KIM JONG UN MEETS WOMEN SOCCER PLAYERS




Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, met the women soccer players who won the 2013 East Asian Cup.
    Present at the meeting were Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Kyong Hui, Kang Sok Ju, Ri Yong Su, Ri Yong Gil, Pak Thae Song, Hwang Pyong So, Kim Pyong Ho, Kim Yong Hun, Ma Won Chun, Kim Yong Chol, O Kum Chol, Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Ri Ju Bong, chief secretary of the party committee of the ministry, and Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.
    Kim Jong Un shook hands with the players and Chief Coach Kim Kwang Min one by one, warmly congratulating them on the success they made at the 2013 East Asian Cup, exalting the honor of Songun Korea.
    He highly praised the distinguished successes made by Kim Un Ju, winner of the prize of best player, Ho Un Byol, winner of the prize of top scorer, and Chief Coach Kim Kwang Min, who led the team to victory.
    The women soccer players of the DPRK fully displayed the Juche-oriented methods of playing and their high techniques, persevering spirit and teamwork, he said, repeatedly appreciating their feats.
    By winning the cup on the day, the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War, they added joy and jubilation to the servicepersons and people of the country significantly celebrating July 27 and instilled into them confidence of sure victory and optimism, he said. To emerge a winner and let the flag of the DPRK fly in international football games has great appeal and influence stronger than thousands of words in arousing all the service personnel and people to feats in their work.
    "As our country has a tradition in women's soccer and it has a good chance of success, it is important to channel big efforts and direct deep attention to further developing the female soccer so as to produce many soccer stars like Ri Kum Suk, who earned fame in international games," he added.
    He once again highly appreciated their successes before presenting gifts to them.

INTERNATIONAL KIM JONG IL PRIZE TO BE AWARDED TO EQUATORIAL GUINEAN PRESIDENT
    Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The International Kim Jong Il Prize Council on July 25 decided to award the prize to Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, in recognition of his special contribution to the justice and development of the world, human dignity and equality and peace, friendship and unity among countries. -0-

KIM JONG UN WATCHES MEN'S SOCCER MATCH

    Among the spectators were Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Kyong Hui, Kang Sok Ju, Ri Yong Su, Ri Yong Gil, Pak Thae Song, Hwang Pyong So, Kim Pyong Ho, Kim Yong Hun, Ma Won Chun, Kim Yong Chol, O Kum Chol, Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Ri Ju Bong, chief secretary of the party committee of the ministry and Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.
    The Hwaebul Team took the initiative from the beginning of the match and intensified the attack.
    When the team went over to a surprise counterattack from defense, forward Kim Yong Gwang scored the first goal in the 27th minute of the first half.
    The April 25 Team made all-out attack, not loosing confidence. It finally managed to score equalizer with back Ji Kwang Hyok making a precise shot amid a mess in the goal area.
    The Hwaebul Team trounced its rival by scoring two more goals in the eleven meter penalty kick.
    Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction over the nice match and congratulated them on their success in the match.
    He praised the Hwaebul Team belonging to the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League for its good job. He personally went down to the field and had a photo taken with the team.
    He said that the young people should take the lead in raising hot sports wind, too, as the country will be alive when the youth league goes dynamic.
    Stressing the great importance of soccer in exalting the honor of the country, he said it is necessary to round off the soccer techniques, tactics and training methods of Korean style and put them on a higher scientific basis in order to develop soccer.
    He said that what is important for developing soccer is to find out more reserves for players, underscoring the need to build a well-regulated training system, push ahead with the training tenaciously and frequently organize matches among schools at all levels in particular.
    He also underlined the need to increase public concern and state assistance for soccer, calling on officials to pay deep attention to it.
    He expressed his belief that the sportspersons would perform their duty and mission for bringing sports events including soccer to the world level as they instill confidence and optimism about sure victory into the army and people. -0-

KIM JONG UN ENJOYS ARCHERY GAMES

    Among the spectators were Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Kyong Hui, Kang Sok Ju, Ri Yong Su, Ri Yong Gil, Pak Thae Song, Hwang Pyong So, Kim Pyong Ho, Kim Yong Hun, Ma Won Chun, Kim Yong Chol, O Kum Chol, Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Ri Ju Bong, chief secretary of the party committee of the ministry, and Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.
    Kim Jong Un watched women's team, mixed team and women's individual events.
    Kim Jong Un praised archers whenever arrows hit the bull's eye.
    The archers of the April 25 Defense Sports Team won the games.
    He praised the archers of the April 25 Defense Sports Team for proving successful at archery. Mental power of the players is important for winning world championship in the archery as is the case with other sports events, he said, stressing the need to motivate the mental power of players so that they may play matches to exalt the honor of the country.
    He said great efforts should be directed to archery as it is quite possible for the DPRK's archers to win international games including Olympics.
    He underscored the need to round off archery techniques of Korean style and scientific training methods and fully ensure training conditions.
    He told officials to pay deep attention to archery and take measures to provide best bows, arrows and other apparatuses to the archers. -0-
