KIM JONG UN GIVES FIELD GUIDANCE TO KUMKOP GENERAL FOODSTUFF FACTORY FOR SPORTSPERSONS

Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Kumkop General Foodstuff Factory for Sportspersons.

He said that the factory was built just few years ago but it is well known to the country and the popularity of its products and demand for them are daily increasing.

He went round different places of the factory to learn in detail about its production and management. He was pleased that the factory is producing a large quantity of foodstuff with small manpower and not big area for production.

He praised the factory for producing diverse varieties of foodstuff, turning out packing materials by itself and packing products in a cultured manner by applying advanced technology to it. The factory is playing an important role not only in the sports field but also in developing the nation's food industry, he noted.

He underscored the need for the factory to put main emphasis on boosting the production of varieties of foodstuff helpful to the care for nutrition of sportspersons and their recovery from fatigue and steadily improving their quality.

He said that the factory should wage a dynamic drive for developing and producing foodstuff including chewing gum which is badly needed by the sportspersons and suited to the constitution of the Koreans, not resting content with the successes already made.

He instructed the factory to thoroughly ensure the hygienic safety of foodstuff by introducing information technology into management activities and putting the production processes on an automated, unmanned, germ-free and dust-free basis at a high level, while keeping the production going at a high rate.

He went round the cultural and welfare facilities and greenhouse of the factory.

Saying that the secret of successes in all work entirely lies in how the officials work, he highly appreciated the merits officials of the field concerned and factory including Ri Jong Ho performed by successfully managing it and doing business with innovative eyes to implement the party's policy.

He expressed belief and conviction that the officials and employees of the factory would play a pace-setter's role in developing the sports and foodstuff industry of the country. He had a photo session with them.

He was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Ri Il Hwan and Han Kwang Sang, department directors of the C.C., the WPK, and Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the C.C., the WPK.

Kim Jong Un Visits Kangdong Precision Machine Plant

Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Kangdong Precision Machine Plant.

He said that he came to the plant to encourage its workers in their New Year drive they launched full of confidence in victory after unfailingly carrying out their production quota assigned by the party last year.

He went round the remodeled revolutionary museum.

When visiting it in July of 2013, he recalled that the plant was associated with a lot of revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il as the President personally chose its site and guided its construction and Kim Jong Il paid special attention to it till the last moments of his life. Kim Jong Un called on the plant to remodel the room for education in the revolutionary history into the revolutionary museum so as to convey their undying leadership feats to posterity.

He looked round the monument to the revolutionary activities of peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu newly erected in the compound of the plant. He said that the monument was built well and it was the fruition of the noble ideological and mental world of the officials and employees of the plant who are determined to live and work, always thinking of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. He praised its workers for having always remained loyal to the party with signal production achievements. He went round different places of the plant to learn in detail about development of new products and production there.

Watching machines newly produced at the plant, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that its workers successfully developed efficient machines by devoting their creative wisdom and enthusiasm. The plant has a very important duty to perform for developing the country's machine-building industry, he noted, setting forth the tasks to be fulfilled by the plant.

An important task before the plant is to wage a dynamic drive to over fulfill its national economy plan for this year and, at the same time, simultaneously push ahead with the project to expand its production capacity, he stressed.

He said that it is necessary to have in place not only modern machine-processing equipment but also testing and measuring equipment based on the cutting edge technology in order to meet the growing needs for precision machines and raise the quality of products.

He instructed the plant to build welfare and service facilities to be impeccable while updating it and construct a scientific and technological disseminating room as required by the age of knowledge-based economy to thoroughly implement the party's policy for educating all the people to be well versed in science and technology.

Going round bedrooms, a dining hall and reading room of the workers' hostel newly built at the plant, he said that it should meticulously manage and operate the hostel to provide the hostellers with best conditions so that they might not feel any inconveniences in their living.

