Death Knell Tolled on U.S. Independence Day

 

People often think a holiday as an occasion when their hearts are swelling with joy, happiness and hope for the future. Independence Day, in particular, is recognized as the day of celebration when fireworks are set off as usual.

However, on the U.S. Independence Day this year, what rang out was the report of the gun killing people, not the fireworks, bringing only misery and despair to the hearts of the people.

On July 4th, in Chicago, Illinois, a white man sprayed the American citizens, who were making demonstration parade on Independence Day, with 70-odd bullets, killing 7 people and injuring 30-odd people. Because of this incident, festive mood was soon turned into mourning atmosphere.

The governor of Illinois deplored this incident this way. He said he was greatly shocked to find that the greatest festival in the U.S. was turned into a complete fiasco thanks to the “infectious disease” peculiar to the U.S. He also said that Independence Day is an annual event, but large-scale gun- related crime has become a traditional ceremony since it is being held every week.

It is said that as many as 300 large-scale shooting incidents have occurred in the U.S. so far this year and tens of gun-related crimes were committed on Independence Day alone.

Its root cause lies in the decadent feature of the American society.

Fierce partisan fight, a mountain of national debt which is snowballing, skyrocketing prices, series of gun-related crimes, hatred towards ethnic minorities and ensuing social division-these are all true features of the U.S.

According to the recent public opinion poll in the U.S., 90% of the respondents said that the U.S. is going in the wrong direction. This serves as a living witness to the fact that the U.S. is fully responsible for the present situation.

The gun report rang out on Independence Day is the death knell for the U.S.

Will to Achieve Substantial Progress Reaffirmed

 

In early June, an enlarged meeting of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, amid the interest and expectation of the international community.

According to the country’s mass media, the meeting made a mid-term review of the implementation of the major policies of the WPK and the state for 2022, set the work orientation and policies of struggle for the second half of the year, and discussed and adopted practical measures for giving a strong and correct impetus to the projects of national importance.

Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, made a concluding speech at the meeting.

He first referred to the successes achieved in the aspects of the political activities and management of the state, the country’s development and crisis response and management over the past six months, and clarified the tasks for thoroughly implementing the economic policies of the Party and the state for the second half of the year.

He specified the work orientation and practical measures to be taken by the key industrial sectors including the metal, chemical, electric power and coal industries in the second half of the year.

He set farming and consumer goods production as the most pressing economic tasks for this year.

The meeting referred to practical ways for powerfully accelerating the implementation of the WPK’s agricultural policy. Among them were the issue of making the Party’s new policy of agricultural revolution prove effective from the first year of its enforcement by successfully concluding the farming of wheat and barley that were planted as earlier crops, the issue of directing all efforts to making full preparations for protecting crops from natural disasters as much as possible, the issue of putting manure and cultivation of crops on a higher scientific basis, the issue of increasing the proportion of the farm work done by machines and the issue of intensifying scientific guidance over and state support for farming.

It also stressed the need for light industry to launch a dynamic campaign for production and increased production with the demands of the people in their life as the yardstick.

Kim Jong Un said that the construction sector should complete without fail the important construction projects slated for this year one after another to demonstrate the mettle of the Korean-style socialism to the world.

He pointed to the issue of making agricultural workers realize in practice the validity and vitality of the programme of the WPK for socialist rural construction by making sure that the Cabinet, provinces, cities and counties carry out without fail the first year’s task for rural housing construction which was launched on a full scale this year, the issue of concentrating national efforts on rapidly developing science by holding science and technology as the lifeline of economic development and the issue of resolutely innovating economic management.

Kim Jong Un placed a special emphasis on having a proper viewpoint on education at present.

Saying that education is not an undertaking whose results are immediately visible but a long-term one and that correct efforts for it are a springboard to future development, he called for further intensified guidance and assistance to the nationwide improvement in education, including the Party and policy-oriented guidance on the educational work and technical guidance on educational contents.

He stressed the need to continue to direct great efforts to strengthening the national defence capability.

