Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Observes Test-fire of New-type Tactical Guided Weapon

 

Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, observed the test-fire of a new-type tactical guided weapon.

Accompanying him was Kim Jong Sik, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

 Also watching the test-fire were leading personnel of the DPRK Ministry of National Defence and commanders of the large combined units of the Korean People's Army.

The new-type tactical guided weapon system developed under special attention of the Party Central Committee is of great significance in drastically improving the firepower of the frontline long-range artillery units and enhancing the efficiency in the operation of tactical nukes of the DPRK and diversification of their firepower missions.

The test-fire was carried out successfully.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un highly praised the national defence scientific research sector for registering continuous successes in attaining the core goals of securing the war deterrent set at the 8th Party Congress, and extended warm congratulations on behalf of the Party Central Committee.

National Meeting, Public Procession Mark 110th Birth Anniversary of President Kim Il Sung in DPRK

-- A national meeting and a public procession of Pyongyang City took place with splendor at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang on April 15, the 110th birth anniversary of the President.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the events.

When the respected General Secretary appeared in the tribune of honor of the square amid the playing of the welcome music, all the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" for him along with fireworks let off and balloons released.

He extended warm greeting to all the people celebrating the significant Day of the Sun with high political enthusiasm and proud labor successes, warmly waving back to the loudly cheering crowds.

The tribune of honor were taken by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly , Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet.

Among those at the tribune were senior officials of the Party and the government, directors and first vice-directors of departments of the WPK Central Committee, leading officials of the Cabinet, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, and officials and persons of merit who distinguished themselves in implementing the Party policies.

Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a report "The great Comrade Kim Il Sung's undying revolutionary history will be immortal along with the victorious advance of the cause of Juche".

The reporter recalled the noble revolutionary career of the President run through with the idea of believing in the people as in Heaven, saying that he dedicated himself to protecting the dignity and rights of the people and providing them with happiness, sharing his destiny with the people all his life. Such catchphrases symbolic of great history as "Independence in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliance in defence", "Chollima Korea" and "Path of Juche" were displayed on the square to represent the unshakable faith that only victory and glory are in store for the Korean people who are making a dauntless advance with firm confidence in justice and victory of their cause.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Kumsusan Palace of Sun

 Pyongyang, April 16 (KCNA) -- All the people in the DPRK commemorates the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, whose august name shines in the nation's history spanning 5 000 years, as the great revolutionary event, holding him in high esteem as the eternal sun of socialist Korea. Pyongyang, April 14 (KCNA) -- A distinctive terraced residential district has been built on a scenic bank of the Pothong River in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, amid ceaseless erection of monumental edifices symbolic of the development of civilization of Korean-style socialism under a grandiose plan for national prosperity unfolded at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

The Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District, completed to bring about another dramatic change in Pyongyang, is a proud edifice of the new era that vividly represents the people-first idea of the Party Central Committee regarding it as its long-cherished desire to provide the people with the best material and cultural welfare in the world and its strategy for the development of Juche-oriented architecture.

Looking round the family room and other living rooms in her house, the respected General Secretary listened to the impressions of her family members with fatherly care and took a measure of benevolence so that the aged announcer would not feel any inconvenience while going up and down the stairs in her house.

The veteran announcer told him in excited tones that her house with all amenities is just like a hotel and all members of her family stayed up all night in tears of deep gratitude for the Party's benevolence.

Hearing her words in joy, the General Secretary said it is the sincerity of the Party that there is nothing to spare for the treasures of the country like her who has worked as a revolutionary announcer for the Party for more than 50 years since her girlhood. Deep Attention Always Given to the Development of Friendly Relations with African Countries

 

The Day of the Sun, a holiday common to progressive humankind, draws nearer.

On the occasion of the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, we recollect with deep emotions once again the immortal exploits performed by him in the development of the friendly relations with the African countries as world progressive people are burning their hearts with ardent yearnings and boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung.

