobilizing its vassal forces. This is just an outspoken mockery and insult to the UN and its member states.
Several member states of the UNSC said no to the discussion of the "issue" at the meeting. This reflects the unanimous stand of the overwhelming majority of the developing countries rejecting the tabling of the issue at the UNSC.
It is a hard fact that the Human Rights Council and other councils exist at the UN.
This notwithstanding, the US brought the "human rights issue" of the DPRK to the UNSC utterly unrelated to human rights.
This is because the UNSC has been reduced to the one where the US remains unrivaled in its high¬handed and arbitrary practices in disregard of the UN Charter and international law.
All facts again prove that the UNSC has turned into a "comprehensive and all-mighty council" controlled by the US, bereft of its original mission to be responsible for ensuring global peace and security. In this context, the reform of the UNSC is an urgent requirement of the times that should be carried out without further delay.
A lackey of Obama who will soon be compelled to leave the Oval Office after sustaining his bitter defeat went so reckless as to dare hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK at the UNSC in a sinister bid to tarnish its image and stir up the atmosphere of pressurizing it. But the lackey is sadly mistaken if he calculates that such ill-minded act can work on the DPRK and other countries.

The DPRK will never pardon the hostile forces' "human rights" farce against the DPRK but thoroughly smash it through resolute toughest counteraction.

