THE ALLEDGE SINKING OF CHEONAN

On behalf of the entire members of The Nigerian National Committee on the Study of Juche Idea, I hereby condemn the call by the US and her surigates to impose sanctions on the DPR of Korea over the alledge sinking of Cheonan ship. This alligation is baseless, without conclusive and convinsing proof and a mere figment of the imagination of the detractors of seeing united Korea.
This case is the result of hostile policy of U.S to destroy the peace and security in the Korean peninsula enjoys and isolate and stifle the DPR of Korea by inspiring the atmosphere of tension as currently is the case.
We call on all peace loving people of the world and progressives all over the world to vehemently denounce the manoeuvers of aggression conducted by the US and south Korean authorities under the pretext of "Cheonan"
We are absolutely supporting the statement of the spokesman of the National Defence Commission of the DPR of Korea published on May 22, 2010.
Korea would surely be reunited under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

Statement supporting the April 21 Memorandum of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK

Today, world peace and security are linked together with the world denuclearization. The denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is a part of the world denuclearization.
As long as the nuclear issue in the Korean peninsula is concerned, it is the inevitable result of a nuclear threat that was incessantly created and sustained by the U.S. against the DPRK for decades.
The U.S. President threatened to use A-bomb against the DPRK in 1950. After, the U.S. deployed more than 1000 nuclear weapons in south Korea and perpetrated the U.S.-south Korea joint nuclear war exercises for more than 40 years since the 1969.
The U.S. finally defined the DPRK as a target of “the pre-emptive nuclear attack” in 2002 putting the Korean nation into the extreme danger of nuclear catastrophe.
The DPRK made the nuclear deterrent to cope with the nuclear threat from the U.S.
We believe that it is the sovereign measure of “nuclear weapon for nuclear weapons”. A nation has the right to use whatever means necessary to defend itself.
The peace treaty should be concluded to put an end to the armistice and to denuclearize the Korean peninsula. We are extending our firm support to the politics of DPRK to build the lasting peace regime on the Korean peninsula and denuclearize it.

On the occasion of the election of Kim Jong Il to the Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPR Korea (9th April 1993)

It is a common sense that an army is considered a consuming unit in every country and its role is also confined to such purpose as the national defence and relief operations. But the Korean People's Army (KPA) in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea differs greatly from the armies in many countries around the world. To say nothing of the national defence, the KPA plays a leading role in all fields of the spiritual and cultural life and the economic construction, bringing great benefits to the people.
The KPA has helped the Korean people become strong and rich in spiritual power. A typical example is the revolutionary soldier spirit.
In the closing years of the last century the KPA soldiers set about the construction of the Anbyon Youth Power Station under orders of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il of the KPA. It was a difficult project unprecedented in its volume and conditions. At that time, the imperialists stepped up the extreme economic sanctions against this country, taking advantage of collapse of socialism in some countries.
Worse still, consecutive natural disasters drove it to severe economic hardships, rendering the project virtually impossible. But the servicepersons in the DPRK completed the construction project by displaying the spirit of defending their supreme commander at the very cost of their lives and carrying through his orders and instructions without fail and the heroic self-sacrificing spirit of offering themselves for the sake of the country, the people and their comrades.
When many industrial establishments of the country were forced to shut down owing to power and material shortages and the people had to tighten their belts due to food shortage, they performed feats, instilling firm faith and great courage into the mind of the people.
The Korean people, too, built by themselves medium and small power stations in different parts of the country by displaying the revolutionary soldier spirit and thus tided over severe economic difficulties. They even provided themselves with a springboard for building a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
In the course of this they were confirmed in their belief that they would surely overcome any difficulties and hardships and emerge victorious when they follow their leader with single-minded devotion, believe in their strength and implement the plans and intentions of their leader to the letter.
The KPA's mode of optimistic cultural life found its way into the whole society, inspiring the people to lead a rich cultural life, singing and dancing merrily at workshop and home under the slogan of "Let us go the thorny path cheerfully!" The fact that the Korean people, in the wake of the KPA servicepersons, built such a scenic spot and pleasure resort as Mts. Chilbo and Kuwol splendidly in the grimmest period fully reveals their optimistic spirit
In general, an army is tailed with an epithet of "war and destruction," but the KPA has become a synonym for creation and construction.,
The KPA has long rendered great services to the economic construction of the country. The servicepersons developed many mines and coal mines and built power stations, factories, enterprises, schools, hospitals and theatres, thus making contributions to the development of the country. They built the Pyongyang Metro in the deepest underground in the world and the 8-km-Iong West Sea Barrage, one of the leading structures in the world.
They are now making breakthroughs on the main fronts of building a thriving nation, erecting model structures of the times by introducing cutting-edge technologies. In 2009 alone they successfully built an indoor swimming pool at Kim Il Sung University, a soil-type pollution-free. greenhouse at Wonsan University of Agriculture, the Nyongwon Power Station, the Sinchang Fish Farm for sturgeon breeding, the Taedonggang Tile Factory, Majon Hotel and others, equipped with frontier scientific achievements and boasting of the finest architecture.Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il looked round them and spoke highly of their labour feats.
In particular, the soldier-builders in the project of the Huichon Power Station created the "Huichon Speed," a new speed for a great 'upsurge, and thus imbued the people with confidence that they are fully capable of hitting the goal to fling open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012 which marks the centenary of birth of President Kim II Sung, father of socialist Korea.
The said project is the largest in construction scale and volume among those which have been built in recent two decades, a gigantic project that will take more than ten years in view of an established concept. But the servicepersons, with a target date by 2012, built cofferdam and temporary drainage way in the very year of the groundbreaking, the first of its kind in the history of building hydropower stations, and finished the digging of the foundation for the dam and started its concrete placing.
They pushed forward the construction in a three-dimensional way, introducing a cable bridge-type belt conveyor and a fresh construction method by means of various concrete prefabs, with the result that they wrought a miracle of carrying out in only five months colossal amount of works which would take five years.
Kim Jong Il visited the construction site in September 2009 and highly appreciated the heroic struggle of the KPA soldiers there, noting that it is the wealth and prosperity only for the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people to have such servicepersons.