The supply service is the important policy issue consistently emphasized by the party and if the supply service is proven successful and the level of cultural and emotional life is high, the employees' attachment for the plant and their enthusiasm for production will naturally grow strong, he noted, urging the officials to always use their brains and make strenuous efforts to provide the employees with better conditions for production and living.

He expressed belief and conviction that the officials and workers of the plant would continue to add shine to the honor of being a model plant in devotedly implementing the party's policy by fully displaying the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu and the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu.

DPRK WILL HONOR ITS COMMITMENTS TO ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING

Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the National Coordinating Committee of the DPRK on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Friday gave the following answer to the question put by KCNA in connection with the fact that, recently, the DPRK committed itself to implementing the action plan of "international standard" for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism:

On Jan. 15, the president of the Central Bank of the DPRK submitted the Financial Action Task Force on Anti-Money Laundering a letter in which the DPRK committed itself to implementing the action plan of "international standard" for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

This is a manifestation of the political will of the DPRK government, prompted by its consistent stand to boost international cooperation for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

Most of the recommendations in the action plan have long been implemented by the DPRK to suit its specific conditions as they are legal and institutional measures for incriminating and punishing money launderers and supporters of the financing of terrorism.

The DPRK will sincerely implement the action plan to promote the mutual understanding among the member nations of the Financial Action Task Force as it had committed despite the moves of the U.S. and some other countries which are not pleased with cooperation between the DPRK and the Financial Action Task Force.

The Task Force should positively respond to such cooperation efforts made by the DPRK just as it gave assurances at the negotiations with the latter.

KIM JONG IL’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN PARTY BUILDING

        For about half a century of leading the WPK, Kim Jong Il performed outstanding feats in Party building.

What is the greatest is that he developed the WPK into a solid integral whole in ideology and achieved the unity and cohesion in it.

He made sure that the WPK was strengthened and developed, only guided by the Juche idea created by President Kim Il Sung, founding father of socialist Korea.

The modeling of the whole Party on the Juche idea he put forward in the 1970s marked a historic event of important significance in strengthening and developing the WPK into the Juche-type revolutionary party. He made public in March 1982 the classic work On the Juche Idea, thus comprehensively systematizing the Juche idea and enriching it into the great guiding ideology for the cause of independence. This also served as another momentum in carrying out the building and activities of the WPK as required by the Juche idea.

Kim Jong Il developed and enriched the Juche idea without interruption in keeping with the demand of the times and the developing revolution.

After the demise of Kim Il Sung in July 1994, he held fast to the Juche idea as the guiding ideology of the Party and thoroughly implemented it. And he developed the Songun idea and line

that rooted in the Juche idea as required by the times, thus formulating a powerful political mode of socialism, Songun politics, unprecedented in the world.

He constantly put it forward as an important demand of Party building to achieve the unity and cohesion of the Party.

He ensured that all the Party members were fully armed with the Juche idea and the Party policies, its embodiment, and never tolerated the heterogeneous ideological trends that were detrimental to the unity and cohesion of the Party. That’s how the WPK came to achieve the unity in ideology and purpose and in moral obligation, based on one idea and around one centre, and displays to the fullest its ever-victorious might as the guiding force of the Korean society.

He also saw to it that the WPK stipulated in its rules that the WPK is the eternal party of Comrade Kim Il Sung and would carry forward the tradition of the unity and cohesion through generations. It was wholly attributable to the unity and cohesion, the strongest weapon, that the WPK emerged victorious in the struggle to defend socialism and brought about a radical phase of building a thriving country in spite of the grim situation created toward the end of the last century.

That the WPK has developed as a genuine motherly party that serves the people constitutes another outstanding exploit Kim Jong Il performed in Party building.

He regarded it as the WPK’s aim and mission that it works and exists for realizing the independence of the masses of the people and it should not only unite them around itself but take responsible care of them in order to realize their demand for independence and interests.

He set it as an important principle in the Party work method that the Party work is precisely the work with man and all Party officials should go among the people to lend their ears to them and solve the problems in their life in time.