It’s time to stop trying to predict North Korea’s collapse

Choi Sun-sil's collapse theory was rooted in Shamanism, many analyst's predictions are just as shaky
Everyone is interested in the notion that North Korea is on the verge of collapse. The idea has been around a long time, certainly since the early 1990s, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, if not before. Peter Hayes and David F. von Hippel, writing in 2011 commented:
“‘Collapsists” have been arguing since the end of the Cold War that the DPRK ‘is about to collapse.’  Indeed, one notable expert and colleague, Aidan Foster-Carter, reissued his latest prediction in this vein on November 15, 2009, saying that the DPRK could “fall at any moment,”—a claim no more persuasive than that made by Foster-Carter in 1992.“
Aidan Foster-Carter, in fact, found that with age comes wisdom and in 2015 bravely and disarmingly wrote:
“Enough of this nonsense. “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?” Sound advice, whether or not Keynes actually said it. I resisted right up until 2009, but finally had to admit the force of Bruce Cumings’ jibe at all of us who thought this way: “When does the statute of limitations run out on being systematically wrong?'”
The title of Foster-Carter’s essay (on 38 North) was entitled “Obama Comes Out as an NK Collapsist” and he was lamenting that the illusion of Collapsism was informing US policy and specifically that of ‘Strategic Patience.’ If North Korea was about to collapse, the reasoning ran, there was no reason to negotiations.
There is still no shortage of predictions of imminent collapse.
Journalists, especially those not familiar with Korea, are prone to this because it makes a good story and the future cannot be disproved in the present. And by the time the future arrives the media, with its famously short memory, has moved on.
A couple of recent examples: Julian Ryall, writing in April in the respected official German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle (now branded by the initials DW), asked: “Is North Korea finally close to collapse?“.  Deutsche Welle, incidentally, has a curious Korean echo since it means ‘German Wave.’ Over in the U.S., Jamie Metzl had an article in The National Interest  in June with the splendidly apocalyptic heading: “Doomsday: The Coming Collapse of North Korea.”
MILITARY INTELLIGENCE?
People in the military-industrial-security complex, of course, are not left out of this. There is, for instance, General Walter Sharp former commander of U.S. forces in South Korea, who was reported in May this year saying “there will be instability in North Korea that I believe will lead to the collapse of North Korea much sooner than many of us think.”
Generals, it must be admitted, have a certain dispensation here: lying and deception is part of the job description going back to Homer in one direction and Sun Zi-an another. They are allowed to say things not because they believe them but to achieve a particular effect.
People in the security industry take a different tack, often slipping in words such as ‘possibility’ or ‘contingency’ in case the predictions are not fulfilled before retirement. Thus we have, for instance, Bruce Bennet’s RAND report Preparing for the Possibility of a North Korean Collapse.
But few serious and informed commenters outside the security industry are Collapsists these days. Not (any longer) Foster- Carter. Nor Georgy Toloraya. In May 2016 Toloraya wrote:
“Some commentators in Seoul have concluded that unification is not only desirable but also quickly achievable, as evidenced by indications that the North Korean regime is about to collapse. Though I see no signs of brewing instability as I write this in Pyongyang.”
In November after another visit to Pyongyang, where he observed economic growth and a mood of optimism (which led him reluctantly to conclude that the Byungjin policy was a success, an opinion supported by a recent NK Pro poll), he opined that ‘Waiting for the regime collapse is hardly a choice’ for foreign policymakers.
Andrei Lankov is a bit of an outsider here, predicting in July that “a revolutionary collapse of the Kim family regime still seems to be highly likely.”
THE WASHINGTON CONSENSUS
Where did Obama get his Collapsism from?  If not quite from the horse’s mouth then probably from the stable next door: the president of South Korea. That was initially Lee Myung-bak and then, of course, Park Geun-hye.
Foster-Carter has also taken a swipe at Park Geun-hye’s ‘jackpot’ speech, which was based on the idea that North Korea would collapse and the South would absorb it in one big swallow, with no indigestion to follow.  This was in an article in the Wall Street Journal early in 2014 entitled “Jackpot or Crackpot? Park on Reunification”.
Crackpot? How right he was!
It turns out that Park Geun-hye was probably convinced of the imminent collapse of the North by none other than Choi Sun-sil.  Hankyoreh Washington correspondent Yi Yong-in, has written of his difficulties in trying to explain to U.S. Korean experts what was behind the strange twists and turns in Park Geun-hye’s North Korea policy, and his embarrassment in finding out that the answer was most likely Choi Sun-sil.
“Even after I was assigned to the United States, I was asked by American experts on the Korean Peninsula on several occasions about who in the world was giving advice to Park,” he wrote. “These experts did not understand why Park was so committed to the idea of North Korean regime collapse.”
FRAGILE MYSTIC
What led Choi Sun-sil to her judgment on North Korea and her advice to the President of South Korea? Was she an avid reader of NK News, 38 North, or Yonhap and KCNA? Perhaps.
But more likely she resorted to family skills in the Shamanistic tradition, following in her father’s footsteps. Her father, Choi Tae-min, reportedly won Park Geun-hye’s confidence after he predicted the death of her father, Park Chung-hee, although he doesn’t appear to have given any details and his warning was sufficiently ambiguous to be subject to all sorts of interpretations after the event.
But that is how the business works if you are to be successful. Choi Tae-min, who was described in a cable from the U.S. embassy as a ‘Rasputin,’ managed to acquire a fortune through his influence over Park Geun-hye and his daughter seems to have followed in his footsteps.
Both have been linked to Shamanism, much to the indignation of real shamans – “Don’t call Choi a shaman, it’s a disgrace to shamans“ – reported the Korea Times. The same paper also posed the question: “Choi Soon-sil – Shaman or con artist?“.
Whether shaman possess special skills in making predictions is perhaps a matter of personal judgment. Certainly, the Mexican shaman who predicted in January that Trump would lose the election in November didn’t do too well, but maybe Korean shamans are better.

In any case it is curious to think that the North Korea policy of the United States, the country that did so much to expand the role of science, which put a man on the moon, which has some 16 intelligence agencies and whose National Security Agency monitors the world’s communications, was perhaps ultimately based on the shamanistic divinations of Park Geun-hye’s con-woman confidante.

Kim Jong Un Guides Firing Contest among MLRS Batteries of KPA

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), guided a firing contest among multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) batteries selected from large combined units of the KPA.
The Supreme Commander was briefed on the mode and method of the contest at an observation post and issued an order to start the contest.
He underscored the need to conduct the training of artillery units under the simulated conditions of an actual battle in order to prepare all gunners to be capable of hitting targets anytime, saying that he could easily learn that their training was highly intensified under the worst conditions.
When the order to fire was given, all the gunners in the contest opened fire with a will to reduce the enemy's post to ashes at a strike.
Kim Jong Un expressed his satisfaction over the fact that all targets were hit properly, saying that the gunners are very excellent at firing and all of them are snipers.
He gave a high appreciation of the successful contest.
He said the contest proved once again that if the gunners make it a rule to conduct trainings under the simulated conditions of an actual war in order to move quickly in conformity with any changing situation and their combat mission and ensure precision predicting and adjusted fire, with main stress put on raising the hit rate, they will display telling shots any time in any place.
He gave important instructions for bolstering up the artillery.
Noting that this year began and ends with the sound of gunfire, he called on the commanding officers and gunners to intensify the training day and night, true to the intention of the Party channeling big efforts into rounding off the artillery combat readiness and thus pave the way for southward advance and provide the victory of war with bull's-eye strikes.
In the contest, the first place was taken by battery under the 8th Corps, the second place by battery under the 3rd Corps and the third place by battery under the 7th Corps.