National Chairman
Nigeria National Committee on the Study of Juche Idea

On the occasion of 15th April, 98th Birthday Anniversary of Kim Il Sung

President Kim II Sung (1912-1994), founder of socialist Korea and the Korean People's Army, was a great military strategist and ever-victorious, iron-willed general, who defeated two imperialist powers in his generation.

Legendary hero
During the military occupation of Korea by the Japanese imperialists (1905-1945), President Kim II Sung organized the anti-Japanese armed struggle and led it for 15 years, thus bringing about Korea’s liberation.
Having left his native home in Mangyongdae in his teens with a firm determination that he would not return to Korea without having achieved its independence, he declared an all-out war against Japanese imperialism even though there was no support from a regular army and home front. The adroit guerrilla tactics he employed by means of unusual military wisdom and unique stratagems terrified the one-million-strong Japanese army.
The combat methods and tactics he created during the anti-Japanese' armed struggle were original ones that could be found in no conventional military theories and manuals.
Among them were those of harassing the enemy in their rear, attacking the enemy in the west after making appearance in the east, making the enemy troops fight each other and looking the scene from afar, sometimes concentrating the guerrilla forces and dispersing them when necessary, intensive attack on the enemy by large units and surprise attack by small units, rapid mobile warfare, alluring the enemy troops and then ambushing them, circling operation and so on.

Military genius
President Kim n Sung defeated the US imperialists in the Korean war (June 1950-July 1953). The Korean War, the fiercest of its kind after the Second World War, was a political and ideological confrontation between socialism and capitalism and, at the same time, a test of the art of leadership of the commanders-in-chief of both sides.
Before igniting the Korean War, the United States, which had been boasting of being the "strongest" in the world, ensured absolute superiority over the Korean People's Army in terms of strength, and introduced large amounts of military hardware into South Korea. It vaunted, saying that there had been no time when preparations were as perfect as at this time for a war and that the war would be finished in a few days. Many people were apprehensive of the fate of the young DPRK.
It had been a convention in the world history of war that the side which was surprised by the other side at the start of a war retreat temporarily and then make a counteroffensive after bringing the situation under control however mighty its military strength was. But when the enemy troops made a surprise attack at the dawn of June 25, 1950 (Sunday), President Kim II Sung led his country to frustrate it at a stroke with prompt, full-scale counteroffensive. Under his order, the KPA units checked the enemy's offensive a few hours after the start of the war, switched over to counteroffensive and moved south as they gained momentum as they advanced in this course, they liberated 90% of the territory of south Korea and 92% of its population in a little over one month.
When the United States attempted to "encircle and annihilate" the KPA units by hurling even the troops of its 15 satellite countries to the Korean front, President Kim II Sung ordered them to make a strategic and temporary retreat, thus saving situation. He then turned the tide of the war by ensuring that the KPA units formed the second front, harassed the enemy in their rear and made a new counteroffensive.
The KPA soldiers, in conformity with the terrain features of their mountainous country, dug tunnels and, by relying on those tunnels, employed various combat methods, like sharp shooting and assaulting the enemy troops and hunting enemy aircraft and tanks; they thus frustrated the enemy's offensive and steadily weakened the enemy forces. For example, they shot down over I200 enemy aircraft in one year of 1952. The unique tactics and audacious and adroit operations employed by Supreme Commander Kim II Sung, who always took the initiative, adapting himself to the ever-changing situation, forced the US aggressors to kneel down.