He ensured that even a line and a policy were formulated to mirror the people’s will and intention and never to infringe upon their interests.

Under his leadership the WPK continued to put into effect the universal free medical care and free compulsory education systems at the end of the last century, too, when Korea was undergoing the worst hardship and difficulties amid the concentrated anti-socialist offensives of the imperialists.

The line of building a thriving nation is, in the final analysis, aimed at making people lead a happy life with nothing to envy in the world by radically improving the people’s standard of living.

To solve the people’s food problem, the coal gasification is introduced into large fertilizer complexes. Modern fruit farms such as the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm with an area of over 1 000 hectares are built throughout the country, and the fruit processing and foodstuff factories constructed on a high standard are paying off handsomely.

The pig, poultry and fish farms and solar-heat energy greenhouses are being mushroomed, enriching the people’s dietary life. Introduction of the cutting-edge technology into the vinalon production lines based on the domestic raw materials is bringing about changes in fibre and other chemical goods production.

Kim Jong Il paid a special attention to the WPK’s efforts to make the people lead a plentiful and civilized life to their heart’s content. He continued to give field guidance at the Kaeson Youth Park, Hana Music Information Centre, Kwangbok Area Supermarket and other places even in the last days of his life.

Apartment houses in the Masudae area, a dolphinarium, an outdoor ice rink and a health complex of the latest style are now under construction in Pyongyang. They are the gifts the WPK presents to the people on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, as wished by Kim Jong Il.

Though Kim Jong Il passed away, the WPK venerated him as its eternal General Secretary.

LEADERSHIP EXPLOITS OF KIM IL SUNG, KIM JONG IL FOR YOUTH LEAGUE PRAISED

Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- January 17 is the 69th founding anniversary of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.

On the anniversary all the young people of the DPRK recall with deep emotion the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who gave birth to the Juche-oriented youth movement and founded the mass youth organization and developed the youth league into the reliable political reserves of the party.

Kim Il Sung went among the young people in his early years and started his revolutionary activities by rallying the ranks of fighters. He created the unique idea of prioritizing youth and successfully implemented it during the whole period of leading the revolution.

He provided a precious tradition of the youth movement in the flames of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. Right after the liberation of Korea he worked heart and soul to rally young people under the flag of democracy.

After laying a strong foundation of the mass youth organization, he founded the Democratic Youth League of Korea on January 17, Juche 35 (1946) and indicated bright ways for the youth league.

In May 1964 at the Fifth Congress of the Democratic Youth League of Korea he declared the renaming the organization the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea and devoted his tireless efforts to the work for developing the youth league into the powerful combat unit of the Korean revolution and reliable heir to the socialist cause.

Thanks to Kim Jong Il's outstanding leadership and particular care, the youth league had developed into the most vibrant unit of society.

He handed over the torch of the revolution to the youth and saw to it that the Youth Day was instituted and the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea was renamed the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, and personally awarded the flag of the youth league bearing the image of the President.

He entrusted the task for important construction projects to the youth league and took deep care of it so that it might perform miracles and feats. He took such benevolent step of making sure that monumental edifices built by the young people had letters "youth" in their names.

Now the Korean youth movement has greeted a new heyday of its development under the wise leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un.

U.S. Accused of Cooking up Conspiratorial Documents against DPRK

Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies released the following statement on Tuesday:

The truth behind the conspiratorial "human rights" racket kicked up by the U.S. and other hostile forces against the DPRK in the UN arena is being self-exposed.

It has been disclosed that the "report of the Commission of Inquiry" on the human rights performance in the DPRK, which served as a basis of the anti-DPRK "human rights resolution" rammed through the plenary meeting of the 69th UN General Assembly last December by hostile forces, was no more than a false document cooked up on the basis of false "testimonies" made by human scum.

As reported recently, defector from the north Sin Tong Hyok, who had come out as a primary "testifier" when working out the above-said "report of the Commission of Inquiry", confessed that he had told lies about his past and pledged not to be involved in such "human rights campaign" against the DPRK in the future.