Saying that the right to self-defence is an issue of defending the national sovereignty, he clarified once again the WPK’s fighting principle of power for power and head-on contest in defending the national sovereignty. And he set forth the militant tasks to be pushed forward forcefully by the armed forces and national defence research sector of the DPRK.

The General Secretary noted: We should open up a new phase of vigorous national development by taking the current harsh and difficult period unprecedented in history as an opportunity for getting stronger and more tested and displaying firm will and spirit of persevering exertion, and do our best to ensure that all the undertakings for this year are correctly executed at the scheduled development speed.

Through the meeting, the WPK showed its will to reverse the current severe situation to a good opportunity for bolstering the country’s own strength, its internal driving force, and make substantial progress in the year 2022, an important stage in implementing the five-year plan of development and transformation.

President Kim Il Sung and Chinsonnyo Moran

 

President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) met about 70 000 foreigners and kept close relationship with many of them in his lifetime.

Among them is Chinsonnyo Moran, a daughter of a diplomat of Indonesia.

 

A Wish Has Come True

In April 1965 Indonesia was engrossed in excitement as Premier Kim Il Sung of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea whom the world people admired as a legendary hero was visiting the country.

Among the Indonesian officials who received him at that time was the then charge d’ affaires ad interim of the Indonesian embassy in the DPRK.

His fellow people’s praise of Kim Il Sung left a deep impression on him.

After his return to Pyongyang his wife gave birth to a daughter.

He hoped the DPRK leader would name his daughter.

Having learned about his wish, Kim Il Sung named his daughter Chinsonnyo Moran and sent him an autographic note, reading, “I recommend Chinsonnyo Moran.”

 

“President Kim Il Sung Is My Eternal Real Father.”

After naming her, President Kim Il Sung bestowed warm love upon her. As she grew up, her longing to see him grew more intense.

In February 1983 she wrote a letter to Kim Il Sung.

Very pleased to read her letter and see her photos, he recalled her father with deep emotion. Then he sent a reply and gifts to her and her family.

In September that year she visited the DPRK with her mother thanks to the measure taken by President Kim Il Sung.

Though he was very busy meeting many foreign delegations that were on a visit to the DPRK to attend the celebrations of the 35th founding anniversary of the DPRK (September 9, 1948), he managed to spare time for them.

When he met them the President explained the meaning of her name, saying: Chinsonnyo means friendship between the two countries and Moran, a beautiful peony flower; there is a hill named Moran which was named so because the chain of its peaks looks like a just blown peony blossom.

To Moran who expressed her gratitude Kim Il Sung said: In the future, too, we will exchange letters and stay in intimate and good terms; next time you come to my country with your father we will have a talk in a family atmosphere.

That day he had a photo taken with them and gave them his presents.

Moran said, “Today is the happiest day in my life. I think there will not be another day like this even if I live 100 more years. President Kim Il Sung, great benevolent leader, is my eternal real father.”

Seven years later, on hearing that Moran was going to be married, Kim Il Sung sent her his wedding gifts including a folding screen and material for her clothes.

 

Kim Jong Un Formulates a Policy on Building Up the State’s Anti-Epidemic Capabilities

 

Recently, an enlarged meeting of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, in the presence of General Secretary       Kim Jong Un.

The meeting discussed an important agenda item of powerfully pushing forward with building up the state’s anti-epidemic capabilities.

The General Secretary clarified the strategic and tactical plans for finally defusing the malignant epidemic crisis, restoring stability and vigorously promoting the building-up of the state’s anti-epidemic capabilities, its capacity to cope with crisis.

Now the state’s anti-epidemic work has entered the new stage of both blockade and eradication of the epidemic from the blockade-focused prevention after the unexpected serious crisis caused by the spread of the virulent virus.

In a report to the enlarged meeting the General Secretary said that, under the current situation in the state’s anti-epidemic work, the urgent task facing the Party and state is to immediately remedy the shortcomings and deviations revealed in the work and to take decisive steps for building up the country’s anti-epidemic capabilities.

He said that only when the anti-epidemic policy of the Party and state is enforced in a strict, scientific and advanced way, can it prove successful, stressing the need to steadily improve the anti-epidemic system and methods.