In April 1992, 30 years ago, state leaders from several countries in the world paid official goodwill visits to our country to congratulate the 80th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Among them were also Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Guinea and Sierra Leone from a far-off Africa beyond the continent and the ocean.

The goodwill envoys of Africa to our country received warm welcome from the citizens in Pyongyang.

President Kim Il Sung hosted a grand banquet in honor of them and arranged a tour for them around Pyongyang and other local places as well. Though he was very busy, he spared valuable time to personally meet every one of them and gave a clear solution to the issues arising in the independent development of their countries and the building of their national economies while giving support and encouragement to their struggle to build a new society.

Especially, at a meeting with Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea, he accepted with a good grace his request to provide them with assistance necessary for the construction, national defense and other fields, and took benevolent measures to dispatch our experts and technicians in the relevant fields to Equatorial Guinea and to send assistance materials needed.

The history of friendship between Korea and Africa did not start only in the 1990s.

When many African countries including Guinea, Mali and Congo achieved independence from the colonial rule of the imperialists in the 1950s and 1960s, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that our country became the first to establish diplomatic ties with those countries. He also extended full support and encouragement to their struggle to consolidate the independence and build a new society.

Throughout the African continent, there stand historic creations and monumental buildings erected by the hands of the experts and technicians from our country. These include Kim Il Sung Institute of Agricultural Science in Guinea, National Palace of Guinea, Dembe hydroelectric power station, parliamentary building of Central Africa, Victoria solidarity stadium in Seychelles. These become a symbol of the DPRK-Africa friendship.

Indeed, it is endless to talk about the immortal exploits of the President Kim Il Sung accomplished in developing the friendly relations with African countries.

 

Therefore, the African Presidents who visited our country offered their sincerest congratulations   to   President Kim   Il   Sung marking   his 80th birthday when they had met him. They praised with one voice that President Kim Il Sung is an outstanding man who illuminates the road ahead for not only the Korean people, but also the world people, people from developing countries in particular in their struggle for patriotism, independence and autonomy.

President Kim Il Sung conducted energetic external activities for the development of the friendly relations with African countries until the last moment of his great revolutionary lifetime. His immortal exploits will shine more brightly throughout generations and centuries.

We will make active efforts to expand and develop, as required by a new age, the friendly relations with African countries who struggle to reject foreign intervention, achieve national unity, and ensure regional peace and stability.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent educational aid fund and stipends amounting to 251.18 million yen in Japanese currency to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan for democratic national education of the children of Koreans in Japan ahead of the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The educational aid fund and stipends sent by President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un in 168 installments total 49 130 570 390 yen.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) issued the following a press statement on April 11:

At the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held on April 7, a "resolution" calling for the suspension of the rights of membership of the Russian Federation in the United Nations Human Rights Council has been railroaded into adoption.

The adoption of this "resolution" led by the United States and the West is an unreasonable act seeking biased and unilateral political purpose, which is devoid of any scientific grounds or legal validity.

What the U.S. is after with its ulterior intention is crystal clear.

It is to isolate the independent countries and forces challenging them at the international arena so as to maintain its illegal and inhumane US-led hegemonic order.

We have already flatly opposed the adoption of the anti-Russia "resolution" as it constitutes the height of politicization of human rights, selectivity and double-standard.

In fact, the U.S., the world's biggest violator of human rights, has long been disqualified to talk about human rights.

The U.S. return to the UN Human Rights Council has incurred only dire consequences of bringing the UN human rights arena into disrepute and causing troubles across the world, rather than promoting human rights on an international scale.

The adoption of the anti-Russia "resolution" this time corroborated once again that the U.S. has no interest whatsoever in the improvement of genuine human rights, the ease of tension, or in the ensuring of peace, but rather is bent on pursuing its own interests by fomenting confrontation and distrust, and inciting one country against another.

Peace and stability would never settle in the world unless the U.S. stops its high-handedness and arbitrariness of being engrossed in misusing the international organizations.