As the DPRK had already clarified, Sin is a swindler who had appeared with false name and career and no more than a parasite who has prolonged his remaining days by noisily trumpeting about the misinformation provided by his master.

Sin had styled himself a "survivor" in the "concentration camp of political offenders" that does not exist in the DPRK, no more than a sheer lie and a fiction.

He is a heinous criminal who raped a girl under age that can never be pardoned in Europe and all other parts of the world.

He should not only admit his lies but make clear his true colors as a criminal.

If he fails to do so, the DPRK will bring to light his crimes before the whole world.

What was ridiculous was that Bush, Kerry and others in the ruling camp of the U.S., not content with resorting to their desperate anti-DPRK campaign, let even such liars as Sin appear at a "high-level meeting on the human rights performance in the north" and other arenas and highly praised him. These disgusting behaviors remind one of a drowning man catching at even a straw.

The U.S. authorities, bereft of reason as they were hell-bent on their hostile policy toward the DPRK, staged a farce by getting such a swindler involved in their anti-DPRK human rights racket, although they were aware of his true colors. But it only brought to light the true colors of their conspiratorial "human rights" racket before the world.

The U.S. "invited" Sin to the UN and other arenas and staged "hearing" and distributed "the report of the CI" worked out on the basis of false testimonies as a UN document before cooking up a UN "resolution." This cannot but be the most mean and shameless act of flouting the conscience of the world people.

Sin's admission of his lies goes to prove that everything told by those who claim to be "defectors from the north" cannot be trusted and the above-said report is peppered with sheer lies.

So needless to say, all the "resolutions on the human rights" forcibly adopted against the DPRK on the basis of such false documents are invalid.

It is bitter shame on the UN that it was involved in the racket against the DPRK, taken in by the U.S. plots.

The hostile forces should retract at once the false documents including the "resolutions on the human rights" based on the lies told by human scum, though belatedly.

The international community should take a fair stand, keenly aware that the U.S. and other hostile forces' "human rights" racket against the DPRK is utterly irrelevant to the defence of genuine human rights and it is the most dangerous move to tarnish its image and find a pretext to invade it, to all intents and purposes.

Kim Jong Un Calls for Holding Kim Jong Il in High Esteem as General Secretary of WPK Forever

In the talk Kim Jong Un said that the Fourth Conference of the WPK is to be held amid great expectation and concern of the people at home and abroad in the run-up to the significant Day of the Sun marking the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Un called for making the Conference serve as a turning point in providing an important landmark in upholding leader Kim Jong Il as eternal leader of the WPK together with Kim Il Sung and successfully realizing their ideas and cause.

 He stressed the need to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as general secretary of the WPK forever.

Doing so is a principled requirement for holding fast to his idea and line and victoriously advancing our revolutionary cause, Kim Jong Un noted, adding:

 This is by no means a symbolic meaning. This means invariably having Kim Jong Il at the post of general secretary of the WPK and carrying out the party building and activities in line his idea and intention.

 The idea and line of Kim Jong Il serve as eternal guidelines of our party and revolution and an ever-victorious banner whose validity and vitality have been proven in the revolutionary practice. The victorious advance and completion of our revolutionary cause is unthinkable without his idea and line.

Only when Kim Jong Il is held in high esteem as general secretary of the WPK forever, will it be possible to dynamically advance the revolution and construction and successfully accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche as in the past.

At the Party Conference we are going to declare internally and externally that the WPK is the glorious party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un said, adding:

The WPK is the party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as it holds them in high esteem as eternal leaders.

 The guiding idea of the WPK is the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

The Workers' Party of Korea is a glorious party that has Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as its guiding idea and struggles for their realization.

To model the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the supreme programme of the WPK. This is a revolutionary succession to the modeling of the whole society on Kimilsungism and represents its development to a new higher stage.