Iron-willed commander
Even after the Korean war, fierce stand-off continued between the DPRK and the US .
In the early 1960s, when the situation was growing aggravated owing to the US schemes to ignite a new war, President Kim II Sung advanced the line of simultaneously pushing ahead with economic construction and defence building, and strengthened the military capabilities of the country to the maximum. And the self-defensive line of making the entire army a cadre army, modernizing it, putting all the people under arms and turning the whole country into a fortress, a line he put forward, strengthened the Korean People's Army into an army, each of whose soldiers is a match for a hundred foes and turned the whole country into an impregnable fortress.
In January 1968, their armed spy ship Pueblo was captured by the KPA Navy after it had intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK. The US imperialists concentrated their large forces, including a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, in the waters near the Korean peninsula, claiming about a "powerful military counteraction" and "retaliation."
President Kim II Sung declared that the DPRK would answer the enemy's "retaliation" with retaliation and their all-out war with an all-out war. Disheartened by his pluck and courage, the US authorities signed a document, in which they apologized for the hostile acts of espionage committed by the Pueblo and promised that no US vessel would intrude into the territorial waters of the DPRK. This was a document of apology, the US authorities signed for the first time in the history of the United States.
He was awarded the title of Generalissimo of the DPRK in April 1992.

Statement of Nigeria National Committee on the Study of Juche Idea

We are greeting the 17th anniversary of the publication of 10-point programme for the national reunification worked out by the President Kim Il Sung.

The great leader President Kim Il Sung made public the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country on April 6, 1993.
The three principles of national reunification and 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the plan of founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo constitute the three charters for national reunification by which the President Kim Il Sung elaborated the basic principles and methods of national reunification into an integral system.
In the belief that the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation is the milestone for national reunification, the Nigeria National Committee on the Study of Juche Idea extends its absolute support to it.
The 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation proves that it is also important for Nigeria with multi-tribe and multi-religion to ensure the unity transcending the differences of tribe and religious faith.
The Juche Idea adherents in Nigeria support the proposal for conclusion of the peace treaty between the DPR Korea and U.S. , considering it as an urgent matter in order to ensure the peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