The international organizations that are obliged to promote equality, unity and cooperation between sovereign states and to realize international justice and peace should never be misused for dishonest political purposes of certain forces.

The United Nations and international organizations should not be abused again as a means of the U.S. to put political pressure on the countries of its dislike and to threaten and blackmail them at its will.

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), released the following press statement on April 4:

So Uk, defense minister of south Korea, on April 1 revealed extreme uneasiness, touting a "preemptive strike" on our army's possible strike means against south Korea.

His abrupt bluffing evidently showed that they are so frightened.

It seems that he wanted to give impression to the public that the south Korean army is well prepared.

But it was an irretrievable very big mistake that he, so-called representative of the south Korean army, talked about "preemptive strike", terming us enemy.

We have already clarified that south Korea is not our principal enemy.

In other words, it means that unless the south Korean army takes any military action against our state, it will not be regarded as a target of our attack.

We oppose war. If the armies of the two sides fight against each other, the entire Korean nation will suffer a disaster as it did half a century ago that might be more terrible, no matter which side will win or lose in a war or combat.

We are definitely against such war. That's why our Marshal clarified that our principal enemy is just war itself.

However, the south Korean army, labeling us as enemy, talked about the possibility of mounting a preemptive strike on us with such a premise as in certain circumstances. Such nonsense itself is a very dangerous and nasty expression.

If anyone does not provoke us, we will never strike it before anything else.

But if south Korea, for any reason - whether or not it is blinded by misjudgment - opts for such military action as "preemptive strike" touted by So Uk, the situation will change.

In that case, south Korea itself will become a target.

Two days ago, we solemnly warned that the south Korean army will face an unimaginably terrible disaster, the worst-ever, if it violates even an inch of our territory.

In case south Korea opts for military confrontation with us, our nuclear combat force will have to inevitably carry out its duty.

It is the primary mission of the nuclear force to prevent such war before anything else, but in case of war, its mission will convert into the one of eliminating the enemy's armed forces at a strike.

One's nuclear combat force is mobilized to take initiative at the outset of war, completely dampen the enemy's war spirits, prevent protracted hostilities and preserve one's own military muscle.

If the situation reaches such phase, a dreadful attack will be launched and the south Korean army will have to face a miserable fate little short of total destruction and ruin.

This is not just a threat.

This is a detailed explanation of our reaction to possible reckless military action by south Korea and its consequences and, at the same time, a briefing on the reason why south Korea should not harbor such fancy as military provocation against a nuclear weapons state.

But there is a way for averting such miserable end.

It will be possible to avoid the above-said horrible disaster, if it refrains from making untimely provocation and dreaming a daydream and ponders over a way for protecting itself from a shower of fire, although it might not happen.

"Preemptive strike" against a nuclear weapons state? … This is a fantastic daydream, and it is hysteria of a lunatic. We make it clear once again.

We will not fire even a single bullet or shell toward south Korea. It is because we do not regard it as match for our armed forces.

This opinion comes not from an obvious contrast with a nuclear weapons state in the light of military capabilities but from the fact that the north and the south of Korea are of the same nation who should not fight against each other.

I pray that such morbid symptom as feeling threat for no ground would be cured as early as possible.

Press Statement of Secretary of WPK Central Committee Pak Jong Chon

 

Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, made public a press statement on Saturday which said:

I open to public this press statement because it is absolutely necessary for our people and army to get to know about the south Korean military's hysteric pursuit for confrontation with the DPRK.

South Korean Minister of Defense So Uk reeled off a string of rhetoric at a ceremony for the reorganization of the "ground missile strategic command" on April 1.

There he bluffed that the south Korean army has lots of missiles with various missions whose firing range, accuracy and power have been dramatically improved. He, citing a sign of missile launch by the DPRK, said that the south Korean army has ability to make precision and preemptive strike at the origin of launch and command and support facilities and has adopted a posture for it.