We should wage a more dynamic struggle to model the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism just as we waged a strenuous struggle under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il, regarding the modeling of the whole society on Kimilsungism as the party's supreme programme.

 No matter what difficult and huge revolutionary duty we may face, we are sure to triumph as there are outstanding leaders, eternal sun of Juche, the invincible WPK, the people intensely loyal to the party and the leader as well as the strong revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu.

 We should hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal leader of our party and people and glorify his revolutionary career and undying revolutionary feats for all ages.

 Kim Jong Il was a great leader, matchless patriot and kind-hearted leader of the people, the leader who devoted his all to the prosperity of the country and the happiness of its people with absolute loyalty to the President and warm love for the country and its people.

 His life was the most brilliant life of a peerlessly great man who performed undying feats for the party, the revolution, the country and the people true to the noble intention of the President.

 We should carry out all work for holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem for all ages and perpetuating the memory of the leader with pure conscience and moral obligation.

 To develop the WPK into the eternal party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il means holding fast to Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the guiding idea of the WPK and conducting the party building and activities just as was thought and intended by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

 What is important for strengthening the WPK as the eternal party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il is to more thoroughly establish the party's monolithic leadership system.

 All the party members, servicepersons of the People's Army and other people should uphold the party's ideology and leadership with faith and conscience, rally as firm as an iron wall around the Party Central Committee in thinking and purpose and sense of moral obligation and share their destiny with the party in good or grim days.

 We should strengthen the single-minded unity of the WPK and the revolutionary ranks in every way and thoroughly defend it.

 Single-minded unity is the most valuable revolutionary legacy bequeathed to us by Kim Jong Il and mainstay of the Korean revolution. The single-minded unity in which the leader, the party and the masses are united on the basis of great idea, warm loving care and feelings is the greatest treasure more valuable than hundreds of millions of tons of gold.

 It is essential to deeply respect the people, prioritize their interests and look after their life as their real mothers would do.

 Believing in the people as in Heaven was the maxim of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. True to their noble intention all the work should be conducted with priority given to the demands and interests of the people while boundlessly respecting them.

It is necessary to make the noble and beautiful traits of helping and leading each other forward pervade the whole country and thus make society a great harmonious family in which all its members are united in single mind.

 Kim Jong Un said:

The heroic deeds performed by Pak Thae Son, former miner of the Kumgol Mine, by laying down his valuable life for the collective and comrades and by Ri Chang Son who was a farmer of the Ohyon Co-op Farm of Yonan County are beautiful deeds which can be found only among the people in our era who were raised by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. They set examples for everybody to follow.

 Songun represents our independence, dignity and life. A country with weak military might can not defend its sovereignty and right to existence but will become plaything and fall victim to the imperialists in the long run. This is a hard fact. So we should consistently hold fast to the work of bolstering the military might.

 The might of Songun represents the might of the People's Army and what is essential in strengthening the military might is to strengthen the People's Army.

 The People's Army should become standard-bearers and a shock brigade not only in defending the country but in carrying out the party's plan for building a thriving nation as the driving force of the revolution. It should also become pace-setters in creating and disseminating Songun culture in the new century.

 The traits of attaching importance to military affairs should be established throughout society and an all-people, nationwide defence system should be consolidated to turn the whole country into an impregnable fortress.

We should bring about a decisive turn in improving the standard of people's living and building an economic power.

We should put forward the people who have trusted in and followed the party only as the happiest people in the world by making the precious assets, which Kim Jong Il provided with much effort, pay off. This was his ardent wish and is the firm determination and will of our party.

 We should wage an unflinching offensive in response to the flames of Hamnam and rapidly develop vanguard economic sectors and basic industrial fields and thus lay a firm foundation for the economic development and increase production in all domains of the national economy.

 Priority should be given to power, coal and metal industries and railway transport. Only then will it be possible to reenergize the national economy and stabilize and improve the people's living standard.