Crack-shot certificates, medals and badges were awarded to the successful MLRS batteries under the 8th, 3rd, 7th, 10th and 9th Corps of the KPA.

Kim Jong Un Guides Night Assault Combat Flight Drill of KPA Pursuit Plane Regiment

Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA) Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, guided the night assault combat flight drill of fighter pilots of Hero Kil Yong Jo Pursuit Plane Regiment.
He learned about the sortie preparedness of the pursuit planes at the stopping place.
Looking at the plan of the drill at the observation post, he heard a report from the commander of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force and issued an order to start the drill.
He said that he could watch well if the planes are flying properly despite darkness, very pleased that the pilots are good at aerobatics and the command of the flight has been put on a scientific and modern basis on a high level.
At last the planes reached the sky above the targeted area one by one.
Seeing the planes hitting the targets on the display, he said the targets are hit. He clapped his hands with a broad smile on his face, noting it seems to watch the drill in daytime, not at night.
"As I emphasized whenever watching the rehearsal of fighter pilots, the battle for defending the territorial air of the country is not fought, depending on weather or time, and a modern warfare is waged in the worst conditions. It is, therefore, necessary to fully prepare the fighter pilots as able airmen and all-round ones capable of successfully carrying out any aerial combat duty in any adversity by conducting similar drill in the future," he stressed.
Noting that the reliable fighter pilots of the Party fully demonstrated that they are ready to go into action anytime once an order is issued, though the above-said drill was organized all of a sudden, he said:
"Thanks to the death-defying corps of the airmen possessed of the indomitable spirit of defending the country and the self-blasting spirit, the sky of the country will always remain azure."
He met with the pilots and had a photo taken with them, congratulating them on their successful drill.
Warmly shaking hands with the pilots who were moved to tears, he said the indomitable spirit displayed by the pilots in the drill hardly possible without strong pluck is the priceless moral assets and that the Party and the country and its people are very proud of them. He asked commanding officers to convey his greetings to all air persons and other service members and their families of the unit.
He gave the thanks of the supreme commander of the KPA to the regiment and showed deep loving care for it.

He was accompanied by KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So, director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, KPA Vice Marshal Ri Myong Su, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Army Col. General Ri Yong Gil, first vice-chief of the General Staff of the KPA and director of the General Operational Bureau of the KPA, and Ri Pyong Chol, first vice-department director of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Un Enjoys "Masik Pass Ski Contest-2016"

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), watched the "Masik Pass Ski Contest-2016".
The contest brought together the Maebongsan Team of the KPA, the Sajabong Team of Ryanggang Province, the Jangjasan Team of Jagang Province, the Kwanmobong Team of North Hamgyong Province and the Songchongang Team of South Hamgyong Province.
They competed in slalom, ski jump, giant slalom and downhill.
After being told about the contest plan and the preparedness of the skiers by Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, supreme leader Kim Jong Un watched the competition.
The slalom took place.
Skiers of every team displayed fine movements, skillfully sliding down along the course.
Kim Jong Un said that the Ski Association was founded in Korea in January, 1949 under the guidance of President
Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and acceded to the International Ski Federation in 1965, underlining the need to bring the ski event to the world level at an early date in order to prove successful in international games.
The giant slalom took place amid the hot competition of skiers.
There began downhill, the climax of the skiing events.
Watching it, Kim Jong Un said that the skiing of brave players was impressive.
He said judging from the skiers' performance, he was confident that the country can surely produce world-level ski stars in the future if great efforts are channeled into improving skiing events helpful to cultivating prowess, courage and agility and comprehensively developing people's physical strength and skiing is developed on a mass scale and made an inseparable part of their daily life.
He set forth tasks to serve as guidelines for rapidly developing the nation's sports, saying that sports play a role which nothing can substitute in demonstrating the country's prestige and instilling national pride and honor into the people.
There was a prize-awarding ceremony at the end of the successful contest at which men and women skiers fully displayed their skills and indomitable will they cultivated in their day-to-day training.
Choe Ryong Hae, chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, conferred a trophy cup and gold medals on the players of the Maebongsan Team of the KPA, who took the first place in the contest, silvers on the players of the Sajabong Team in Ryanggang Province and bronzes to the players of the Jangjasan Team in Jagang Province.