Our anti-epidemic work is based on the people’s voluntary unity in action, not on any institutional mechanism or material and technical means, he said, adding that great victory in this work can be won only through an all-people resistance, by their joint efforts.

On May 12 the state’s epidemic prevention system was switched to the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system; since then, the Korean people have turned out as one in implementing the ruling WPK’s and the government’s measures for rigorous blockade and anti-epidemic work.

In the report Kim Jong Un clarified in detail the tasks for overcoming the immediate epidemic crisis: The Party organizations at all levels should conduct a vigorous ideological work for arousing all the people to the anti-epidemic war and guide the emergency anti-epidemic work in a responsible manner; all the Party cells should find on their own initiative the work to be done in the current anti-epidemic situation and ensure that Party members fulfill their duties and responsibilities with the same thought and action; officials should always lead Party members and all other broad sections of the people in the van of the anti-epidemic front, learn in detail about and grasp the enforcement of the emergency anti-epidemic system on the spot and take timely steps.

Underlining the need to vigorously promote the building-up of the state’s anti-epidemic capabilities, he said that the capabilities to be built by us is an ensemble of a consolidated work system and order, technical forces, material foundations and potentials capable of containing, controlling and defusing any possible health crisis, which the country might face, on its own initiative and in a stable way.

He reviewed and analyzed the invaluable experience gained and lessons drawn in the course of ensuring the preventive security of the country for over two years by enforcing our own style of epidemic prevention policy and of running the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system. He noted that all the emergency anti-epidemic policies and guidelines and the measures and policies pursued so far by the Party and the government serves as a great asset for building up the state’s anti-epidemic capabilities.

He set forth the immediate goal, long-term goal and detailed ways for firmly consolidating the material and technical foundations for bolstering up the state’s anti-epidemic capabilities.

Noting that the current anti-epidemic war is an occasion for gaining priceless experience and stratagems for creditably defending the security of the country and the people in any future health crisis, he called for bringing about an unprecedented miracle in restoring the stability in the anti-epidemic work by further intensifying the Party work, economic organization and public healthcare to give the fullest play to the organizing ability of our united society and the advantages of the socialist public health system.

He ardently called for firmly protecting the health and safety of the dear people by organizing and launching the emergency anti-epidemic work scrupulously, flexibly and substantially with confidence and courage and powerfully accelerating the building-up of the country’s capabilities for coping with any epidemic disease and crisis.

Exploits Shining in the History of the Victorious War

 

In the Korean war (1950-1953), which was in effect a confrontation between a rifle and an atomic bomb, the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and soldiers of the Korean People’s Army won victory by defeating the aggressors, who were boasting numerical and technological superiority, by dint of political and ideological, strategic and tactical superiority.

The victory was an outcome of the brilliant leadership of President Kim Il Sung, who brought up the Korean people and the Korean People’s Army soldiers to be heroes.

During the war he proposed conducting an aircraft-hunting movement to deal heavy blows to the US imperialists who were bragging about their aerial supremacy.

Later a proposal was put forward to award the title of hero to those who had shot down three enemy aircraft in a month.

At that time a conservative law specialist opposed the proposal, claiming that there were not many heroes in other countries, and that if those who had shot down three enemy aircraft in a month were awarded the title, there would be too many heroes in the country.

Kim Il Sung said: What is wrong to have many heroes in the country? 1 000 heroes mean 3 000 enemy aircraft shot down, and 2 000 heroes mean 6 000 enemy aircraft shot down; it would be a political, military and financial blow at the US imperialists; I hope that all the service personnel and people will become heroes by fighting against the US imperialists bravely.

It was a way of calculation of Kim Il Sung that the more the heroes are, the faster the revolution progresses, and the law of direct proportion acts on the relations between the number of heroes and the interests of the revolution.

Once when he met model combatants, he told them that on their return to the front they should not only fight more bravely but also make the soldiers of their units heroes and model combatants.

According to data, more than 600 soldiers became heroes during the Korean war. Of them, 5 were twice heroes, 13 women heroes, and 20 labour heroes including 2 women heroes.

