KIM JONG UN VISITS PYONGYANG INT'L FOOTBALL SCHOOL, RUNGNA PEOPLE'S SPORTS PARK
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, went round Pyongyang International Football School and the Rungna People's Sports Park.
He first went to the newly built Pyongyang International Football School.
Making the round of classroom, bedroom, bathhouse, dining hall and other places of the school, he learned in detail about its construction, management and operation.
There is nothing to spare for reserve footballers who will be trained at this school to display the honor of the country at international games in the future, he said, underlining the need to do supply service well.
After acquainting himself with the cooling and heating of the school building, he noted that effective use of geothermal energy will help decrease electricity consumption and provide students with better living conditions.
He instructed the school officials to steadily improve the education contents and methods and properly manage and operate the school as required by the changing situation and thus bring up more promising reserve footballers.
He then toured the newly built Rungna People's Sports Park.
Making the round of different places of the park, he learned about its construction and plan for its management and operation.
He underscored the need to take good care of sports facilities and equipment that were set up in the park and properly organize public services.
A restaurant should be built well so that it may be used by the people as the park is a place where they have a rest, he said.
At the place for borrowing sports apparatuses he examined roller skates to be used by schoolchildren and people. He said that in order to develop mass sports and sports technique, it is necessary to meticulously approach the work of fully providing necessary apparatuses.
Learning about greenery in the park, he told officials to arrange surrounding environment well by planting trees of good species.
He also went round the office, conference room and other places of the remodeled building of the Secretariat of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Committee, giving precious teachings on developing the country's sports.
He said that the committee should establish public atmosphere for sports, put sports science and technology on a world level and ensure better material supply for the training of reserve players and development of the sports field.
He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Ri Yong Su and Pak Chun Hong.

He went round the room dedicated to the history of the factory.
After watching a video on the technological updating of the factory, he said this factory helps compare the present with the past and picture what would be in the future to oneself, adding it is the factory where the line of the three revolutions, ideological, technical and cultural, has been implemented.
The first leg of his guidance was the nursery of the factory.
Going round playing apparatuses, turf in the compound of the nursery and its sun room, kitchen, dining room, intelligence games room, breastfeeding room, education room and other places, he said that they have been arranged well to suit the upbringing of children and their minds.

Seeing varieties of goods produced at the production processes based on latest technology, he said overall production processes have been highly automated.
He praised the factory for having realized the modernization of production and packing processes in cooperation with universities including Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology.
What is important in technological updating is to step up modernization with our own efforts and technology, he said, calling for giving full play to the creative ingenuity of scientists, technicians and workers and raising the rate of the locally produced equipment.
He examined soy, soybean paste, seasoning, table oil, vitamin E, lecithin and other goods produced at the factory.