ON THE OCCASION OF BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY

Kim Jong IL’s Courage and Pluck

Not a few countries and nations around the world are falling prey to the highhanded and arbitrary actions of the United States and other imperialist countries, their national prestige and sovereignty being severely infringed and violated.
Peter Hayes, a reputed American expert of the Korean affairs, stated that a military option is now invalid to North Korea as it failed in the past, and will do in the future, too.
As he said, it cuts no ice with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It is the steadfast attitude and stand of this country to point guns against rifles and counter a hard-line policy with a tougher one.
Such stance is inconceivable apart from the courage of Korean leader Kim Jong Il.
On April 5, 2009, the DPRK launched its second artificial satellite for peaceful purposes. The US manipulated the United Nations Security Council into adopting an illegal "presidential statement," taking issue with the DPRK's satellite launch.
Several countries had launched many artificial satellites into outer space, but their launches have never been called into question, except the DPRK's launch.
It was quite an unreasonable act of infringing upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and debasing the dignity of the Korean people. It was quite natural for the DPRK., which values independence more than others, to react resolutely against it.
The DPRK demanded the UNSC make an apology for having infringed upon its sovereignty and withdraw all the unreasonable and discriminative steps adopted against it.
It also warned that, in case the UNSC does not make an apology, it would be compelled to take additional self-defensive measures, including nuclear tests, in order to defend its supreme interests.
It finally conducted its second underground nuclear test on May 25. When the UNSC adopted on June 12 a "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK finding faults with its nuclear test, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK issued a statement, strongly condemning and rejecting it and declaring that it would bolster up its nuclear deterrent and that an attempted blockade of any kind by the US and its followers would be regarded as an act of war and met with a decisive military response.
Counter "sanctions" with retaliation and "confrontation" with an all-out confrontation!" --this was the DPRK's reply. And it carried out its successive missile launch test in early July, proving that its declaration is by no means a lip service.
The international community looked in open-eyed wonder at the DPRK facing down the arrogant and arbitrary acts of great powers.
What struck the world with admiration was that the Korean leader carried on all his works as scheduled with composure, paying no heed to the new acute tensions created on the Korean peninsula.
He enjoyed a grand firework entertainment "Fireworks for Building a Great, Prosperous and Powerful Nation" held in Pyongyang in mid April and continued his field guidance trips to newly-built power stations, industrial establishments, cooperative farms and many other places across the country. He also had tens of thousands of servicepersons mobilized in building peaceful projects, including the construction of the Huichon Power Station.
The above-mentioned stories are only some pieces of facts showing the courage and pluck of Kim Jong IL.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has embraced Juche idea since its was introduced to the Union about eight years ago.

The previous ten years since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration followed by the publication of the October 4 declaration for its implementation, during which the Korean nation has advanced along the road for independent reunification and peace and prosperity, has clearly confirmed that these declarations are the most reasonable reunification programme and the ideal of “By our nation itself” is the very national spirit and the one and only ideal in the June 15 reunification era. Last year, we took active and bold measures and made sincere efforts in order to improve the aggravated inter-Korean relations and bring a radical phase in national reunification.
Our measures evoked great support and sympathy at home and abroad and created an atmosphere of dialogue and cooperation between the North and the South.
The schemes of the separatist forces to thwart the advance of the era of June 15 reunification are vicious, but they cannot break the desire and will of the fellow countrymen to achieve independent reunification and national prosperity by implementing the North-South joint declarations, and it is inevitable that the pro-reunification, patriotic forces will prevail over the separatist forces and emerge victorious.
This year we should hold high the slogan “Let the entire nation unite under the banner of North-South joint declarations and achieve national reunification at the earliest date!”
The way for improving the North-South relations should be opened.
Unshakable is our stand that we will improve the North-South relations and open the way for national reunification on the basis of the historic June 15 declaration and October 4 declaration.
Is the South Korea authorities continue to negate the June 15 joint declaration and cling to the policy of confirmation in collusion with the foreign forces, the relations between the North and the South will never be improved.
They should refrain from committing acts that may aggravate the confrontation and tension, and take the road of respecting the inter-Korean declarations, promoting North-South dialogue and improving the relations between both sides.
National reconciliation and cooperation should be promoted actively. Reconciliation should be promoted with the common national interest given precedence, and cooperation should be encouraged through travel and contacts between the people from all walks of life.
All sorts of legal and institutional mechanisms that hinder the projects for common interests and prosperity of the nation should be available and free discussion and activities of the broad sections of the people for reunification should be fully ensured.
The unity of the entire nation constitutes a decisive guarantee for the country’s reunification.
All the fellow countrymen in the North and the South and abroad should strengthen solidarity and collaboration to develop the national reunification movement.
They should build up the atmosphere of independent national reunification, reconciliation, cooperation and unity on a nationwide scale to greet the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the 30th anniversary of the proposal for the founding of the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo.
The entire Korean nation should crown the year 2010 as a year of opening a new phase of independent reunification by frustrating all challenges of the anti-reunification forces with their concerted efforts and stepping up the grand nationwide march toward reunification.
The fundamental task for ensuring peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Asia is to put an end to the hostile relationship between the DPRK and USA.
It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to establish a lasting peace system on the Korean Peninsula and make it nuclear-free through dialogue and negotiations.
Our party and the government of our Republic will strive to develop relations of good-neighbourliness and friendship with other countries and achieve global independence under the unfurled banner of independence, peace and friendship.