There are scores of teenage heroes like 18-year-old Ri Su Bok who blocked enemy gun muzzle with his chest to make a breakthrough for his unit.

I am a young man of liberated Korea.

My life is valuable.

My hope for the brilliant tomorrow is also valuable.

But my life, my hope and my happiness are not more valuable

Than the destiny of the motherland.

What would be a more valuable life, more beautiful hope and greater happiness

Than to sacrifice my youth, the one and only life, for the one and only motherland?

 

There were more than 420 heroes in their twenties like Ko Hyon Bin who hoisted the DPRK flag on the rooftop of the Capitol Building of the puppet regime, and more than one hundred in their thirties and forties; and many members of the youth league became heroes.

Standing at the vanguard of the ranks of heroes were more than ten soldiers like Kim Kun Ok who recorded a miracle in the naval fight by sinking an enemy heavy cruiser and destroying a light cruiser with four torpedo boats, and Kim Ki Ok who shot down the enemy’s latest-type aircraft F-80.

In the battles to defend Wolmi Island with four guns to check a large-scale landing operation of the US 50 000 soldiers, hundreds of vessels, 1 000 aircraft and even the soldiers of the old Japanese army, the heroic soldiers of the coastal artillery unit of the KPA deterred the enemy attacks for three days, thereby contributing to implementing the strategic intention of the Supreme Headquarters.

The heroes from the services, arms and corps of the Korean People’s Army, who dedicated their youth and life during the war number more than 500 in all.

Heroes were also produced from Party and government organs, social and state security and prosecutors’ organs, rail transport sector, people’s guerrilla units, factories, enterprises and countryside.

The exploits of the heroes are handed down to posterity along with V-day, July 27.

DPRK Soon Recovers Peace and Stability

 

After the malicious novel coronavirus had infiltrated its territory, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea promptly imposed nationwide blockade, and soon peace and stability gradually set in with the epidemic situation controlled in a stable manner. What made such a quick recovery possible?

The major factor is that the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea has assumed direct responsibility for the anti-epidemic war.

On May 12, the Eighth Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth WPK Central Committee was convened. At the meeting Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, had the Political Bureau adopt a decision on switching the state epidemic prevention system to the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system.

Then he had a series of measures taken to promptly contain and manage the epidemic situation and to firmly hold the strategic initiative in the anti-epidemic campaign. He presided over the consultative meetings of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee on May 14 and 15. A meeting of the Presidium of the Political Bureau was called on May 17, and consultative meetings of the Political Bureau were held on May 21 and 29 under his guidance.

Within the 18 days after the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system had been put in place, he guided six major meetings to cope with the crisis, an unprecedented fact in the history of the WPK, which clearly shows how prompt and timely his measures were for the lives and safety of the people.

Kim Jong Un personally visited the sites of anti-epidemic work in spite of high risk to acquaint himself with the situation and take relevant measures, and had the household medicines from his family sent to those experiencing difficulties. It would also be written on a new page of the world history of anti-epidemic work.

He visited the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters to acquaint himself with the national epidemic situation and had measures taken to implement immediately and thoroughly the items of the decision of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee so as to take up the winning position in the campaign proactively and definitely.

On May 15, shortly after the consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Un visited some pharmacies in the capital city of Pyongyang. It was not long after the shop assistants recovered from the disease. Despite personal risk, he approached them and familiarized himself in detail with how medicines were supplied and stored, whether the pharmacies were open round the clock, what kinds of medicines were in highest demand and how much they cost. He also asked them to tell him what they thought the best treatment method was and how they would consult those with fever. Then he saw to it that officials put to rights the faults in the medicine supply system and take powerful measures with regard to the transport of medicines.

The DPRK’s recovery of stability through the anti-epidemic campaign can also be attributable to the state’s unified guidance, all the people’s voluntary unity to keep pace with it and their displays of tenderness and human feeling.

Since the enforcement of the nationwide blockade, the Korean people have been proactive and responsible in implementing the government’s measures including disinfection and closure.