 We should build a knowledge-based economic power in response to the flames of the industrial revolution in the new century.

 We should struggle with a high aim and ideal as intended by Kim Jong Il who used to instruct to look at the world with one's feet planted on one's own land, and thus beat the world in all aspects. In the spirit of exploration and creation displayed by workers in Ryonha who brought about drastic progress in CNC machine tools production, a drive should be waged to push back the frontiers of the latest science and technology to put the country's overall technological equipment on the level of world standard and improve the economic structure to meet the requirements of the era of the knowledge-based economy.

 Efforts should be given to land management to turn the country into a land of bliss.

 Kim Jong Un called for focusing all the issues arising in the economy on the Cabinet and establishing strict discipline and order of solving them under the unified command of the Cabinet.

Being the headquarters responsible for the country's economy, the Cabinet should set a goal and work out strategy for economic development on a scientific and realistic basis under a long-term plan and push forward on its own initiative the work to control, guide and manage overall economic affairs in a unified manner.

 All fields and units should solve all the problems related to the economic undertakings under a full agreement with the Cabinet and thoroughly carry out the Cabinet's decisions and instructions for carrying out the party's economic policy.

 Steady revolutionary turn should be effected in all the fields of the cultural construction including education, public health, literature and arts and sports and efforts should be made to glorify our country as a developed and highly civilized socialist country.

State investment in the education should be increased and modernization of the education be realized. The level of the secondary general education should be drastically raised and university education be strengthened to bring up talented world-level scientists and technicians who would be responsible for the drive for building a thriving socialist nation.

 It is necessary to give full play to the advantages of socialist healthcare system and create and disseminate more masterpieces of the times. Sports should be popularized to make the hot sports wind sweep across the country.

We should make the people create the noble and highly civilized socialist culture as well as enjoy them, thereby injecting vitality and enthusiasm into the whole society.

 In order to bring about a decisive turn in building a thriving socialist nation just as was intended and desired by Kim Jong Il it is necessary to increase the function and role of the party organizations before anything else and officials should fulfill their responsibilities and roles as commanding members of the revolution.

The officials should become true and able persons like Kim Chaek who successfully carried out any tasks, upholding Kim Il Sung. They should stand in the van of the ranks, become scouts blazing a trail and play the role of a locomotive in leading the masses in the field.

 Officials exist for the people, not vice versa.

The officials should learn from Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's view on the people and share weal and woe with them while sharing meal with them, and work harder and harder for them.

We should accomplish the historic cause of national reunification true to the life-long intention and behests of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

We should conduct positive external activities and contribute to the cause of global independence true to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's strategy and plan for external activities.

Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are always with us and encourage us. We should bear this in mind and work with redoubled efforts and successfully materialize their plan and desire and thus glorify the new century of the Juche revolution as a century of victory and glory. -0-

Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, provided field guidance to the Ryuwon Shoes Factory.

He went round the room dedicated to the history of the factory.

Watching the photos of leader Kim Jong Il seeing shoes produced at the factory, he recollected with deep emotion the feats Kim Jong Il performed in the efforts to let people and school youth and children have quality and fashionable shoes.

He said that the light industrial production bases built across the country are the precious legacies left by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He called for giving fullest play to the strong foundation and potentials of the light industry provided by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and provide the people with better and more consumer goods.

In order to keep production going at a high rate and raise the quality of goods it is necessary to pay primary attention to ideological education to give play to the mental power of producers, he said, instructing the factory to scrupulously organize education through the room dedicated to the history of the factory.

He went round various places of the factory including goods show room, injection molding shop, sewing shop and shoes making shop to learn in detail about the production of shoes and management activities.

Seeing sports shoes displayed at the goods show room, he praised the factory for making many successes in implementing the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on producing multi-variety, diverse and multi-color shoes.

Learning in detail about the development of new products, he said it is good to work hard to produce shoes suited to people's liking and meeting their demand and taste.

He said that the factory has an important duty to perform for developing the nation's shoes industry.