CPRK SPOKESMAN SLAMS S. KOREAN AUTHORITIES FOR MAKING NORTH-SOUTH TALKS ABORTIVE
Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) issued a statement Thursday as the talks between the authorities of the north and the south proved abortive due to the south Korean puppet authorities' arrogant obstructions and deliberate disturbance even though they were scheduled to be held amid expectation and concern of the public at home and abroad.
The delegation of the north side was about to leave Pyongyang when it was informed by the south side that its vice-minister of Unification, not the minister of Unification, would be the chief delegate of the south side to the talks, the statement said, and went on:
The south side insisted on the ministerial-level talks from the beginning and confirmed more than once its intention to send the minister of Unification. But right before the start of the talks, it downgraded the level of the chief delegate. This is the height of discourtesy and disrespect unprecedented in the history of the north-south dialogue.
It, referring to the head of the delegation of the north side, made such coarse words as "figure hardly recognizable", "abnormal practice" and "incongruity of common sense and international standard".
This provocation barred the talks from being opened and our delegation was compelled to cancel its trip to Seoul.
The south side demanded the director of the United Front Department head the delegation as he is counterpart of the minister of Unification of the south side, a revelation of its ignorance of the social system in the DPRK.
Never has there been such a precedent in which a secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea officially took part in the talks between the authorities in the decades-long history of the north-south dialogue.
As for the agenda of the talks, the south side tried hard not to specify the joint commemoration of the anniversaries of the June 15 joint declaration and the July 4 joint statement and NGOs' visits and contacts and cooperation even though it said that it affirmatively accepted the special statement issued by the CPRK spokesman on June 6. It even tried to make the draft agreement ambiguous by deleting such expressions as "normalization" and "resumption" regarding the Kaesong Industrial Zone and tour of Mt. Kumgang resort.
It was due to such vicious obstructions and deliberate disruption of the south side that the working contact lasted 16 hours and barely came to an end after three o'clock in the following morning even though an agreement could be reached in just one or two hours. So, the agreed document failed to take the form of full agreement but the form of incomplete press release.
This fully proves that the south side had no intent to hold dialogue from the beginning and that it only sought to create an obstacle to the talks, delay and torpedo them after reluctantly taking part in the talks, far from solving issues at the negotiating table.
In the past we sent the first vice director of the Secretariat of the CPRK in the capacity of the Cabinet chief councilor as the head of the north-south ministerial talks and the vice director of the CPRK Secretariat always dealt with the vice-minister of Unification of south Korea.
This time we let the director of the CPRK Secretariat head our delegation instead of the first vice director in consideration of the face of the authorities of the south side.
Nevertheless, the south side claimed that the head of our delegation is not on a par with the head of its delegation. This is a revelation of its ignorance. This cannot be construed otherwise than a deliberate act to make the talks abortive.
The problem raised this time is not a simple issue related to the level of the head of the delegation to the talks but a manifestation of its sinister intention to make the talks between authorities abortive as it found it hard to realize its scenario for abusing the talks for the purpose of confrontation as intended by it
The recent impolite and immoral provocative behavior of the puppet group made us think once again whether it will be possible either to properly discuss matters or improve the inter-Korean relations even if the talks between authorities are opened in the future.
The puppet conservative group would be seriously mistaken if it calculates it can gain something by advocating "confrontation accompanied by dialogue" dating back to the outdated "yusin" era or sticking to "the theory of adhering to principle" touted by traitor Lee Myung Bak and it is, therefore, fated to meet the same miserable end as that of its predecessors.
We have nothing to expect from the talks between authorities of the north and the south. -0-

He had a photo session with the employees of the museum.
He toured the Changgol Revolutionary Site.
The revolutionary site is of great importance along with the history of the Workers' Party of Korea, he said, calling for preserving it on a permanent basis to educate party members and other people, soldiers and school youth and children in the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by Kim Il Sung in leading the Fatherland Liberation War to victory and his noble personality.
He proposed a task for creating art pieces depicting Kim Il Sung working at the revolutionary site.
He went round the Changsong County Cultural Hall and enjoyed a performance given by the art group of the county.
He highly praised the members of the art group for giving a successful performance with great cognitional and instructive value by truthfully representing their life.
He had a picture taken with them.

He learned in detail about the performance of the optical measuring instruments being produced by the factory.
It further improved the performance of the instruments than last year and ensured their safety, he said, adding that in order to make the instruments produced at the factory prove effective in reality, it is necessary to further raise their precision.
The inquiry into the performance of the instruments today proved that it is quite possible to succeed if endeavors are made, based on scientific researches and technological updating, he noted.
He looked round the assembling shop to acquaint himself with production there and quality of products.
He said that the optical measuring instruments being produced at the factory require high technology, stressing that in order to keep the production going at a high rate and improve their quality it is necessary to give full play to the mental power of the producers, intensify scientific researches and steadily raise the level of technical skills of the workers.
He underlined the need to focus efforts on the independent technological development capable of surpassing the world level, put the production processes on a modern and automatic basis and wage a more dynamic drive to raise the rate of locally available equipment and materials.

