KCNA Commentary Snipes at Japan's Moves to Seize Tok Island

Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- Japan is going more and more impudent to

seize Tok Island, an inalienable part of the Korean nation.

Japan recently published its 2019 diplomatic blue book, which stipulated

that Tok Island is a "part of its territory."

Such brigandish act of the brazen-faced Japs seized with a wild territorial

ambition is utterly unpardonable.

Tok Island is just part of the Korean nation's inalienable territory from a

geographical, historical and legal point of view. And this fact is undeniable.

It is well known that Koreans found the island and settled on it one

thousand and hundreds of years ago and successive feudal governments of

Japan repeatedly acknowledged it.

Historical data proving that Japan didn't recognize Tok Island as its

territorial part have been found continuously in recent years.

A complete map of the Empire of Japan published by a geological survey

office of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce in 1888 and

1892 and a map for the course of the then secondary education, a Japanese

textbook, were found in 2016. Those maps show that Tok Island is an island

of Korea.

A copy of the Taedongyo Map showing Tok Island beside Ullung Island,

published between 1864 and 1889, was found in 2017.

In 1854 a Russian fleet made a survey of the island and specified it as an

island of Korea. The then naval department of Japan used the map of Korea

including Tok Island in the 1870s. Such facts are enough to prove that the

island is part of the inalienable territory of Korea.

However, Japan has repeated the farce of claiming "dominium over Tok

Island", deceiving the international community.

Japan desperately denies its crime-woven past and commits new state

crimes while covering up the truth.

Lurking behind it is its sinister intention to invent a pretext for annexing

Korea and realizing continental aggression as it did in the past century by

internationalizing the issue of Tok Island and causing a territorial dispute.

Wild territorial ambition is the nature of an aggressor state.

No matter how frequently Japan talks about "peace", it can never hide its

true colors as an aggressor and war-like state.

Japan has actually laid all military, economic and legal foundations

necessary for a war-capable state under the regime of Abe hell-bent on the

wild militarist ambition. The aggressor forces of the island country have

been transformed into offensive forces capable of taking prompt actions in

any parts of the region and the world any moment.

The regime is also pushing ahead with the publication of the textbooks on

social subjects for elementary schools containing the wrong claim that Tok

Island under illegal occupation by a foreign country at present is part of

Japan's inalienable territory in a bid to infuse such twisted historical outlook

and territorial conception into the minds of the rising generation.

Japan still remains unchanged in seeking the deep-rooted wild ambition of

aggression for realizing the old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity

Sphere."

But it is the truth taught by history that such foolhardy ambition is bound

to end in defeat.

The undisguised reinvasion moves of Japan, the sworn enemy seeking to

seize the territory of the Korean nation generation after generation, will only

harden the will of the latter to force the former to pay dearly for its crimes

without fail.

Tok Island will always remain part of the inalienable territory of the

Korean nation.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Censures U.S. for Releasing Anti-DPRK Press Statement

Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- The Policy Research Director of the

Institute for American Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the

Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), gave the following answer to

a question put by KCNA on May 11 with regard to the press statement

released recently by the U.S. Department of State for the purpose of

tarnishing the DPRK's human rights situation on the occasion of so-called

"North Korea Freedom Week."

The press statement of the U.S. State Department is nothing but a

sophistry full of falsehoods and fabrications, which stems from a sinister

political purpose to tarnish the dignified image of the DPRK.

What should be taken more serious is the fact that the United States,

turning its back on the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement committing to

establish new bilateral relations, is taking the lead of hostile actions against

the DPRK by instigating the anti-DPRK plotting agencies embedded with the

inveterate repugnance for the DPRK.

This has laid bare the American ulterior intention that it does not want the

improved DPRK-U.S. relations really, but seeks only to overthrow our system.

The latest release of press statement by the U.S. State Department is

clear evidence that the present Administration follows in the footsteps of the

previous Administrations in regard of the policy hostile to the DPRK.

Although the U.S. is making desperate and foolish efforts to bring us

down by clinging to the "human rights" racket along with the "maximum

pressure" aimed at destroying our system, it should bear in mind that such

an attempt will never work against us but instead push us dynamically to a

direction where the U.S. does not want to see.

The time when the U.S. was presumptuously acting as a "human rights

judge" is gone long ago, and it would better be obsessed with its own

business, rather than poking its nose into others affairs.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Guides Strike Drill Of Defence Units in Forefront Area and on Western Front

Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers'

Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic

People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of

the DPRK, guided the strike drill of defence units of the Korean People's

Army (KPA) in the forefront area and on the western front on Thursday.

At the command post Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un learned about a plan

of the strike drill of various long-range strike means and gave an order of start

of the drill.