THE SPIRIT OF KORYO AND DEFEAT OF IMPERIALISM

Free men die free, live in dignity, and exist on honour. They fear no
Man and respect no impostor. A free man abhors slavery, hates An
usurper and no power will ever make him slave, even unto his grave.
  Ndaga philosophy.

Last month it was jubilations galore at the world of Koryo. The Koreans both in their physical and spiritual world clink glasses of victory over the reckless excesses of imperialism. Their long awaited freedom of unity, brotherhood and fraternity came to pass with opening of the first post imperial demarcation train crossing across the demarcated zones of cultural shame and political insanity. This symbolic feat is an indication of the many things coming as far as the unity of the two separated families is concern.
In the past, the Korean peninsular remains the most bizarre spots of imperial impunity on the face of the earth. For about over six decades, families were separated, matrimony destroyed, kinship compromised, social relations across blood, parentage and communalism were reduced to mere brigandage commodities of capitalism. The natural, national and supra-rational geo-political and historical landmark of the Korean peninsular was destroyed. The Korean peoples and their rich and legendary culture and history ceased to exist in the early fifties when they were reduced to just political coupons in the hands of imperial Europe and America.

Historically, the Koreans are men of liberty living in the bowels of freedom. They are not only well cultured, but they are human species that are open to values and pride that could not afford them the luxury of being enslaved, not by imperial Japan, nor by the west as symbolized by America. They resisted political colonialism, abhors economic dependency, rejected the boundless excesses of capitalism, fought blind and aggressive demand of westernization and finally dealt a deadly blow on socio-economic and political isolationism.

For over four decades now, the peoples of the two Koreans have been praying hard against their separation. Across their artificial boarder lines songs were sung, letters of love and solidarity were written, flowers were grown as symbols of hope and life for the separated families. In their war against this inhumanity, they found succor and relief in their sound of silence. Outside their official and state positions, the two Koreans are one and the same. They have more in commonality than in differences. Their names, culture, language, history and world outlook are all the same. It is less surprising to see them dismantling this monster they all collectively love to hate.

I had the opportunity to be in the peninsular last four months courtesy of an invitation by the Korean Academy of Social Sciences[KASS]. What I saw was like the eight wonders of the world. On my way to the area I was more than equipped with the piece of propaganda that was the hallmark of western media in particular and indeed the media in general. The picture I had in my mind was that of a country where the entire fabric of social and economic existence was comatose. A country where dead bodies outnumbered the living ones. A place where starvation is a norm and nutrition a rare privilege. A nation of absolute deprivation and scarcity at a critical level. The plethora of lies and heaps of propaganda that I and the rest of my country men were infested with got evaporated few days into my visit in that country. At worst, one could sum up the situation in the Korea as a nation and a people who prefer isolation than slavery, sacrifice than surrender, rights than privileges and security than mere deceitful assurances. Especially in a world that is more interested in the material than the human. Or worlds where majority of its people are unrepentant thieves.

Today the Democratic peoples Republic of Korea(DPRK) is standing tall amidst international enmity and hatred. It is like a colossus bestriding the capitalist west and imperialism without fear or apology. It is a symbol of not only freedom but a bastion of, and citadel of political sovereignty. It defines socio-economic self reliance in a manner that is ultra-pragmatist. Infact, what makes the Korean experience legendry and a legacy for mankind especially those who aspires to human dignity and honour, is their tenacity and capability in safeguarding and securing themselves from foreign and imperial occupation. Their spirit of self defense, security and strategic thinking is second to none.

The DPRK is free today not because it is not on the menu list of the west. It is free because despite its aromatic and appetizing effect on the west, it could not be consumed like Afghanistan and Iraq because unlike the two, in Korea, the policy of Songum is the shield of the koryo. And the beginning of wisdom for the west is the fear of the Songum; else the west will get songummed eternally. In the last fifty years, the Korean people have done exceptionally well in spite of stiff and deep seated hatred, animosities and sabotage by the west. Their tenacity and perseverance is a testimony to the efficacy of the Juche philosophy on one hand, and on the other the futurological genius ness of their leader and founder, comrade Kim Il Sung of blessed memory.