KIM JONG UN TOURS YUPHYONG REVOLUTIONARY SITE
Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, looked round the Yuphyong Revolutionary Site.
It was in this historic place that President Kim Il Sung instilled the faith of sure victory into commanding officers and soldiers of the KPA and learned in detail about the war-time farming of the peasants of the village.
Kim Jong Un stopped before the monument to the revolutionary activities of the President and read the words written on it one by one. Then he paid attention to the house of a peasant where the President stayed.
He said that the President visited the house in the grimmest period of the Fatherland Liberation War, adding that the day the President spent there was an unforgettable day to go down in the history of the WPK.
After meeting commanding officers of the KPA that day, the President sent the soldiers guarding the Supreme Command to the front, thinking of the victory in the war more than his own safety, he noted.
He underscored the need to tell the visitors at length what instructions the President gave as regards the war and what duty the unit stationed there was assigned by him while staying there.
Recalling that leader Kim Jong Il told the story about the revolutionary site, Kim Jong Un underlined the need for the field for preserving revolutionary relics to unearth and ascertain the materials on the President's revolutionary activities in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War in a deep-going manner.
He entered the house of the peasant and watched with deep emotion the desk, telephone, dinner-table, etc. preserved with good care.
He said that Kim Il Sung set forth the outstanding idea and war method to bring a fundamental change in the war at the simple rural house without an operation table, not a good office, and a house with low roof in the northern mountainous area.
He underlined the need for the new generation to deeply grasp how Kim Il Sung created a historic miracle by leading the war to victory at any place.
There are many historic sites and relics such as the Yuphyong Revolutionary Site in very part of the country, he said, adding these historic sites and relics are eternal assets and precious heritages of the Korean revolution which cannot barter with anything.
To significantly celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War is aimed to demonstrate before the world how the army and people of the DPRK won victory in the fight against the imperialist allied forces and honorably defended the freedom and independence of the country in any spirit, holding anyone as their leader, not merely greet the day of victory in the war, he said, adding so he visited the Yuphyong Revolutionary Site.
He said that videos would be made well and shown following the course of the Supreme Command and fine art works portraying Kim Il Sung working there would be created to instill the feats he performed in winning victory in the war and the spirit of the 1950s in the hearts of the service personnel, people and school youth and children and give them the conviction of certain victory and courage.
Praising again the employees of the Yuphyong Revolutionary Site for clearly managing the revolutionary site and conducting the educational work well through it though they are in a mountainous area, he took a picture taken with them.
He called for always remembering and glorifying forever the shining victory in the Fatherland Liberation War won by Kim Il Sung while pulling through the thorny road of rigorous tests and the spirit of the 1950s displayed by the army and people of the DPRK under his leadership.
He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, Choe Hwi, Pak Thae Song and Hong Yong Chil.

The machines are high in their performance and look nice, he said, appreciating feats performed by officials, workers, scientists and technicians of the plant in building modern machines of Korean style.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the plant.
He underscored the need to produce more updated machines which are suited to the actual conditions of the country, favored by the users and prove highly effective in practice.

