PYONGYANG MASS RALLY AND PUBLIC PROCESSION TAKE PLACE

A Pyongyang mass rally and public procession took place at Kim Il Sung Square with splendor on Tuesday in celebration of the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

The moment Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, appeared at the tribune of honour at the square, the cheers of "hurrah!" rocked heaven and earth, rubber balloons flew into the sky above the square and fireworks were displayed.

He acknowledged the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.

He was presented with bouquets by members of the Korean Children's Union.

Taking the tribune of honour were Kim Yong Nam, Hwang Pyong So, Pak Pong Ju and other senior party, state and army officials, officials of the Party Central Committee, chairpersons of the provincial party committees and commanding officers of the Korean People's Army.

Present there on invitation were Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, Yun Jong Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chondoist Chongu Party, Jo Il Min, chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, Pu Yong Uk, head of the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan, Cha Sang Bo, head of the congratulatory group of the General Association of Koreans in China, the participants in the Seventh Congress of the WPK, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, those who performed labour feats in the 70-day campaign, the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan and the congratulatory group of the General Association of Koreans in China for celebrating the Seventh Congress of the WPK, overseas Koreans, foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations and members of the military attaches corps here and foreign guests.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made a speech.

Noting that the Seventh Congress of the WPK was a political event to be specially recorded in the history of the WPK and the DPRK, he said that the congress elected Kim Jong Un as chairman of the WPK, reflecting the unanimous will and desire of the whole party, the entire army and all the people.

He stressed that Kim Jong Un's election as chairman of the WPK was an expression of the intense loyalty and absolute trust of the army and people of the DPRK in him and a great revolutionary event guaranteeing the far-sighted plan of the party and the revolution, the country and the nation.

He extended the greatest glory and warmest congratulations to Kim Jong Un upon his election as chairman of the WPK, reflecting the unanimous feelings of all party members, service personnel and people across the country.

Upon authorization of Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, Kim Yong Nam extended on behalf of the Party Central Committee the warmest thanks to all party members, service personnel and people for having concluded the 70-day campaign of loyalty with victory and glorified the Party Congress as a great revolutionary jubilee.

He pointed out that Kim Jong Un in his report made at the congress laid down the strategic line and set forth overall tasks for completing the cause of socialism of Juche under the uplifted banner of modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

He underlined the need for all party members, officials and other people to turn out in the struggle to carry out the decision made by the 7th Congress of the WPK with the same vim and vigour as they displayed in the 70-day campaign of loyalty.

Then, this was followed the public procession of hundreds of thousands of working people in Pyongyang.

The columns of the public procession passed the square brimming over with all service personnel and people's great emotion and joy of having elected Kim Jong Un chairman of the WPK at its Seventh Congress.

All the participants extended the greatest glory and warmest thanks to him who glorified the Seventh Congress of the WPK as the grand political festival to be specially recorded in the party history.

Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering participants of the public procession and masses.

Letters reading "Kim Il Sung", "Kim Jong Il", "Kim Jong Un", "Devotedly Defending Leader", "Single-minded Unity", "Seventh Congress" and other letters and the flags of the WPK and the DPRK were depicted on the square.

The military band performed at the end of the public procession, making formations to depict the emblem of the WPK and letters "Victory" while playing "Ode to General Kim Jong Un".

At the end of the public procession, the crowd again broke into cheers of "hurrah!" and fireworks were displayed and many rubber balloons flown.

Kim Jong Un warmly acknowledged the enthusiastically cheering masses at the platform of the tribune of honour.