According to the special order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, nearly 3 000 medics of the Korean People’s Army were deployed in hundreds of pharmacies in Pyongyang to conduct transport and supply of medicines. They did not merely wait for the people to come to the pharmacies but visited the families in their charge to provide necessary medicines and actively engage in medical treatment, instilling in them confidence and courage. According to the data, tens of millions of medicines of over 90 kinds were supplied in Pyongyang and other provinces in a single day of May 24, and in early June the number increased to more than 360 million of over 430 kinds.

Throughout the country nearly 500 rapid mobile anti-epidemic groups and rapid diagnosis and treatment groups conducted confirmative diagnosis, transport and treatment of the cases and other anti-epidemic work. More than a million of medical workers and teachers and students of the medical education institutions and hygiene activists were mobilized for treatment, examination and disinfection.

The tenderness and human feeling of helping and leading one another forward can be said to be a major characteristic of the current anti-epidemic campaign in the DPRK. Many people donated spare medicines, money and grains to help the families in hardship. Some young pupils sent pharmacies medicine envelopes they made with their own hands.

Thousands of people who retired from the public health sector and even other ones volunteered to take part in the medical service. The volunteers also participated in the work for stabilizing the people’s living. Nearly 10 000 mobile service groups were organized across the country, and over 160 carts of vegetables, foodstuffs and daily necessities were deployed in each district of Pyongyang alone.

According to mass media of the DPRK, the daily occurrence of cases with fever continued to drop by 6.1 per cent on average from May 15, a few days after the blockade was imposed (May 12), and as of 18:00 hours, June 9, 4 265 860 (98.068 per cent of the total cases with fever) fully recovered and 83 980 (1.93 per cent) are under treatment.

DPRK and Ten Years of Development of Its National Defence Capabilities

 

Today the world is in turmoil. But there is a land free from the world war, dispute and refugee. That is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, has developed his country into a socialist power that no one can belittle.

Over the past ten years, he has fully displayed his outstanding leadership abilities.

We should continue to grow stronger; we must not be satisfied or rest on our laurels concerning the strength we have built up for defending ourselves; we must make our military supremacy more secure so that we can stand up to anyone–this is his intention.

He has developed the Korean People’s Army into an army strong in ideology and morality.

He gives precedence to developing the army into the one that is firmly equipped with the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and achieves victory with the spiritual and moral strength. Whenever he visits the army units, he first looks round the rooms dedicated to education by means of revolutionary relics and rooms for education of soldiers, leading the service personnel to glorify the military ideas and army building exploits of the preceding leaders.

He has accelerated the work of developing the military technology of the KPA.

He ensures that efforts are directed to training a larger number of officers capable of skillfully commanding units of the arms and services at all levels, and that the level of modernization of combat training by the units is raised, so that all the units and sub-units can fully perform any combat missions.

Clarifying that the key to this end is in improving the quality of training, he has stoked the flames of intensive training across the army.

He has personally guided the strike drills of the services and arms of the KPA to cultivate the strategic and tactical qualification of their commanding officers and develop their capabilities for commanding operations. Thanks to his guidance, a dramatic change has been brought about in the forms, contents and methods of training in the KPA. Amid the brisk movement to become crack shots, a movement launched by him, the service personnel are prepared as masters of modern warfare and elite soldiers who are highly capable of fighting a real combat.

Kim Jong Un has paid close concern to developing the military hardware and other material means of the KPA.

His country has had to overcome harshest-ever difficulties and pressure in the current century, but he has led his country to possess all the absolute weapons, a monopoly of nuclear powers only in several years and then make a leap forward to develop and manufacture unknown weaponry of the Juche type.

He does not know the word impossible; but the world steady advance and leap forward make sense with him. This is a fact recognized by the international community.

Under his guidance, the sectors of national defence science and munitions industry of the DPRK have achieved world-startling successes in developing state-of-the-art military hardware of new generations.

The country succeeded in the test-fires of a new-type tactical guided missile and newly-developed long-range cruise missile, anti-aircraft missile and new-type SLBM in succession last year and succeeded in the test-fires of hypersonic missile and new-type ICBM Hwasongpho-17 this year.

The military parade, held in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army in Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, on April 25 this year, vividly showed the war deterrent possessed by the DPRK.