DPRK PROPOSES OFFICIAL TALKS WITH U.S.
Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK issued the following crucial statement on Sunday:
The present U.S. administration is now asserting that the development of the situation depends on the DPRK, urging the DPRK to show the will for denuclearization first and stop "provocation" and "threats" in order to defuse tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. is misleading the public opinion and deceiving the world, trying to give impression that the DPRK is to blame for the tensions that have so far mounted on the peninsula.
The present south Korean authorities that have been accustomed to sycophancy and submission and the forces following the U.S. are dancing to its tune.
In this regard the NDC of the DPRK clarifies the following crucial stand upon authorization:
We state to the world once again that it is none other than the U.S. which has steadily strained the situation on the Korean Peninsula century after century and decade after decade.
It was the U.S. which provoked the war of aggression on the Korean Peninsula in the 1950s and it is again the U.S. which has systematically scrapped the Korean Armistice Agreement for the past six decades after the end of the war.
Entering into the first decade of the new century, the U.S. has persistently tried to ignite a war against the DPRK again.
From December last year, the U.S. has pulled up the DPRK, describing its legitimate and just satellite launch as a long-range missile launch and its military measures for self-defence to cope with the U.S. open aggression moves as sort of "provocation". This fully discloses its nature as the worst provoker and aggressor.
The gangster-like resolution on "sanctions" which the U.S. masterminded and all the hostile acts that have been intensified following the adoption of the resolution were an intolerable and serious provocation against the army and people of the DPRK.
There is a limit to patience. The U.S. should no longer cling to acts of misleading the public opinion and deceiving the world while vociferating about the non-existent "provocation" and "threats".
It will be a foolish calculation for the U.S. to think that its arbitrary practices reminding one of a thief crying "stop the thief" will work on the bright world today.
We state to the world once again that the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is an invariable will and resolve of the army and people of the DPRK.
The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was behests of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and a policy task which the party, state, army and people of the DPRK have to carry out without fail.
The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula does not only mean "dismantling the nuclear weapons of the north". It is the complete one that calls for denuclearizing the whole peninsula including south Korea and aims at totally ending the U.S. nuclear threats to the DPRK.
As for the possession of nuclear weapons by the DPRK, it is the strategic option taken by the DPRK for self-defence to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
The legitimate status of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state will go on and on without vacillation whether others recognize it or not until the whole Korean Peninsula is denuclearized and the nuclear threats from outside are put to a final end.
Therefore, the U.S. should stop nuclear threats and blackmail and all forms of provocations including "sanctions" against the DPRK, before urging it to show first its sincerity regarding the will for denuclearization to open the phase for dialogue.
We propose senior-level talks between the authorities of the DPRK and the U.S. to defuse tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure peace and security in the region.
If the U.S. has true intent on defusing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensuring peace and security in the U.S. mainland and the region, it should not raise precondition for dialogue and contact.
The talks can have broad and in-depth discussions on defusing military tensions, replacing the armistice system with peace mechanism and other issues of mutual concern including the building of a "world without nuclear weapons" proposed by the U.S.
The U.S. can set the venue and date of the talks to its convenience.
Consistent is the stand of the DPRK to defuse tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure peace and security of the region.
If the U.S. truly wants to realize a "world without nuclear weapons" and bring detente, it should positively respond to the DPRK's bold decision and good intention, not missing the opportunity.
All the future developments entirely depend on the responsible option of the U.S., which has strained the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Jong Il’s Achievements in Party Building

Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) started work at the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of
Korea on June 19, 1964. For about half a century of leading the WPK, he performed outstanding
feats in Party building.
What is the greatest is that he developed the WPK into a solid integral whole in ideology and
achieved the unity and cohesion in it.
He made sure that the WPK was strengthened and developed, only guided by the Juche idea
created by President Kim Il Sung, founding father of socialist Korea.
The modelling of the whole Party on the Juche idea he put forward in the 1970s marked a
historic event of important significance in strengthening and developing the WPK into the
Juche-type revolutionary party. He made public in March 1982 the classic work On the Juche
Idea, thus comprehensively systematizing the Juche idea and enriching it into the great guiding
ideology for the cause of independence. This also served as another momentum in carrying out
the building and activities of the WPK as required by the Juche idea.
Kim Jong Il developed and enriched the Juche idea without interruption in keeping with the
demand of the times and the developing revolution.
After the demise of Kim Il Sung in July 1994, he held fast to the Juche idea as the guiding
ideology of the Party and thoroughly implemented it. And he developed the Songun idea and line
that rooted in the Juche idea as required by the times, thus formulating a powerful political mode
of socialism, Songun politics, unprecedented in the world.
He constantly put it forward as an important demand of Party building to achieve the unity
and cohesion of the Party.
He ensured that all the Party members were fully armed with the Juche idea and the Party
policies, its embodiment, and never tolerated the heterogeneous ideological trends that were
detrimental to the unity and cohesion of the Party. That’s how the WPK came to achieve the
unity in ideology and purpose and in moral obligation, based on one idea and around one centre,
and display to the fullest its ever-victorious might as the guiding force of the Korean society.
He also saw to it that the WPK stipulated in its rules that the WPK is the eternal party of
Comrade Kim Il Sung and would carry forward the tradition of the unity and cohesion through
generations. It was wholly attributable to the unity and cohesion, the strongest weapon, that the
WPK emerged victorious in the struggle to defend socialism and brought about a radical phase of
building a thriving country in spite of the grim situation created toward the end of the last
century.
That the WPK has developed as a genuine motherly party that serves the people constitutes
another outstanding exploit Kim Jong Il performed in Party building.
He regarded it as the WPK’s aim and mission that it works and exists for realizing the
independence of the masses of the people and it should not only unite them around itself but take
responsible care of them in order to realize their demand for independence and interests. He set it
as an important principle in the Party work method that the Party work is precisely the work with
man and all Party officials should go among the people to lend their ears to them and solve the
problems in their life in time.
He ensured that even a line and a policy were formulated to mirror the people’s will and
intention and never to infringe upon their interests.
Under his leadership the WPK continued to put into effect the universal free medical care and
free compulsory education systems at the end of the last century, too, when Korea was
undergoing the worst hardship and difficulties amid the concentrated anti-socialist offensives of
the imperialists.
The line of building a thriving nation is, in the final analysis, aimed at making people lead a
happy life with nothing to envy in the world by radically improving the people’s standard of
living. To solve the people’s food problem, the coal gasification is introduced into large fertilizer
complexes. Modern fruit farms such as the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm with an area of
over 1 000 hectares are built throughout the country, and the fruit processing and foodstuff
factories constructed on a high standard are paying off handsomely. The pig, poultry and fish
farms and solar-heat energy greenhouses are being mushroomed, enriching the people’s dietary
life. Introduction of the cutting-edge technology into the vinalon production lines based on the
domestic raw materials is bringing about changes in fibre and other chemical goods production.
Kim Jong Il paid a special attention to the WPK’s efforts to make the people lead a plentiful
and civilized life to their heart’s content. He continued to give field guidance at the Kaeson
Youth Park, Hana Music Information Centre, Kwangbok Area Supermarket and other places
even in the last days of his life.
Apartment houses in the Masudae area, a dolphinarium, an outdoor ice rink and a health
complex of the latest style are now under construction in Pyongyang. They are the gifts the WPK
presents to the people on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, as
wished by Kim Jong Il.
Though Kim Jong Il passed away, the WPK venerated him as its eternal General Secretary.
His exploits made in Party building will shine forever along with the ever-victorious WPK.