He instructed the factory to wage a dynamic drive to produce shoes favored by people and those symbolic of it and impeccable on foreign markets.

Low quality shoes disliked by people are useless no matter how many they are produced, he noted, underscoring the need for the factory to pay primary attention to improving the quality of shoes while increasing their production.

In order to produce convenient, fashionable, light and quality shoes, it is necessary to give priority to shoe designing first of all, put the production processes on a high IT, automatic and modern basis and channel efforts into firmly building scientific and technological forces as required by the age of knowledge-based economy.

He stressed the need to wage a dynamic drive for decisively increasing the proportion of locally available fiber and resin for shoe production and all kinds of basic chemical goods and improving their quality.

In order to produce shoes meeting the ever-increasing demand of the people and their cultural level, shoes which can match the world's famous goods, it is important to work out the development strategy of the factory well, he underlined the need to make a scientific analysis of all issues arising in goods production and quality, the control of equipment and business activities and settle them by dint of science and technology.

Calling for radically face-lifting the factory as required by the new century in terms of updating the production processes and improving the working conditions of employees, he said the party would settle all issues.

Consumer goods are directly linked to the living of the people, he said, adding that the issue of successfully ensuring the quality consumer goods is not a simple economic and business issue but an important issue of holding everything made locally dear and protecting it and demonstrating the advantages of the system in the DPRK.

The industrial establishments in the field of light industry should not confine to producing trial goods and samples for show or displaying at shops but put production on normal footing and steadily improve their quality so that people may substantially benefit from them, he noted.

He called upon officials of the relevant ministries and national institutions including the light industrial sector to work out strategies to raise the hot wind of leap forward in the production of consumer goods and make redoubled efforts to carry out them, deeply aware of the responsibility and duty they assumed before the people.

He earnestly called upon the light industrial sector to take the lead in the production and upon the whole country to keep pace with it to raise a hot wind of producing consumer goods and thus bring about an epochal turn in improving the people's living standards in the near future so as to translate the cherished desire of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il into reality without fail.

He expressed the expectation and conviction that the officials and employees of the factory would bring about a new turn in shoes production and quality. Then he had a photo session with them.

U.S., Germany Urged to Give Up at Once Screening of Anti-DPRK Movie: DPRK FM Spokesman

Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK released the following statement on Wednesday:

The U.S. and its vassal forces are becoming desperate in their moves to dare hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK.

According to a report, the U.S. recently presented to the Berlin international film festival the ill-famed and undesirable movie "The Interview" slandering the DPRK and fanning up terrorism.

Not content with reckless provocations, seized with morbid repugnancy and inveterate enmity toward the DPRK, the U.S. ruling quarters prodded a pseudo movie company into daring produce and distribute the movie hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK. This lashed its army and people into great fury.

As the base and mean movie was unanimously rejected by the international movie circle and public, the U.S. made great haste to open it to public over internet. Now it is going to screen the movie at its vassal countries under the pretext of the participation in the international film festival.

When the gangster-like movie company came under hot cyber attack for producing the undesirable movie, the U.S. is keen to slap new "sanctions" against the DPRK by deliberately linking it with Pyongyang.

All facts prove that the U.S. has opted for extreme confrontation to stifle the DPRK politically, economically and militarily by hurting the supreme interests of the DPRK despite its repeated warnings.

The U.S. anti-DPRK actions are being conducted in all fields with every possible means and method involved. This is the most undisguised terrorist act and war actions against the sovereign state and it poses a serious threat to the peace in the region and the world.

Germany is joining the U.S. in these actions though the former took the lead in inflicting unspeakable misfortune, pain and disaster on humankind through two world wars.

History and humankind still vividly remember aggression, plunder and racial extermination including the massacre of Jews committed by Germany during the Second World War no matter how loudly it may talk about its postwar reparation.

Germany's attitude to allow the screening of the undesirable movie while blindly following the U.S. cannot but be a dangerous act that can repeat its shameful history.