Cornerstone for Korea’s Reunification

 President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea devoted his all to the cause of national reunification. As early as fifty years ago, he illuminated the cornerstone for national reunification–the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity, which the north and south of Korea solemnly proclaimed at home and abroad in their July 4 Joint Statement in 1972.

When he met the representative of south Korea who was on a visit to Pyongyang for north-south high-level political talks in May 1972, Kim Il Sung explained to him the main principles to be adhered to in the effort for national reunification.

As part of its efforts to realize its ambition for gaining world supremacy after the Second World War, the United States tried to dominate the Korean peninsula which is located in a geopolitically favourable position. In the long run, the Korean peninsula was divided into two by the foreign forces. After occupying south Korea, the US obstructed in every possible way the struggle of the Korean people for the reunification of their country. This historical background clearly showed that the Korean people could achieve national reunification only when they opposed the domination and interference by the US, the mastermind behind Korea’s division and biggest obstacle to its reunification, and safeguarded the principle of national independence.

Achieving the national reunification in a peaceful way is a unanimous desire of the Korean nation and a fundamental method of reunification. On the Korean peninsula where enormous armed forces of two sides face each other, an accidental confrontation may lead to an all-out war. Moreover, another Korean war that may become a thermonuclear war may result in the extinction of the nation and destruction of the world peace and security.

Although the country has been divided for several decades, the commonness as a homogeneous nation, which had been formed and consolidated over a long period of history of 5 000 years, is incomparably larger than the difference of the systems and ideologies caused by the division. If the whole nation achieves unity, gearing and subordinating everything to national reunification, they can solve any problem.

Based on these principles, Kim Il Sung ensured that the north-south joint statement whose essence is the three principles of national reunification was made public on July 4, 1972. The joint statement won the full support and approval of the entire Korean nation and broad international community and became the cornerstone for Korea’s reunification.

In 2000, a historic north-south summit meeting was held for the first time in the history of Korea’s division and the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was adopted with the principle of By Our Nation Itself as its basic spirit. The core of the declaration was, as the phrase indicates, the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity.

In 2018, summit meetings were held again, and April 27 Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration were adopted, opening up a new phase noteworthy in the Korean people’s struggle for national reunification. The three principles for national reunification remained as an unshakable cornerstone also in these declarations.

The history clearly shows that the three principles for national reunification put forward by President Kim Il Sung are the most reasonable and realistic fundamental principles and way for Korea’s reunification.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Kumsusan Palace of Sun

 Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, together with the participants in the Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the WPK, visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the occasion of the greatest memorial day of the nation.

Accompanying him were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

 

The sacred temple of Juche was overflowing with ardent yearning and boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung and

Chairman Kim Jong Il, the great leaders who pioneered and added luster to the glorious history of the ever-victorious WPK.

Pyongyang, July 7 (KCNA) -- The Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was held at the April 25 House of Culture on July 2-6.

The WPK Central Committee organized the special workshop to more definitely propel the strengthening of the whole Party and socialist construction by squarely impressing the officials in the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees with the importance of their Party responsibility in further strengthening the Party as required by the new phase, in which the revolution develops and our Party's overall guidance is further deepened, and with the tasks and ways for improving the Party life guidance at present.

 

The special workshop, the first of its kind in the history of the WPK, is of important and practical significance in establishing the Party Central Committee's monolithic leadership system more thoroughly across the Party and society, realizing the organizational and ideological consolidation of the Party ranks in every way and markedly enhancing the leadership function and role of the Party.

When he took the platform of the workshop venue, all the participants broke into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!", looking up to him who has led the Juche revolution only to victory while strengthening the WPK into an invincible revolutionary party with ever-victorious leadership.

Attending the workshop were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Jong Kyong Thaek, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army (KPA), vice-directors of the Organizational Leadership Department of the Party Central Committee and officials concerned of the provincial, city and county Party committees and other Party committees performing the same function and the political departments at all levels of the KPA.