CPRK Special Statement Proposes Talks between Authorities of North, South

Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) released the following special statement Thursday:
It is 13 years since the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration.
All the Koreans still remember the June 15 era when the spirit for national reunification ran high all over the country and are ardently wishing for the earlier improvement of the north-south relations and opening of a new phase for reunification.
The publication of the joint declaration was a special event for the Korean nation in making steps toward ending the history of division and confrontation forced by outsiders and opening up a new era for independent reunification.
Signal events that were presented on this land after the advent of the June 15 era proved that there is nothing impossible for the Koreans to do and that they can achieve the common prosperity of the nation and reunify the country for sure if they pool their efforts.
But the advance of the June 15 era has been held back and the last legacy of the era has been placed at the peril of destruction due to the serious challenge by anti-reunification forces at home and abroad. This is truly deplorable.
South Korean businessmen are now strongly calling for the normalization of the operation in the Kaesong Industrial Zone (KIZ) and the resumption of tour of Mt. Kumgang. Families and their relatives separated in the north and the south are also craving reunion with their kinsfolk in their lifetime.
Whoever are Koreans can never shun this tragic situation of today.
We have so far made every possible effort to improve the north-south ties now at a deadlock, resume tour of Mt. Kumgang, normalize the operation in the KIZ and settle humanitarian issues.
But all the sincerity and magnanimity shown by the DPRK have been denied and defiled with such sophism as "sincerity", "contradiction among southerners" and "evasion of talks between authorities".
We have never sought to create "contradiction among southerners".
We have neither treated the south side's authorities lightly nor approached it the way of making a fun of it as claimed by the south Korean authorities.
It is none other than the south Korean authorities who are abusing north-south dialogue for the purpose of escalating confrontation in a bid to meet their strategic aims
However, we have no idea of idling away time with useless word-playing and exchange of rhetoric.
If the north and the south insist on their own assertions, it will never be possible to find a way of solving pending issues between the two sides. This will further increase despair of south Korean businessmen and other people and disappointment of all fellow countrymen.
In view of the prevailing situation, the desire of all fellow countrymen and the ardent request of south Korean businessmen and other people, the CPRK clarifies the following crucial stand upon the authorization:
We propose holding talks between authorities of the north and the south for the normalization of the operation in the KIZ and the resumption of tour of Mt. Kumgang on the occasion of the anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.
Such humanitarian issues as the reunion of separated families and their relatives can be discussed at the talks, if necessary.
The venue of the talks and the date for their opening can be set to the convenience of the south side.
We propose promptly realizing visits to the KIZ and the Special Zone for International Tour of Mt. Kumgang by south Korean businessmen and working contacts and promoting visits, contacts and cooperation among NGOs of the north and the south.
We have already approved the visits to the KIZ by businessmen and will allow the visits to the areas of the north side by south Korean businessmen concerned with the tour of Mt. Kumgang.
We also flung open the door to visits, contacts and cooperation among NGOs of south Korea.
We propose realizing joint national events to mark the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration and jointly commemorating the 41st anniversary of the July 4 joint statement in the presence of the authorities of both sides.
The commemoration of the June 15 joint declaration and the July 4 joint statement in the presence of the authorities together with NGOs of both sides will be significant and contribute to improving the north-south ties.
As soon as the south Korean authorities respond to our proposal with a view to ensuring talks between the authorities of the north and the south, visits to the KIZ and Mt. Kumgang by south Korean businessmen and joint national events and smoothly settling pending issues between the north and the south, all the relevant measures concerning communications and liaison will be taken including the issue of reopening the Panmunjom Red Cross liaison channel.
Consistent is our stand to promote national reconciliation and unity and achieve reunification, peace and prosperity.
If the south Korean authorities truly stand for building confidence and improving the north-south relations, they should not miss this opportunity but positively respond to our bold decision and sincere proposal, away from misguided speculation and suspicion. -0-

A large fruit-producing base covering a vast area of nearly 10 ris, including Puphyong, Songpuk, Ryongjiwon and Cholryong, in Kosan region is now under construction as required by the new century.
After being briefed on the farm in front of a large map showing its prospect, Kim Jong Un said the farm visited by leader Kim Jong Il on June 2, 2011 is an important one to which the leader paid special attention as it is directly linked with the people's living.
He learnt in detail about how the Construction Shock Brigade 618 has carried out the last instructions of Kim Jong Il after undertaking the project for building the farm on an expansion basis.
Recalling that Kim Jong Il instructed the farm to build a factory evaporating fruit juice and producing dried apple slices, a fruit storehouse and a factory producing wire net fence, he learnt about how this instruction is being implemented.

Looking at the fruits on branches of 5-year-old dwarf apple trees, he said he felt as if he were watching trees heavily laden with apples in autumn and expressed satisfaction at the fact that the farm has turned into a young orchard.
In order to radically increase the production of fruits, it is important for the farm to expand the area under fruit cultivation as planned, produce fruit saplings by itself and put the manuring and cultivation of fruit trees, including application of agricultural herbicide, on a sci-tech basis, he noted.
He stressed the need to mass-produce organic compound fertilizer and thus decisively raise the fertility of soil by applying a ring-shaped rotation production system to the combination of fruit farming and stock-breeding.
He also underscored the need for the farm to make full preparations from now on to solve the issues arising in picking and carrying apples and processing fruits, in particular, in keeping with the increase of fruit production.
A combined fruit processing factory should be built on the Kosan Fruit Farm, too, he added.
He dropped in at a water pumping station for dripping irrigation built on the farm. There he acquainted himself with the dripping irrigation as well as technical specifications and performance of the pumping equipment.
He praised the builders and employees of the farm for having introduced a modern irrigation system to put the manuring and cultivation of fruit trees on a highly intensive basis and thus provided a scientific and technological guarantee for boosting the fruit production while safely cultivating the trees.
He was pleased to see the road built by the members of the Construction Shock Brigade 618.
It is meaningful, indeed, that a large orchard has made its appearance at the foot of Chol Pass symbolic of the Songun revolutionary leadership, he said, adding a fresh fairyland called "the sea of apples at foot of Chol Pass" will spring up when the project for expanding the capacity of the farm comes to a finish and a sea of apples is unfolded there.
He went round a factory producing concrete props, roof tiles and bar steel the shock brigade is now running after it built with its own efforts.
The expansion project should be completed unconditionally at the date fixed by Kim Jong Il, he said, adding that to this end, the related units should sincerely help the shock brigade in pushing ahead with the project.
He expressed expectation and belief that the members of the shock brigade and the employees of the farm would make sustained efforts to step up the project and increase the fruit production.
He was accompanied by Kim Kyok Sik, Choe Hwi, Pak Thae Song, Pak Jong Chon and An Ji Yong.