He vowed to keep developing long-range, ultra-precision, high- performance and diverse ballistic missiles capable of containing the enemy in the future, openly revealing his intent to stoke up the military stand-off with the DPRK, whom he called an enemy.

He must be crazy or silly to speak of "preemptive attack" on the nuclear weapons state.

He is steeped in the mindset of stand-off to the marrows of his bones.

Now the Korean peninsula is technically at war. Any slight misjudgment and ill statement rattling the other party under the present situation where acute military tension persists may become a spark triggering off a dangerous conflict and a full-blown war. This is a fact known by all.

 The provocative rhetoric made by the Defence Minister of south Korea against the DPRK under the present situation clearly shows the anti-DPRK confrontational frenzy of the south Korean military.

As he provoked us, touting a preemptive strike, I will make one short warning representing our army.

If the south Korean army engages in a dangerous military action as a preemptive strike against the DPRK, being guided by misjudgment, our army will mercilessly direct all its military force into destroying major targets in Seoul and the south Korean army.

The south Korean military must not ramp up the tension with its confrontational acts.

We know well that they are shaking in fear and uneasiness but are bluffing and making confrontational rhetoric to relieve its people of worries. It had better not bluff any more.

Monumental Edifice Symbolic of New Turn in Promotion of Korean-style Socialist Civilization Inauguration Ceremony of Songhwa Street Held with Splendor Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Cuts Inaugural Tape

 

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- An ideal street for the people has been erected majestically in Songsin and Songhwa areas of the capital city of Pyongyang to demonstrate the high spirit and remarkable creativity of the Korean people, who are vigorously advancing toward the brighter future of Korean-style socialism under the leadership of the great Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), and to represent the rapid development of the country dashing toward the attainment of a grandiose goal.

Songhwa Street, built in the eastern gateway to Pyongyang under the unique architectural development plan of the Party Central Committee and the plan for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang set forth at the 8th Congress of the Party, is an outcome of the WPK's long-cherished desire to provide the people with more stable and civilized living conditions and successfully resolve the housing shortage of capital citizens. The street is, at the same time, the first entity symbolic of the new era of comprehensive development seething with great creation and changes.

True to the high intention of the Party Central Committee to turn Pyongyang better into the center of disseminating the Juche idea, Juche- oriented culture and Korean-style high civilization and into the great city of the people, the soldiers and civilians involved in the project performed an eye-opening miracle of building the distinctive grand architectural group of 10 000 flats, including an 80-storeyed skyscraper, within a year by waging a strenuous onward campaign, the fierce 24/7 struggle, despite manifold challenges and trials.

Through the construction of the street which opened a new turning point of development in the capital city construction, our people and servicepersons fully demonstrated the validity of the Party's Juche-oriented idea on architectural beauty, the potentiality of the self-supporting economy and the irresistible might of the single-hearted unity of the Party and the masses and vividly showed the true picture of Korean-style socialism vigorously advancing toward the bright future.

An inauguration ceremony of the street was held with splendor on Monday.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the ceremony.

When he arrived at the ceremonial venue, fireworks were set off and the participants broke into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!"

All the participants cheered enthusiastically as a token of their deep reverence for the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who set the people-first principle as the eternal political idea and unshakable political mode of the WPK and has dedicated himself to building an ideal socialist society brimming with the laughter and happiness of the people.

Present at the ceremony were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet.

Also attending it were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, members of the headquarters for the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, officials from Party and power organs in the capital city, soldier- and civilian-builders and Pyongyangites.

The participants also included the working people, students and children who are to live in the new street of the people successfully completed under the leadership of the WPK.

The ceremonial ground was filled with absolute trust and fervent admiration for the Party Central Committee that vigorously leads the people to a new era of creation and miracles, bringing all their dreams and ideals into brilliant fruition.

The national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played. Kim Tok Hun addressed the ceremony.