There took place a two-day meeting and a three-day technical course to comprehensively review the work of the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees at all levels and improve the Party life organization and guidance in a revolutionary way by decisively enhancing the political and practical qualifications and ability of Party officials.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un declared the opening of the Special Workshop for Officials in the Party Life Guidance Sections of Organizational Departments of Party Committees at All Levels of the WPK and made an important conclusion illuminating the unique idea and theory on building the Party organizations at a new historic stage of our revolution.

The General Secretary said that today when our revolution has entered an important stage of laying a foundation for the overall development of socialist construction while squarely overcoming trials and challenges in all fields, whether we translate the fighting programme set forth at the 8th Party Congress into brilliant reality or not depends on the fighting efficiency, activity and leadership art of the Party organizations in relevant regions and units. Party life, the main function of the Party organizational departments, is important in enhancing the role of the Party organizations, he added.

He noted that the Party life guidance is the basis of the Party activities and the system of guiding the Party life of officials and Party members through the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees at all levels is the main guidance line of the Party Central Committee for mobilizing the whole Party and enhancing the Party's leadership and fighting efficiency.

Saying that the Party life guidance sections of the Party organizational departments can be said to play the role of blood vessel and nerve gland firmly linking the Party organizations with the Party Central Committee as an organism, he stressed that the strengthening of the basic organizations and the unity of the whole Party by and large depend on the role of the Party life guidance sections since the Party Central Committee's revolutionary policies on the Party organizations' activities and the Party members' life are conveyed and assigned to the Party organizations through the Party life guidance sections and the results of overall activities of the Party organizations at all levels are concentrated on the Party Central Committee through the Party life guidance sections.

Noting that our Party has powerfully guided socialist construction while further cementing the political position and displaying its fighting efficiency despite manifold harsh trials and challenges, he said it would have been unthinkable without the activities of the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees at all levels. He added it is none other than the Party life guidance sections that are responsible for grasping and propelling the execution of such important tasks assigned to the Party organizations as the tasks of applying the people-first principle, the main political idea of our Party, in the overall Party work, establishing a revolutionary Party climate of unconditional and devoted service to the people, making city and county Party organizations the powerful staffs steering their regional development, bringing about a revolutionary turn in cadres          affairs,          transforming          the     Party  ranks  into          elites  and     further strengthening the primary Party committees, the main combat units in implementation of the Party policies, as well as turning the Party cells into healthy and viable ones closely knitted in the bonds of kinship.

Noting that it can be said that the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of the Party are the main axis of implementing the idea and policies on Party building set forth by the Party Central Committee as regards the eternal guidelines for the Party and the revolution, he added that this is the definition of the position and duty of the Party life guidance sections in Party building and activities.

 

Saying that the more the revolution advances, the more the responsible mission and important role of the Party life guidance sections are highlighted in ensuring the Party Central Committee's guidance over the Party organizations, making our Party an integral organization with firm base and enlisting the masses in the implementation of the Party's policies, he stressed that it is the demand and principle kept in building our Party that its organizational departments should always take the lead in the work for strengthening the Party and the officials in the Party life guidance sections should be a standard-bearer in doing so.

He said it is the important work directly linked with the future-oriented development of the Party that the officials in the Party life guidance sections, who are the main force in enhancing the functions and roles of Party committees at all levels and improving the political and practical qualifications of party officials and are at the position of organizing and guiding the Party life of its members, are well versed in the method and the principle of Party work peculiar to our Party and possess high political and practical abilities and qualities as befits a genuine Party official. From this viewpoint, the Party Central Committee places great importance on the current special workshop and urges the officials in the Party life guidance sections to surely fulfill their leading, core and vanguard role in further enhancing the Party's fighting efficiency and guide and help the Party organizations and officials firmly preserve the revolutionary Party spirit and effectively implement the Party policies and thus make the good feature of the Party be always maintained, he stressed.

Referring to the purport of convening the current workshop with special care in the wake of several conferences and inter-section workshops held as part of the work for improving the Party work method of Party departments and sections in recent years, he said that to enhance the working ability of the officials in the Party life guidance sections is surely an essential and revolutionary process in the course of strengthening our Party into a promising, revolutionary and socialist ruling party with high fighting efficiency, adding that herein lies the significance of the special workshop.