Among the spectators were Hwang Pyong So, Choe Ryong Hae, Ri Su Yong, O Su Yong, Ri Yong Gil, Ri Il Hwan, Kim Yong Su, Jo Yong Won, Han Kwang Sang, Pak Jong Chon, Ma Won Chun and the chairmen of the provincial party committees and people of all social strata.

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Wonsan Army-People Power Station

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Wonsan Army-People Power Station.
Standing on the dam of the power station, he was very pleased that the completion of the power station opened a bright prospect for successfully realizing the desire of leader Kim Jong Il who was so concerned for the improvement of the standard of the living of the people in Kangwon Province.
Going round the room dedicated to the history of the power station and the generators room, the control room, etc. of Wonsan Army-People Power Station No. 2, he learnt in detail about its construction, electricity production and supply.
He said that the power station was well designed and constructed at a high level.
Highly praising the people in Kangwon Province for building the power station as a splendid monumental structure by their own efforts, he noted that what they performed constitutes a precious treasure which would go down in the history of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) as it recorded a brilliant page in the history of the building of a rich and powerful nation.
He gave the power station instructions which would serve as guidelines for managing and operating it.
Noting the officials, party members and other people in Kangwon Province who built another power station with very large capacity are the indomitable fighters who proved in practice the great vitality of the self-development-first principle, he reposed the deepest trust in them by calling them creators of the spirit of Kangwon Province and urging all other people of the country to learn from their example.
He highly appreciated the feats the Kangwon Provincial Party Committee performed by proving in practice through the construction of the power station that one can create anything out of nothing if one dynamically conducts the organizational and political work among popular masses.
He underscored the need for all Party organizations to powerfully arouse the Party members and other people to create the Mallima speed, regarding the last instructions of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the Party policies as a lifeline in the general advance for implementing the decision made at the 7th Party Congress just as the Kangwon Provincial Party Committee has done and thus bring earlier the shining victory in the drive for building a powerful socialist country.
Noting his trust in the people in Kangwon Province grew deeper and his expectation for them got stronger, he encouraged them to put increased spurs to creation and construction, not resting on their laurels, but to become an example to be followed by the whole country in all aspects.

He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, O Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Yong Su, department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Jo Yong Won, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Wonsan Shoes Factory

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Wonsan Shoes Factory.
Shaking hands with the familiar officials of the factory, he appreciated much efforts made by its workers to attain the goal of the 200-day campaign by the end of August last in the vim and vigor with which they greeted the Seventh Congress of the Party after over fulfilling their yearly national economy plan during the 70-day campaign of loyalty. He highly praised them for putting into practice the Party's intention of having turned the factory into a model and icon of the shoes factories of the nation.
He went round the room dedicated to the history of the factory.
Satisfied to learn that the factory is effectively conducting the education of its employees in various forms and by diverse methods after successfully arranging the room dedicated to its history so that they may keenly feel leader Kim Jong Il's love for the people, he called on them to bring their products to the world level with the pride and honor of working at the glorious factory and thus implement the instructions given by the leader to it to the letter.
Going round the injection molding work team, shoe-making shop, instep strap shop, designing room and other places of the factory, he learnt in detail about the production and quality of products.
Looking with a broad smile at varieties of shoes for men, women and children manufactured by the factory, he said that he could notice the increase in varieties of shoes and improved style of shoes. "They look very nice and it is gratifying," he said, adding with pleasure that the factory has greeted a heyday for shoes.
He set forth the tasks facing the Wonsan Shoes Factory.
He expressed expectation and conviction that the factory would make uninterrupted innovations and advance in the spirit of Mallima as befitting the factory to which the Party pays deep attention.