The drill for mobility and assault strike designed to inspect the rapid

response of the defence units in the forefront area and on the western front

successfully showed the might of the units which were fully prepared to

proficiently carry out any operation and combat in the flames of the practical

actual maneuvers kindled by the Party.

Expressing satisfaction with the mobility, deployment and assault

strike, Kim Jong Un said that some days ago, the defence units on the eastern

front perfectly carried out their strike mission and today's drill showed the full

preparations of the defence units on the western front and the excellent ability

of the units in the forefront area to carry out the task of strike, in particular.

He stressed the need to further increase the capability of the defence units in

the forefront area and on the western front to carry out combat tasks and keep

full combat posture to cope with any emergency as required by the prevailing

situation and in keeping with the Party's strategic intention.

Noting that the genuine peace and security of the country are guaranteed

only by the strong physical force capable of defending its sovereignty, he

stressed that the People's Army should reliably defend the socialist country

and the people's heroic struggle for creation by force of arms of revolution in

the future, too.

He set forth important tasks for further increasing the strike ability of the

defence units of the KPA in the forefront area and on the western front.

Watching the drill together with him were leading officials of the Central

Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea including Kim Phyong Hae, O Su

Yong and Jo Yong Won.

Enraged S. Korean Mindset Is Signal of Second Candlelight Resistance: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- South Koreans are becoming increasingly

stronger in their demand for the dissolution of the "Liberal Korea Party"(LKP).

The petition movement for LKP dissolution that was occasioned by the

display on the notice board of Chongwadae of a posting reading "I am

beseeching that LKP is disbanded and the country is propped up" now appears

to have an explosive dimension, according to local media.

The number of petitioners has exceeded 1.7 million in eleven days.

This eruption of rage and hatred of the furious south Koreans against the

conservative group points to the public mindset as eager as that at a time of

the past candlelight resistance when they ousted traitor Park Geun Hye and

toppled her dictatorial regime.

The strong demand for the dissolution of the LKP by the broad spectrum of

south Koreans shows that the traitorous political party has gone to the

extremes in going roughshod against the trend of the times and the mindset

of the people.

Now getting intent on disrupting the current of new history on the Korean

peninsula, the conservative group is pleading with the outsiders to go ahead

with the north-targeted war drills and is getting desperate in their bid to bring

back the stand-off and danger of war in the past.

Openly citing the release of Park Geun Hye with acquittal and revocation of

impeachment, the group tries to make its dream for power come true, in

defiance of the mindset of candlelight demonstrators.

What the LKP has done are high-profile crimes that deserve severe

punishment; slandering of the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising, insult to the

bereaved families of ferry Sewol disaster victims and bullying acts at the

"National Assembly" sessions, to name just a few.

The conservative group is now going roughshod though it was pushed to a

tight corner, severely punished by history. This situation proves that the group

of traitors, trouble-maker of the nation, has to be thoroughly purged.

Daily increasing zeal for the disbandment of the LKP is a signal of the

second candlelight resistance.

There was a candlelight rally demanding the immediate dissolution of the

group of evils LKP in Kwanghwamun Plaza, Seoul on May 4 with over 2 000

people of different social standings in attendance.

The broad spectrum of south Koreans will lead the on-going movement to

furious mass movement for the annihilation of the conservatives.

The group of conservatives which does people only disservice, looking down

upon them, will surely face a miserable fate of being severely punished by the

enraged people.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Criticizes Some Forces for Making Issue of Its Routine and Self-Defensive Military Drill

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign

Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) gave the following

answer to a question put by KCNA on May 8 with regard to the fact that some

forces are making an issue of the DPRK's recent military drill.

As has already been reported, a strike drill was conducted in the East Sea of

Korea on May 4, the purpose of which was to check the operating ability of

large-caliber long-range multiple rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons,

the accuracy in mission fulfilment and the combat performance of military

equipment of the defense units in the frontline area and on the eastern front

and, on this occasion, to further galvanize the entire army into the movement

for becoming crack shots and make thorough preparations for combat

mobilization at all times.

The drill once again confirmed the rapid reaction capability of those defense

units in the frontline area and on the eastern front that are fully prepared to

go immediately into combat under any orders and at any moment.

Some forces, however, are making spiteful remarks on this routine and selfdefensive

military drill conducted by the DPRK.

There are some countries that have become totally mute so far on the

proactive measures of crucial and strategically decisive nature taken by the

DPRK for peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and on the maximum

patience demonstrated by the DPRK concerning the impasse created in the

course of implementing the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement because of the

absence of due corresponding response to the said measures. These countries

are now impertinently making spiteful remarks on our recent military drill of

regular and self-defensive character.