The screening of the movie that hurts the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK and openly agitates state-sponsored terrorism has nothing to do with the "freedom of expression" touted by Germany. It is evidently agitation of terrorism quite contrary to the purpose and nature of the Berlin international film festival.

The allowance of the screening would make "freedom of expression" touted by the West freedom of hurting the inviolable dignity of other countries, freedom of encroaching upon their political view, religious belief and culture and freedom of violence and terrorism.

Encouraging and praising terrorism are considered to be crimes as monstrous as terrorism in Europe and it is a reality that the most of the European countries are seized with uneasiness and fear in the wake of the hideous terrorist acts that occurred in France and various other countries.

To screen the movie agitating terrorism in Europe at this time is a self-contradictory act that chills the atmosphere of combating terrorism growing strong in the whole of Europe.

Running high at present is the indignation of the army and people of the DPRK and their will to annihilate the U.S. and other hostile forces as their moves to dare do harm to the dignity and authority of the supreme leadership of the DPRK have reached an extreme phase.

Devotedly defending the leader is the supreme principle of the DPRK that can never change no matter how many times the world may change, and there can be neither deviation nor compromise in this principle.

The U.S. and Germany should immediately stop the farce of screening anti-DPRK movie at the film festival.

Those who attempt at terrorist acts and commit politically-motivated provocations and those who join them in violation of the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK will never be able to escape merciless punishment.

All Koreans Called upon to Turn Out to Open Up Broad Avenue to Independent Reunification This Year

Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- An appeal to all Koreans was adopted at a joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK held here on Tuesday.

The appeal said:

The New Year address made by the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un is a signpost and a banner of the sacred struggle for all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to open up a broad avenue to independent reunification this year.

Let all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad respond to the calls of the historic New Year address with a nationwide struggle for improving the north-south relations and reunifying the country this year when the prospect for national reunification and the future of the nation will be decided!

It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to advance hand in hand with whoever loves the country and the nation and aspires after national reunification, not absolutizing the differing ideologies and systems in the drive for reunification.

If one regards his fellow countrymen as the "enemy" and seeks unilateral "unification of social systems", opposing our ideology and social system, north-south relations can never be mended.

Let us make this year marking the 70th anniversary of national division and the 65th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean war the first year free from war drills staged with foreign forces against fellow countrymen, a year of history when peace will be settled on the Korean peninsula!

The DPRK is ready to settle all issues in improving the relations sincerely and candidly and clarified a crucial stand on north-south dialogue.

The north and the south should no longer waste time and energy over pointless arguments and trifling matters.

The south Korean authorities should do away with the reckless "theory of unification of social systems" which will invite only confrontation and war, smoothly settle the reunification issue in the interests common to the nation and take the road of improving inter-Korean relations and achieving independent reunification, peace and prosperity from the new viewpoint and new attitude, away from the narrow-minded and hostile attitude.

The political parties and organizations of south Korea should actively swim with the giant trend of history to bring about a fundamental change in the inter-Korean relations, and refrain from putting brake on its wheel nor obstructing it.

We should significantly celebrate the 15th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the 70th anniversary of national liberation as nationwide grand events to go down in the history of the movement for national reunification.

Let the north and the south hold events common to the nation, grand reunification meetings of people of all social standings to make hurrah for reunification and enthusiasm for national unity prevail over the country where Koreans live!

Let us actively promote contacts and exchanges between the north and the south in sports, cultural and all other fields to rejoin the severed ties and blood vessels of the nation and demonstrate advantages and commonness of the nation before the whole world!

Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we express the expectation that those countries concerned and the international community will refrain from inciting confrontation between fellow countrymen and escalating tension on the Korean peninsula and extend support and encouragement to our positive efforts to mend the inter-Korean relations and reunify the country.

We ardently call upon all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad once again to turn out as one with the strong desire for reunification and patriotism and dynamically open up a broad avenue to independent reunification in this significant year.