As I salute their courage and candor, may I appeal that this train crossing as historical as it is should not be celebrated in isolation of other more pressing realities like dismantling all imperial protocols, treaties, armistices, state and diplomatic restrictions, economic and cultural blockades and most importantly, the wiping away of the artificial line across the 38 degrees parallel dividing the North and the South. More so, in their desperate effort to re-unite they must not forget about their common enemy who may be lurking around to snatch their happiness and turn it to sorrow. In the spirit of koryo and as a member of the Juche family, I say congratulations and we look forward to seeing more of these victories over and over again.

OCTOBER EVENTS MARKED IN ABUJA,NIGERIA

SIXTY-FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE WORKERS' PARTY OF DPR OF KOREA MARKED IN ABUJA, NIGERIA

On thursday October 8, 2009, members of the executive council of the Nigeria National Committee on the Study of Juche Idea gathered in Abuja, Nigeria's capital to mark the sixty-fourth anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of the DPR of KoreaThe twelve-year anniversaty of the election of the Leader, Comrade Kim Jong IL as the Secretary General of the Wokers' Party of Korea. Below are highlights of the events in pictures.

SIXTY-FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF FOUNDING OF THE WORKERS' PARTY OF KOREA HELD IN ABUJA, NIGERIA

Trust of People in the WPK
The Workers’ Party of Korea(WPK) has the perfect mass foundation.
It was founded on the solid mass basis. Through its foundation was proclaimed on October 10, 1945, immediately after Korea was liberated from the Japanese military occupation on August 15 the same year, the preparation for it had been made from nearly 20 years ago. President Kim Il Sung(1912-1994) formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union(DIU) on October 17,1926, which served as the historical roots of the WPK. Having perceived the important role of a party, the President put forth the line of founding the party, its roots struck deep among the broad masses of the people. It had been an established formula that a party makes public its program and rules before declaring its founding and building its affiliates. Kim Il Sung regarded this formula from a different angle. He thought that the formula would lead the party to be founded to separation from the masses, like oil on the water. Thus, the WPK established its basic organizations among the people from all walks of life, including workers and peasants, formed local branches based on them and organized its central committee, a method unprecedented in party founding. Its emblem bears a hammer, a sickle and a writing brush as suited to its character.
Since its foundation the WPK has successfully performed its mission and duty as a mass party. It effected land reform, equal rights for both sexes, nationalization of major industries and various other democratic reforms, satisfying the long-cherished desire of the Korean people, and pursued the people-oriented policies. While enjoying an independent, creative and worthwhile life in the embrace of the WPK all the Koreans came to keenly feel the preciousness of their happiness as well as of the WPK that ensured it. Thanks to this absolute trust in and support for the Party, Korea could make a historical miracle of having defeated the US-led imperialist allied forces, stronger in numbers and military and technical preparedness beyond comparison, and emerged victorious in the Korean war(1950-1953). Many Korean People’s Army soldiers blocked with their chests the muzzles of firing enemy guns and rushed forward under roiling tanks with bundles of grenades, shouting “Call me a member of the WPK!” Such facts are clear testimony to deep trust the Koreans placed in the WPK.
The WPK has built a socialist state centred on the masses of people, holding high the slogan, “We serve the people!”
In the last years of the previous century when several socialist countries collapsed at one time, Korea safeguarded socialism with honour. It is a good example of thorough responsibility of the WPK for its people. In spite of the worst trials and hardship it faced due to the intensive anti-socialist offensives of the imperialist forces and consecutive natural disasters, Korea did not in the least experience any disturbance against government or social chaos, contrary to the prediction of the West. On the contrary, it firmed up the single-hearted unity of the whole society around the WPK.
The Juche idea underlines the people’s absolute trust in and support for the WPK. The Juche idea, authored by the President Kim Il Sung and enriched by General Kim Jong Il, is the idea that upholds the masses of the people as the most valuable and powerful in the world. The WPK has incorporated the idea, an invariable guideline, in its activities, thus administering the politics that loves and trusts the people. President Kim Il Sung”s dictum was that one emerges ever-victorious when he believes and relies on the people, but not when he turns his back on them and is forsaken by them. The dictum is the doctrine of the WPK today. The WPK exists only for the sake of the people and it deems it its duty to defend and ensure their interests and right to independence. The supreme principle of its activities is to promote the people’s well-being. It raises high the slogan, “Let the whole Party go among the masses!” ensuring that all its officials serve the people faithfully, always mixing with them. Its every line and policy reflects the opinions and demands of the masses; it never tolerates the slightest setback or weakening in the enforcement of the polices for the people-free education and medical care, tax-free arrangement and so on-however difficult the economic situation of the country may be. For this reason, the Koreans call the WPK the “motherly party”, entrust their destiny to it and wage a vigorous struggle to carry out its lines and policies.
As the tree with its roots struck deep stands firm in whatever fierce gales, the WPK that enjoys absolute trust of the people and has rock-solid mass foundation will never flinch in the face of any political turmoil of the world.