Analyzing in detail the actual conditions in which the work done by the Party life guidance sections of the organizational departments of the Party committees doesn't meet the demand and intention of the Party Central Committee and their causes, he stressed that it is the purpose of the Party Central Committee which organizes the special workshop and the most important and core issue to be solved urgently in the development of our Party to rearm the officials in the Party life guidance sections in order to make the sections fulfill their duty, function and role in steadily

In his conclusion, he clarified the basic duty of the officials in the Party life guidance sections and major four-point principles and six-point tasks to be maintained in the Party life organization and guidance.

He specially stressed that all the Party organizations should regard it as the main iron rule of Party life guidance to establish the discipline absolutely obeying the monolithic leadership of the Party Central Committee.

He said that the Party life guidance should be oriented to making sure that practical achievements are made in implementing the Party's policies, including the decisions of the Party Congress and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee, and directed to thoroughly establishing the revolutionary Party life trait among officials and Party members, building up the Party ranks and consolidating the mass foundation of the Party.

He called for activating proper guidance and assistance to strengthen the ranks of cadres, thoroughly improve the working method and style of officials and decisively raise their political and practical abilities.

He said that the officials in the Party life guidance sections should be exemplary in further strengthening the Party organizational work, steadily improving the working method and cultivating pure fighting traits and style, and become genuine revolutionaries and true communists fully embodying our Party's revolutionary traits and commanding art.

Stressing again the importance of the responsibility and duty of the officials in the Party life guidance sections which is to reliably defend the banner of Juche and stubbornly guide the Party organizations and popular masses to the successful execution of our Party's action programme, the General Secretary said that the fighting efficiency of the Party life guidance sections is precisely that of the organizational departments and our Party.

Expressing the great belief that the participants in the workshop would fully play their core role in accomplishing the sacred cause of our Party, he ardently appealed all of them to more energetically and resolutely struggle for the fighting efficiency of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea, the great Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Party, and for the strengthening and development of the great people's Party, rallied close as one in mind and purpose around the Party Central Committee.

At the workshop, Jo Yong Won, Presidium member of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, made a report on the review of the work of the Party life guidance sections of organizational departments of Party committees at all levels and then there were speeches.

The report referred to the immortal feats of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who provided more powerful ideo-theoretical and methodological weapons for the strengthening of the whole Party through his tireless Party-building ideo-theoretical activities.

The reporter stressed that it is a fundamental guarantee for the strengthening of the Party and the victorious advance of socialist construction to establish in the whole Party and society a steel-like organizational discipline moving as one under the unified leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un, thoroughly arm with his revolutionary idea and implement his unique Party-building idea and political ideology in the new era perfectly, correctly and comprehensively.

At the workshop, the past work of relevant units and officials was estimated anatomically in positive and negative aspects. And emphasized was the issue for the officials in the Party life guidance sections to decisively enhance their political and practical level and work ability and fulfill their crucial responsibility and duty in the van of the struggle for strengthening the Party organizations.

Carefully listening to the lectures and watching video clips on the methods of operating and guiding a party meeting, the participants acquired the principle of the Juche-based party work and the knack of how to conduct party work.

The participants deeply grasped the ideas and theories of the Party Central Committee on the Party organizational construction, exchanging and sharing the multi-side opinions on the issues arising in the practice of the Party work with the speakers. They also actively cultivated their political and practical qualifications and ability, acquiring the methods for bringing about a decisive turn in the Party life organization and guidance one by one.

Through the technical course, the participants hardened their determination and readiness to bring a new improvement in the Party life organization and guidance over the officials and Party members as intended by the Party Central Committee, realizing once again their heavy responsibilities and duties in adhering to and augmenting the political leadership ability of the Party.

The technical course successfully proceeded amid the high political awareness and enthusiasm of all its participants to consolidate the foundation for the strengthening and unity of the entire Party by keeping in mind the precious teachings of the respected General Secretary as an absolute truth and decisively renovating the work of the Party life guidance sections and to vigorously step up the implementation of the Party policies with strong organizing and executive ability.
