KIM IL SUNG, ETERNAL PRESIDENT OF THE DPRK

The Korean people hold Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) as the eternal President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Kim Il Sung is the founding father of socialist Korea, which is now being recognized by the international community as being powerful in politico-ideological, military, and scientific and technological aspects. In the period of the armed struggle to liberate the country from the Japanese military occupation (1905-1945), the he advanced an original line of building a people’s government and established people’s revolutionary governments of a new type in guerrilla bases.
The experiences and exploits accumulated in this period served as valuable foundations for the establishment of a people’s government and its activities after Korea’s liberation (August 15, 1945). In such works as On Building the Party, State and Armed Forces in the Liberated Homeland, On the Progressive Democracy and On the Building of New Korea and the National United Front, which he published soon after the country’s liberation, he put forward an original political line, the line of founding a democratic people’s republic to meet the character and task of the Korean revolution and the desire of the Korean people.
On September 9, 1948, the founding of the DPRK, the first democratic state for people in the East, was proclaimed, an event signifying that the Korean people, who had been forced into a tragic fate of a stateless nation for decades, became dignified citizens of an independent, sovereign state.  Kim Il Sung set independence, self-sufficiency and self-defense as the fundamental principles in the building of an independent, sovereign state, and adhered to them in the whole course of leading the Republic. He maintained an independent approach to all the issues arising in state building, leading the Korean revolution under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea.
He adopted the type of a government, the line of building a state and the politics for democratic reforms in the Korean style, and carried out the socialist revolution with a creative stand as suited to the aspiration and demand of the Korean people and the actual conditions of the country.
Advancing the line of building an independent national economy, he ensured that all sectors of the national economy including industry and agricultural relied on domestic labor and technology, and that industrial bases for national defense were built up and their production lines updated to turn out any modern military hardware. He established a people-centered socialist system on the land of Korea, where people are masters of everything and everything serves them, and provided them with all social and political conditions for fully exercising their rights as masters of the state.
He set it as the basic principle for the activities of the ruling party and the government to serve the people, and had their desires and will embodied fully in state policies. Forever will shine the achievements of Kim Il Sung who built a genuine country for people and the people-centered socialist system by dint of his original idea of state building and seasoned and sophisticated leadership.

KIM JONG UN INSPECTS CONSTRUCTION SITE OF APARTMENT HOUSES FOR SCIENTISTS
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited the construction site of apartment houses for scientists. The houses now under construction in the suburbs of Pyongyang City in a peculiar style are gifts to be presented by him to scientists. Modern multi-storied houses for 1 000 families, public buildings and various welfare and service facilities are now under construction in this area.

Going round the construction site, he acquainted himself in detail with the progress made in the construction. Feasting his eyes with satisfaction on the houses that have sprung up in the field like mushrooms, he said that the houses look very nice, adding that their splendid appearances prompt one to go inside them. He praised the soldier-builders for successfully constructing them as required by their designs.
To keep pace with the arrangement of environment is important in construction, he noted, underscoring the need to pay attention to land leveling, plant trees and create greenbelt, at the same time, in a planned manner so as to wind up the project, leaving no traces of construction.

After learning about the progress made in the construction of school, kindergarten, hospital and other public buildings and welfare and service facilities, he called for focusing efforts on the structures nearing completion and pushing ahead with the project as scheduled. Watching the park under construction in the area, he said that people and school youth and children like to visit the rebuilt parks in Pyongyang. He called for building the park into a fashionable one so that the residential district for scientists may become a model in housing construction. He went round the houses where there are flats for two families on one floor.

He once again highly appreciated the feats performed by the soldier-builders, saying that the houses were well designed and built at a high level. It is a great success that such modern houses have been built in such a brief span of time, he noted, adding: It is necessary to surpass the construction speed in the 1970s and that is the "Masikryong Speed" called for by the WPK.

After being told that the soldier-builders are pushing forward the project as scheduled, though they take charge of the most difficult area, he said he is pleased to assign a task to the KPA. Whenever there arises a difficult task, he is used to assign the task to the army, he added. Primary attention should be paid to ensuring quality in the construction of apartment houses for scientists, he said, calling for completing the project in a perfect manner and providing them to scientists so that they may be fully satisfied with them, leaving nothing inconvenient.

This is a year of scientists who demonstrated before the whole world the dignity and national power of the country with signal scientific and technological achievements, he said, stressing that there is nothing to spare for them who proved in practice the justice of the WPK's policy of attaching importance to science and technology.

He instructed the WPK Central Committee and the Cabinet to dispatch responsible officials to the spot to learn about the progress made in the construction and review daily, weekly and monthly fulfillment of quotas and take measures to ensure that no job is delayed. Saying he would frequently visit the construction site to learn about the progress made in the construction, he noted the houses can be provided to the scientists only when their construction meets the requirements of the standard set by him. He gave an instruction to successfully complete the construction of the houses to be proud of in the world by the Day of Songun when leader Kim Jong Il started his Songun revolutionary leadership.

He was accompanied by Choe Hwi, Pak Thae Song, Hwang Pyong So, Hong Yong Chil, Ma Won Chun, Yun Tong Hyon, Pak Jong Chon and Ju To Hyon.