It is such a fashionable factory that no one can say it is a production establishment, he added.
He made the rounds of various production processes of the factory to learn in detail about its construction and technical equipment and production.
He highly appreciated the feats performed by the builders, noting that the factory capable of mass-producing varieties of nets with less manpower is a precious treasure of the country as it was constructed well and cultural practice in production is at a high level.
He said he was pleased to know that nets are great in their tensile strength, high in extension rate and very durable.
Learning about the toughness and use of ropes produced at the factory, he underscored the need to mass-produce ropes whose demand is great everywhere.
If the factory reenergizes production by minutely conducting business management and activities, it can bring it to a higher level in a brief span of time, he noted, stressing the need to exchange technology with the Taedonggang Net-weaving Factory and earnestly learn from its good experience.

Kim Jong Un Visits Pig Farm under KPA Unit 549
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, visited a pig farm under KPA Unit 549.
The pig farm was built according to the instruction given by leader Kim Jong Il on May 8, 2006, prompted by his strong desire to provide more meat to the service persons.
Kim Jong Un acquainted himself with the management and operation of the farm.
He learnt in detail about the production capacity of the farm, the quantity of pork produced last year and the measures taken by the farm to ensure the supply of electricity and feed. He asked about how the farm has carried out the instruction given by Kim Jong Il to produce electricity by use of methane gas generated from excrement of pigs.
Kim Jong Il, who personally initiated the building of the farm and clearly indicated the road to be followed by it, said he would visit the farm once in his lifetime but he failed to do so, Kim Jong Un noted.
He went round fattening house No.1, a piglet house, a breeding house, a feed processing factory, a meat processing factory and a combined control room to learn about the raising and tending of pigs and the pork processing at the farm.
At the fattening house he was pleased to see a herd of fat pigs and asked how many pigs are bred in a house, what is the feed supply norm and what is the per hectare grain yield at the farms supplying feed to the pig farm.
At the piglet house, he asked about the death rate of pigs. At the breeding house, he was satisfied with good strains, underscoring the importance of taking good measures for ensuring proper temperature in breeding pigs and establishing a good ventilation system.
Underlining the need to put pig breeding on a scientific basis, he said it is necessary for the farm to build well a research institute for settling scientific and technological issues arising in breeding and veterinary and anti-epizootic work and enhance its function and role.
He dropped in at the feed processing factory to examine organic compound fertilizer, additives, preventive medicines, etc. produced by the farm and learn about the feed processing.
In order to settle the feed issue, it is necessary to simultaneously develop stock-breeding and agriculture, he noted, stressing the need for the farm to keep the production of organic compound fertilizer going at a high rate and send more fertilizers to relevant farms.
As Kim Jong Il stressed on every occasion, it is possible to simultaneously increase pork production and grain yield only when a cyclic production system is fully introduced to stock-breeding and agriculture, he said.
Making a round of the meat processing factory, he underscored the need to put it on a high level of automation and mass-produce varieties of quality processed pork including sausages and send them to service personnel.
At the combined control room he underlined the need to arrange overall production processes to more rationally suit breeding and energetically push ahead with the work for placing pork production on a scientific and intensive basis as required by the new century.