The recent drill conducted by our army is nothing more than part of the

regular military training, and it has neither targeted anyone nor led to an

aggravation of situation in the region.

Any country carries on military drills for national defense and this kind of

very normal drill is obviously different from the war exercises waged by some

countries against other sovereign states.

In last March and April alone, the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercise

"Dong Maeng (Alliance) 19-1" and joint aerial military drill were conducted in

south Korea, and war drill plans aiming at us continue to be worked out even

at this very moment.

For unknown reasons, however, there is only dead silence on these

provocative military drills and war exercises.

Only our regular and self-defensive military drill is branded as provocative,

and this is an undisguised manifestation of the attempt to press the gradual

disarmament of our state and finally invade us.

We think this is very much unpleasant and regrettable, and we sound a note

of warning.

Those forces would be well-advised that if they attempt to deny our

sovereignty and self-defensive right by making baseless allegations against us

at anyone's instigation, it might produce a result of driving us to the direction

which neither we nor they want to see at all.

We will watch the future words and deeds of those forces.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Kumyagang Power Station No. 2

Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of

Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's

Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK,

gave field guidance to Kumyagang Power Station No. 2 on Saturday.

After being briefed on the circumstances of the construction of the power

station and its situation, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un looked round several

parts of the power station including the dam and a generating room, learning in

detail about the construction, technical equipment and power generation.

It is admirable that Kumya County is set to build power stations by its own

efforts and put the power production on a normal footing in hearty response to

the Party's policy on building minor hydraulic power stations suited to the

specific local conditions and settling the power problem, he said, speaking highly

of the praiseworthy feats performed by the people in the county who created the

treasure of national value in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude.

He said that there are not a few examples in which cities and counties fall

short of getting benefits from minor power stations due to water shortage that

led to failure to ensure capacity generation of electricity even though they were

built at the cost of massive building materials because the construction was not

based on accurate survey of hydraulic resources in the specific areas and on

scientific calculation of the amount of electricity generation.

If Kumyagang Power Station No. 2 installs thousands of kW power generator

as planned and produces electricity at full capacity, it will please the people as it

can fully supply power to residential areas, to say nothing of the industrial

factories and co-op farms in the county, he said, repeatedly praising the

indomitable fighting spirit displayed by the officials and working people of Kumya

County in which they provided an important boon for the wealthy economic life

of the county with strenuous efforts.

Noting that he would feel relieved only when he does something to help the

people in Kumya County who did a big thing without being known to others, he

promised to send generator and transformers without fail, which have not yet

been installed at Kumyagang Power Station No. 2, on his own responsibility.

He gave warm encouragement, hoping that Kumya County would ensure the

good operation of the power station, a great treasure, to make the people

substantially benefit from it and to contribute to the development of county

industry and improvement of the people's living and thus prosper as a beautiful

county good to live in and develop with vitality.

He was accompanied by officials of the Party Central Committee including Kim

Phyong Hae, O Su Yong, Jo Yong Won, Kim Yong Su and Ri Yong Sik.

Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of

Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK,

guided the strike drill of defence units in the forefront area and on the eastern

front which took place in the East Sea of Korea on Saturday.

The purpose of the drill was to estimate and inspect the operating ability and

the accuracy of striking duty performance of large-caliber long-range multiple

rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons by defence units in the frontline

area and on the eastern front and the combat performance of arms and

equipment and to more powerfully arouse the entire army to the movement for

becoming crackshots with the drill as an occasion and thus put it at combat

readiness posture all the time.

At the observation post Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un learned about the

strike plan of the striking means of different calibers and inspected the fire

readiness including the advance to and deployment of large-caliber long-range

multiple rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons in fire positions.

After setting the sequences and methods of strike, the Supreme Leader gave

an order of firing.

Praising the People's Army for its excellent operation of modern large-caliber

long-range multiple rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons, he said that

all the service members are master gunners and they are capable of carrying out

duty to promptly tackle any situation as a result of full knowledge of modern

weapon system and intensive training. He spoke highly of the successful striking

drill though it was organized without an advance notice.

Expressing great satisfaction with the rapid response ability of those defence

units in the frontline area and on the eastern front to keep them fully ready to

go into combat action immediately upon the issuance of order any moment, he

gave important instructions for improving and strengthening the operation and

combat drill of the People's Army.

He stressed the need for all the service members to keep high alert posture

and more dynamically wage the drive to increase the combat ability so as to

defend the political sovereignty and economic self-sustenance of the country and

the gains of revolution and the security of the people from the threats and

invasion by any forces, bearing in mind the iron truth that genuine peace and

security are ensured and guaranteed only by powerful strength.