There are many splendid inauguration ceremonies recorded in our Republic's history of grand construction for promoting the well-being of the people but this event is associated with many touching stories that are really unforgettable and should not be forgotten, the speaker said, adding that the Songhwa area is the monument to the great love which was erected by the strong faith that the things desired and anticipated by the people must be done without fail in any situation.

He expressed belief that the Pyongyangites moving into new houses amid the blessings of the whole country would always remember this eventful moment and dedicate their all to the prosperity of the country.

Fireworks were let off and balloons released and all the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" with deep gratitude to the respected General Secretary who builds a land of bliss for the people with his warm love, repeatedly showing great benevolence for them.

The respected General Secretary warmly waved back to them, wishing them happiness in a new street and new houses.

The ground of the inaugural ceremony was flooded with the great excitement of the capital citizens, who could hardly repress their deep gratitude to the tender-hearted father for his benevolence as warm as sunlight in spring, looking up to him with tears in their eyes.

 The respected General Secretary warmly waved back to the cheering crowds for a long time, sincerely wishing our people a happy and highly civilized life in their modern dwellings.

At the end of the ceremony, Party and government cadres looked around the street.

Seeing the imposing 80-storeyed sky-scraper, an elevated bridge, public catering facilities, they more keenly realized that every moment and day spent for putting great ideas into practice by the respected General Secretary, who continues his journey of devoted service for the people, unhesitatingly going through thick and thin for their sake, have resulted in providing the cornerstone of the country's prosperity and adding glory to the new era of the Workers' Party when the whole country is overflowing with the people's happiness.

Walking along the new street symbolic of high civilization, the blessed citizens unanimously said our Party, state; world and policy are the best, out of their irrepressible gratitude toward the motherly Party which willingly burdens itself for the sake of the people with a heavy duty in the harshest-ever time.

More deeply realizing the immutable truth that victory, glory, happiness and a rosy future are in store for them when they firmly trust and follow the respected General Secretary, they firmly pledged to take the lead in creating new things and making innovations and become the performers of feats in the honorable and proud struggle for the prosperity and development of the country.

Songhwa Street, which has been erected by the noble intention of the WPK that confidently brings earlier a new world and era of a prosperous and powerful nation under the uplifted banner of "The People Are God", the single-minded unity and self-reliance, will shine forever as a monument to the warm love for the people in the great era of Kim Jong Un along with the rosy morrow of the capital city of Pyongyang which will be transformed into a more magnificent city.

Women in the DPRK

 The development of a society is unthinkable separated from the role of women as there is no world without women.

The editor-in-chief of Social Education, a magazine of Belarus, wrote in Women in the Democratic Korea, a book he published in 2017:

I wrote this book to introduce the policy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on women. The reason is that the DPRK has put the issue of women in the state policy and achieved great successes in this regard.

In the DPRK women are said to be in charge of turning one of the two wheels of the revolution.

In the country women participate free from restriction in the state administration including elections to power organs and have the right to elect and to be elected irrespective of their occupation, property status and education.

Many of them including labour innovators are elected to the Supreme People’s Assembly and other levels of power organs and have their say in discussions on state affairs.

Special importance is given to talented women and women officials; the ratio of women who hold important positions in various fields and units including state economic institutions and establishments of science, education, public health and culture is increasing remarkably.

There are many examples of the state and social benefits for women.

The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital is a comprehensive medical service base for women, which provides them free of charge with all the medical assistance necessary for delivery and the treatment of their diseases.

When they go back home with their healthy babies, they are pleased to have been cured of the diseases which they themselves are not aware they have.

The state gives gold rings or silver daggers to triplets and their parents as gifts.

The Breast Tumor Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital inaugurated ten years ago specializes in treatment of women’s diseases including breast cancer with its cutting-edge equipment and expensive medicines. Its treatment is also free.

The DPRK provides women with the right to work and special treatment.