ECHOES FROM KINSHASA¬¬¬; IMPERATIVE FOR AFRICA’S SECOND LIBERATION THROUGH JUCHE IDEA

On Friday the 1st of May, 2009 the African Regional Conference on the Study of Juche Idea was held in Kinshasa, the capital of Congo Democratic Republic. Various countries were duely represented at the Kinshasa conference, and Nigeria was equally there. Every country had only one delegate, but my country Nigeria was represented by two delegates; dr m . m. alhassan, of the department of geography university of Abuja, and my humble self.

Ordinarily, the flight from Nigeria to congo Kinshasa ought not to have been more than three hours, but due to the nature of our neo-colonial situations in both countries, the journey lasted for about ten hours, spanning two days with a stop over night in addis ababa Ethiopia. Without any national carrier in both Nigeria and congo, the citizens of these two countries are left with no other alternative than to engage the services of the Ethiopian airline. What a pity. These are countries that are suppose to be the torch bearers of africa’s development in the twenty first century. Nigeria with a population of over a hundred million, a land that is almost pregnant with all sort of natural endouments as well as resources that are to say the least, enormous. While the Congo DR has over eighty million population with an amazing land mass that is twice the size of Nigeria, and an avalanche of natural resources that are begging for serious and sincere leadership for their harnessing.

I and my national chairman Dr M. M. Alhassan left this country with a lot of expectations and apprehensions. Apprehensions because of the prolonged civil war that had almost become synonymous with the history of that country. Should we really go for this conference or just forget about it because of the security implications? But after some reflections we decided to go. After all is Niger Delta crises not in Nigeria? However, our apprehensions was overtaken by our spirit of solidarity and love for our African brothers in the family of juche. So off we went.

First, our disappointment started at the Kinshasa airport. My God! What a sight? Of all national and International airports that I had the privileged of passing through, none is as dilapidated and in a poor state of disrepair like the Kinshasa airport. In fact, some air strips are far more better than it. Next is the corruption at the official level. Who says there is corruption in Nigeria? Well what we witnessed in Kinshasa airport by men of Immigration of that country is the master of all corruptions. For a slight error of omission in my yellow form, the entire men of the service were mobilized at the airport. All of them were looking forward to what they can squeezed out of their August prey. At last, ten Dollars did the work and we all went our ways.

Our journey from the airport to our Hotel, the Sultani Hotel exposed everything that is there to be seen about the country. The roads are a shame unto themselves, the buildings are everything but standard, the environment was so appalling that I began to pray that this is not Kinshasa. But by the time that I settled down in my hotel room, the reality of a war ridden society dawned on me. This country has been in war since the beginning of their national history. This is a country that was clinically hijacked by western imperialism right from the point of their beginning. A people and a nation or very sorry, a country that was designed to serve as an appendage of human existence.

Inspite of all these appalling realities, we settled down to the business that brought us to Kinshasa. The Conference was not only well attended, but it was equally well conducted. One re-occuring decimal that runs throughout the papers presented was the need to have another second liberation in the continent of Africa. Papers from Nigeria, Uganda, and Egypt drew a lot of lessons from their national experiences to serve as models for other sister countries from the continent. While papers from Guinea Conakry, South Africa, Tanzania and the host country Congo DR dwelled so much on the ideological missing link in the struggle against neo-colonialism and imperialism in the continent.

After three days of brainstorming sessions, interlaced with some syndicated group sessions, the conference closed with renewed commitments and dedication from all participants to carry the message back home. As I packed my papers and picked my bag to leave the conference hall, I reflected on the various conferences that I attended in the past and how insincere and uncommitted were the participants in the ideals raised in those communiqué. In this continent, people are interested more in attending conferences than in implementing the resolutions passed in these foras. The challenge for me is to pass all that transpired in this conference to my students, friends, colleagues and the entire members of our Juche family.