Those with several children work for less hours for the same pay as others and are provided with relevant monthly allowances and dwelling houses preferentially. Women are never allowed to do labour-consuming and unhealthy jobs.

Women are granted maternity leave in addition to regular holidays and provided with relevant allowances before and after delivery. Even the title of Hero is awarded to the woman who has many children.

As there are nurseries, kindergartens, children’s hospitals and other necessary facilities, women have little inconvenience in their work. Children are brought up at the state expense and this is regarded as something natural and normal.

Under public attention, children grow up at nurseries and kindergartens built in all the towns, rural communities, factories and villages.

If you visit the country, you will see lively images of women and facilities for them wherever you go, and this will give you a better understanding of the policy of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea and the state for the sake of women.

The director of a medical research institute of Myanmar wrote in his note of impression as follows: The Western propaganda on the DPRK is fraught with contradictions and falsities; my visit to the country corrected my understanding of it; the DPRK I saw was the country free of terrorist attack and unstable elements like violence against women.

The DPRK Seen through Souvenir Photographs

 Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, enjoys having photographs taken with the people. On the morning of New Year’s Day in 2022, he had a photograph session with ordinary working people including meritorious people and labour innovators, who had contributed to making 2021 a successful year.

According to the country’s media, Jo Mun Son, a 57-year-old worker of the turbine workshop of the Pyongyang Thermal Power Station, has been working on the same job for several decades. Kim Jong Un had a photograph taken with him holding his callused hand in his.

And a workteam leader of the Tonam Cooperative Farm in Yonan County, South Hwanghae Province, a major granary on the western coast, is known as a farmer who worked hard all year round to get a high yield in the face of the unfavourable weather conditions last year. At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in late December 2021, Kim Jong Un sent thanks in the name of the Party Central Committee to the exemplary officials, working people, scientists and technicians in the agricultural sector. Then he called some farmers, including the workteam leader, to his place and had a souvenir photograph taken with them.

Worthy of note about the photographs is the flower decoration in the form of flower basket on both sides and various other parts of the venue. The decoration can be interpreted as warm congratulations of Kim Jong Un to them. After the photograph session they gathered around Kim Jong Un and had amiable talks with him.

Photographs he has taken with people are numerous and all of them are indicative of the kinship between the leader and his people.

Kim Jong Un does not mind a place at all when having a photograph taken with people, be it a production site, or a small garden before a house or a room in a house. When they have the honour of having a photograph taken with him, all people vie with one another to get a closer place to him and hold his hand. It reflects the kinship feelings between the leader and the people.

In September 2021, Kim Jong Un invited to the office building of the WPK Central Committee some labour innovators and other meritorious people participating in the celebrations of the 73^rd founding anniversary of the DPRK. Among those invited were young pupils. They were ordinary workers’ sons and daughters who were exemplars in the studies and the organizational life of the Children’s Union.

He summoned them to his side and praised them for their merits. Then he highly appreciated the efforts of their parents to bring up their children as the pillars of the country. And he posed for a photograph with the children as well as the labour innovators and other meritorious people–all together. This reminded the viewers of a single family.

What is the reason behind such a scene? The following can be an explanation.

When the northern part of North Hamgyong Province was severely affected by flooding in 2016, Kim Jong Un took all necessary measures for building new houses for the victims, saying that they had to be provided with new houses before the winter came even if it meant having to enlist all the potentials of the country to do so. In October 2020, he went to the rehabilitation project site of the flooded Komdok area at the risk of his life by crossing a makeshift railway bridge. One day he calculated on his handbook the amount of fish needed to be supplied to all the orphans and old people in rest homes across the country and proposed building an exclusive fishing station for the purpose.

At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held months ago, Kim Jong Un took important measures for providing all the students across the country with high-quality school uniforms and school bags of a new style at the state expense. As he regards the people and children as his family members, he could make such a momentous decision despite the difficult conditions of the country.

It is natural that the Korean people should regard him as their father and try to get closer to him when they meet him.
